Along with the captivating Roman setting, Galilea/Antik has succeeded in humanising a grand strategy game. That's a tremendous accomplishment all on its own.

A goldmine for fans of historically authentic strategy gaming. [Mar 2004, p.78]
  3. I would classify this as a game that was a fantastic idea containing a ton of great, raw material. Unfortunately, it is a little rough in the execution.

If there's a lesson to be learned from Pax Romana, it's this: give us all the finger-licking detail you can pack in, but don't ruin it with a poorly conceived interface. It sunk "Master of Orion III," and it sinks Pax Romana in the final analysis.

It contains features any die-hard--and patient--historical strategy gamer can get excited about. [Mar 2004, p.91]

Finding opponents (on the internet) proved a chore given that there's no central lobby or matchmaking service - you have to know the IP address of another player. [Feb 2004, p.67]
  7. While the intent was a good one, the execution leaves something to be desired. Pax Romana has deep content, but the gameplay is a little on the weak side.
  8. Even the tutorials are riddled with poor grammar, grainy, pixilated text, and bugs. If I were Emperor of Rome I’d feed this game to the lions.
  9. There's little reward for all the indirect management you have to deal with, and the terrible interface sabotages the whole affair.

The learning curve, hampered by comically poor documentation and badly-executed tutorials, is almost vertical.
  11. I have no patience for a game that has as many bugs as this one does. There’s no excuse for it except laziness or just a sheer contempt of the game playing public.
  12. Sounds great on paper, but performs abysmally. There is a slight hope for redemption in the entertaining political pieces, but the non-participary combat and poor command system get in the way too much for a player to enjoy the game for more than five minutes.
  13. I don’t often enjoy using scrap paper and making my own charts for a RTS game. These kinds of things should be already built-in. I can’t see anyone but extremely diehard Roman Empire gamers with a lot of time and patience on their hands enjoying this game.
  14. It’s a horrible game, plain and simple. It’s filled with obvious flaws that should have never been included in the initial development, let alone make it into the final product.

Shame I can't find it anywhere, if anyone knows where to buy or download it please let me know. It has great political system which makes it interesting for for anyone (Except people who used to easy mode or spoilers and hints everywhere) Would recommend it to anyone who like strategy games with a challenge.
