    On November 5, there were a lot of problems with the launch. I even wanted to return the money, but after 2 hours I figured out the problem by disabling the antivirus! The game is gorgeous, what they say about optimization is a complete lie! Everything works fine! And those who do not work let them buy a good PC! And do not cry like girls. On my weak laptop with a GTX 960M card everythingOn November 5, there were a lot of problems with the launch.     Great game!Thank You Rockstar!The atmosphere of the game draws from the head.The plot is at the level in the game you can live for months.There are of course questions on optimization, but I believe that Rockstar will eliminate them over time.My score is 9/10.

    GOTY. Except for few freezes in the first 30min of gameplay and some rare crashes. Who has more — switch to Dx12 instead of Vulkan. But on Dx12 there's glitches like creepy trees shaking, but this is doesn't matter at least for me.
    I'am truly enjoying this game way much more that I should.

    Red Dead Redemption 2 when it came out in 2018 on consoles, was the best open world game you could ever experience. The gamne beats any other (open world) title in almost every categorie. Rockstar really put many effort in creating this game, with its many characters, gameplay, and    So this review will cover the actual game score and not the issues people have with the game!

    Rockstar really put many effort in creating this game, with its many characters, gameplay, and outstanding graphics.

    So when you usually play an open world title, you may know, that some things are quiet cut off, as creating an open world, that is highly believable, has high end graphics and on top an excellent story is almost impossible to do. There were few games in the past, that could come close to this, but none of them is as big and as detailled as Red Dead Redemption 2. Not even the Witcher 3 can handle all of it that well,

    But lets start with the technical details.
    On PC the game looks pretty much the best you can get on any game you could name. The world is so detailled in everything, that it is amazing how much effort Rockstar has taken to get this cranked up for the PC version. Of course this comes with a high price. Many people are complaining about crashes and low performance on their rigs and not even get to 60fps.
    I can only tell you the numbers that could explain this:

    If we take the steam Hardware Survey, Following Hardware which is capable of 2k in High-Ultra (with fps between 40-60fps) is used there.

    1080ti 1,56%
    RTX 2070Super 0,25%
    RTX 2080 0,88%
    RTX 2080 Super < 0,15%
    RTX 2080Ti 0,54%
    Titan RTX < 0,15%

    Lets give the Cards below 0,15% the benfit of the doubt and count tham as 0,15% and then this makes

    3,53% of all Steam Users have a graphics card that could possibly handle the game in 2K at 40-60fps almost maxed out, with little things set to High (like Water Details).

    Considered that 96,5 % of the gamers on PC dont even own at least a 1080ti it is just ridiculous how they expect the game to run on Ultra on their rigs.
    So compared to any other game, the performace / detail ratio in Red Dead Redemption 2 is fine for me, as I do not know any other game that comes close to these details an graphics at all ... and I played all AAA games the last 10 years!

    Also you have to be aware, that you need to be able to set up your rig, with knowledge, which not even 1% of the gamers are having. I built so many rigs for friends and people I know alone, and they have decent rigs, but no knowledge about their insides.

    So yes, Rockstar needs to work on that, but its not a general flaw ... more the lack of decent Hardware and knowledge about how to setup your PC.
    We have to admit, that this game benchmarks current generation of Hardware and maybe the next one.

    I left out the CPUs, because the CPU is not a bottleneck on your PC if you have a rig, that is supporting these named Graphic Cards, so you can leave that out. Otherwise the percentage of the capable rigs will be even lower!

    So much for the 0 ratings because of performance.
    I play it on a 1080ti on Ultra at 1440p and get decent 40-60fps. With a good G-Sync Display it runs smooth enough and rarely drops fps.

    Coming to the Sound, which is awesomly designed as well. There is no ... literally no NPC that has really poor voice or texts, which is also very rare on an open world game that scale. Even the last dude, that most likely not even 1% of the players will find is done extremely well.
    The animals are having very good sounds and also realistic ones. It must have taken months to capture them all.
    Also environment sounds of horses, Same is with wagons or trains.

    The world just feels alive in every bit of what you can name. I even saw an Opossum that ran beside me, and as itr recognized me, it faked death ... breathtaking.

    When it comes to Gameplay, well this is kind of a taste thing. As this is a rating for the PC version I have to say, that the controls are designed for Controllers. Keyboard and Mouse are done very good, but it has many Keys mapped for any specific things you can do, and does not the very best job in terms of intuition.
    When it comes to the plaing of the game, it is also here outstanding choice. The amount of things you can do is also outstanding. From cooking, to crafting, to playing mini games in bars, to shaving, to cleaning your horse, do tasks in your camp, fishing, hunting ... name it and you can do it.

    The story is just the way Rockstar does it. Its not the very best in all video games, but its a thrilling, believable homage to the end of the wild west time and it is finished satisfying with closing the gap to Red Dead Redemption 1.

    In the end you will be left with the Multiplayer, that is out since 1 year now and went through a lot of improvements. PC Players have the advantage to had the consoles do the Beta testing, and Rockstar being reacting to the whishes out of that.

    A fantastic game in a fantastic world!
    One of the best graphics I've ever seen, in a lively and very active world, there are no empty spaces here.

    Optimization: The game pulls the graphics farther than any console could run, it comes at a price and the PC version is quite demanding. There are problems, but nothing very serious and gradually disappear.

    Must buy it.

    i wont be part of the negative bombing review stuff because it release was bad. This game is an AMAZING game and its worth a 10. Now, being that said, i gotta say i was pretty lucky given the fact that i was able to play normally pretty much the entire time in the story mode. I had problems at the beginning but Rockstar quickly fix most of the stuff for me. I still got problems with thei wont be part of the negative bombing review stuff because it release was bad. This game is an AMAZING game and its worth a 10. Now, being that said, i gotta say i was pretty lucky given the fact that i was able to play normally pretty much the entire time in the story mode. I had problems at the beginning but Rockstar quickly fix most of the stuff for me. I still got problems with the online tho, but if we are reviewing the game i must say its a 10. The discounted point its because all the problems it came with for lots of people, but luckily not that much for me, so i gotta say my opinion and that is that this is a masterpiece.     I was pretty sucked in with the story right away that's for sure. I never liked how they could have easily taken out dutch and Arthur multiple times by showing up at their camps. The game looks great and plays great for the most part. Just don't go flying through a wooded area with a brand new expensive horse. The worst part of this game    disclaimer: I've never played the 1st REDDEAD

    What a master piece ! Brilliant! Congratulations Rockstar and keep bringing this level of detail and work to pc. Playing with a 4790k oc , 1070 oc at 1080p 60fps ...people are just too stupid to understand that this game is able to push the best graphics out there , the game is demanding because is full of details . Problems ? 1 single crash since I bought it

Fortunately I just bought the game and there have been driver patches from Nvidia and game patches from Rockstar that seems to have addressed most of the issues. After fixing my initial issue with virtual memory shortage crashes from the fact that I had mine set low intentionally, the game has run very well for me.
    Intel I7 8700K.

    To put it simply, the game runs best on AMD parts. Keep in mind that both the PS4 & Xbox One use AMD parts, so there might be some connection to that, but if you have an NVIDIA card or Intel processor, then you will most likely have issues playing.

    I'm not giving RDR2 a 10/10, because there are still some graphical issues that I experience, and occasionally a few crashes (very rare though).

    I love the way this game introduces you to new concepts of the game. It reminds me of the original Mario. It starts of simple. Just progress forward through the map. You encounter an enemy that you need to jump over. Jumping over the enemy causes you to hit a block. You learn that blocks break.     It's a masterpiece. Rockstar has yet again done something incredible, the story is gripping, the gameplay is awesome and even after that, just running around the world doing stuff is a lot of fun.
    I haven't had any problems with the PC version, except maybe one or two crashes but that's going to happen with every game. You will need a decent medium-end PC to run it at medium graphics, so    It's a masterpiece. Rockstar has yet again done something incredible, the story is gripping, the gameplay is awesome and even after that, just running around the world doing stuff is a lot of fun.

    TBH I've been waiting for this game for a long time, and I am not disappointed. It got great graphics, cinematic cut scene and good gameplay. My PC comes with Windows 10 home edition, 32GB memory, GeForce 1070 and Intel i7 8086k. Unfortunately my SSD space is limited, so I installed it on my Seagate 1TB HD. The game launched    God of War 3 is not good enough to make me buy a PS4 :P

    TBH I've been waiting for this game for a long time, and I am not disappointed. It got great graphics, cinematic cut scene and good gameplay. My PC comes with Windows 10 home edition, 32GB memory, GeForce 1070 and Intel i7 8086k. Unfortunately my SSD space is limited, so I installed it on my Seagate 1TB HD. The game launched reliably with no slowdowns and no CTD while playing. However there is an autosave glitch, I ended up getting stuck on autosave question, forcing me to shut the game through task manager.

    The good, the games comes with multiple manual saves. I hate Far Cray 5 autosave only, it makes multiple playthrough tough. Red Dead 2 allows you to save anytime and anywhere. However, just like GTAV, when you load the game, it will load to the closest location and anything around you such as stolen stagecoach will disappears. The immersion and attention to details is amazing, beautifully recreates a fictionalized wild west.

    The Bad, Everyone knows Take 2 arrogance, specially with the Borderlands 3 drama. Take 2 forced you to buy the game in their own store front by delaying competing distribution from Steam and even Epic Game Store. At least they offer you some games, if you never owned one. This maybe a dirty trick to lure people to their storefront with very small library of games, reminds me of Bethesda.

    Despite the fact I never experienced any performance issues because my PC spec is fairly beefed up. The recommended spec may not guarantee reliable gameplay. Don't even think about running on minimum spec, it will lose your mind, One guy who complained about performance issues have a superior 1080, while my PC only have 1070 and have no problem with a mixture of medium, high and ultra settings with DSR resolution of 3200 X 1800. I do run into an intermittent slow down issues with GTAV, it appears to be a display driver bug, it can be solved by ALT-ENTER twice.    … Expand

    Apart from the awful control its just an astonishing game with visuals that are just jaw dropping. A great story, great characters and a boat load of very good content, one of the best game worlds ever created!

    Технический шедевр. Другие игры и за 10 лет не догонят. Мне нравится, что здесь обошлись без пошлых шуток. Это приличная история. Тем не менее, игра кажется крайне затянутой, тягучей.     Шикарная физика,графика,атмосфера,персонажи,сюжет( хотя многим может не зайти его затянутость, но я не считаю ее лишней т.к. вся игра заточена под реализм). Очень бесит то, что 2-4 бандита разваливают по 40 охотников за головами и законников, при этом даже ранения не получая, и весь этот бред длится до Сен-Дени, где уже начинается нормальный замес. Ну и эпилог максимально уныл, хотя опятьШикарная физика,графика,атмосфера,персонажи,сюжет( хотя многим может не зайти его затянутость, но я не считаю ее лишней т.к. вся игра заточена под реализм). Огромнейший минус - это оптимизация и вылеты, ибо 50-60 фпс на фулл ультрах, с просадками до 40 на 2070 s, это ну вообще такое себе. Ну и онлайн составляющее получилось так себе, цены слишком завышены, за задания получаешь копейки, пвп уныло из-за "меткого глаза" ( в нем просто 0 смысла лол), лица персонажей в любом случае получаются всрато + они немые.… Expand

    Купил игру после всех патчей и исправлений, в целом доволен. Впечетлил интересный сюжет на который у меня ушло более 60 часов, занятный геймплей, доп квесты и большой живой мир.

    I did not think any game could be a worthy successor to Red Dead Redemption 1, a game which I consider to be one of the best games of that console generation. But they did it. Extremely rewarding and lengthy experience (I came in a just over 100 hours played after finishing the campaign).

    If you like a more slower paced methodical western epic, buy ASAP. If you have the attention span    I did not think any game could be a worthy successor to Red Dead Redemption 1, a game which I consider to be one of the best games of that console generation. But they did it. Extremely rewarding and lengthy experience (I came in a just over 100 hours played after finishing the campaign).

    If you like a more slower paced methodical western epic, buy ASAP. If you have the attention span of a goldfish maybe stay away.

    The game also ran fine on my aging machine (I5 4670, 8GB ram, GTX10606GB). Some slowdown in large campaign shootouts and a total of 3 crashes during missions but other than that no problems.    … Expand

    Wow. This is the best game I have played so far in my life. Open world and story driven games are my favourite games so of course I'm going to love this. If you don't enjoy story games then you wont like this. Because - The story - AMAZING, long and detailed. The acting - AMAZING (and i dont say that often, i can pick up a **** actor on tv etc instantly and they often ruin it for me) TheWow. This is the best game I have played so far in my life. Open world and story driven games are my favourite games so of course I'm going to love this. If you don't enjoy story games then you wont like this. Because - The story - AMAZING, long and detailed. The acting - AMAZING (and i dont say that often, i can pick up a **** actor on tv etc instantly and they often ruin it for me) The graphics AMAZING and even the movements and facial expressions of Arthur, your horse and the other characters (even NPCs and wild animals too) are fantastic. The hunting system is great, its difficult to kill some tiny animals with a bloody bow and arrow but it makes it fun, so if you dont fancy doing some missions for a bit you can go hunting or do some challenges. The cooking/crafting system was strange at first but it makes sense and is quite simple really and quite enjoyable.
    This game is so realistic. It can be a very hard learning curve at the start and to be honest i nearly gave up this game after the first hour it really got on my nerves, specially when riding through towns and i kept knocking people over and getting bounties and witnesses to minor crimes (that was the most annoying bit throughout the game in all honesty) however i persevered and after a day or 2 i had learnt all the controls and nuances and I'm so glad I did.
    The missions are most of the time, different, and unexpected things happen in them. They can also be really long. The last few took me a week to complete, in fact I've been playing this game for the last 7 months, pretty much every other day with maybe the odd week break and that is how long its taken me to complete it - ive not got 100% im at 86.5 or something but ive done all the stranger and side missions that i have found, got all but the last legendary animal, done around half the challenges and explored the total map.
    Storywise - Arthur has been the best character I have seen in any video game. Theres so many funny lines that he says throughout the game aswell - he is a sarcastic lovable character. I think the most fun mission for me in this game is the one in the bar in Valentine with Lennie. After the game ended I had to watch this again.
    Yes it has some negatives, i think overall its an easy game to beat and maybe some difficulty settings would have been better here. Also the wanted system is very annoying, especially when committing train robberies - you have a bag over your head in a long underground train tunnel yet no lawmen are there and they somehow know its you before they even arrive. Nearly every time I have tried a train robbery my bounty was more than what I earned from it. This game is ABOUT a gang of criminals and the game makes it totally difficult to commit any crimes at all, if not even trying to steer you away from doing that. I suppose it makes sense given the various endings though but still.
    As a female I would have liked MORE FEMALE LEAD characters having a bigger role. Yeh its set in the late 1700’s and yes women were left behind in that era however the game was made in 2018. I thought Sadie was a great character and would have loved a bit more of that. Not even many stranger missions or encounters were from females. Apart from the ones that always needed saving, so Rockstar this would have been more ideal.
    Lack of fast travel for the most part of this game was quite annoying too - and made the game take so long. Only near the end of the game (i bought it 2nd hand) Rockstar introduced the fast travel (and photo mode which is fun too) it should have been in the game from the start. The auto equipping of weapons is annoying too. I would put some guns on my back ready for something, id get off the horse because i would come across someone that needs saving, id get there then i would have no guns on me! The game takes them off you for some reason if your still sat on your horse. Its similar for missions too and loads you up with random ones and not the ones you want. Another main annoyance is that half of the map is un-explorable until the main story ends and there is only one stranger mission that I have encountered here and I’ve ran around everywhere on this side of the map. Bit of a waste really and 3 legendary animals are on this side aswell which seems pointless as you can make trinkets out of them but don’t really have any use of them for many missions. A very minor thing that I would have liked is that Arthurs hair doesn't have a length limit! Why does it when everything else in the game is so detailed. even your horse has different hair lengths and colours to choose from lol
    In conclusion, Despite the negatives I'm really sad that I have finished the game now i wish it would carry on and on and on haha. Well done to Rockstar for this game, PLEASE make your next one as good as this - storywise especially. Arthur will always have a special place in my heart hahahah    … Expand

    For me, almost a 10. It has great graphic, great music and sound, great acting voices (played in English) and a very good story. It really feels like the far west, and after 330 hours sincked in the game (100 in the online part) I feel like suggesting this game for the single player. The story is very good, even for people that didn't playied the first game (like me).

    And now the bad part, the online it's a buggy mess, full of cheaters, trolls and people that make theyr fun ruining the fun of others. Sometimes there are good players too, but this game has a very bad online community. The worst thing of all it's Rockstar don't care so much about this game, getting rarely updates (the online story mode it's incomplete...), the released updates are nothing new or interesting. at least if you play it often you can have the good things without paying.

    So, almost a perfect game, with an online mode to don't look at. The boring slow actions are not something so bad but they are really annoying after playing it for a lot of hours.    … Expand

    Gameplay: 7.5/10 - The game gets a little repetitive with the horse riding, thankfully there are fast travel mechanics, otherwise the game becomes a chore, as the world is huge. The gunplay is average, movement a little sluggish but trying to stay as realistic as possible which is not a complaint, it's an artistic choice. I do wish the game had a little more of gameplay variation which is why I give it this score, Rockstar needs to up their gameplay innovation for their next games as they've kept it the exact same for what it has been like their past 4-5 big games (RDR1, RDR2, RD, GTAV, GTAIV).

    Graphics: 10/10 - No one in their right mind will complain about this game's graphics. It is absolutely stunning no matter where you look at it. Rockstar is still a master at world building like it always has been and hopefully will keep that record.

    Sound: 10/10 - The game sounds just like it looks. Beautiful, weapons are satisfying to shoot with the right punch to them, the reload sounds, the soundtrack is very fitting. The voice acting, dear god the voice acting, I have nothing but props for the voice actors.

    UI: 8/10 - The game sometimes didn't tell me stuff. Sometimes I found out about a mechanic by myself while messing around or watching a video of it, or somebody told me about it. Other than that, it was fine, it's not ugly and did not get in the way of the game. I never felt it was a chore navigating it during gameplay.

    PC Port: 8/10 - The game looks AND runs beautiful. I have a Ryzen 5 3600 paired with an RX 580 and the game runs at 60fps while on med-high settings, and considering the game looks amazing already, I can only think the game has been future proofed just like GTA 5 with the extended graphics list and options. My only complaint is that Rockstar Game Launcher sucks, they really need to improve this Launcher as it has caused many issues on launch date, and to this day it is wonky at times, rarely gets in the way of me enjoying the game, though.    … Expand

    - The game story is so good that i never skipped any cutscene, and character development is really good
    - Really like the protagonist Arthur Morgan (for me, he is the best video game protagonist for now) as he develop from rude and jerk to somewhat nice but still a jerk at times
    - The realism in this game is so awesome. I know some people hates the slow pacing in this game such as grabbing something has animation for it but i really enjoy those thing, giving me some sense of immersion
    - The world is so beautiful and well crafted i enjoy it by exploring the entire world and something unexpected may happen sometimes that keeps the game more engaging to play
    But of course, i giving this game 9 for a reason
    - The opimization for pc is sooo baaaad, before the patch running this game in vulkan always crashing my game
    - The epilogue area is somewhat more empty and got nothing to do than the rest of the world
    - The shooting mechanic is somewhat borrowed straight form GTA V, fells clunky at times.

    What I mean is, if there are guys and girls who, like me, have not been hooked by the game from the first hours of the game, do not give up and throw Red Dead Redemption 2 into a dark corner, give the game a chance, and somewhere after a third of the passage, the game will fully thank you for it with unexpected plot twists, deeper disclosure of the main characters of the game, "chemistry" between the characters, and so on. In general, the game is big, looks and sounds good, is filled with various references, and you want to explore it.
    If you are a fan of the Wild West, then this will be a 10 out of 10 hit for you.

    Graphics: It will be the only game to compare even the games released in the next generation.

    Animation:The animations were really well worked out and they did a good result, but NPC's facial animations could have been a bit more focused.

    Sound effects: Perfect. Needless to say a word.

    İnterface:It has a unique and understandable interface. Although the inventory part looks messy, it can be understood with a little effort.

    There are mini games if it is your taste. Shooting feels good. Animals are awesome to watch. Rain, oh my god the rain, i can sleep with the sound of the rain in this game.     The only 2 real downside:
    1. event mechanism/respawn mechanism/saving mechanism is quite frustrating, they should just use plain old saving mechanism used in other games and allow events to be replayable in the immediate, while removing completely the concept of respawning.
    2. the story is great if it was not for one thing: The WOKE element really ruins everything, it should not be there; keep your political feelings for yourself and do not put it in a game, or allow the main character to take different perspectives.

    If it was not for the above 2 problems, this game would be a real 10/10 in total.    … Expand

    Having played this game a full year after launch, I haven't experienced all the launch issues, so I can safely say this is one of the best single player games I have ever played. The story is deep and well delivered and characters are extremely nuanced. Interaction with the environment is excellent and horses' models and behaviour are the best in any game, ever.

    But there are also disadvantages - rather poor optimization. As you know, Rockstar games are famous for good optimization (example: GTA5), but this game is not for any computer.
    2. The physics of the horse is worked out at the highest level. The same can be said about the physics of weapons, it is great.
    3. The performance of the actors voicing the characters deserves praise. It's just a pity that in games from Rockstar there is no localization in terms of voice acting, but the company's own policy is already to blame.
    The game definitely left a mark on the history of game development, I would put it 10, but problems when starting the game on the PC(crashes, fps drops) do not allow me to do this.

    Great game, like seriously one of the best game I’ve ever played. Rockstar did a great job on a prequel to the first red dead, and has amazed me with its great graphics. The story amazing, the scenery is amazing, and the overall attention to detail is great. Arthur’s fight against Micah and John building his house and bringing his family back together was great. When John killing Micah wasGreat game, like seriously one of the best game I’ve ever played. Rockstar did a great job on a prequel to the first red dead, and has amazed me with its great graphics. The story amazing, the scenery is amazing, and the overall attention to detail is great. Arthur’s fight against Micah and John building his house and bringing his family back together was great. When John killing Micah was interesting, and where did Dutch go after John killed Micah? I think Dutch shot at Micah because he realized that his gang was gone because of Micah, and the deaths of a lot of the gang was in different ways, all Micah’s fault. Overall, the game is great, but it really let me down that they used bad words. If there were some bad words, I wouldn’t say much, but they used words offensive to people of the Christian faith, which was G** Dam*it. Great game, but lay down on the offensive words rockstar.     I tried to do all achievments for this but i couldn't, some of them were too boring and i didn't complet it... I reached 96% completion.

    Overrall, an amazing experience even for 60 bucks, maybe wait for a sale that gets it for 40 bucks if you don't want to pay full price.    … Expand

    Red dead redemption 2 is 1 of my favourite games. I just wish the developers (Rockstar games) gave it more love. That company has gone down hill since GTA V. Because they are now making millions by doing little to nothing they don't care for games that don't bring as much success as GTA V. The story in Red Dead 2 is amazin. The physics are also great.     This was such an experience. The settings, characters, story... everything in here is great. I've never played the first game or the Online, but to me, RDR2 is one of the best open world games. Period.

    And even the mindblowing living world wouldn't impress me too much if the story, characters, dialog and voice acting weren't well written and intriguing.
    Just like the world, this is also on a whole new level for the medium. And not just for video games, if the game's story was turned into a tv series, this would be one of the best that television has to offer. The characters are morally gray and layered with their own beliefs, opinions, struggles, strengths and shortcomings.

    RDR2 is something special that we won't see again in quite some time, definitely a modern masterpiece.    … Expand

    I don't know why didn't this game work for most of users here maybe it was an early mistake. I just finished the pre epilogue and I played with a frame rate of 60-90 the whole time with high graphics with my gtx 1660s ryzen 5 pc. Had some minor bugs but it didn't effect the gameplay at all.

    The absolute best open world game you will have played so far. The game world is beautiful, the characters are amazing. Everything and everyone can be interacted with, and the world is amazingly immersing. The main character is so relatable that after a long day of hunting, I found myself laying down to sleep after what I truly felt was a hard days work.

    I'm not really a fan of the gameplay, I think it's fine, but I really enjoy the story. I never cried over a character's death before, but this one certainly made me cry like a baby.

    Easily my favorite game of all time, great story huge very detailed open world packed with so much to explore and do. The game runs great providing you're not trying to run it on some budget gaming pc, great soundtrack and audio. The longest and best western movie I have ever played.

    Like GTA SA captures the essence of that era in the United States, and RDR2 is the embodiment of the Wild West era itself. These games were created by people who truly understand what is 'game'

    My biggest warning to anyone considering purchasing RDR2 on PC is that you need to have patience when you set it up. Take the time to go through each graphics option, compare your performance on Vulkan vs. DirectX 12, and tailor the game to your specs. Once you have the game tuned, there’s no better way to experience it than on PC.
