A bad port even in 2022. I finished the story but the game glitched and stuttered again and again. I cannot imagine the state of it at release.
Bought it again on sale for PS4.

I hate and love this game at the same time. Absolutely unbalanced, but nevertheless I played it, participated in tournaments and got a kind of pleasure. But what NRS is doing with the fighting game genre is a spit in the soul of the fans.

Jogo rápido e dinâmico, um bom jogo de luta mas me incomodei com a história rasa e sem graça e ela se leva muito a sério o que é um problema pra mim em MK, principalmente pelos acontecimentos sem sentido

This is still MK, but, gosh, I hate this new system with styles! I think this game is only good enough to run quickly the story mode and then jump to MK 11.

    Good:
    - Brutality returned and reworked.
    - Run, arena interactions. - Base animations are more fluid and consistent, with some laughable exceptions (google A.B.I.torial) - Overall slight improvements everywhere. I like:
    - Minor changes or details to chars. Like new Mileena's teeth, Kitana's awesome jumps animations like yeah she jumps with such grace, that only MK9 Sonya's jump kick can compete; Kano overall aestetic of old ugly survivalist, hell they even added fat to his back, to make him look like he got his strenght not from gym, but from actually killing people.
    - More character-based combos, that actually uses unique strengths of each.

    I dont like:
    - Game has problems with gamma and color pallets. It feels like it has a brown filter all over all textures and lighting in this game is one of the worst, making every scene look darkend, has unnatural shadows and all in all feels like a mess.
    - Arenas are mostly nighttime, has only one version of them and lack uniqueness. Exceptions are Jungles and Wharf.
    - Downgraded female bodies. They have bodies of 16 olds, no ass, no breasts, because having those for females is evil and toxic and patriarchy.
People agreed MK9 once were a bit over the top. MKX is extreme overcompensation for this. Female either wear generic NPC soldier jackets(Jacqui/Sonya) or some generic top+trousers suit (Mileena/Tanya). And dont you dare show some skin.
Design in 9 been critisized for lacking personality and "all the heroines are the same".
Well, now they are so **** different.
The only bright exceptions are Kitana and Dvorah’s alt.
    - Hard emphasis on Special Force who no one like. Now we have like 4 Stryker characters for tfs.
    - Hard emphasis on online, lack of single player content. (I really miss MK9 challenge tower)
    - No tag.
    - Soundtrack first time in 25 years is forgettable at best and adds to all-in-all bland feeling of being in airless and stuffy place.

    Bad:
    - Variation system. While being a valid idea, the implementation was heavily flawed. In half the cases, the variations represent different sides of the same character. But others exist in parallel to the character, which could easily be given to any other. Like Sonya's drone. The joke is that in MK11 drone now is given to Cassie. There are like 5 characters who has telekinetic or summoning spells like Cage, Ermac, Kenshi, Scorpion which make lines between heroes completely blured.
    - New heroes mostly uninspired, bland NPCs, both in looks and personality. “Kids” are just teenager movie mary sues. "But I like Jackie!1!" - look, I have an idea how ho check coolness. Ask yourself "Will this character be cool as a Guest Character in another game?" I can imagine Scorpion or even Kung Lao be guests in IJ or other fightings. But will enyone buy Kung Jin dlc pack?
    - Retconing new heroes into story.
    - Story mode.
Is B movie, blockbuster filled with most boring cliche's like:
Faceless NPC armies, existing only to get kicked by heroes.
Supervillain that shows off at the beginning and disappear until the end.
Characters kept to some unnatural roles and squads losing their identity, like Liu Kang and Syndel riding HELLHORSES.
Just, just you know, its time to stop.
Also chapter-based story makes all of enemy characters always lose, so how should we believe Quan Chi is a threat if he’s got beaten by everyone?

Someone says MKX has "evolved from just mindless violence" plot. And I disagree.
We love MK for brutality, blood, gore and sex-appeal.
And not for family "things", generations issues and block-buster clichés. I got a dissonance when characters who is this teenager-movie H E R O E S talk to their parents in pre-fights and then bone-ripping part kicks in. Its lame.
We love every piece of art for what it is, for its unique themes and features. Bringing MK plot to Hollywood B movie type and Humanization of characters of bone-ripping game is not evolution its losing identity in trying to appeal to wider audience. MKX attempt to make multi-dimensional characters ended up with making almost everyone boring, mediocre and uninspiring.
Between having a 5 sentences long but hinting to something more bio and fully fleshed out but mediocre (at best) "personality" I choose first.

I don’t want emo-kid Takeda to cry over my screen, I want Jax fighting after losing his hands.
I don’t want out-of-nowhere FEELINGS between dude and Cassie’s forgettable girlfriend I want betrayals and mature regrets.
I dont want Hanzo Hasashi I want Scorpion.
I dont want Injustice I want MK.

MKX seemed to be in the middle of the morality spectrum. It was a jack of all trades, if you will. The roster was good, but we felt there could've and should've been some more fitted in there, the story is good as well, but seemed to rely only on asinine misunderstanding, and the gameplay was great, but good luck going online and not being met with either a player who's spent collective weeks playing and mastering the game, or a player who is just as good as you, but just knows how to use a projectile. So yeah, online sucks, what else is new. Anyways, I feel the third party characters in this game feel like they have a justification for being there, unlike Thanos in MK9 who was just there because you decided that buying a Mortal Kombat game on a Playstation was a good idea. but I digress, Mortal Kombat left a sour taste in my mouth, but I've played worse. *coughmkvsdcuniversecough* Expand

Now we see that online playing is interesting, fatalities and Brutalities are great, but without great epic scenario, which was in MK9, game lose's its attractiveness. I'll give this game 7 out of 10. If u, developers, read me, make some kind of very interesting story mode, or make DLC with another story. Expand

Overall, MKX is a poor title. At the end of the day you will end up being bored to tears fighting against the same cookie-cutter combos online or you will end up being annoyed as much as it is possible fighting against your typical MK input reading AI. The game mechanics are still beyond terrible, and the game does a really poor job explaining them (eg. grabs work in absolutely different way than the game informs you). The balance is absolutely off - people will play Scrubpion, Erron, Ermac and few other one overpowered combo characters (punch walk ftw), while some characters are just terribly, terribly weak (Ferra/Tor, Mileena and others).

It's a fun game for a while and living towers can deliver few minutes of entertainment. It's a safe bet for 5 €. 50 € - just no.

Great game with compelling story and graphics and very inclusive of the minorities but runs terrible and it's an awful port. lowest settings or highest settings it just lags and stutters like hell. Why make a port if you don't want to make it a good one like GTA V or Witcher 3.

There's an awesome game buried under a ton of pretty bad things.
Most anoying thing for me is the fact thatyou have to use the basic WASD controls in menu and in the crypt even when you rebind the keys.
A terrible conversion of a fantastic game. Shame, but still enjoyable.

By the way Teen Army ( cassie, jac, tak, kung) in MKX is fccuking annoying with Next Generation (teens) dull faces.
X Rays:In MKX bones break like plastic. They are 2 frame Xrays ie 1st frame bone normal(intact) and on impact 2nd frame bone breaks. It dilutes intensity of X Ray. Why not bones crush on instant impact like in MK9?
For PC X-Rays are pure cinematic 30FPS and gameplay is 60FPS on lower resolution. The frame drop from 60-30fps for x-rays makes my eyes bleed and x-rays look slow motion. X rays are supposed to be internal damage due to special moves performed by characters. So there should be a physical contact! As far as piercing and aerial Xrays are not actual Xrays. ( corrupted shinnok; kenshi;Erron Black etc).
Xrays are not part of gameplay this time and are on cinematic side. Lui Kang Xray performs 11 hits on opponent in which 2 hits break bones and I have to sit and watch the damn 11 hits again & again every match when he performs Xray. In MK9 Lui Kang X Ray was superb with just 2 hits(upper cut & kick) & it looked damn nice . If you compare Xrays of MK9 with MKX; MK9 Xrays are superior and well designed(feel fresh) compared to MKX which get boring very fast and I wish there should have been a button to skip Xray cinematic in MKX for Cassie cage because that xray is a brutal one and my nuts say to my brain don’t select cassie since you can feel your nuts getting crushed is worst nightmare for a boy.
Fatalities:Fatalities are supposed to be humiliation of the opponent. MKX fatalities have become cliché like SAW movies you go on cutting people for no reason and yet the movie wants to be in a horror genre. This is not horror! Cutting people like vegetables. Similarly MKX fatalities now don’t reflect humiliation of opponent. It represents you just have to cut your opponent in number of small pieces like onion and in any way as possible. The camera angles for fatalities are disgusting show all brain & intestine. I get it you have to cut but it can be shown in less graphic and not letting camera almost touch slaughtered bodies and showing the winning character.
Gameplay mechanics: The game looks fast in videos but the PC version feels weird. The characters feel heavy. The characters don’t respond to the commands and due to this it is difficult to achieve multiple combos at a time (+ 30% damage: Kitana’s kombos difficult to achieve). Sometimes moves appear slow (Kano jump in air appears slow while playing: 60fps).
The characters jump automatically in stages due to props( jumps due to animal sitting in Outworld stage) at first I couldn’t understand why the fccuk my character is jumping and not punching . Then throw items that are on stage (throw a branch of tree) randomly character does this action ruins kombos and flow of fighting.
The special moves of characters ( jaqcline, jax ,sonya(1 variation)) have missiles, rocket launcher, terminator flying machine, machine guns!! Seriously?? MKX now has to depend on rockets and bullets in the game. You can just spam all the through the round with these and win.
Instead of ( X,A,Y,B) why the game doesn’t have alternate mapping for right stick? I know many gamers don’t play with right stick but kombos can be performed relatively easy using right Analog stick. Now just smash the buttons X,B then Y doesn’t get registered so kombo fails and again smash the buttons X,B…So we have to win the game performing only 2 or 3 moves during the round. The fighting lacks rhythm atleast on pc and not to forget FPS drops while playing.
Now for the variation of characters the downside of this is some of the charcters have less kombos in one of their variation( e.g: X,X,Y,B is broken into X,X,Y AND Y-B etc.) my point is main kombo is broken into several parts in a variation. Now the downside of this feature is when you play classic tower or continous matches you are left with handful of kombos to perform during the tower which feels boring after 7th or 8th match.

I would recommend buying the game on console if you have the option, otherwise I think the game will be worth it in the long run for PC. I think I saw this game for $20 on g2a, I would have felt better purchasing this game at that price but unfortunately I paid full price for a game that wasn't yet ready for release on PC.

MKX will last you for a long time. A few variations of the usual Arcade Mode, some dumb mini-games, online multiplayer, a lengthy story campaign, and, finally, Krypt… Not all changes to gameplay mechanics are obvious, but they do make the game more dynamic.
  3. It’s still the same fun and crazy fighting that demands from the player exactly as much as he wants to give. You can gather your friends and simply mash buttons to enjoy bloody spectacle, or you can spend hours perfecting your techniques to compete with professional players. No matter how you choose to play it, MKX will find something to offer. [June 2015, p.64]
