Amazing game, but technical issues are prevalent right now. Might be best to wait a little while longer until they fix the netcode and stability issues.

The game looks really good, story mode is superb, x-ray attacks rock! But... there's no way to play with 4 players simultaneously! Even Mortal Kombat 9 had this feature.

It is subjective but for me this is the best looking fighting game on the PC ever. The combat animations are fluid the designs of the stages and the look are top noch quality. It really feels as a next gen game.

I am playing on a 5.1 home cinema system on TV and the surround sound quality is also high quality every audio comes from the right channel at the right time. The music is just as "good" as in the previous titles and thanks to the improved graphic the gore is even more brutal than before.

I have played aroun 150 online matches and 90% of the time there were no lag I could feel and I could find matches within a minute, There are player created rooms for online also so if you that 1 min is too long for some you can find battle faster there and make friends so you can battle later easier, Thanks to the steam implementation I could Invite my friends easily to private games through the steam shift+tab interface,

I had 1 crash during my 50hour gameplay but maybe that my PC and not the game because its an OCed AMD FX8350 with r9 280, The performance is a pleasant supprise. Fix 60fps at every stage on max settings except one called Particles its on 30% but I haven't realized the differecne between 100 and 30 anyway, So the performance is perfect for me,

By the way I think its better to ignore the 0 scores because half of them were made becasue "launch time confusion" people had crashes because they had 3gb preload installed and that only allowed to use the menu until the launch unlock. The other half were made because unlucky users with old or wrong configured hardware,

This game is 9/10 it will be 10/10 if they will improve the multiplayer matchmaking/ranking because even though you can find match easily I felt that ithe ranking system is not working properly yet so you maybe matched with player with a much better win loss ration than yours.

    Tested Steam version

I've been trying to make the game work, I really did. It simply doesn't work, crashing after I've tried my best to fix the crashes for hours.

As to add a bit of humor to the game - "best main menu I've ever bought 10/10"

I tried turning down ALL the graphics options (800x600 resolution with everything low/off, particles bar completely to the left) and the framerate STILL dips below 60fps quite often....AT 800X600 RES!!!! Simply put, the game itself is fun, graphics are mostly up to par.

However it is so obvious that they did not put in the effort to optimize this on the pc

I'm guessing like 5~6 more updates before the game runs "as it should" on the pc

It's still playable but just simply insulting the way they ported this game

I spent 4 hours today just getting the game to launch (3 downloads, .dll fixes, and monitor issues. After that I get greeted the with inability to set my change my keybinds without the game crashing, the game crashing from trying to open steam overlay, and crashing from alt+tabbing. This is a total pass at $60 until they fix all this. At launch this is a 2/10 on PC.

Mortal Kombat X is the tenth Mortal Kombat game and is the first one for the next generation. The PC launch was awful but now that the game works I can say that it's a very fun beat em up with a pretty good story in my opinion.

I'm not disappointed in the DLC offerings, and I believe the delivery of Goro as a pre-order incentive was a fair execution.

I gladly sacrifice having a massive roster in favor of the quality put into each character, making them both entertaining and graphically awesome. So much replayability will keep this oldschool fan playing for a good while.

I love the game itself, but I'm disappointed like a lone monkey because this isn't the first time they mess up. MK9 was like this at the time .. I don't give a thing about High-Voltage's history. This port was NRS's responsibility and they messed up.

I can play OKish and am playing but .. I just can't recommend this game to who has low to middle end of PCs. Do not buy this now.

I´m a little disappointed of the new MKX (i´ve been a fan since MK1). Graphically(technically) it´s definitely an improvement over MK9 and there a handful of good fatalities BUT the arenas are few and quite boring, there is no visible damage on the fighters (liked it a lot in MK9). And that stupid 30-60-30-60 FPS thing is annoying!
So just another game rotting in my steam library...

TLDR: The game is a great new fighter. MKX has brought new life to the Mortal Kombat franchise. Yes PC steam launch went bad but it has quickly gotten past the opening night problems.

    Lets talk about the game.
I talk about the opening night problems at the bottom of the Review.

First thing you will do is pick a faction to "Fight" for as you play through the game. You can change at any time but any progress in the previous faction is erased. The faction wars allow you to gain new Fatalities and other benefits while sided with that faction. There are also random INVASIONS that will happen when one strong Faction will invade another. This gives you boss fights and Invasion towers that net you even more Faction XP. The winning faction after the week long war will get a prize as well.
The story: The story really good for a fighter. It feels like they really put allot of effort into making it feel like a movie. The quick time events were interesting enough to want to replay them to see how the fight changes. The only problem I had was being thrown on as another character just as I started to get the hang of the previous one I was thrown into. All and all 8/10. Yes that is scaled for a fighter campaign.

Fighters: There are 24 characters with 3 variations each. There is also a DLC character that you could get for free if you had Pre-ordered the game (GORO). Each character has 3 variations that changes the way you can optimally play the fighter. In a sense this gives this meager 24 fighter a multiplier of 3. Each character has a distinct feel and seems to play very differently than any of the other characters. The combos are fluid and you can get some really amazing juggles in with some practice. There are 6 new characters making their debut in Mortal Kombat as well.

DLC: There is a Kombat Pack out now that allows you to pre-purchase 4 Character DLC. Jason, Tremor, Predator (Yes from the Movies), and Tanya.

Offline: Single Player Towers, Training, Matches: The single player training is pretty good. It gives you various AI options and allows you to train like any other fighting game. You can allow the inputs to show up on the left side of the screen in order to tell where your combo is going wrong. They also have a nice recording feature where it will record your inputs and allow you to replay them later. I found this useful when trying out a new juggle combo.
The Towers are back and with new options! There are the regular Tower where you climb up beating each foe with your chosen character until you reach and beat the big baddie. A little cinematic story shows up and gives each character a personal ending. There are also Weekly, daily, and hourly Towers that show up and have various changes to the gameplay. This makes each tower a different challenge and keeps things fresh. There are going to be towers that let you play as characters you don't own as well.
The single player AI fights are pretty good. The Medium is manageable, Hard kicks it up a notch, and Very Hard makes you want to punch the screen. All according to plan.

ONLINE: The online seems to vary from person to person right now. I personally have not had any problems with crashes when joining games or frame drops. Others have reported this however.

Online Modes: There are many options for online play.
There are Rooms that you can join and see your chances of winning against the other players. You can challenge anyone not yet in a game.
There is Versus, that allows for Player V Player, Test your luck, or just regular Practice. Test your luck is a fun game mode that puts in random gameplay modifiers that can completely change the way you fight.
Team Battles: Team battles are split up into Faction Match, Ranked Match, Player Match, and Private Matches. Faction Match allows you to team up with others of your Faction to Fight opposing Faction teams. Ranked is the normal W/L counting towards your 2 man Teams leader board ranking.
King Of The Hill: In this mode you try and win as many matches in a row as possible while the loser of each match is switched out for the next player in line. There is also a Survivor version where your health at the end of the match carries over to the next and so on.
Tower Battle Online. This is where you and a friend or online player compete for the highest score in randomly generated towers.
There are leader boards and Online "Kombat" history.

I admit that this game has had a rough start. Day one of the midnight release allowed us to download a 3 gig installer and then we waited another 14 hours until we were actually able to start the real download. This was supposedly a Steam problem. After downloading the game we had yet another problem. The online, story and a few other options were still not available. Only 1 statement from the company saying they knew there was a problem. 2 days later it seems that everything is working with the exception of some people losing connection during online matches

The game is fine. There is no problem with it unless you have a crap ass computer. You have to let everything download for it to be 100%. Like every game. I'm not sure why it is getting bad reviews, but from the looks of it, it looks like it's from FPS drops and crashing. Like I said, none of that ever happens to me. Not sure what I did.

Decent enough gameplay, graphics etc. but poor netcode and very disappoining lack of characters. The game is currently missing Nightwolf, Noob, Sindel, Stryker, Sheeva, Rain, Smoke, Sektor, Cyrax, Kabal, Baraka, and other regulars. No doubt they will be added later as paid DLC... on top of the £50+ for the base game and kombat pack addon, I already feel ripped off.

Heaven and Hell, you can even watch your matches in form of replays, how cool is that.

    Pros:
    - it's Mortal Kombat
    - it has Sub-Zero
    - intense, fast-paced fight
    - fantastic roster
    - Klassic towers with story endings
    - online di'k showing off
    - Krypt
    - Replay

    Cons:

    - quick and short story, interesting, but nothing more
    - QTE, which i like, but i know others don't
    - launch problems obviously
    - non playable fighters (MK9 Baraka, and Rain in story, but not in the game - possible DLC?)
    - Internet spoiled (you should've close your eyes, but you just can't. it's MK, i wanted to know everything)

Basically except the bad launch, the short story, and the very hardcore spoiled content, i don't have any problem with MKX. It's back, it's groovy, and

MKX will last you for a long time. A few variations of the usual Arcade Mode, some dumb mini-games, online multiplayer, a lengthy story campaign, and, finally, Krypt… Not all changes to gameplay mechanics are obvious, but they do make the game more dynamic.
  3. It’s still the same fun and crazy fighting that demands from the player exactly as much as he wants to give. You can gather your friends and simply mash buttons to enjoy bloody spectacle, or you can spend hours perfecting your techniques to compete with professional players. No matter how you choose to play it, MKX will find something to offer. [June 2015, p.64]
