May 19, 2025]If you can ignore the game’s pointless day-one DLC, you will be in for a uniquely themed construction sim with a lot of attention to detail in RoadCraft, albeit one that is not free of its bugs.

May 19, 2025RoadCraft is an interesting simulation compromise, which combines great attention to detail in models, times and settings, with the attempt to maximize the importance of the “task - completion - reward” mechanism. There is no need to refuel the vehicles, nor to worry about them breaking. It is almost more of a “simulation of a child builder’s imagination”, where everything is allowed and experimentation is a must. By involving other players online, distributing tasks and playing “role-playing”, the title’s playful peak is reached. However, those who experience RoadCraft alone will notice the hybrid nature which is not entirely realistic, nor “facilitated” enough. Saber’s title has nevertheless proven to be a rather efficient machine.

May 27, 2025With its visual prowess, RoadCraft presents a promising foundation for a unique and engaging construction simulator. Its road construction mechanics and realistic environments are impressive. However, it also feels underdeveloped and lacking in customization, which previous Saber Interactive games have. In addition, clunky UI and a plethora of bugs ultimately hold RoadCraft back from realizing its full potential. While dedicated fans of road engineering and construction simulators might enjoy the game’s granular control and visual feedback, “RoadCraft” requires significant improvements and additions before it can truly compete with established players in the genre. It’s a game with a strong concept but needs a lot more work before it’s ready for prime time. The foundation is there, but the road ahead is still under construction.

May 19, 2025RoadCraft is a great concept that needs at least another year of development. In a few patches, it’ll be the best game of its type, but it’s impossible to fully recommend with its sentient semis, borked physics, idiotic AI, and base technical issues.

May 19, 2025In theory, RoadCraft holds a lot of cards to become a brilliant road working sim, but ultimately suffers from Saber's inability to pick a lane and stay on it. Convoluted controls make it a daunting chore for the casual gamer, while the simplified execution of some construction tasks deem RoadCraft unfit to be a true sim. Combine this with some questionable physicsand frustrating vehicle characteristics, and one can only conclude that there's quite some roadwork to be done to make RoadCraft the game it ultimately deserves to be.

May 28, 2025If I had lots of free time, I would probably enjoy it a lot more. But I don't, so tipping over with a cargo bay full of steel beams makes me frown, where it might have otherwise made me laugh. This, I think, is another issue. RoadCraft is a podcast game, in the same vein as Truck Simulator or Elite: Dangerous. There's a big place for games like this in the world, sims that excel in delivering a specific kind of wonderful and comforting boredom. Slow tasks that act as a reassuring sedative in the manic whorl of life. But RoadCraft's start-and-go flow makes it a bumpier ride for me. I was falling asleep, but I never quite drifted off into its promised dreamland.
