There's an awesome game buried under a ton of pretty bad things.
Most anoying thing for me is the fact thatyou have to use the basic WASD controls in menu and in the crypt even when you rebind the keys.
A terrible conversion of a fantastic game. Shame, but still enjoyable.

I've always been a much bigger fan of the Capcom series, and so it is today. However, it is undeniable that Capcom's latest decisions have distanced Street Fighter from many players. Unlike Mortal Kombat, which has gotten better with every game.

In the past, the game I played most was Mortal Kombat Trilogy (I also love Mythologies Sub-Zero). However, since the time of PSOne, I haven't played a game from the franchise. And I decided to give MK X a chance. And it was an excellent decision.

The game is excellent in all aspects. Beautiful graphics, great gameplay, very cool stages and the best story mode of fighting games so far.

It has a lot to teach my favorite franchise, Street Fighter. Mandatory game for fighting games fans.

However after a while you realise it's a below average port from a console generation, with hopeless netcode that makes online play virtually impossible (if you can even find a game), greedy money grabbing micro transactions, expensive DLC which should have been in the game in the first place and now to top it off, no more content or support for PC players.

Completely unacceptable way to treat your loyal customers and fans.

For this insulting treatment, I give you a 1 out of 10.

The port came off rocky, though after a while the game was playable and ran well, but online could use improvements. Instead of fixing their game, WB decides to screw over PC players by not only keeping the MKXL edition on XBONE and PS4 only, but it also will not have Kombat Pack 2. This is **** PC shouldn't be an afterthought and left in the wind.

Warner Brothers and NetherRealm have now pulled support for the PC version and officially stated that it will not be receiving both the Kombat Pack 2 DLC and the much anticipated update to the online netcode. The PC version is now dead in the water; if you want to play MKX do it on a console but do you really want to support WB after both this and the latest Batman game?

The graphics are brilliant and the fighting combat gameplay is exceptional. This could have been the premier fighting game on the PC, but alas the broken multiplayer component puts it at a mediocre value. What good is good gameplay when you rarely get to play? Buy the console version or skip it.

I'm not good at fightings, but comparing this game and, say, Tekken 3, MK has much much worse controls. In Tekken 3 you could perform awesome combos, they were easy to learn and easy to perform. I almost broke my fingers but still cant make it out. Graphics are good, indeed, it is 2015 after all, but nothing special. To summarise: if you are bad at fightings as me this is a bad game to start with.

The game mechanics are still beyond terrible, and the game does a really poor job explaining them (eg. grabs work in absolutely different way than the game informs you). The balance is absolutely off - people will play Scrubpion, Erron, Ermac and few other one overpowered combo characters (punch walk ftw), while some characters are just terribly, terribly weak (Ferra/Tor, Mileena and others).

Though there is a reason I didn't give this a 10/10 cause it definately had that potential. The gameplay in this is amazing and I love it. But the story (spoiler alert), when did the great Quanchii, ruler of the netherrealm and master of the mystic arts become such a girl? He gets beaten in here so many times by almost anyone even a trainee speacial ops and wow not only him, the great evil non-forgiving necromancer Shinok himself is a girl too. Netherrealmers in this game are wearing skirts it's almost funny and where's 2 by 2 combat? It was the best feature of the previous right. Anyway, apart from that you're in for a treat. Graphics, character arcs, gameplay and one of the best feature ever seen, environment interactions! And an awesome ending feud between our stars. I loved it Eddy Expand

Also, the DLC decisions are the epitome of nickel and dime. It's getting ridiculous when games are ridiculously over budgeted. Insane multimillion costs are ballooning the price of games and its frankly ridiculous to burden consumers with these costs just to have a game break even.

Broken release, **** DLC crap, waaay worse story mode than MK9 and bad PC controls without game pad. Other than that this game is fun with very good graphics and solid combat. I really think that MK9 was way superior to this game, but this game is still decent (not great, bud not horrible).

Netherealm Studios has completely messed up their series after such a great entry as Mortal Kombat 9. Not even mentioning how broken the PC version is, the story is horrible, the character line-up leaves much to be desired, the fatalities are toned down and the gameplay is a step back from MK9. I can't find it in myself to enjoy this game.

There are many reasons to love and hate this game, especially this PC version.

-Shuttering and other FPS issues that seem unfixable
    -Players losing save files
    -Slow to patch game
-Many others depending person to person and on your hardware
-Pre order bonus character Goro and other day one DLC, Kombat Pack characters aren't available right away. More than likely much more in game purchases to come.

I would recommend buying the game on console if you have the option, otherwise I think the game will be worth it in the long run for PC. I think I saw this game for $20 on g2a, I would have felt better purchasing this game at that price but unfortunately I paid full price for a game that wasn't yet ready for release on PC.

I'm not disappointed in the DLC offerings, and I believe the delivery of Goro as a pre-order incentive was a fair execution.

I gladly sacrifice having a massive roster in favor of the quality put into each character, making them both entertaining and graphically awesome. So much replayability will keep this oldschool fan playing for a good while.

I must tell you that this will be the best fighting game you can find for a long time, until Ed Boon will initiate the next Mortal Kombat fighting game. The new characters are adopted perfectly both by the story and the gameplay. There are a whole lot of new finishers, DLC characters, purchasable and free costumes; hourly, daily, weekly and monthly events which make the game unbeatable. The only thing that's missing is the double-team-play which allowed 4 people to fight in pairs and 2-player klassic tower, however I am kind of happy about it because sometimes that is another reason to take out MK9 from its package for a change.
I believe MKX is the fighting game not only for its loyal fans but also for every gamer who can appreciate its qualities. It definitely worths the price and the time you'll spend. Enjoy it.

The game is currently missing Nightwolf, Noob, Sindel, Stryker, Sheeva, Rain, Smoke, Sektor, Cyrax, Kabal, Baraka, and other regulars. Heaven and Hell, you can even watch your matches in form of replays, how cool is that.

    Pros:
    - it's Mortal Kombat
    - it has Sub-Zero
    - intense, fast-paced fight
    - fantastic roster
    - Klassic towers with story endings
    - online di'k showing off
    - Krypt
    - Replay

    Cons:

    - quick and short story, interesting, but nothing more
    - QTE, which i like, but i know others don't
    - launch problems obviously
    - non playable fighters (MK9 Baraka, and Rain in story, but not in the game - possible DLC?)
    - Internet spoiled (you should've close your eyes, but you just can't. it's MK, i wanted to know everything)

Basically except the bad launch, the short story, and the very hardcore spoiled content, i don't have any problem with MKX. It's back, it's groovy, and

I am playing on a 5.1 home cinema system on TV and the surround sound quality is also high quality every audio comes from the right channel at the right time. The music is just as "good" as in the previous titles and thanks to the improved graphic the gore is even more brutal than before.

I have played aroun 150 online matches and 90% of the time there were no lag I could feel and I could find matches within a minute, There are player created rooms for online also so if you that 1 min is too long for some you can find battle faster there and make friends so you can battle later easier, Thanks to the steam implementation I could Invite my friends easily to private games through the steam shift+tab interface,

I had 1 crash during my 50hour gameplay but maybe that my PC and not the game because its an OCed AMD FX8350 with r9 280, The performance is a pleasant supprise. Fix 60fps at every stage on max settings except one called Particles its on 30% but I haven't realized the differecne between 100 and 30 anyway, So the performance is perfect for me,

By the way I think its better to ignore the 0 scores because half of them were made becasue "launch time confusion" people had crashes because they had 3gb preload installed and that only allowed to use the menu until the launch unlock. The other half were made because unlucky users with old or wrong configured hardware,

This game is 9/10 it will be 10/10 if they will improve the multiplayer matchmaking/ranking because even though you can find match easily I felt that ithe ranking system is not working properly yet so you maybe matched with player with a much better win loss ration than yours.

TLDR: The game is a great new fighter. MKX has brought new life to the Mortal Kombat franchise. Yes PC steam launch went bad but it has quickly gotten past the opening night problems.

    Lets talk about the game.
I talk about the opening night problems at the bottom of the Review.

First thing you will do is pick a faction to "Fight" for as you play through the game. You can change at any time but any progress in the previous faction is erased. The faction wars allow you to gain new Fatalities and other benefits while sided with that faction. There are also random INVASIONS that will happen when one strong Faction will invade another. This gives you boss fights and Invasion towers that net you even more Faction XP. The winning faction after the week long war will get a prize as well.
The story: The story really good for a fighter. It feels like they really put allot of effort into making it feel like a movie. The quick time events were interesting enough to want to replay them to see how the fight changes. The only problem I had was being thrown on as another character just as I started to get the hang of the previous one I was thrown into. All and all 8/10. Yes that is scaled for a fighter campaign.

Fighters: There are 24 characters with 3 variations each. There is also a DLC character that you could get for free if you had Pre-ordered the game (GORO). Each character has 3 variations that changes the way you can optimally play the fighter. In a sense this gives this meager 24 fighter a multiplier of 3. Each character has a distinct feel and seems to play very differently than any of the other characters. The combos are fluid and you can get some really amazing juggles in with some practice. There are 6 new characters making their debut in Mortal Kombat as well.

DLC: There is a Kombat Pack out now that allows you to pre-purchase 4 Character DLC. Jason, Tremor, Predator (Yes from the Movies), and Tanya.

Offline: Single Player Towers, Training, Matches: The single player training is pretty good. It gives you various AI options and allows you to train like any other fighting game. You can allow the inputs to show up on the left side of the screen in order to tell where your combo is going wrong. They also have a nice recording feature where it will record your inputs and allow you to replay them later. I found this useful when trying out a new juggle combo.
The Towers are back and with new options! There are the regular Tower where you climb up beating each foe with your chosen character until you reach and beat the big baddie. A little cinematic story shows up and gives each character a personal ending. There are also Weekly, daily, and hourly Towers that show up and have various changes to the gameplay. This makes each tower a different challenge and keeps things fresh. There are going to be towers that let you play as characters you don't own as well.
The single player AI fights are pretty good. The Medium is manageable, Hard kicks it up a notch, and Very Hard makes you want to punch the screen. All according to plan.

ONLINE: The online seems to vary from person to person right now. I personally have not had any problems with crashes when joining games or frame drops. Others have reported this however.

Online Modes: There are many options for online play.
There are Rooms that you can join and see your chances of winning against the other players. You can challenge anyone not yet in a game.
There is Versus, that allows for Player V Player, Test your luck, or just regular Practice. Test your luck is a fun game mode that puts in random gameplay modifiers that can completely change the way you fight.
Team Battles: Team battles are split up into Faction Match, Ranked Match, Player Match, and Private Matches. Faction Match allows you to team up with others of your Faction to Fight opposing Faction teams. Ranked is the normal W/L counting towards your 2 man Teams leader board ranking.
King Of The Hill: In this mode you try and win as many matches in a row as possible while the loser of each match is switched out for the next player in line. There is also a Survivor version where your health at the end of the match carries over to the next and so on.
Tower Battle Online. This is where you and a friend or online player compete for the highest score in randomly generated towers.
There are leader boards and Online "Kombat" history.

I admit that this game has had a rough start. Day one of the midnight release allowed us to download a 3 gig installer and then we waited another 14 hours until we were actually able to start the real download. This was supposedly a Steam problem. After downloading the game we had yet another problem. The online, story and a few other options were still not available. Only 1 statement from the company saying they knew there was a problem. 2 days later it seems that everything is working with the exception of some people losing connection during online matches

The game itself is bad. I used to play Mortal Kombat 1,2,3, Ultimate, and Trilogy, like a maniac back when i was a kid, with friends from school. It was a cult-like thing for us. We loved it to death. When i play the recent iterations, especially this latest one, X, i shake my head. This is actually worse than the 2D games, seriously. How is that possible?

The port is bad, heavily unoptimized. Requires a ton of cpu and gpu resources for very mediocre graphics. It is also glitchy.

And to top it all, they stopped supporting the game while they still support the console versions. Hey!! Hello! PC gamers' money stink?

That is why you will never see our money again. Never forget.

The last MK game I played was was the 2011 game on PS3, and I thought it felt a little like a public domain game, a bit rough around the edges and for me the thrill was definitely gone, but then again the basic idea wasn't invigorated much. - Characters of campaign thay you defeat but you cant play with it.
    - A very strange coloring/saturation/contrast in the game. Like killer instinct at xbox one, that spoil the graphics!

For that reasons I bealive that MKX is worse than the last one (MK 2011). The MK 2011 bring back the game. So I think MKX should only add new features and characters, not remove then.

Parece o killer instinct do xbox one.

Great game with compelling story and graphics and very inclusive of the minorities but runs terrible and it's an awful port. lowest settings or highest settings it just lags and stutters like hell. Why make a port if you don't want to make it a good one like GTA V or Witcher 3.

Mortal Kombat X is the tenth Mortal Kombat game and is the first one for the next generation. The PC launch was awful but now that the game works I can say that it's a very fun beat em up with a pretty good story in my opinion.

Dropped support of still pretty **** broken PC version... just why? Shame on you, Ed Boon! I don't give a **** about your excuses for this **** you are the head of development team, the main guy so it's your personal fault as well. Fanboys can try to protect you by saying that it's a WB or HV fail, but I don't buy it.

Mortal Kombat X is almost everything you can ask for a fighting game.
the Combat is amazing, the fight is freaking brutal.and every character is unique and fun to play.
Tons of cool skills you can use to hurt your opponent.
the optimization is not good but enough for me,
Love the story mode, its so cinematic and interesting.
MKX is a 8/10 ,much mucg better than the god damn Last round 5

The story line to MKX was a huge improvement from other games in the genre. Mostly story in a fighting game are stale to nonexistent, which I understand its more about the fighting then the actually story for those hardcore fighter players out there. This story was amazing. Making me wanting to keep playing and not put the controller down. There where areas that could of been more explored, more background into the new characters being one area of interest.
The gameplay was as you would normally have; combos, uppercuts, x-ray explosions of testicles. They made it more enjoyable for non fighter experts to slightly (for lack of a better word) dumb down the button sequence for the Fatality and a more clear line of what needs to be accomplished for a Brutality
Outside of the story mode, mulitplayer, faction war and everything else going on there was they Krypt. Where you spend your bloody koins on unlocking skins, more fatalitys, and concept art. You did this through a maze of a hidden mini game with jump scares and a a need of finding certain items to unlock more areas. They did a incredible job on the krypt.
At the time of writing this review, the game did seem to have a unfortunate glitch with the steam cloud and I lost all my game data. Losing 14 hours worth of progress. Everything lost, that whole krypt I just about had finished....gone...

I have to wait like 5 minutes to get an opponent, then i am FORCED to leave like 80% of all matches because the connections are SO BAD, slomow inoput delay like 1-3 seconds, so it IS unplaybale. IO know the term is so often overused, but here it is true, it IS unplaybale online. The matches are so stupidly idiotic because my opponent or me can't do anything that would make sense , instead we jump around like idiots in slomow and freezing screens for seconds and try to execute normal special moves which wont come off because of horrible input delays and lag. You can not even block on reaction or something, you HAVE to play a stupid game plan which abuses the fact that you can not block some normal stuff like low pokes and such **** So imagine such great matches, 2 idiots making low pokes 5 minutes long and throws. WHAT A GREAT ONLINE EXPERIENCE MAN!

At least the offline single player is good. Story mode was made good but its more of a movie than a GAME (boring). So after some hours you will get bored because there is nothing left because online just doesnt work AT ALL.

Thats the third game of NetherRealm Studios if i remember correctly which has HORRIBLE netcode... be sure i will not buy any game of them again, was my second (MK9) and for sure i will not be fooled again b those ****.

Warner Brothers and Nether Realm have pulled support for the PC version and stated it will not be receiving both the Kombat Pack 2 DLC and the update to the online net code. They abandoned PC players and showed us why we should never buy any of their products ever again.

The only thing they deserve is a high-five. In the face. With a chair.

Great game, however plot not only could be better but longer (maybe forcing you to use all characters) and no 21:9 true aspect ratio, which is a shame.

This game had a lot of problems and less characters than the consoles versions but QLOC has fixed the game and now has all DLC. A bit too late but PC players can enjoy Mortal Kombat XL at last, and the game runs ok.

This review is for the PC version of the game as it is the only version I have played.

I hate to write a bad review for Mortal Kombat X since it could of been a great game, but less then a year later WB has completely abandoned support for the game. Mortal Kombat XL, the Kombat Pack and Netcode patch will not be available essentially killing the game. The port itself is not great

The port itself is not great either, which plays on the bad Netcode that all 3 versions have. Some levels have been poorly optimized and seem to perform poorly on a lot of different computer setups. The PS4 And XBO versions will be getting this patch making online play better lowering latency and stabilizing connections.

The story is alright, but a disappointment compared to the Mortal Kombat 2011 reboot, which it had a lot to live up to.

This seems pretty standard practice for WB to completely abandon a port for PC users. This will be the last WB game I purchase.

MKX will last you for a long time. A few variations of the usual Arcade Mode, some dumb mini-games, online multiplayer, a lengthy story campaign, and, finally, Krypt… Not all changes to gameplay mechanics are obvious, but they do make the game more dynamic.
  3. It’s still the same fun and crazy fighting that demands from the player exactly as much as he wants to give. You can gather your friends and simply mash buttons to enjoy bloody spectacle, or you can spend hours perfecting your techniques to compete with professional players. No matter how you choose to play it, MKX will find something to offer. [June 2015, p.64]
