Love the loot and equipment system, and the of course its fighting style. Although I am already in my 40s, playing this game reminds me how fast my reaction can still be. Boss design are great, although I die a lot, but they were designed to sort of motivate you to keep progressing and learning more about them.

Giving 9 out of 10. No game is perfect. This is still one of my best game ever played.

Players with a half-decent computer and a controller will find themselves lost in a game that goes above and beyond what’s expected of the genre. The game is great, everything you would expect from a dark souls clone but even better in terms of speed and preciseness.

The only flaw the games has it's the locked fps on PC. Otherwise the game runs great without any issues. C**ts be happy we have a PS4

I just bought it from summer sale all I can say the game does worth it if you love this type of genre and love to grind mechanics. I do love the mechanics as it serves it purposes not just wasting your time and have to chip in your own money(real money). Overall it is a great and frustrating video game.

Combat system is second to none. Team Ninja took the Dark Souls stamina system and added a combo system where you can regain your stamina by switching your stances and weapons and using different move sets. So the system encourages you to learn your entire move set and how to string together combos using different weapons. You have three stances which each have several attacks, so you have exponentially more options in combat than in the soulsborne formula.
On top of the melee system (which you use "samurai points" to level), you have "ninjutsu" points (throwing weapons, traps, other tricks), and "onmyo" points (magic). There is also a "guardian spirit" system, which is kind of like a spirit animal that follows you around. As you kill enemies, your spirit gauge builds up which lets you enter into a "super" mode when full. So in addition to the samurai, ninjitsu, and onmyo options, you can build a character around having strong guardian spirit as well.
There is also a diablo-like loot mechanic, which I think is one of the few negatives of the game. It's just a bit of chore to have to clear out your inventory after every mission. But on the plus side, finding a rare weapon of a type that you haven't tried yet encourages you to keep trying new things. The system works overall, I just feel like there's a little too much loot.
BUT - once you reach the end-game and start getting divine weapons to refine your character build, the loot system turns around again and becomes very rewarding as you try to craft a perfect set for your build. It's just a sham to have to slog through it all as it just gets tiresome after awhile to have to constantly sell piles of useless items.
This can all be a bit overwhelming, but overall if you stick with the game and learn its systems it is very rewarding. The New Game + modes are also fantastic, as they change enemy placement and other subtle changes that is much more than just dialing up enemy health and damage. You are really required to start dialing in a build and thinking about your goals for what you want your character to do in order to succeed as the challenges ramp up. Much like the classic Team Ninja game Ninja Gaiden: Black, the game just gets better the deeper you go. If you have patience enough to play through the game a few times on the NG+ difficulties, the game offers a rich and rewarding combat experience that few action RPGs can match.

I’ve spent over 100 hours in this game and I loved it. The whole mission based gameplay was something very fresh for me yet so good. I really liked stances and entire fighting system as well as bosses with their well balanced weakness and hard spots. I’m going to finish it also on PS4 as well as 2nd part. Ofc I’ve played using a game pad not sure what would be the experience with k+m

A satisfying blend of beat-em-up, ARPG and Dark Souls secrets and exploration. Scratches the itch if you've been lost after the final piece of Dark Souls 3 DLC was released. Team Ninja's DNA is all over this, as the weapons and combos are very Ninja-Gaiden

Was skeptical that this was gonna be another bad dark souls clone but it is so much more than that. It's much more addictive than dark souls (2 & 3) and the combat is better imo, but there's too many filler quests and not enough enemy variety. It's a crappy port though and crashes sometimes and that sucks when you're in the middle of a boss fight. 8/10

Like other people in the reviews i have played all 3 dark souls, and I got to admit Nioh takes the sous combat system to a whole new level. Sure, story wise is basically a "b action movie" but that's not the point of the game which is btw filled with pretty accurate historical references. The point is fighting, finding your style and mastering it.

People is complaining about keyboard support.... get over it just buy a controller (a logitech F310 is just about 25 euros and is a capable, sturdy and cheap gamepad), I don't get why someone wants to play an action game of this genre with keyboard and mouse.
If I got to find a flaw in this game, I would say that is its repetitiveness. Too many pointless ng+, I would prefer a game that encourages you to create a new character more than endlessly grind for just one.

Nioh is a good game, but there are some glaring issues with it.

Let's start by saying what's good about Nioh. Combat is swift and unforgiving, it walks the line somewhere between dark souls and Bloodborne in terms of its feel. You can choose between 3 stances which have their own sets of attacks. Ranged combat is adequate too, although it's not really possible to make a build around it
Nioh is a good game, but there are some glaring issues with it.

Let's start by saying what's good about Nioh. Combat is swift and unforgiving, it walks the line somewhere between dark souls and Bloodborne in terms of its feel. You can choose between 3 stances which have their own sets of attacks. Ranged combat is adequate too, although it's not really possible to make a build around it unfortunately. In Nioh you have access to various ninja and magic techniques and spells which add a bit of flair to combat, and can improve your damage, slow enemies or blind them.

There's a mission structure to this game rather than just journeying through one large connected world like dark souls. Players can pick between sub-missions and main missions that unlock on the world map. And this is fine, I've hard some people disliking this design choice, but I think it suits Nioh.

However, almost everything else that I want to praise about the game is coupled with negatives. I WANT to say that the boss battles are good, but, a lot of them just aren't. There aren't any that I really remember or really enjoyed for that matter. Compare this to something like DS3 where I remember fighting Midir or the Nameless King with great fondness, or in Bloodborne where I fought Gehrman or Gascoigne I can't really say that for Nioh. A lot of the bosses feel bland, and worse infuriating with moves that feel a bit cheap. In short, most bosses in Nioh are just not fun to fight against unfortunately. Although there are a few which stand as exceptions to the rule.

The story and lore of Nioh, I've got to say, is just bland. I didn't find myself caring about the world or the characters in it to any degree, and I was barely bothering to pay attention to any of the story. It sounds brutal to say out loud, but I just didn't give a **** about what was going on.

Something else to note is the game's loot, it's armour and weapons. I liked acquiring them, some armour sets and swords look totally **** badass and this along with the great gameplay was basically my driving force to finish the game. However, even this comes with it's issues, the main one being is the levelling system. I don't like this system, like at all. In DS you might find a sword, and then you'd have to upgrade it as the game went on, in Nioh, weapons and armour are integrated into a level list, this doesn't sound so bad at first but it means that when I'm running through an area, i might acquire literally 5 different versions of gauntlets, and I have to trawl through my inventory comparing stats and tossing some aside just so my inventory isn't clogged to **** This isn't a massive issue, but it lead to me not really feeling attached to my gear. As I said, I still enjoyed acquiring stuff, and this isn't a big deal, but it's still something I want to say

A massive negative of Nioh is the recycling of enemies. You'll encounter the same enemies over and over and over and over and over again, I can't tell you how many times I've killed the demon with the sword or a one eyed ogre, or a generic soldier with a spear. The game doesn't even bother to add true variations, they don't even come in different colours. This also applies to the bosses believe it or not, which are recycled in the game's side missions, the 2nd boss of the game, I've fought it about 6 times now and that's probably a low estimate. It's pathetic. It really is, and it makes the game feel like a chore to play through, when all I'm doing is seemingly fighting the same handful of enemies in a generic location, which brings me to...

The generic locations. Nowhere is memorable, everywhere is bland and non-descript. I can maybe remember one area that I liked, actually no I can't. There's nothing particularly horrible about them, they're just meh. However this is very problematic for the game, because now I'm just trudging through areas I don't really care about, in a world with a story I don't care about, fighting the same roster of about 20 enemies literally every single mission.

And that's what I have to say about Nioh, there was a big craze amongst the console gamers back in 2017 about this game, and honestly, I don't get why. It's a good game, but the only really standout feature is it's combat. I played it a lot, but, perhaps it wasn't worth it. It's certainly not worth spending £40 on it. I'd wait for a sale till it went for £20-£30. Or you could always be a scumbag and buy it on G2A. Like I did, I'm sorry.

So, if you're looking for a halfway decent souls game, you could spend you're money on worse things. or better things, like the Surge 2 or Ashen. Ashen is a great game btw, it gets a lot of hate, but if you really want an amazing souls game play Ashen it's **** beautiful, Actually this just reminded me to write a review of Ashen. I love Ashen.

In Nioh you play as William an irish pirate on a quest for revenge that took him to Japan during the war of Sekihagara (1600). The setting isn't historical though because you'll fight a lot of demons that i doubt were in japan during 1600.

The port is quite good. It runs on 30 fps smooth even on my computer that has a gpu below the minimun recomendations for it. It also supports mouse and keyboard finally (you'll have to rebinds a lot of keys probably to play decently).

The gameplay is demanding thanks to the ki-pulse mechanic where you have to quickly tap a button to regain stamina and you gain more if you are precise. Playing without getting the grasps of this feature will lead to many many deaths because you'll often run out of energy leaving your enemies an opening for a finisher move that deals a ton of damage.
There are also stances for weapons where you can choose if you prefer fast strikes that deal low damage or slow strikes that deals a ton of damage or an intermediate stance for all around purpouses. But Nioh isn't by any mean a very hard game. You'll get many offensive and defensive options to deal with each encounter, such as the living weapon that is a mode in which you cannot take any damage and you deal more damage but it lasts only for a few secons and you have to kill stuff to recharge it.

The whole game is divided in missions and regions, so it isn't an open world, but you can replay every mission you already finished if you want to. You are encouraged to do that to farm for better equipment or just because you cant help anyone in missions you haven't already finished.
Bossfights are mostly good and different from one another and enemy variety is quite good although i've read many complaints about it. Yes, you'll mostly fight normal soldiers and demons but:
1)If you count different weapons that they can use there are a lot of combinations
2)there are many enemies that are more rare scattered in the various missions to fight.

The level design is also quite good.
Story missions are long with maps that often loops around themselvs with shortcuts and secrets to find. Almost every area has a unique mechanic to quickly learn to progress such as: Rolling boulders to avoid, poison to get rid of, walls to blow up with explosives and so on. That helps with the fact that are few different areas in the sub-missions and are mostly reused areas from story missions with different enemies/checkpoint placement.
Sub-mission are still good. Often short so you can easily end one in 15 minutes if you want just to play a bit and then go on.

There is a loot system in which every weapon has a random set of perks and rarity but you can reroll perks you don't like or just upgrade the level of a unique weapon if you want to.
So you aren't tied that much to rng to get good equipment since you can just reroll the perks you want or just make a new high level weapon with gold that you get during missions/selling old weapons.

Also: This game isn't like dark souls. Don't expect that.
The combat system is much more complex, the open world style is gone, there is a story told by cutscenes and dialogues and so on. The only mechanic shared with the souls saga is that when you die you lose amrita (Exp) that you can regain going back to your dead body (or using a rare item)

I've played for around 53 to complete every mission in the base game and i have yet to do all the 3 dlc and the NG+ mode.
Overall this game is great. Not too much of a challenge maybe (except some big spikes here and there) but very enjoyable. I'd recomend it.

Great game, same as console version. Controls even better with mouse and keyboard than with a gamepad.
Only downside is that the game is poorly optimized and won't run properly on anything but the most modern hardware. In turn visuals are noticeably better than in the console version.
The game includes all the dlc, which easily gives you around 70 hours of fun for the first playthrough.

Further playthroughs in the various ng+ modes are not recommended though, unless you enjoy grinding and getting oneshot by even the most basic enemies. If that is your thing, the overall playtime is anywhere from 150 to 300 hours, depending on how well you do in the game.

Nioh is a fluid and exciting ARPG. it has a good atmosphere and sense of exploration, and overall your charcater feels less fragile than in similar games. There is a high skill cap that is to some degree gear and level independent - so a skilled player can do well in bad gear - but gear does play a bigger factor in your character's performance thanin similar games such as Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

The controls are tight and responsive, and the combat is in true 3D space - where your attack strikes any enemy in your weapon's path - unlike the Batman 'Arkham' series; Shadow of Mordor; and (pre-Origins) Assassins creed, which are more of a '2D fighting engine in 3D' with their auto-facing/turning/locking-on attacks directed at one enemy at a time.

Nioh features the character death mechanic where you drop your 'experience points' on the floor where you die - and have one life to reclaim them before the 'experience points' disappear. This engaging as it emotionally involves the player in the game with minor triumphs and failures. The respawn points are just close enough together so that you don't kick yourself over the futility of a 'retrieval' when you die - unless you missed one of them. Note that (in the tradition of such games), these respawn points restore your health and healing potions, but also cause all but certain enemies to reappear.

The loot generation is dynamic except for mission rewards, but not at the Diablo and Borderlands level of diversity. in addition to items with random stats, there are armor sets with bonuses for collecting them; and a crafting, enhancement, and modification system. The loot system is unlike in Dark souls or Bloodborne where key loot is placed in locations by design, or needs to be farmed from enemies that 'use' the item you want; and each item is designed (rather than randomly generated). This means you don't quite have the same feeling of 'I will go on a near suicidal dash to get a specific weapon or armor from a tricky location, or tricky foe' that makes playing Dark Souls that more interesting. Nioh does offer some set rewards for its missions; and i assume that may factor into people stretching themselves to get a reward they want; but as a mechanic that feels less organic and engaging than the way Dark souls pushes you to take risks to get better gear.

You use an over-world map to select destinations for missions; which reuse locations but change enemy types, map layout, and enemy locations - this reuse is similar to Tenchu, but with more enemy-set variety. The use of an over-world map feels less 'clever' and novel than the way that Souls games link their locations together, but in the context of adventuring in a wide range of places across Japan, linking the locations makes no sense.

I have not tried the co-op yet, but the offline PVP aspect is interesting. As you explore you come across the 'remains' of other players, you can resurrect them as a hostile 'revenant' and if you kill them you can loot a couple of random pieces of the gear they were equipped with.

Leveling is similar to a souls game, where you collect ever increasing amounts of experience points to upgrade primary attributes (such as health, strength etc..), and upgrading those causes numerous secondary attributes to raise (such as HPs, resistances, damage with certain weapon types). Nioh also features skill trees where skill unlocks may either grant a new 'move' across multiple weapons, or only for the specific weapon type whose tree it appears within. There is a secondary character enhancement scheme similar to Borderlands, where you accumulate 'points' which can be spent on minor cumulative performance enhancements (e.g. 1% more damage to monsters, 0.5% more experience per kill). I don't know if these secondary enhancements apply to subsequent play-throughs with other characters or New Game+ (like Borderlands 2 does).

Performance on my system is acceptable - running at a steady 60 FPS (capped) at 1080 resolution (an overclocked Xeon X5670 on a 7 year old MB, with a GTX 1070). There are a variety of graphics options, but not quite the level of customization you expect in a native PC Game, but it was still fine for me as i put everything to max, but may be bothersome with people trying to tweak settings at a higher res or weaker card to get a solid 60FPS.

i cant judge how it would run on a lower end graphics card, and I haven't put in the effort to get it to run at my monitor's native Ultrawide resolution yet (2560 * 1080). I use a wired XBOX controller, and it works perfectly fine, with seamless usage and all onscreen displays showing the correct XBOX controller buttons.

I would recommend Nioh to people that I would not recommend a Souls game to, as it is fun and rewarding, and falls within my perception of an average player's tolerance for frustration, compared to Dark Souls and Bloodborne - which I believe are a bit too punishing for many gamers.

Enemy variety is also extremely poor. It's especially disappointing because devs chose such a rich material to work with but in the end didn't do much with it. Enemies that you encounter in the first 5 hours are basically the same enemies that you'll be fighting for the rest of the game, which is like 40-50.
Nioh has some interesting mechanics and presents a fair learning curve. It starts off very promising, but overstays its welcome eventually.

Abridged version of my Steam review.

I've wasted enough time in my life on games with crappy difficulty curves due to improper testing and poor design vision being touted as intentional old-school difficulty. There are some issues with point blank shots with a ranged weapon when the reticle target has changed to "targetted" failing to register as a hit but still alerting enemy/enemies to your presence. I know it isn't registering at all because when it hits armor and does no damage there's an indicator of that. Sometimes the game just seems to forget that something got shot at a guy. The boss fights in this are obviously going to be the 3D Gaiden style where they can turn on dimes so you need to dodge within the .5s window or eat huge damage. In ways this is more fluid than Souls in other ways it carries over a lot of overdrawn animation garbage that is really frustrating, I prefer tight responsive controls in games like this, I keep hoping a developer will take the Souls formula and evolve on it by making it more twitch instead of those slow swampy trudge kind of feeling. Even with low weight ratings. This isn't a title that aimed to achieve that.

You can customize controller inputs, but some of these buttons are multibinds that aren't shown on the button mapping screen, so when you change that button some of the multibind goes to the new button and some of it sticks on the old one. To boot sometimes the custom control scheme randomly reverts back to the original you editted, while playing, then can switch back. So it's best not editting and just sticking with an existing one.

The game is definitely more demanding than it needs to be. I'm currently running an i7-7700k with a GTX1070 and 16gb of DDR4 RAM. At max settings this game is more taxing than DOOM 2016 at max settings, it isn't nearly as impressive in any facet, the tech requirements for a good experience are nothing but the result of lousy optimization.

The lack of proper K&M support (you can do things with the keyboard such as navigate menus, move, ready bow, probably more but I didn't check all of it, was accidental while trying to alt-tab and the like), but mouse doesn't seem to work, at least for me) didn't bother me since I play these sorts of games with a controller anyway. It's going to be a sore spot for some PC gamers which is totally justified, this is now a PC game after all.

Borderless window option is great but randomly locked frame rate at 37 to me for some reason. Would have to go back to settings and flick it back to full screen then borderless window to get it to lock back at 60 until it locked at 37 again.

Has options for frame caps of 30 or 60. Games these days should just have sliders for this due to all the possibilities. I prefer 75 lately since that's what my monitor's refresh rate is OC'd to, without the option to flat out decap the frame rate in-game and then cap it at 75 through an external program (what I do with 90% of PC games on the market because most allow decapping with a very simple VSYNC OFF option) I'm having a handicapped experience compared to what I'm used to. I have to wonder how crippled 144hz users must feel.

The sound has some weird mixing to it, I'm not talking about volume levels but something that went wrong with EQ or something like that when doing the recording and/or mixing in the studio. I don't know what they were thinking, it definitely isn't heavily compressed (though not uncompressed audio which I initially figured it would be given the final install size of 73.9gb - perhaps it's just a bunch of language options bloating an otherwise 40-50gb title?).

There are also two coop options for this game. One is similar - not identical - to the Souls mechanic, where you summon someone to your world. In Nioh you have to spend an item (a cup that you get mostly from rare drops from Revenants - Revenants being enemies you summon from the blood marks of players who died) to summon a player who has already cleared that stage. So in this mode you cannot play coop with a friend unless they have already completed it.

There's also another coop mode that is really hard to find information on. My best understanding of it from what I've seen is, after you beat the first actual mission (not the prologue or tutorial, the beach mission), you get access to a Torii Gate which allows you to be summoned to the worlds of players for the sake of coop as explained in the previous paragraph. But you can also use it to do straight up coop on any mission with anyone who selects that same coop option from that same Torii Gate menu. Convoluted way of providing a means of traditional coop.

I have no idea how this became as popular as it did, though that seems to be a common theme with a lot of games these days. The peak for a lot of genres has come and gone, all that's left often is recycling for money, recycling to hone, the latter rarely happens.

    Nioh is a disaster.

I beat the game on PS4 and played about 5 hours of the PC version.

If you have a good PC and a controller (no kb/m support), it's a neat Souls-like with really fun and satisfying combat. My biggest problems with it are lack of enemy variety and the missions feeling too samey. I recommend skipping a lot of the side missions to avoid burning out on the game as well as making it too easy.

I'm playing it on a Ryzen 5 1600, GTX 1060 machine and at 1080p it's mostly running at 60 but with fairly frequent frame drops when there's a lot of action on screen. There's really no reason for it to be that demanding, it's an alright looking game for the most part, but sometimes it looks like an early PS3-era game in high res. If your specs are lower than mine I would wait for a performance patch before buying it.

To switch weapons you have to hold the right bumper and select your weapon by using the d- pad. This makes switching in fights a chore since Nioh has to back off to do it instead of it being fluid which every Ninja Gaiden game was able to pull off beautifully.

To change stance you have to repeat the process with the other D-pad options. Again making it a chore to swap out stances, although the animation is briefly quicker for this.

If you decide to heal, you better take a two second break and hope you don’t get hit by anything.

Enemies in your area aren’t shown to be behind you so many times you’ll feel cheated til you repeat it all over.

The game doesn’t make out leveling to much a possibility, so it won’t get any easier. You have to stand toe to toe with a boss which usually can be easily beaten by upgrades which are usually well past the encounter. Kind a like you have to face off and repeat til hopefully you land the final blow.

Finally, I did very much appreciate the differences this game has from any Soul games however the whole managing your stamina thing actually pulls away from the fun and engagement.

You lose stamina when you block or get hit - fair enough.

You can’t regenerate stamina if your blocking - this alone killed the fun in keeping any pressure up .. falling back to heal or dodge while the stamina on the enemy refreshes.

You lose stamina for taking damage, attempting to swing and cannot regen any of it back except to evade til your .. well energized to swing.

IMHO, if the stamina recovered faster or while even holding block then for me it’d be considered a fair fight.

The game is beautiful and will keep most interested til the frustrations leaves them to shelve it til patience has restored or those hard memories forgotten.

Truly, I wanted to really enjoy this game - totally. For me, personally I didn’t enjoy due to the way we have to fight in this game. It wants so much to be real in many ways but some of the realness sacrifies the fun.

Labelling Nioh as "another Dark Souls clone", just doesn't do it justice. The Complete Edition is a package brimming with content, challenging gameplay, deep combat mechanics, Diablo-like looting and a fun crafting system to boot. It does not stick to its peers' blueprint, but it endeavours to evolve in a different beast, and for the most part, succeeds."

I hate the game. At first I like the second stage where I was fighting pirates and demons, taking rng loot, finding little creatures, and good fighthing mechanic.

But then I enter third stage. Long way to get to the boss, lot of enemies, enemies more stronger, bad design of the scenary, stupid ways to insta kill you (bats). I was not being happy in that moment so I couldnt continue

I was using a tank build in the moment where I could take a hit and counter attack. But the boss in that zone punish you if you are not a dodge build.

Now you all people should know that, this game is only for the minority. Please don't buy this game if you are not a hardcore gamer. This game is not suitable for all people, just same like Death Stranding. That's what I like to say, it is quite funny to see a hardcore gamer play Death Stranding.

First of all, I want to write that I am familiar with games of this genre, and although I am not a true samurai and cannot "play the Dark Souls on bananas", as in YouTube was, I have faced difficult game battles, so if you are some sort of true ninja/samurai/hokage/monster - you can pass my review.

    ...
    What I liked:
    1) Even if you don't really know the history of Japan you can like that plot. But if you know something - it will be the bonus, of course. And good notes and descriptions of each object, enemy, character - help to better understand the world and mythology of the game. Normal and pleasant music.
    2) Normal Entourage, although it could be better in graphics. But... PlayStation, yes, I remember.
    3) Demonstration and binding of all active skills is very convenient. It was an awesome thing. Thanks.
    4) Red ghosts of dead players - very good idea that add more challenge and add more entourage.
    5) System of reputation and joining a clan: It's not new, but it's good that this game also has it.
    6) It's f***ng difficult. Overall, it's cool. But periodically there are enemies that are difficult, not because they are difficult, but because they are crookedly created and It's infuriating... but in most cases the difficulty is like tabasco sauce or paper chili. Really great game-play for hours.
    7) Crafting and hardening are made very good.
    What I didn't like:
    1) First and the most enraging - auto aiming. In general fighting's it works ok, but If you meet 2 or more monsters, or even 2 but strong monsters, it starts to endlessly jump from one to another and it was hell to control that "cursed whirligig".
    2) The second and almost enraging - Freezes without a game-pad. A port on the PC from PlayStation is very bad because without it every 2 seconds you get freezes on a second. And even If you play on keyboard the game-pad buttons still dominate and shown on the screen and in a safe-zone.
    3) Too many times you return to the same locations that are practically unchanged. Too many similar monsters and they are totally deaf(You can cut one enemy into a salad and the other one standing next to you will not hear anything until you take another step closer).
    4) About 60% of side-quests are not interesting at all, and almost all are similar to one another. Like monster hunting, where only the mission poster changes. The rest 40% - yes, it's more interesting.
    5) I really hate several monsters because of their BROKEN influence in battles. For example stupid flying heads. If they fly up close to you, then it is impossible to hit, push them away or something else, they stupidly endlessly butt you, not letting you do anything at all. And having no "ki" do it endlessly until you jump back... Or another example: Stupidly inadequate speed of foxes, that is apparently designed exclusively for the "game samurai and ninjas" mentioned at the beginning.
    6) Half of the skills are overly pretentious and beautifully designed, but useless. Either in terms of damage or control usability.
    7) The levels of objects, and especially talismans, are mostly bulls*t: In weapon it shown slightly. But many talismans of 40-45 LVL in my inventory were MUCH! better than talismans level 70-80.
Continuing the subject of items: A LOT! of trash. Too many loot in general, and very little useful. At least different from the one found a minute ago.
    8) The enemies that are encountered at the beginning will also be at the end. This game will give about two dozen of enemies, and they will all be beautiful and interesting... but that's all. Too little for such a vast mythology, and such a not short game. But all the bosses 100% are magnificent.
    9) 80% of story are shown in mission posters and static comics pictures when you receive a new spirit guardian. And only about 20% are showing normal video movies. It's criminally little.
    10) This is the last point and the last disappointment in this game: I completed the game and did not f***ng understand the merge option. I tried to figure it out many times, but it was just wildly incomprehensible and I abandoned it... The same with parrying: In other games I did not master it quickly but did it well. In this game, 1 out of 5 times worked... 1/4 of the sword skills are tied to this.
    11) Almost forgot it: Translation. It's bad. Many mistakes and even false translation, which is unforgivable, at least in describing of the actions of skills.
...Overall, despite a lot of drawbacks, I really liked this game. Despite the green rating that I really wanted to give it, with a creak in my soul I will give it only the maximum rating from yellow zone.

The level design is awful, it's so easy to get lost, the areas look boring, they love to add obnoxious traps like collapsing floors or enemies that cheap shot you as you run around a corner. I barely even did any side quests and just from the main quests the cheap shot must have happened to me like 50 times at least. And falling through the floor at least a dozen. Even the main systems of the game like the kodama blessing and the way items and gear work were obnoxious.

Some things work in theory but not in practice. Some things are just overpowered and broken. The balancing is probably some of the worst I've seen up until Code Vein launched and the game itself is filled with reskins and "different element" bait.

There are a few good things I could mention, but then I'll probably remember 6 other things that made the experience masochistic at best.

I probably wouldn't recommend this game which is a little sad. There's alot of interesting things that they either took too far or didn't properly explain to the player and leaves them stumbling around trying to figure it out.

Nettes. Spiel es hat echt viel Spaß gemacht. Mehr davon! Nicht zu lang, nicht zu kurz. Genau richtig.

Expand

DARK SOULS + SOME RANDOM LOOTER SHOOTER GAME = NIOH

Enemy designs and moves are pretty good, bosses are making you sweat and my controller is still in one piece. But map designs are too simple and the story is pretty crap.

The fantastic game has earned not so fantastic PC version. If you are not afraid of gamepad play and high difficulty, give Nioh a chance. Only then you’ll understand that label Nioh as a Samurai Dark Souls is surprisingly inaccurate. [Issue#283]

Labelling Nioh as "another Dark Souls clone", just doesn't do it justice. The Complete Edition is a package brimming with content, challenging gameplay, deep combat mechanics, Diablo-like looting and a fun crafting system to boot. It does not stick to its peers' blueprint, but it endeavours to evolve in a different beast, and for the most part, succeeds.

If you're lucky enough to not have been plagued with port issues, then you'll find Nioh: Complete Edition to be a wonderfully difficult action game. Though it brings along a high level of difficulty that seems to be en vogue for recent action games, its emphasis on faster action makes it a perfect complement for the competition. Similarly, the loot drops are a great addition, and the oddball story makes the game feel more distinct. It would've been nice to see more PC-specific optimization, but Nioh is worth checking out for fans of difficult action games.
