While it stays true to the roots of the classic novel and original films, the game lacks creativity, particularly with respect to puzzles, visuals and combat. When all is said and done, Planet of the Apes simply isnt very entertaining.
-
Whatever redeeming aspects it may have had are marred by a plethora of inconveniences and annoyances that round out boring, repetitive play.
-
The manner in which the screen moves can actually make you sick, and the enjoyment isn't enough to overcome that aspect.
-
This is a pretty bad game that has endless sprawling caves as gameplay areas and equally dull gameplay within them.
-
PC GamerIts exactly the kind of cookie-cutter movie spin-off we could easily survive without. [Holiday 2001, p.88]
-
Planet of the Apes has no compelling action, no puzzling adventure, and no interesting places to explore. It is gaming stripped of virtually everything that separates games from work.
-
Computer Gaming WorldAs a game, Planet of the Apes fails utterly. As a skeet target, it succeeds in spades. Someone shout, "Pull!" [May 2002, p.84]
