Labelling Nioh as "another Dark Souls clone", just doesn't do it justice. The Complete Edition is a package brimming with content, challenging gameplay, deep combat mechanics, Diablo-like looting and a fun crafting system to boot. It does not stick to its peers' blueprint, but it endeavours to evolve in a different beast, and for the most part, succeeds.

Nioh slips onto the PC and is as great as it was on the PS4, with DLC and some minor control issues.

Nioh successfully reinvents Souls with deeper combat and skill trees. [Issue#269, p.58]

As a console game, Nioh was in my top five titles of the year and it was a pleasure playing through it again on PC. Nioh moves Souls-like games into their own genre by expanding the vocabulary of combat mechanics and gameplay systems while keeping a structure, flow, and feel that align with From's signature games. PC purists may balk at some of the port's paltry options but the game's elegant and precise combat shines just as brightly on PC as it did on the PS4.

Clearly with the focus on combat and challenging enemies, there are similarities with Nioh and From Software’s Souls games, but unlike other games that have built themselves to be copies of the successful formula, the team behind Nioh have added their style into the mix to make it more than another game trying to lure the fans of hardcore action RPGs to it. Those additional ideas build on an already solid foundation, but enable Nioh to standout above the rest of the inspired clones with its hectic, faster paced and varied combat and addictive loot mechanics, to go toe-to-toe with the company that initiated this new wave of challenging combat, going as far as to better them in some areas.

The enemy variety is lacking, but that's easily overlooked by just how engrossing each boss is. With all the DLC present, Nioh: Complete Edition is an excellent way of experiencing Team Ninja's masterpiece for the first time, or just revisiting William Adams for another trek through Japan.

Players with a half-decent computer and a controller will find themselves lost in a game that goes above and beyond what’s expected from the genre.

Even though the port shows little affection for PC needs (e.g. missing mouse support and some visual issues), this still is an awesome action adventure in feudal Japan. With all three expansion included from the get-go, you can expect approx. 70 hours of challenging fun.

NiOh: Complete Edition is the best way to play the action RPG made by Team Ninja.

If you're lucky enough to not have been plagued with port issues, then you'll find Nioh: Complete Edition to be a wonderfully difficult action game. Though it brings along a high level of difficulty that seems to be en vogue for recent action games, its emphasis on faster action makes it a perfect complement for the competition. Similarly, the loot drops are a great addition, and the oddball story makes the game feel more distinct. It would've been nice to see more PC-specific optimization, but Nioh is worth checking out for fans of difficult action games.

Nioh: Complete Edition is a great game. That much should be expected as the original release was. However, much like all Koei Tecmo PC ports, this release suffers from some glaring omissions and limitations. Fortunately, Team Ninja have already announced some patches to start improving the release.

Nioh: Complete Edition is a worthy “Soulsbourne” game, and maybe one of the best. With the inclusion of all the DLC and the great performance of the port, Nioh should be a day 1 purchase for all fans of the genre. The combat system allows you to play fast and aggressive or slow and defensive, whichever suits your playstyle, and the inclusion of DLC weapons from the start means that you have an incredible amount of customization right off the bat to play through this deep, lengthy game.

Captivating and challenging action RPG in the spirit of Dark Souls, but the PC conversion includes bizarre blunders.

The fantastic game has earned not so fantastic PC version. If you are not afraid of gamepad play and high difficulty, give Nioh a chance. Only then you’ll understand that label Nioh as a Samurai Dark Souls is surprisingly inaccurate. [Issue#283]

A fantastic show of force from the long-standing Team Ninja, but one that feels like it didn’t truly understand the mass appeal of the genre. Spruced up with the group’s signature style, Nioh only falters with its less captivating world. We can appreciate the heritage, but it won’t grab everyone.

A sloppy port but this is still the best SoulsBorne clone out there, with plenty of unique ideas of its own and some of the best combat of the generation.

NiOh: Complete Edition is a lazy port of the original game: no support for mouse and keyboard, no settings inside the game (you have to use the launcher). Nonetheless is an edition that offers a lot of contents and all the three DLCs. It is a must buy for all the soulslike lovers.

The acclaimed Nioh marks its debut on PC without any particular accomplishment or novelties: the PC version, which includes the three previously released DLCs, can either be defined "pure" or "lazy", depending on your point of view. It is exactly the same game we already appreciated on PS4, including the lack of support for mouse and keyboard.

If you have ever praised the sun, or if you have any fear of the old blood, Nioh is an absolute must play. A fantastic and deep combat system, coupled with great boss design and a difficult yet fair effort/reward loop put Nioh right up there with its not so distant brothers in Dark Souls and Bloodborne. If I were to assign a score to the game, simply for its content it would absolutely be a solid “A”. Unfortunately, even though it is the Complete Edition, this is not necessarily the superior version of the game. If you only play games on PC, this game is still a no-brainer to pick up, but if you’re like me and have consoles as well as a computer, I think the PS4 may still be the place to play Nioh.

  1. The masses of loot initially seem like the biggest difference between this and a From Software game, and could kid you into thinking Nioh is a game about raising stats above all else, but it’s not. That’s a small part of it. Really, it’s a game about raising your own level and mastering one of the finest combat systems ever put on a screen. It might be standing on the shoulders of Souls, but it’s got its eyes on a very different destination. [RPS Recommended]

The PC version of Nioh is the very definition of functional. It works well enough that you can enjoy your time with it, but it’s unremarkable everywhere that matters.

Not really a fan of open world, maybe that is one of the main reason why I am loving Nioh more than Dark Souls.

Have been quite some time not sleeping late, until Nioh for PC is launched. Since then, have been playing late into the night.

Love the loot and equipment system, and the of course its fighting style. Although I am already in my 40s, playing this game reminds me how fast my reaction can still be. Boss design are great, although I die a lot, but they were designed to sort of motivate you to keep progressing and learning more about them.

Giving 9 out of 10. No game is perfect. This is still one of my best game ever played.

The only flaw the games has it's the locked fps on PC. Otherwise the game runs great without any issues. C**ts be happy we have a PS4 exclusive on PC and you are criticizing just because it cannot be played with mouse and keyboard? Idiots!!!!
