NMS has finally reached the point that it is worth what many paid for it at launch.

Excellent VR port! using all of my rift's features. Barring the performance issues it runs beautifully and I can't wait for them to fix the performance issues. If they won't I will have to take the score down.
    a total BUY from me.

This game is now better than ever thanks to the developers that are actually listening to the people! This game took a turn for good and is definitely a recommendation!

Played the game at launch, it was ok.
Played the game after the foundation patch hit. It was better.
Now with beyond, the game is great.

This game is quite fun. The biggest drawback is the super repetitive NPC's and repetitive space stations that are absolutely identical everywhere in the galaxy on the inside. It's patched quite a lot so they seem intent on continuing to improve it. Very immersive in VR the way it's designed.

Recalling back to when my best friend fervently tried to get my to buy this game at launch which I did and truly had to question his choice of games (look no further than a launch review to see what I’m talking about). I really felt this was just another overhyped cash grab by a fly by night studio.

I am amazed to say that this now, in VR streaming to my Oculus Quest via ShadowPC is one of the most amazing and expansive gaming moments I’ve had ever. The amount of things to do and see is beyond staggering, and to have it all in VR via a free update is almost in-thinkable. While I do wish they would add an in game fishing mechanic or other mini games, intergalactic poker leagues anyone? I (as a developer myself) feel its time they start charging for something. Most people don’t understand that with an absolute minimal team of 4 engineers, a QA, BA, and PM on a project team it’s going to cost upwards of 5000 usd A DAY to develop software. Whilst I understand why they feel the need to give back some for the launch, I feel they have more than made up for it. This is not the same game from 2016!

I don’t want them to abandon the game and neither should you. There is so much more they could do and I hope to see them continue on.

Thank you so much Hello Games for this one of a kind experience and easily the most ambitious VR game to date.

Never have I played a game so much (since Mario Bros), and had so much fun. I'm up to 190 hours on this game since Beyond was released. Roaming a planet in search of a mission objective, a simple thing, is just so fun you smile.

The VR controls work pretty well. Only the flight controls need some options, as they are not great. They are usable, and you can adapt to them, but they really need to consider a different design.

There were criticisms of the game at initial launch, but it has clearly grown into the game intended here. While Beyond also had a lot of bugs, a bunch in VR, over the first several weeks they have crushed out numerous patches to address almost all of them. Anyone reviewing this game before like September 5 2019, is not giving the game its full due. Some issues remain, but it is entirely playable on all platforms and worthy of full reviews.

The game falls short of a 10 due to ongoing (minor) bugs, clunky NPC interactions and a hope the next update provides even more making it worthy of 10. I think I could stand to pay for a content update after this.

Ok, NOW it's a proper game. Now there is stuff to do. Now it's an actual space-faring fps adventure.

Hello games has made huge strides in the recent years since the initial release of no Man's Sky. They have had several major updates adding loads of content, basically everything promised in 2016 is now delivered.

The bad, the game unfortunately is riddled with bugs and mission breaking issues. Hello games in my opinion has finally succeeded, now it's time to get to work on fixing

Many bugs have been addressed and fixed but there are so many and every time content is added more bugs come. At this point Hello games needs to stop adding content and work on fixing the existing systems and bugs that plague this amazing very ambitious game.

I am surprised that so many critics and users are giving this game such a good score. It absolutely does not deserve it.

I am surprised that so many critics and users are giving this game such a good score. It absolutely does not deserve it.

This is by far one of the most glitched, buggy games I have ever played. In effect, the developer continues to add new features to the game, before fixing the bugs and issues with older features. The result is even more bugs with every update. They also spend time changing the name and types of resources used for various things, rather than fix glaring issues with the game. It is clear they do not and have not had a very good plan or road map for development and improvement.

Many people are praising Hello Games and Sean Murray for continuing to add to this game. I don't feel this is praiseworthy, most of the features added in updates are features that were promised at release. Many of these "new" features are very poorly implemented, buggy and lack depth. A great example of this is the ability of NPCs to walk around... After three years, NPCs can finally move around (lol), however the animations are so poorly done that the NPCs often look comical/humorous, which I am sure was not the intent.

They added a new electrical system for base building (which I like in principle) that is so buggy, connection points disappear so you often can not add to the power grid and have to scrap the whole thing and build again if you want to expand it. When this is added to the already frustrating and glitched base building, it makes for an unbearable situation. Also the electrical system feels like it was slapped on rather than integrated into the game mechanics. For example, some lights need wiring and connection to the grid, some lights and other devices, inexplicably, do not.

After a few days all of the stats on my hard earned upgrade modules disappeared. No reason, they just don't show up anymore, wtf?

The new planet generation is garbage, now most of the planets feel identical to one of half a dozen to a dozen planet types, with the procedural generation producing only slight variations. Even the flora and fauna look more or less identical (maybe slightly longer legs or a slightly different shade of brown or purple).

The new graphics optimization with terrain pop-in makes for a sketchy and uninspiring exploration element. With terrain often appearing in front of you from out of nowhere or the shape of the terrain changing suddenly. I even landed a few times to have the terrain morph and appear over my starship so that it looked like it was partly buried.

The freighter management is very poor. The mini-game for frigates plays like a bad cell phone based fleet management game, only with even less depth and options!

All of the systems in the game lack balance and depth. Some things are very grindy and action in the game such as ship-to-ship combat or ground combat lacks any depth or challenge. Three or four enemy types and a few different creatures, that all behave in the same, predictable ways. It is all easy and boring. Only one or two weapons are worth using for ships and on ground.

In space combat, I just have one shield upgrade and a positron ejector on a crappy ship, with this I can just fly headlong into any enemy starship and spam the trigger and I win any battle in a matter of seconds... just simplistic, crude space battles with absolutely no variation.

I have over 200 hours on various versions of this game and I really wanted to like it, the concept is amazing. Unfortunately, it has been poorly executed in every way. Hello games are clearly an incompetent organization if this is the garbage they produce after three years of post release development. Frankly this would still be below what was promised on release three years ago.

No Man's Sky Beyond = Beyond Garbage.

This has to be one if not the biggest redemption in video-game history. This game is now nothing compared to what it was at launch. And I personally think that it's even better than the trailer (without any doubt). I truly love this game!

I played no man's sky for around 40 hours and now, I think I'm addicted. I had so much fun just running around gathering meterials, upgrading my bases and looking for new planets to explore. Hello games continues to release new updates to this day and I highly recommend giving this game a try.

Considering how No Man’s Sky has deservedly become something of a cult classic in traditional gaming, it’s disheartening that the state of its initial jaunt into VR is so disjointed. That said, porting a game as expansive as No Man’s Sky to a medium as complex and relatively uncharted as VR certainly had to have been a herculean effort. And, even given all of the objective issues that I found with this title, it would be entirely unfair to say that it isn’t a diamond in the rough; No Man’s Sky is now the most feature-complete VR game in existence.
