Feb 11, 2015Phantom Breaker's best features are its multiplayer modes, especially the cooperative ones. While it's disappointing that the game doesn't have online play, the chaotic fun of throwing multiple fighters into the mix makes up for it.
-
Feb 9, 2015The setting and tone of Phantom Breaker is quite forgettable, particularly for those un-initiated in the way of the Otaku. However, for the most part it’s still hectic and mindless fun.

Feb 6, 2015I think when a game is ported to a more powerful platform, it’s a great opportunity to truly make the game shine, not make it worse by omitting key functionalities. Still, for fans of the genre who love beating down countless enemies as cute anime girls and don’t shy away from a serious challenge, they can expect to have a good time with Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds.
-
Feb 9, 2015Battle Grounds isn’t going to convert anyone who sees beat ‘em ups as mindless entertainment. Yet even when its ideas are half-baked in execution, the overwhelming style and ambition here make for one of the genre’s more memorable entries in recent years.
-
Feb 1, 2015As PC ports go, it’s pretty mundane in features, and the lack of online cooperative play hurts it, but the game, despite some of the shortcomings with its combat, is fun and charming that scratches an itch for people who like levelling up characters to take them through the difficulties, and as for what is available on the platform, you can do much worse than Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds.
-
Jan 23, 2015With a tidal wave of cutesy nostalgia and high-octane action thrown into the mix, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds ends up being a relatively fun beat 'em up.
