May be surprising to some that it was given such a high rating for being a text sim but for any that have played it more than a week it is dollar for dollar one of the best purchases you will ever make. This is a fantastic game. Not only is it immersive, it holds up with the best games of all time. People can complain that it's not graphical or "pretty" enough, but they don't need to play a game like this. It's for people who like thinking games and who are seeking an experienced that's customizable and unlike anything else out there.

If you're tired of button mashing games that require better reflexes than brains than OOTP is the simulation for you. With nearly an unlimited number of gameplay options the simulation's re-playablility is a HUGE positive. Give the demo a try and I think you'll agree that this simulation blows the sox of all the other baseball titles on the market.

This is a major advance on OOTP2006 which in itself was a major advance on 6.5 - the graphics were brought into the 21st century and the scope for customising this game make it the most played in my collection.

There is some apparent ill will toward sports text sims in the comments here, but I would actually rate this as the best computer game I've ever played. You do need to care about the fine points of putting together a winning baseball franchise, and this game handles it with creativity and attention to detail that is completely missing from most other games in the genre.

    Good, but not great.
Definately not a better game than Half-Life 2.
This is one of the best basball sims out there, but still is light-years of the majesty of games such as starcraft and HL2. A sim cannot ever beat those games, because it requires little, if any creative input. No art direction is needed, no character development, no cinematics, nothing to compare with the other games

At first appearance I was a little intimidated, basic graphics and a lot of stats but once I got over the steep learning curve I simply cannot stop playing. Undoubtedly the finest sports sim ever. I feel like I'm in charge linke no other game.

The most in-depth baseball sim I've ever played. Most games I play for a month or two before going on to another game, but with OOTP I've been playing since it came out. And I played the last two iterations of the game before that. I never get sick of it. Fantastic game.

I was so startled, in fact, that i went out and purchased this game, my curiosity and skepticism getting the better of me. I was not surprised however to find yet another repetitious, sweaty, jock filled pile of facetious sport simulator crap. The fact that this even comes close to titles like Half-Life 2 and actually out-rates titles such as Starcraft, Counter-Strike and World of Warcraft is truly a felony. If you want to play sport, go out and do it; game coders should be ashamed to trick these poor apes into doing something that is supposed to make them fit in front of a screen. When you even start to compare the hours and creativity spent coding and designing titles like "Elder Scrolls: Oblivion" to this dim-witted rip off of the millions of likewise games released over the last 10 years, it really makes you realize just how fraudulent these arid producers are being even trying to sell us this bile-coated code. Not disappointing, as I was never appointed in the first place, just plain crap. Expand

If you have any interest in the guts of baseball, OOTP 2007 is simply a must-own product. It's a landmark achievement. It's weird to think about it: It took a London-based company known for its soccer management games and a German-born developer with a passion for the sport to produce arguably the best and most complete simulation of America's Pastime.

Anyone who's ever dreamed of running a professional team in some capacity, or anyone who enjoys fantasy baseball, baseball board games, or similar products, will absolutely love what OOTP 2007 offers. Any criticisms of the game are merely trivial; in the end it comes down to this: This is the best “fantasy” baseball gaming package ever created.

Out of the Park Baseball 2007 is not a perfect game, as it lacks the human touch that fills baseball and its general manager positions, but there are so many aspects that it digitally replicates with excellence that this doesn't matter.
