Wow. Just..Wow. I'm not so much scared as I am just shocked about all that went down in this dlc. You see through the eyes Of Waylon who is working at the asylum when things go to..well...sh*t. You. like Old boy MIles, you try to escape using nothing but a camera you found to record things going on and to see in the dark, incappable of combat yet again. Through Waylon's eyes you adventure through different parts of the asylum you were not able to explore as MIles, and even get to go back through areas you did go through as Miles. The night Waylon is trying to escape is also the same night that MIles arrives. Now you don't get to see Miles but if you've played his story...well you know what winds up happening with him. You'll see many familiar faces of the insane patients. and even dealing with the dreaded Walrider. compared to the original story I can tell you this DLC is alot gruesomer, it delves deeper into whats going on at the asylum. I promise there will be moments where you'll be saying "WTF" making this dlc far more better. I enjoyed this DLC and highly recommend it to anyone who loved Outlast and are looking for one more good adventure through a asylum dealing with INSANE patients...and the WALRIDER. Expand

Gawk, this was a wild ride. I watched Pewdiepie's playthrough of this particular DLC (as well as the actual game). There aren't too many companies that would dare dabble in the things Outlast's DLC had, it's even more shocking and creepy than the game itself. I loved it, and it absolutely is worth playing, especially if you like horror-story based games. 9.5/10

This is a rare horror game that doesn't rely on jump scares to do its scaring. The DLC improves on all fronts what was already a good game just wish it was longer! The environments were stellar creepy!

It's more Outlast, and that isn't a bad thing. A lot of the disturbing story elements and imagery get ramped up a few notches from pretty damn creepy to flat out disturbing and disgusting. If you liked the original game and want more you've got it.

Extremely good DLC, I highly recommend it if you enjoyed the original Outlast. This is a great addition to the original game, while still being only 2-3 hours long. It is able to handle the hide-and-seek, light puzzle solving, and some platforming quite nicely. I wouldn't say it's better OR scarier than the original but it makes up for the lack-luster ending half of the base game. I Really enjoyed the first Outlast, and i had to play this DLC, It's good for a dlc, I't doesn't bring nothing new for the game mechanics, the new Stalkers are not so memorable, but still is cool, and one part of the game really drives you insane.
The ending in this game is great, it should have been the ending of the original Outlast

Red Barrels delivers again. Found it even better than the original. Grisly, Hardcore, in your face horror. Love the setting and the characters. There are some scenes that will stick with you. Hello there. Did you miss me? Here we are with the Whistleblower review... an add-on to the Outlast game, that blows... literally. This stuff blows. It's so bad, it makes me laugh. Who’d want to be a whistle-blower at this f***ed up place, seriously … Then again, without heroes willing to put their own lives and well-being first, who knows what kind of nefarious things would still be going on around the world. With that in mind, I felt slightly more attuned to playing as an unlucky whistle-blower, as compared to being an incredibly brave reporter. With that in mind, I felt slightly more attuned to playing as an unlucky whistle-blower, as compared to being an incredibly brave reporter. Technically in the first game you actually have a choice as to whether to go into the Asylum or not, whereas for poor Waylon Park, it’s literally a case of endless bad luck, with the occasional sprinkling of good fortune in his gory escape.

Everything I chillingly enjoyed about the main game was present in the Whistleblower DLC, from the tense and immersive environments, to the macabre and downright scary weirdos and psychos you encounter. Don’t expect anything, mechanically speaking, to be different, new or improved. This is very much a case of the developers giving us about three hours of additional gruesome content to wade through, if you dare. Again, I have to say that playing on a PC with a large-monitor, totally in the dark, with headphones, and alone – it surely is still one of, if not THE scariest experience you can currently have in the gaming world. The only reason I’m not awarding nine-points in this review is because there was slightly disappointingly nothing particularly new or surprising in the DLC, just more of the same brilliant game. Can’t wait for whatever these guys do next.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Um... The low critic review score really emphasizes the key concept of this game - love isn't for everyone ;). The developers are really talented in creating a creepy atmosphere. This is even more scary than the original one with a twisted mind of dark humour. Enjoy your trip, a romantic love story is awaiting for you.

Really appreciate the guts of developers, who boost the game to such a high, without worrying about complaints of so many terrible, wierd and nasty scenes.

Way too short. Just like the main game. This DLC is about 2 hours long, and it costs 9€. That is way too much for the amount of gameplay. On top of that, there are about two enemies that you have to hide from, and that's it. The environments, like the main game, are bland and uninspired, 100% linear and copy pasted. Awful.

Pretty good rated it 1 score lower than the original outlast.

Negatives: - Shorter than first game. - Less mix of environments/events. - Overused the tension, especially at the start with the surgical saw guy, didn't leave enough calm periods inbetween. - Less obvious with paths, harder to find way around, especially the climbing up onto things. Positives: + Good to see

I though Outlast was amazing and gave it a 9/10. Whistleblower has the exact same gameplay and mechanics as the base game, only you get to view the story from the perspective of someone else in the asylum and get to encounter a few new psychos too.
If you enjoyed and wanted more Outlast, here it is!
My only real complaint would be a few very noticeably scripted events that I rarely seen

Whistleblower just finished a tale of uncommon insanity. He raised the level of brutality, and explained several mysteries from Outlast's plot. However, the number of manhunts with psychopaths has been unnecessarily increased, and maybe there is too much of a rove in the game's setting. Otherwise, Whistleblower is brutal and an (un)enjoyable experience.
