Its a really fun game tbh, yes it can be better but still I really enjoyed it and no I didn't play the first one, I only played this remastered version.

Red Faction: Guerrilla contained from it first releases a great storyline, challenging missions, awesome smash em' up requirements that actually have a purpose and adversaries that are entertaining to whack. Frankly, it had and still has all the necessary elements to keep gamers faceplanted to monitors with one exception. it can't utilize my new 1 billion Jigowatt video card. Luckily there is Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered. This is a case of an excellent game made even better. You don't need to change the story or add missions. Yes, it would have been nice to have some newer characters or missions. However, the upgraded visuals are more than enough. Loads of eye candy and the original awesome story..... Expand

Still the absolute finest demolition game in 2020. No other game asks the player to think, "how do I topple this building with minimum effort?" while still providing a quality RPG experience around it.

The only downside is poor tweaking by the devs, who provided the right settings to edit but set them very poorly by default, though fortunately modders have solved this issue. The 10/10

The 10/10 score is after installing mods - else you're going to find the gunplay atrociously dull and overly time-consuming.

Red Faction: Guerrilla is a retro game, unfortunately not in the good sense of the word. Except destruction of everything imaginable, the game only has an average story, chaotic action, and old visuals, despite all the care. [Issue#288]

Changes this remaster brings are limited to textures, lighting and higher resolutions. After a decade that brought us an array of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Just Cause games the only thing that more or less stood the test of time in Red Faction is the destruction system. [09/2018, p.50]

Yeah, it all looks really good when it works, but that doesn't help the problems of the base game. [Issue#272, p.59]
