Reverie Knights Tactics is a solid experience for anyone looking for a tactical battle title with a classic look and plot. There are no major innovations, but all the core systems work well, offering plenty of ways to deal with the combat puzzles at its core. Aurora is a solid protagonist, and the rest of the cast is likable. But everything moves too slowly for the full experience to be fun. During combat, I watched the same animations hundreds of times, more if I wanted to hit all the listed goals. On the world map, I had to move from one non-descript area to another. The developer at 40 Giants Entertainment had good ideas for Reverie Knights Tactics but they needed better implementation to keep me engaged in the long term.

Reverie Knights Tactics is an interesting RPG that tells a fascinating if a bit short story. Once you beat the game, you can’t help but think “That can’t be it, where is the rest of it?” and wish to see the plot develop further.

I loved turn based tactics titles but this is one you should definitely give a miss. The battles are so slow and lethargic, it feels likeI loved turn based tactics titles but this is one you should definitely give a miss. The battles are so slow and lethargic, it feels like you're stuck in mud. This wouldnt be a problem if the animations were so poor, its look like they are missing several frames. The cutscene stills arent so bad but the characters you play with make no sense and are badly written. A teenage girl lead character with glasses in a medieval world of elves and goblins. This really takes you out of the game. The engine also runs poorly even on a powerful rig with several bugs. Give this a try if you must but rather get it at a bargain bin discount. Full Review »
