Outer Terror is a beautiful love letter to both old-school horror and early gaming; if you love both, you'll love it.

Its flaws can bog down the experience somewhat, but in the end, Outer Terror's unique horror spin on the rouge-lite genre makes it a breath of fresh air. Intuitive gameplay, retro visuals, and a chilling atmosphere are seemingly the recipe for lots of blood and guts, but also for a lot of fun.

Outer Terror is a fantastic homage to pulp horror with some strong points in review. The gameplay is largely enjoyable and there some great quality levels and synergy between the game, missions, and side quests. However with a little more to do on each level the game could be great, but at the moment, it often feels like you’re just running back and forth.

The game brings out a bunch of fresh new ideas to the genre that other games (such as VS) don't have. For example quests, objectives, stories, and most importantly, co-op gameplay. I think these factors separate the game from it's competition a bit.

The main draw back of the game that you will hear a lot about is the bugs, but it seems the game is getting post launch support. The game was made by a solo-dev, so obviously some things bled through the cracks. It seems that the game has been getting patches pretty often though, fixing a lot of what was originally broken in the game.

Overall, OT is made for horror and survivor-like (VS-like?) fans. If you're a fan of either, this is a game for you.

This is a definitive indie horror classic, come to life. Playable comic & Pixel juke dash game of tag.

For people that love Crimsonland or Bullet heavens this is right up your alley.

-Great concept with the hooror comic book style storeylines

-Quests are varied and engaging and new with each story run

-The body horror is kinda insane along with the detailed enemy types

-10 playable characters to play around with (Paul Main for sure, just hope his power gets buffed more in a new update)

-Excellent graphics & pixel art, especially retro scanlines and the upgrades are a bonus for new kinds of sessions.

    -Oozes 1990's horror vibe.

This needs a bit more seasoning: easy 7.5, solid 8/10 game, and should be a should be a HARD 8.5, definitely worth your time as an indie game.

Would love to see, new questlines in new chapters and more upgrades for the store!!

    Very well made game.

Its going for somethingthe game is a beautiful disaster, its def not vampire survior and I don't think it will ever be, and that is fine. Its going for something else that I think can be better than that game.

It has a whole lot of bugs and UI is jank but this really feels like an arcade cab come to life, like me and my buddy and pop in two quarters at the local and crash on some monsters.

I feel that the mid scoring is kinda on point for this, but its also very lofi on purpose, its build for people that are in their late 30s that understand when crappy fun undercooked games were all the rage

I hope they keep working on more levels and I would love to buy a comic or watch a anime show based on these characters, its also cool that they represented a ton of races in the character selects and its not just random white dudes one and two.

I want more, and people should buy this game becuase there is a market for this hardcore gore stuff but its not for this soft gen of folks nowadays. we need more hardcores like this one

The community seems chill and likeminded

Co-Op game works great locally and over Steam Remote Play, it actually offers a cool couch co-op experience with the storylines.

Outer Terror does a great job of showing that it has real roots in the horror fandom that true horror fans can appreciate.

    - Has 20 minute gameplay loops so can play in small burst
    - Stages have missions/quests you can take on which sometimes add to the lore of the scenario or have some funny or weird things that happen. Fun way to break up the gameplay.
    - All characters seem to have different specials I am still experimenting with.
    - The art style is neat and every scenario feels like a call back to some 70/80’s horror movie.
    - Co-op is rad.

Overall, Outer Terror sets out what it achieves to do, but falters a bit on it's way there.

The pros of Outer Terror cannot be understated, it's missions, stories, and twin-stick shooter style of gameplay gives it a nice distinction from other games within it's own genre.

    Pros:

    - Co-op is an amazing addition
    - 5 unique stories that switch up gameplay.
    - Many characters
    - Quests in each story make it seem there is a bunch to discover

    Cons:
    - Lack of Arcade mode to see how long you can purely survive for.
    - One of the levels lacks a boss which is a bit odd.
    - On release a few bugs seemed to slip through, but the developer seems to be fixing them with quick patches.

    surreal environments and enemies
    Characters for everyone
