Mar 28, 2015Awsome epic RPG, this works so well even with the old school graphics, played 20 hours and Im still starved for more, this is the kind of game u will binge, so take time from work and friends, get food and refreshment and enjoy. We need to suport game like this, we need more, I want more. Also thank you kickstarter supporters for making this possible.
-
Mar 28, 2015This is one hell of a game. Definitely one of the best RPGs since BG series ended. It totally blows away crappy RPGs like DA:I. This game totally worths it. If you like the older Infinity Engine titles, then you are going to love this.

Mar 28, 2015This game has great game play and awesome storytelling. The writing is very deep and engaging, and once you get the feel of the controls in combat and the main story line, you are sucked into the world completely. I have not had this much fun with a isometric RPG since BG2! It's a instant hit and a classic! I wish more publishers would green light studios to create more games like this!
-
Mar 28, 2015This game is literally amazing. The art-design is fantastic, the dialogues are very well written and even on the lowest difficult it requires some thinking before every engagement.
Congratulations Obsidian to this wonderful game! -

Mar 28, 2015This is a true return to form for Obsidian. It's everything I hoped for from an isometric CRPG in 2015. The writing is excellent, the combat is challenging and surprisingly deep (even on normal), and the presentation is lush and alluring. This is the best game I've played in years.
-
Mar 28, 2015PoE is a great example of a game with strong gameplay and storytelling features. Its challenging and complex, but the tooltips and well organized journal will get you through it.
There are bugs, most are just annoying but you will have to deal with them. Still only about half as buggy as you would expect from a kickstarter game. -

Mar 27, 2015THIS IS SO AWESOME!!! i can't really describe my feelings...that's like orgasm for an old school player!! that is a must have game, you can.t miss it.
-
Mar 27, 2015You know how you loved things as a kid, and usually when you go back and revisit them you realize how they were not as great as you remembered?
Not the case here even slightly. Every fond memory of AD&D, BG, Icewind Dale, have been lived up to and then some.
Perfect immerse fantasy RPG. -

Mar 27, 2015As someone with little to no cRPG experience I felt I should make the jump with this game. Lesson learned. I got very little from my experience. Though, if you know you're a fan of cRPGs, especially Baldur's Gate, I suspect that you'll love it.

Mar 27, 2015I've been waiting for this game for over 10 years and Obsidian delivered beyond my expectations. When I realised I'd spent 40 minutes on the character creation screen alone, I knew I had "found my game". Been a long time since that's happened.
-
Mar 27, 2015First time I felt compelled to write a review for a game on Metacritic but this game warrants it. This is the kind of wonderful, painstakingly crafted CRPG that truly does not come around very often. Buy...This...Game. Lastly, anyone that would give this game a 0 just to bring down the score is simply a moron.
-
Mar 27, 2015It is very surprising and interesting that Infinity Engine game mechanics in 1999 (Baldur's Gate series) can still make a game made 16 years later very enjoyable. Suffice to say if you've enjoyed playing Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale you'll be right at home. I'm glad I've contributed, wish I could have contributed more.

Mar 27, 2015This 10/10 is for the best writing and rpg-presentation of any game in history. Game-mechanics are better than dnd, but still need both refining and further development.

Mar 27, 2015I recently finished the Baldur's gate Enhanced Edition, and then comes Pillars of Eternity.
It's SO GOOD, i can't believe someone dit it : a game as good as Baldur's gate 2, with a real story and stunning gameplay.
Thank you Obsidian for making my dream come true ! -

Mar 27, 2015It's big, beautiful and lovingly crafted.
I'm 8 hours and I'm hooked, if you love fantasy then do yourself a favour and give this a much needed try.
Losing 1 point due to no coop. The only thing that would make this better is being able to take a friend along with you, even as just a drop in fable 2 style coop. -

Mar 27, 2015Simply LEGENDARY !!! This is what Baldur's Gate 3 would have been if that game was ever made. Same team, same type of isometric RPG. Epic writing, excellent story and game mechanics, superb Italian Tranlation.
I don't understand why you wouldn't buy this game if you loved Baldur's Gate. -
Mar 27, 2015This game will make you shed tears of joy if you are one of those who grew up playing infinity engine games like Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale. If you are not, but you like complex and rewarding mechanics, riveting story and beautiful fantasy world, then you should check out why people and reviewers are going crazy obout this game. You won't be disappointed.

Mar 27, 2015I have played Baldur's Gate I and II, Icewind Dale I and II plus many other games of the same ilk. If you've loved any of these game, you'll love this, the developers have done a stellar job. I've been waithing for a game like this for ages, pure nostalgia with next gen graphics.
-
Mar 27, 2015I played Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2. These two sagas are the best thing I ever played on pc. Now I must add at these two even Pillars of Eternity.
It's an amazing game, period. I hope to see future expansions and sequels. -
Mar 27, 2015What Baldur's Gate once was in 1998 Pillars of Eternity is today. Outstanding game, if you loved Baldur's Gate buy it now, without thinking. You will not be disappointed.

-
Mar 27, 2015Plain and simple:
It's an rpg, a trip back to the glory days, when games where made to entertain and not turned into franchises with season passes, ingame Shops, day 1 dlcs etc.
And nothing like Bioware's dating simulators of late.
Great times, Divinity: Original Sin, Wasteland 2, now Pillars of Eternity and Torment on the horizon. -
Mar 27, 2015Best RPG since Baldur`s gate and Planescape. First great game in years. Just what i wont. If you care much about visuals or graphics, You have to change your priorities. :)
-
Mar 27, 2015Finally a true story-driven RPG. An instant classic. This is the Baldur's Gate 3 that we never had. It brings back memories but also takes the genre one step forward. Good job Obsidian!
-
Mar 27, 2015This game is the successor to the old Infinity Engine games, without a doubt. When the combat starts the game screams BG / IWD at you. It just feels right.
-

-
Mar 27, 2015Great game! Exactly what I wanted from Obsidian when I pledged. If you remember enjoying the infinity engine games, this is a game you need to purchase.
-
Mar 27, 2015This is by far the best RPG since Baldurs Gate 2. No modern AAA crap. Wonderfull graphics, awesome music and great gameplay. This game is huge. If you liked the old RPGs lige Baldurs Gate or Icewind Dale and if you agree that all Dragon Age titles after part one were pure crap than you will love this game.
-
Mar 27, 2015
-
Mar 27, 2015Brings back all the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale Memories, but clearly improved from a graphical and sound perspective - and it's huge, but atmospheric nevertheless!
The Story - as far as I can tell - seems somwhat darker, too, on par with the Witcher or Dragon Age: Origins. -
Mar 27, 2015It would take my far too many words to sum up this game. If you have played Baldur's Gate or Icewindale. This game is simply beautiful - the developers should be simply proud of themselves. It is a glorious tribute to games of this genre.
-
Mar 27, 2015
-
Mar 27, 2015Truly a successor of old school cRPGs. Incredibly beautiful locations, nice and stylish characters models and animations, captivating story with unexpected turns. All details in the game are done excactly as they should be done in a classic cRPG. By all means classic reborn and it's one of few true cRPGs in the recent times.
-
Mar 27, 2015Easily 10/10 buy it now and ignore the trolls below. be victorious against the trolls below and rate a good score if you really played the game. you now it is good.

Mar 27, 2015Finally a game that brings back the good old memories of great games, which we lost for so long. It feels like a mix of Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment to me, but it takes the best things and makes the overall experience even better. The graphics are lovely and fitting and the depth of the game is breathtaking.
-
Mar 27, 2015i have never written a user review on metacritic because i'm lazy but this game is way too damn good not for me to make a ranking and tell you guys this is literally on par with BG2... the most epic rpg ever.... get it if you're into old school rpg, i can't say anything bad about the game because its really that damn good.
-

-
Mar 26, 2015I had this fear that the game will suck, or It will be missing big on some areas... but thankfully i was wrong
Even the Graphics are good that i was sure it would like diablo II, so they can deliver all that game-play... -
Mar 26, 2015This is how crpg should look like. Awesome story and mechanics, a tons of text, great characters, tactical combat and no "modern" crap, like dialogue wheel, romances etc. Real game, for real old-school players.
-
Mar 26, 2015Amazing RPG. If you old enough to play Baldurs gate and icewind dale you going to love Pillars of Eternity. I actually think its much better then the latest Dragon age. A must buy for any old school RPG fan.
-
Mar 26, 2015This game is absolutely fantastic, but on that note this game it's not for everyone. If all you care about are super 3-D graphics and little to no story, your not going to found that here go somewhere else.

Mar 26, 2015A great, fun game that reminds me of the old days. There are a few things that need to be tweaked and polished but overall it's a solid release that has kept me occupied for hours already. There have been many failed "Baldurs Gate spiritual successors" - this one is the real deal.
-

Mar 26, 2015This is BG3 for me. Different mechanics, obviously different lore, but the exact same feel. Better writing. If you liked either BG, or any of the IE, games, I don't see how you could find this game anything less than well worth your money.
-
Mar 26, 2015I created a Metacritic account tonight to specifically give this game a 10 out of 10. Pillars of Eternity really does capture the feeling of adventure that few games since Baldurs Gate has been able to achieve. Thank you Obsidian for a job well done!

Mar 26, 2015Outstanding masterpiece... I have played it for only a few hours and it was more than enough to realize how much we have been lobotomized by the 'modern' rpgs. I will update this when I finish it, but for now I can't think of a better tribute to all the great classics we loved, while improving almost every aspect of these games.
-
Mar 26, 20159.5/10 very very solid so far, i got sucked in a minute played 7h strait, so much stuff to do, i love it, brings back so much good memories of old IE games - u cant but notice that

Mar 26, 2015I've played only 5 hours this far, but i absolutely love it. It feels like Baldurs Gate 2, with some thoughtful improvements and it's the first RPG for years which makes me really excited, it's a shame I have to go to work tomorrow. Buy the game and support the devs, great work!
-
Mar 26, 2015Obsidian managed to deliver a stellar game, looks excellent, sounds great and the writing is fantastic.
Best RPG that has come out since the days of old Infinity classics without a shadow of a doubt. -
Mar 26, 2015Can I just say YES!
Yes. yes, yes!
What a fantastic reminder of my youth this is quickly turning in to. I'm feeling the same euphoric game play I had when traversing Shadows of Ahm for the first time, all the while now being pleasant surprised by excellent mechanics.
Inventory and party management is excellent.
Lovely audio.
Classic graphics with a stunning atmosphere. -
Mar 26, 2015The wait was worth it. 2 years after the kickstarter campaign, here it is. And it is brilliant, flawless. A masterpiece... The only problem I have, is I can't play it as I want. If I do so, i'll loose my job, some of my friends, 3 or 4 months of real life, and maybe my wife ... Hollydddaaayyys ! Here I am !
-
Mar 26, 2015A brilliant adventure and a deep rich atmosphere. Marvellously crafted RPG. One of the best games in years. Any epithets are not enough. If you like deep and rich games - play this one.
-
Mar 26, 2015
-
Mar 26, 2015Feels like a horrible cash in on early 2000/late 1990 nostalgia. Fundamentally the game is an isometric party based system with a strong plot, but certain flaws drag it down, and the inclusion of a kickstarter only achievement (this coming from a guy who kickstarted) is a bunch of bull.
-
Mar 26, 2015one of the best rpgs i have ever played.gameplay is amazing, the combat aswell.never thought it would be sooo good.i love it so much.i am not sure about romances but i hope they put them in an Expansion.Awesome game ,really.thank you Obsidian!

Jul 7, 2015Pillars is a title that should make old-schoolers happy while still offering a solid core game, story, and a rich setting for new-schoolers.
-
May 25, 2015Pillars of Eternity stands on its own merits without resorting to nostalgia too much. Truly a CRPG masterpiece, the game offers old school, real-time strategic combat, and a vivid world to explore. Not only do you get an overall well-made experience, but also a challenge you haven't seen since the 90's.

Games Master UKMay 24, 2015A sprawling game in a familiar setting, and a clever tune-up for the cRPG. Just what the backers hoped for. [June 2015, p.74]
