One of those games that will be remembered years down the road for anyone who plays this fine title.
-
Pin-sharp sim that's both challenging and forgiving, with a story that's not just bolted on... A true delicacy in a time of relative famine for racing sim fans, but should feature on any gamer's menu. [PC Gamer UK]
-
Stuff the storyline and just play the game.
-
If youre a racing fan, Pro Race Driver is a no-brainer. It was everything you want, and even though the story seems a bit hokey, its tolerable and doesnt break the game. Worthy of a test drive at the very least.
-
The concept of a story behind the racing is excellent, but I can't help feel that Pro Race Driver was simply pushed out the door with only minor modifications and improvements.
-
The designers have done a great job with every aspect of the game, graphics, sounds, story line, car selection, tracks, options, you name it and they have done it and presented it all to you in one well rounded and polished package.
-
Mixing an intriguing plot with exciting racing action, you cannot help but get sucked into the gameplay.
-
Computer Games MagazineIt's the kind of racing game you might fire up just to find out what happens next, rather than to go once more around the track. [July 2003, p.81]
-
The main coup of the PC version over the PS2, however, is that it that the on-track visuals have been given a massive overhaul.
-
All of the abovementioned discrepancies are outshined by the excellent in-game physics, solid damage model, excellent particle effects, good sounds, and beautifully designed racing tracks.
-
Considering the less than optimal frame rate, lack of mirrors, arcade-ish physics and rather subdued FF wheel support, I'm thinking that the audience for the PC version won't be very large.
