Aug 28, 2015One might feel a bit "bummed out" by the episodic nature of the expansion (with Part II expected to come out in the winter, no less), but the fact remains that The White March - Part I is an excellent addition all-in-all, providing us with quality content that expands on what we already loved about the core game.
-
Aug 26, 2015The White March is a great expansion - the content is high quality, offers a cool new atmosphere and creates a challenge even for the most experienced players. Pillars of Eternity was an excellent game and this expansions makes it even better. Of course people who weren't convinced by the basic game won't suddenly become fans but everyone else should definitely play The White March.
-
Aug 25, 2015The White March - Part 1 is a great first expansion for Pillars of Eternity fans that have been in need of new content. A lengthy main quest, varied side tasks, and an enthralling narrative combine to make a worthwhile expansion for veteran players.
-
Sep 14, 2015In White March we find a quality expansion with a great attention to detail but a bit limited by its nature of being an addition to the main campaign instead of a epilogue or continuation. The highlights would be the evolution of the combat system, enemy IA, and general improvements, making PoE a even better game.
-
Aug 30, 2015The White March improves the game in some areas and offers an interesting story, but it may disappoint veteran players.
-
CD-ActionNov 14, 2015The main storyline could have been longer and more thrilling. Despite information that both parts are not going to be closely linked, the ending of Part 1 seems to be a prelude to something larger. [11/2015, p.46]
-
Sep 30, 2015A lot of content for all the fans and an appreciated level up in terms of difficulty of the gameplay. It’s bad that the pathfinding problems weren’t fixed.
-
Sep 16, 2015Albeit lacking in story, White March Part 1 offers a plethora of new content in items, combat and character customization.
-
Oct 6, 2015A bit more emphasis on story or perhaps more variety in the combat situations would be welcome shots in the arm.
-
Sep 16, 2015The fact that you have to reload an old save instead of continuing the story is a tad disappointing, but The White March Part 1 makes up for it with its excellent questing, the myriad new gameplay improvements and the 15 hour length campaign filled with new material.
-
Sep 4, 2015The White March is a good first step in expanding the Pillars of Eternity universe. There are many combat opportunities and maybe less dialogue or exploration, but it still is an amazing old school rol game.
-
Aug 31, 2015More of what you loved, but no earth-shattering experiences.
-
Sep 4, 2015The White March focuses on the combat, and that might be good if that's what you loved about Pillars of Eternity. The narration is still sound, but you'll spend more time fighting than ever.
-
Sep 2, 2015It’s not essential, and not close to the best that Obsidian is capable of, but it’s another perfectly enjoyable few hours of looting and adventuring.
-
Sep 15, 2015The White March Part I adds another twenty hours or so of content, and has the same polish present in Pillars. The biggest criticism is its awkward insertion into the main game, feeling more like an unnecessary addition than an essential piece of Eora’s canon.
-
Sep 1, 2015The White March is an expansion of gorgeous new landscapes, new companions, and new challenges. It should push players out of their combat comfort zones, and is a fine excuse for some familiar PoE questing, but doesn’t yet feel essential.
-
Aug 28, 2015More of the same, but with an increased focus on combat and dungeons. If that appeals, The White March may be worth a visit.
-
Sep 7, 2015The first part of Pillars of Eternity's White March expansion is weak on story and heavy on combat.
-
Sep 9, 2015It’s more of the same, just colder and thinner.
-
Nov 1, 2015First part of the White March expansion, even though solid and with fantastic icy locations, is definitely not amazing. The transition from story to chain of combat scenarios is a step in the wrong direction.
-
Sep 25, 2015Focusing on combat, dull story and conflicts with immersing players into the game make the first part of The White March expansion a wasted opportunity. Nevertheless it offers a good entertainment for those who still can not get enough of the original game (and its combat system).
-
Sep 10, 2015Even though it gives you a chance to revisit one of the best RPGs in years, The White March Part 1 ultimately feels like a missed opportunity to expand that greatness into new territory.

Dec 7, 2015The issue is, it’s just so unremarkable. There’s no great depth, no interesting meta-narrative, no unique pull. It’s just a bit more Pillars – a section you’d not have minded in the main game, but never remembered a while after. Which makes it hard to get particularly excited about – especially at £11.
