Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is the best JRPG i played this year and it will probably stay that way. I can't wait to jump back in to its addicting gameplay mechanics and gorgeous anime visuals.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is everything I’d hoped for in a follow-up to the second game, so seeing it realized so well is nothing short of fantastic. With excellent characters, a decent story, an enjoyable gameplay loop with as much grinding as you want there to be, and a really gorgeous appearance and world, it’s a genuine must play for fans of turn-based RPGs. In a year of Capcom releasing some of the most exciting titles, Monster Hunter yet again stands out with Stories 3. I’d say it’s a treat to play through, but it’s more like a full course meal you can’t get enough of. Whether you’re a fan of Monster Hunter or RPGs, you’re doing yourself a disservice by not playing.

With its gorgeous visuals and punchy character arcs, Twisted Reflection supercharges the Monster Hunter Stories formula into a whole different beast. This isn't just a sequel – it’s a total glow-up for the series, packed with dazzling world-building and more iconic monsters than you can shake your Kinship Stone at.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is the crown jewel of this spin-off series. It builds on the best elements of Stories that make all of its core systems even more appealing, creating more depth and complexity that'll keep you coming back till the credits roll, and perhaps even beyond.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection marks the coming of age for a series that, for the first time, truly manages to shake off the label of being merely a spin-off. Capcom has crafted a solid, multi-layered experience that cleverly weaves together storytelling, exploration and progression systems, finding in habitat restoration a mechanic that is as original as it is seamlessly integrated into the gameplay. The game world feels alive, rewarding curiosity and dedication, whilst the combat system refines its foundations without compromising them. Despite a few inevitable flaws — a certain simplicity in the more conventional side activities, some structural limitations in interaction with the world, and artificial intelligence that doesn’t always measure up in the later stages — the title manages to maintain a rare balance between accessibility and depth. The result is a mature, satisfying and surprisingly ambitious adventure, capable of leaving a tangible mark on the current JRPG scene.

The third Stories entry finally lives up to its name, driven by a strong narrative that keeps it engaging throughout. Giving the protagonist a voice and clear motivation proves beneficial, as do the stronger bonds within the party. Combat is more varied and enjoyable, and the restored ecosystems make hunting for the ultimate monster especially rewarding. The open world and side quests may feel underwhelming, but they represent only a small portion of the overall content.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection elevates the spin-off series to a new level with a richer narrative, deeper world exploration and a combat system that successfully translates the spirit of Monster Hunter into a turn-based JRPG. The story brings more emotional weight and political tension than expected, while the vibrant art direction and strong soundtrack reinforce the sense of adventure. Exploration remains rewarding thanks to large interconnected regions, monster abilities that influence traversal and the constant thrill of discovering rare eggs. The battle system shines through its strategic layers and monster behavior patterns, maintaining engagement across long play sessions. Although the PC version suffers from stability issues with frequent crashes, the overall experience remains highly compelling. Monster Hunter Stories 3 proves that this branch of the franchise has matured into something truly special.

Like the previous entries in the series, it still has a few rough edges in pacing and balance, but those flaws are easy to overlook thanks to its stronger storytelling and expanded gameplay systems. As the journey unfolds, the world grows richer and the bond between Rider and Monstie becomes increasingly meaningful, turning each victory and setback into something memorable.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection uses the incredible storytelling potential of the Monster Hunter universe to tell a unique, excitingly dark, and political narrative with great animation and gorgeous music. Its turn-based combat is excitingly cinematic, and if you can handle awkward flying mechanics and general JRPG pacing, you should definitely enjoy what this game has to offer.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 keeps the good parts of its predecessors, the solid battle system, the vibrant art style, and the creature collecting, then backs it up with the best storyline in the series yet. This, combined with the new habitat restoration feature and a beautiful new world, makes it my favorite entry into the series yet.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 is a great surprise, even if the story has some weak points. The combat is a bit hard at first, but it becomes very fun and strategic once you learn it. You will love exploring the beautiful world on your own monsters and watching its amazing cinematics.

Monster Hunter Stories3 sheds the juvenile tone of its predecessors, delivering a profound narrative and deep progression through its new 'Rewilding' system. By adding strategic depth to the classic rock-paper-scissors combat, it has finally transcended its spin-off roots to fully realize its identity. For fans of monster-taming RPGs and hunters seeking a fresh take on the hunt, this is the definitive choice.

With its strategic turn-based battles, expanded exploration, and a new story set in a world on the brink of collapse, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection pushes the spin-off series to a new scale. It’s a colorful JRPG adventure where bonding with monsters is just as important as defeating them.

For fans of Japanese RPGs, the changes and trade offs in Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection are largely welcome. Its combat and progression systems offer impressive depth and strategy, making the moment you finally overcome a powerful enemy feel especially rewarding. At the same time, its fairly straightforward story and solid world exploration keep the experience relaxed and enjoyable as you go about stealing eggs and completing quests.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection shows us that the spin-off series has truly come into its own, as the adventure proves remarkably solid, fully embracing the strategic identity of the spin-off series. Behind an initial approach that can be a little disorienting, its combat system and the management of Monsties reveal a thrilling depth, driven by an optimization logic faithful to the Monster Hunter DNA. It's not all perfect—some areas lack balance, the side quests remain quite conventional, and the plot sometimes struggles to maintain momentum—but the essential element lies elsewhere. With this third installment, the Stories formula matures and offers a dense, demanding, and surprisingly engaging adventure, provided you're willing to play by its rules.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is an excellent game that manages to improve on almost everything its predecessor had to offer. It's more beautiful, with improved gameplay, whether in terms of interesting and visually impressive combat or the rich monster breeding system. It's surprisingly difficult at times, but in a good way, giving you a good reason to improve your team. We would have liked to see even more challenges at high levels, although there's already plenty to keep you busy. MSH3 also has its share of minor flaws, with an often clumsy storyline, a missing gene bank, and the removal of the multiplayer mode, which had potential.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection delivers a significant evolution, boasting a bigger world, extensive customization, and deeper turn-based combat. Its addictive egg-hatching and rewarding exploration create a compelling JRPG experience, although the combat system occasionally lacks intuition and grind becomes necessary, leading to some repetitive encounters despite its overall depth.

Small gripes aside, Monster Hunter Stories 3 is a fantastic, one-of-a-kind experience that I won’t soon forget. Its monster-collecting and battle systems are uniquely engaging on a level far beyond typical JRPG grinding, which injects almost every other element of the game with depth that would otherwise be lacking. It doesn’t have the mass appeal of something like Clair Obscur—I don’t imagine it will stray too far beyond its target demographic—but Monster Hunter Stories 3 proves that Capcom is on the right track with this franchise, positioning it to grow into a JRPG institution on the level of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.

This turn-based RPG combines the franchise’s trademark mechanical depth with creature-raising systems and ecosystem restoration. With an entertaining, if somewhat predictable, story, colorful characters, and visuals on par with the best anime-inspired games in the genre, it is aimed squarely at Monster Hunter fans and rewards them with hours upon hours of content. Its steep learning curve and slow pacing can feel overwhelming, but for those already familiar with the series, it stands as one of the best entries Capcom has delivered.

Despite a story lacking cohesion (due to its more scattered structure), Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection easily holds the player's interest throughout its adventure. Its key strengths—generous exploration that encourages discovering every nook and cranny of the various areas, deep, strategic, and challenging combat that avoids feeling unfair, and visual quality far superior to that usually seen in these spin-offs—deliver an engaging experience from beginning to end. There's absolutely no doubt that, despite the stubbornness of some players perhaps blinded by nostalgia, this is one of the very best monster-taming games of recent years.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is my favorite in the series, and yet I can't help but admit that I was a little disappointed that the vaunted extra story focus being a bit squandered in practice stings. For most fans or newcomers, I don't think this will be a dealbreaker - and it certainly wasn't for me - but it's a shame that what was already such a fantastic Monster-Battling RPG in terms of gameplay stumbles just enough to prevent it from reaching its full potential. They've perfected the gameplay loop, so hopefully next go around Monster Hunter Stories can finally live up to that moniker.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is a visually striking expansion of Capcom’s beloved series, artfully adapting its core combat principles while maintaining the gnarly monster designs. A pool of side quests muddies the pacing somewhat, made worse by inconsistent platforming across the open world. Still, warm writing and lively vocal performances more than make up for what it lacks. If you’re looking for a rich world to sink hours into, look no further.

While it may not win any awards in my book, Monster Hunter Stories 3 is a fun way to pass time, and a great game for newcomers to the JRPG genre. The turn based combat mechanics are solid, and there is a lot to unlock. The story and characters are fun to watch and exploring the environments is never boring. Here’s hoping that Capcom can refine this formula, and truly bring their A game with the next instalment.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 delivers deep build crafting and battle systems, but they're wasted on a war story that's barely there.
