I'm running on AMD RX580 and it crashes every 5 minutes. Graphics looks like a game from 10 years ago. Semi naked good looking female androids are the only good things of this game

I finally got around to playing this mediocre, hodge-podge of a game. It leaves a lot to be desired and outstays its welcome considerably. I spent 36h to get all the main endings and do all the side quests.

    Pros:
    -2B's ass.
-Decent soundtrack though some of them (forest theme) got on my nerves.
-Neat genre mixing in the combat and twin stick shooter hacking segments.
-Reasonable graphics and good character designs.

    Cons:
-3/4 of the game is basically a prologue for the actual story to start (route c).
-One of the worst stories ever put into a video game.
-The worst story pacing of any game I've ever played.
-Mediocre, poorly balanced combat. You can play on Normal where it's impossible to die or Hard where you have to use some plug-ins and then it's impossible to die. Or you can play on masochist, die-in-one-hit no matter what you do Very Hard. Unlimited use of healing items is a serious problem.
-Repetitive combat and some of the worst, most boring side quests ever.
-Tiny, open empty world with little to explore. There are only 4 main zones and 2 "towns", you visit them all in the first 10 hours. Enjoy running around the same areas again and again for the next 25 hours.
    -Bad voice acting.
    -60 FPS lock.

My advice if you want to try the game: Skip ALL of the side quests and optional content and just finish the main story. It would have been a much more tolerable game at ~20 hours. Regardless Nier: Automata may in fact be one of the singular worst games I've ever played that wasn't mechanically broken, horrible buggy, or blatantly unfinished.

I wanted to like it but I couldn't get into it. The story is just not there, NPCs are uninteresting, and its open world is empty. Its visual design is awesome though.

    + Beautiful music
+ Good playability and nice (and fast) combats
    + Nice butt (XD)

    - No skill tree, so you lvl up and can't do a s**t with that, it just add status to your character
    - Locked at 60 fps and still horrible stuttering when moving around the map or in combat
    - The worst point is that after some hours of gameplay the game starts getting boring, repetitive, and with no skill tree I lose motivation for killing machines
    - Secondary missions are (again) repetitive and simple
    - Graphics are simply not good, there are tons of games with 5+ years old and they look much better, and the colors in this game are bad

So, maybe it's a good game for people that's new in this kind of game or PC gaming (mainly for the fps cap and graphics, oh and the frame drops) but not for other people, especially when a game gets boring, because It is the opposite of what you are looking for in a game.

Note that you can upgrade your weapons and add chips to your body, improving status and getting some abilities, but even then I feel like I was playing the same battles again and again. Just my point of view.

You got to like those kinds of games - turns out, I don't. You get to run a lot from one group of enemies another, they all look alike except for the bosses. Bosses are a proper challenge. Technically it worked fine. Overclocked 5960x and GTX1080 with 950Pro SSD - quick loading times, no stuttering except in cutscenes.

Nier is overhyped, everyone knew that though, some people will love the game, most people will find it fairly generic

The first portion of the game up until defeating the first boss, i had to use my melee attack a massive 3 times, and those 3 swings were during the boss battle, for the first portion of the game i could have used electrical tape to hold down my L1 button and not had my experience diminished

Graphically speaking the game is ok i guess, as a PC gamer its hard to be "impressed" by graphical quality that you've seen in numerous places before, level design was pretty bland for the section i played but i apreciate that this is mostly a tutorial section, that being said its all you had to win me over and it didn't, and thats before you mention the horrid 30FPS during cutscenes, what is this, 2006?

Audio, the music, what little i've heard was fairly decent, noting stood out as bad and the sound effects seemed ok, someone actually put some work in to that so i'm impressed, the voice acting, well i get that they are robots but even for robots the acting was bland, i couldn't tell if it was just the voice actors being bored or not

Gameplay, having only experienced the first section of the game i can't comment on the rest, but it must have changed genre about 6 times, there was 3rd person, top down, sode scrolling shooter, vertical shooter, twin stick shooter and platformer that i counted, the constant changes between genres was jarring, on top of that it didn't really do any of them particularly well, it wasn't engaging and it makes it feel like nobody could settle on what this game was meant to be

All in all i would probably give this game a 5 out of 10, if you can pick it up for cheap during the christmas sale then its alright, but at £40 i expect a little more, although considering square-enixs love of mediocre games recently, i can't say i'm overly surprised

If you like constant transitions between genres and generic gameplay then you might enjoy this game, if you're expecting something more engaging then you probably should look elsewhere

    3. Sometimes it seems like the only way to learn a boss's mechanics is to die to them several times, as many of said mechanics are not intuitive.
    4. Stop trying to show me 2B's panties, I don't want to see them.

I also found the story rather uninspired, which I know is very subjective, as some find it quite interesting, but it didn't really speak to me, so it just made for some boring, albeit pretty looking, cutscenes.

I am rating specifically PC version quite low. The game looks interesting, but it's seriously unplayable on PC with keyboard and mouse. Camera auto-focus, typical for consoles, is super annoying for a PC game. Given all that and the lack of saves, I was not even able to complete the first mission in like 5 tries, until I switched to Easy. And then it was basically "mash a button" game.

This game is not very good. The story is not interesting at all, and apparently you need to play through it 3 times to get to the good part. I forced myself to finish ending A and it took 10 hours, and then I gave up, and I was not going to do that 2 more times. If it was fun to play, it wouldn't matter as much, but it is a snorefest button masher.

    Points for the music, interesting

NieR: Automata is a clunky and miserable experience. While I was barely captured by its graphical quality, everything else about the game is stitched together horrifically. Random, nonsensical game and RPG mechanics are strewn about wildly in the most frustrating and obtrusive way possible, never adding anything to the already braincell-killing core mechanical gameplay loop. Furthermore, once you get past the game's stunning beauty, it quickly degenerates into an ugly, meaningless story which tries very hard to be subtle/profound while rehashing absolutely dull ideas in a tasteless, brutish manner. I deeply regret spending as much time as I did on this game, mindlessly walking towards quest markers in a pseudo-open world and pressing the "X" button on my controller again, desperately waiting for the game to fulfill on a promise of becoming meaningful or engaging at any point. That point never came. Unless you like staring at the high budget low quality 3d models, this isn't worth your time. Expand

It seems like this game has so much padding and it's really not fair. The developer tries to be 'clever' by reusing set pieces to tell the story from a different perspective, but honestly, these different perspectives could be done in a much more fun and enjoyable game. not by forcing me to play through the entire game again. It's like a lot of the game was 'held back' for playthrough number 2, when it should have been right there in the game the first time round maybe as optional missions or as exposition. It reminds me a lot of devil may cry 4, where it required you to play the game again backwards in order to get to the end. In retrospect, I feel like I wasted a lot of my life playing this, I got too involved and it was actually quite bad for my mental health. I recommend against this.

The "platforming" sections are marred by awful camera function and instill a massive sense of pointlessness. The exploration is a waste of time in the empty, boring world, which can take an age to traverse at times. The general combat is tedious and repetitive, with next to no satisfying payoff at any point. Shmup patterns and controls feel amateuring at best, leaving anyone with any experience in the genre bored to tears or laughing out of despair.

The only redeeming factor is the soundtrack, which is just wonderful. It's just a sad fate for the composer, that their talent and hard work is forver attached to this sad excuse for a game. How anyone is giving this 5-6/10 is confusing enough, seeing the 10's on display is just outright hilarious. Quite telling that they often never say what is actually good about it and just call it a masterpiece.

Avoid like the plague, or just watch a longplay and play anything else. You'll have served your time better in the long run.

-I died on the main quest because the character was locked looking at the scenario because of a side quest, the game locked me in position while enemies beat me to death.
-The personalization of chips isn't satisfactory at all.
-There is too much walking in the game.

    Dont buy! Two reasons:
1: You need to be lucky for your specs being able to handle without problems.
    2: Square Enix.
A new version is coming out and i doubt they will respect old users enough to give the update for free.

For PC gamers, it's not promising anything except sexy panties. That why poor console players engorgement with these kind of games. They are really poor for real gaming quality in consoles. Real games are builds for PC not for consoles. As an old console players I've spoken.

This might be one of the best games to come out in the entirety of 2017, but absolutely the worst release on Steam in years for Chinese region! Square Enix has long locked the game from Asian region while serving the fanbase in western countries. And when it came to the release day for China eventually, the game sold well like hell with a price of 199 RMB, but in the wake of strong sales, SE pumped up the price to a heilish 412 RMB, which happened two hours right after the unlock in Chinese region and this new price is even higher than that of its global day-one release! If you think you're so wealthy but have no place to spare your money upon, then you're more than welcome to come to China and buy this game, because in China, the price for this one is the most expensive among all nations in the world! This long and still not even a mention of a patch or confirmation they are working on issues. Still can't play because of the white screen crash.

The game could fantastic, but for 80$ their behavior, or lack of, is an embarrassing failure as far as I'm concerned.

Sometimes frustrating but always compelling, Nier: Automata is a wondrous and strange experience that could only ever be a game. [Issue#261, p.60]

This unusual action game set in an offbeat world created by Taro Yoko is a treasure trove of pleasant surprises. It's not often that we meet such a stylish, offbeat, memorable game.

There is no doubt that Nier Automata is a great game, but the PC version does not do it justice. A new case of a shameless port for PC.
