ONI: Road to be the Mightiest Oni has some good ideas at its core, but is not capable of bringing them forth in a constructive manner, being marred by repetitiveness in every aspect of its design. Even if Kisejima has a modest extension, KENEI DESIGN and SHUEISHA GAMES haven’t been able to build a lively and convincing setting, using abused tools, like invisible walls, to put on rails an experience that results underwhelming overall.

I was so excited for this game and expected some charming, little adventure that will be a hidden gem. The trailers at least looked promisingI was so excited for this game and expected some charming, little adventure that will be a hidden gem. The trailers at least looked promising enough. Now I'm baffled how bad this game turned out to be.
The performance is horrendous, it's a joke that a game with these simple graphics and small, empty world can't even maintain 30fps.
The gameplay is somewhere between boring and annoying. The way the character moves is just irritating and you do barely more than just collecting mushrooms and take on missions that often feel more like mini-games. The combat also doesn’t feel very good.
And what the hell is wrong with the music? Rarely have I heard such an unfitting soundtrack. It’s even worse that the game seemingly just has a hand full of songs that play over and over again. Plus it definitely sounds like stock music.

Long story short, a huge disappointment. This game feels more like a prototype, than a real game they want the same amount of money like e.g. Hi-Fi Rush
