Feb 27, 2020I started this game 3 times, but I couldn't get in it. Maybe if it actually came out in 2005, but it was not engaging enough for me now.

May 30, 2015Pillars of Boredom , that is what they should have called this merry go round , old retro game. Because that is what this overpriced copy of Baldur's Gate 2 updated game is. It's a pitiful game. Really I felt so stupid paying all that money for it. Since I got the Witcher 3 the Wild Hunt , I deleted Pillars of Eternity and I probably won't ever play it again for Eternity.

Jan 16, 2023It's a game for the tasteless and nostalgia obsessed. It's a terrible copy of Baldur's Gate.

Apr 10, 2018Lost opportunity, that's what comes in my mind playing pillars of eternity. The combat system is terrible. U never know if the action you have set for a character will be performed. When you use a spell you don't know if you're close enough to cast. Companions ai is inexistent.........chaotic unsympathetic and irritating. PLS gimme back dex wisdom strenght intelligence charisma and constitution !!

Mar 28, 2015Antiquated graphics. Quirky combat interface with no AI. Interesting lore & story line. Feel like I wasted $44 to purchase this on Steam. Would have expected more. If you are in this for the Lore, then you'll love it. If playability, user interface, and game experience are important, then I'd pass.

Apr 1, 2015It's an okay game, but not a spiritual successor to the IE games. Really disappointed, but life moves on. Getting ready to start another replay of Baldur's Gate to satisfy the itch.

Dec 24, 2015Certaintly not a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate and not a good game either. It isn't even the classic style RPG that it wants to be, it is just a dumbed down RPG for a modern audience with an isometric view.

Mar 29, 2015Had to restart my game twice because I accidentally double clicked a weapon in my inventory and it broke the game. I hope the devs fix it.
Rumor has it that it cant be fixed -

Apr 4, 2015Pro's:
- decent story
Contra:
- outdated graphics
- very little voice acting
- mediocre combat
- no companions ai
- bland companions
- Obsidian changing a part of the game because some people felt offended
Can't recommend the game. Won't buy any other game from a developer without any integrity like Obsidian. -

Jul 7, 2015Pillars is a title that should make old-schoolers happy while still offering a solid core game, story, and a rich setting for new-schoolers.
-
May 25, 2015Pillars of Eternity stands on its own merits without resorting to nostalgia too much. Truly a CRPG masterpiece, the game offers old school, real-time strategic combat, and a vivid world to explore. Not only do you get an overall well-made experience, but also a challenge you haven't seen since the 90's.
-
Games Master UKMay 24, 2015A sprawling game in a familiar setting, and a clever tune-up for the cRPG. Just what the backers hoped for. [June 2015, p.74]
