Outriders Worldslayer follows in the same vein of Outriders, quite literally: one year later, both its strengths (tight gameplay, loot management) and flaws (poor enemy variety, lackluster boss design, weak plot) have stayed exactly the same. Very likely you’ll enjoy this expansion if you liked the base game, but if you didn’t this won’t make you change your mind.

Worldslayer is such an integral part of Outriders that its almost unthinkable to play this game without it. The endgame content that has been overhauled is complex and rich enough to keep most of the players invested for a long time.

Fans of Outriders should be happy with Wordslayer, as it’s still a very enjoyable shooter and the expansion’s story, while silly, does its job of motivating you to push forward. It’s a shame that it ends so quickly and the endgame – while slightly improved over the base game – probably won’t engage you for very long.

Outriders: Worldslayer continues the base game’s trends in every single way possible. Its story is bad, the antagonist is boring, and the zones feel wasted, but none of that matters because Outriders: Worldslayer still has some of the most interesting gameplay systems of any loot game. And most importantly, it’s still a lot of fun.

It is, however, still Outriders. Worldslayer improves a strong shooter that already had some cool and weird ideas, enhancing its challenge and bringing a lot of small improvements that make it more enjoyable to play overall. But the expansion doesn't add any especially new ideas, it just cleans up and adds to what's already there. These are a series of incremental improvements and additions that make a weird, chaotic shooter worth revisiting a year after its release--just don't expect anything world-shaking.

Expanding on the already fun combat while offering a new and improved endgame mode, Worldslayer is worth heading back to Enoch for, even if the story told on the trip is a forgettable one.

The bones of Worldslayer are excellent, but the story and end game content are greatly lacking.

Outriders Worldslayer is an enjoyable but unambitious expansion that improves the endgame while falling short in many of the same areas as the base game before it. The story is still pretty lackluster, most boss fights are irritating slogs, and even with the added endgame grind there isn’t a ton of content to chew on, but most of what’s been added is at least ton of fun. The improved options with Pax Points, Ascension Points, and Apocalypse items are a stat-obsessed player’s dream and had me tweaking my build for maximum devastation, and the Trial of Tarya Gratar endgame dungeon is challenging and memorable if also a bit repetitive. Still, getting another chance to run amok on Enoch was time well spent.

With its fluid and dynamic combat, Apocalypse Gear, Pax Skill Trees, Ascension Points, and loot-specific farming, Outriders: Worldslayer brings the quality of life improvements and advanced customization that begs players to return to Enoch. While some troubles from the base game bleed into Outriders: Worldslayer, especially with a rushed story and spotty character development, the game nevertheless offers an exhilarating looter-shooter experience that deserves mention.

Outriders: Worldslayer is an admirable attempt to breathe new life into a solid but flawed experience. It succeeds mostly in making the problems more apparent.

For all its inconsistency, Outsiders still boasts some of the most intense and exciting PvE shooting around - just sometimes it’s you in a puddle on the floor instead of the waves of nameless goons. It’s silly and nerdy and dark and takes no prisoners as it violently demands your attention from start to finish.

Outriders: Worldslayer brings a solid new direction in what the endgame should look like for People Can Fly's latest IP. It features a much more refined gameplay loop along with dozens of new loot to chase. Hardcore players should be happy, except for the awkward limitations linked to the city-mode of Tarya Gratar.

The devs hyped up the trials to be awesome. You meet such groundbreaking foes such as reskinned brood mothers, awesome lagspikes, server disconnections and much much more. Full Review »
