  1. This is a game that is conceptually sound, has solid graphics and sound and plays well. It will take time to get into and learn the intricacies of the game, but therein lies the fun and the challenge.

With it's fine blend of chess based tactics and action, the game is a total delight.
  3. A unique game for a unique type of gamer. If offers a challenging blend of real-time tactics in a 3D action setting reminiscent of "Diablo" and set in the energized world of televised sports and live audiences.
  4. Fails to rise above its predecessors. A perfect example of a Fans Only title, as most tacticians and strategy gamers would rather have a bit more meat in their titles.

While no single aspect of Nexagon is truly unique, the total package is a winner - surprisingly fun and addictive. [Nov 2003, p.110]

Don't bother. It's really not deep or visually exciting enough to keep you interested.
  7. The problem with Nexagon is that the gameplay isn't enjoyable because of the all the elements that don't gel together in a cohesive way. The AI doesn't always work.
  8. A fairly unique game. Unfortunately, sluggish controls, missing features in the interface, and a nonexistent online community detract from an otherwise decent strategy game.
  9. Cheat Code Central

It straddles the line between "mediocre" and "good" with an occasional spike into "brilliant."
  10. It is a sad fact that there are simply not many people playing the game, and I was hard pressed to find a single person to play with.

Somewhere inside Nexagon: Deathmatch, there's an interesting concept trying to get out, but the arena combat, base building, and futuristic sports theme never gel. The lack of clear instruction, the fun-killing load times, frequently lame combat, and some bugs and pathfinding problems don't do the game any favors.

The concept wasn't bad, but N:D's uninspiring execution and lack of depth make for a forgettable gaming experience... Rock/paper/scissors is a more challenging strategy game. [Nov 2003, p.136]

Even while you're getting a few laughs out of certain moments, the whole enchilada fogs your brain to the point where you don't know how you're supposed to play the game. [Nov 2003, p.92]
