Apr 10, 2026How much you enjoy Raccoin: Coin Pusher Roguelike will depend on how you feel about luck determining the course of every run instead of skill. It is a roguelike, but the influence of RNG in so many ways can make it feel like it’s all up to chance instead. Because even though you are gradually unlocking new characters, coins, prizes, and such via hitting milestones, the very nature of it means that builds might end up feeling meaningless unless factors outside of your control align. It will still be fun, but it means accepting how little influence you can exert over each run.

Mar 30, 2026The shortcomings of Raccoin are, ultimately, far from game-breaking, and I still find it fun, charming, and mechanically unique: it can net you a few dozen hours of solid gameplay, easily. However, we are living through an unprecedented era of deep and vast roguelikes, many of which offer hundreds of hours of constantly evolving gameplay. Against just a handful of these more avant-garde and ambitious titles, Raccoin, despite being well-made and enjoyable, feels unessential. It may only be marginally less compelling than something like Slay the Spire 2 or Balatro, but in this time-consuming genre space, that makes a massive difference.

Apr 2, 2026Raccoin is the newest addition to the ever-growing list of gambling-themed, roguelike, combo-building games, made popular by Balatro’s success. While unique in its use of a coin pusher as its base theme, its other core mechanics feel like a cutesy new coat of paint on top of the same systems the genre has been pumping out for months. Fundamentally sound and with nothing truly wrong with it, Raccoin is a strong contender for one of the better titles in the genre, but it doesn’t provide anything truly new or exciting to help it stand apart from the rest.
