The best thing I can say about Portal Knights is that it is an effective off-shoot of the juggernaut that is Minecraft and Microsoft’s hit title could actually learn a thing or two from Keen Games’ effort here.

Cooperative and family-friendly sandbox adventure with a few roleplay elements without strategic depth, but with an entertaining build mode.

TheThis game is now (as of this review date) 3 1/2 years old, and is still a solid game. I continue to come back and play it frequently. The developer continues to put out new DLC content, and are responsive to user feedback (bug reports, suggestions, etc.) I have over 300 hours in the game, after re-installing because of a system crash. Previous install had 500+ hours.

The game runs very well on an i5 laptop, with good graphic quality.

Split-screen is a huge bonus.
DLCs could be a bit cheaper, but a strong 7/10 nonetheless.

A sandbox type game with RPG-like character build depth and controls that are actually pretty good? Sign me up. The art style can be hit-or-miss but I like it because things are easily discernible within the game. The crafting is cool, the different environments are all great, and the difficulty is just right for a casual sandbox game. There's just nothing to really do after you hit a certain point in the game, which is a big bummer. Full Review »
