Apr 14, 2023Funny, fast-paced action in a slick Minecraft overworld, with more combat than building.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends demonstrates the ability of Blackbird Interactive to also range over genres other than the classic RTS, given the more action imprint of this title. There is some doubt about its accessibility to the youngest, given the dexterity it requires in giving specific orders and the limited independence of our allies in the field, but otherwise it is a great way to pass the hours for those who want to pass the whim for strategy but look for something more relaxed than the standard RTS.
-
Apr 18, 2023The Minecraft saga continues: Minecraft Legends is a beautiful strategy game, made for beginners of the genre. The campaign and the versus-mode are fun to play. If there wouldn’t be some bigger pathfinding issues with our A.I. compagnons and with more options of commands, the game would be even better.

Apr 14, 2023With Minecraft Legends, Mojang has hit the bull's-eye again. The attempt to overturn a usually complex genre to make it perfectly accessible to gamers of all ages has been successful, without however renouncing a layered gameplay, capable of giving satisfaction even to those who want to invest time in online modes. Of course, we would have liked some more content at launch and a greater variety in terms of both the single player and online components, but we are confident in post-launch support, usually one of the studio's flagships.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends isn't going to rewrite the book on action strategy games. However, it offers compelling gameplay backed by mechanics from the main game that rewards exploration and ingenuity, on top of having an easy control set-up.
-
Apr 18, 2023Minecraft Legends is a good but simple strategy game that is perfect for beginners. The world of Minecraft is well conveyed in all its glory and the balance between building and demolition makes long lasting battles a legendary story to tell.
-
Apr 26, 2023The Minecraft franchise continues to expand its world, offering a unique blend of action and strategy gameplay. While efforts have been made to make the genre more accessible, the repetitive and simplistic level designs can cause players to lose interest pretty quickly.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is an entry point for fans of the franchise who want to discover real-time strategy games.
-
Apr 27, 2023Minecraft Legends is a good multiplayer RTS that we recommend to all those who want to discover the genre. Especially since the graphics are not bad if you like pixel art and the game is fluid. Accessible while offering some difficulty, it still takes a little time before fully appreciating this new spin-off which promises wild games with friends.
-
Apr 21, 2023Minecraft Legends' adventure, in single player, can be completed in a handful of hours, going straight to the goal with the right strategies, but it can also keep you company for much more if you want to explore all of the overworld. The PvP mode, very central on paper, doesn't really shine if you don't use some communication system external to the game – a non-secondary problem, given that strategy is really crucial and good coordination helps not only to keep the games fun, but also to ensure that they do not last longer than necessary.
-
Apr 18, 2023Though there are some learning curve issues with the game, Minecraft Legends is a solid experience overall and does a wonderful job of combining the action-strategy formula into a compelling game in the Minecraft universe. Being able to lead creepers and skeletons into battle to fight alongside the player is a clever concept and the cutscenes throughout the campaign provide an epic feel. Because of the procedurally generated world and the nature of the battles, Minecraft Legends offers a lot of replay value as well.
-
Apr 14, 2023Though it can be a relatively shallow and imperfect game, Minecraft Legends offers a fun and unique experience that feels befitting of a Minecraft spinoff.
-
Apr 14, 2023Your enjoyment of Minecraft Legends will come down to three questions. 1: Are you in love with Minecraft and its extended universe? 2: Are you hankering for an RTS-style game playable on a console? 3: Do you have a minimum of three friends who are eager to play this game too? If you answered yes to at least two of those questions, you’ll have a good time with Minecraft Legends. For everyone else, Minecraft Legends offers a fairly unique experience and not much more. Just don’t expect to get any mileage out of the campaign.
-
Apr 14, 2023Overall, it’s a delightful game that makes you feel like a hero with clear goals. My biggest question is how Myths & Legends will be treated going forward and if all additions to this mode will be free, or if we’ll start to see price tags on them. But if you're a fan of Minecraft and strategy games, this is worth a peek.
-
Apr 14, 2023Purely block-based Minecraft world returns, but with a truly unexpected, sometimes tiny bit shallow, RTS twist. This tactical adventure is bright, saturated, full of fresh ideas and with its PVP/co-op content, crafted especially for you and your fellow builders. It’s time to grab your gaming tools, gather the resources and mount your favourite animal, because this minecart joyride is supposedly only the beginning.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a worthy spin-off from the main game, but doesn't break any new ground in the real-time strategy genre, instead acting as an accessible entry point for the younger generation.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a simple, yet effective introduction to the RTS genre for newcomers like myself. While I don’t necessarily see myself sinking a ton of time into the game going forward –primarily because RTS games still aren’t my thing– I do appreciate Mojang’s effort in expanding the Minecraft universe and experimenting with different genres to see how creative they can get with the IP. Slightly janky controls aside, Minecraft Legends is a solid adventure to experience with friends, and it’ll keep you occupied for hours on end. Just don’t go in expecting a ton of single-player content you can enjoy on your own time.
-
Apr 14, 2023It isn’t complex enough to satiate veteran RTS players and doesn’t offer mountains of content, but Minecraft Legends delivers the basic loop of attacking and defending territory and finds the odd inventive way to use its iconic IP.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends looks like a role-playing game on the surface, but it’s more of a strategy game. It doesn’t fall in the same vein as lengthy RPGs, with parties of sword-wielding heroes that you bond with over emotional baggage. Instead, it commands the hero’s attention in real-time to protect villages and destroy piglin bases, something it gives players an impressive array of tools to accomplish. However, it relies on the assumption that the player will feel compelled to continue to the next piglin base or village in crisis based on the sheer enjoyment of the gameplay. While Minecraft Legends satisfies in terms of progression and exploration, the paper-thin plot and lack of incentives left me wanting more from the experience.
-
Apr 24, 2023Minecraft Legends falls short of the quality and depth of its predecessor and leaves much to be desired for those seeking a more complex and strategic challenge.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends has its own share of frustrations, and the Arabic translation is horrible, it is fun for a few hours, however.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jan 23, 2024The graphics are as nice as you can get with Minecraft. The animals are cute, the scenery plays with all the colours and the whole thing is supported by the unobtrusive music. Overall, then, it's a very simplistic strategy game where building bases and managing an army is fun, but it loses its breath very quickly, to its own detriment. [Issue#327]
-
Apr 24, 2023Minecraft Legends is not a game with a very deep strategy aspect. It appeals to a wider audience in terms of age. It is a game where you can spend time with your friends, either competitively or cooperatively, but you are likely to get bored alone.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is an excellent entry point into the RTS genre for young players or those who have never touched a strategy game in their life. For the others, , the title is a small disappointment with a cruel lack of strategy.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a solid attempt to adapt the world of Minecraft into a new genre. In the process, it clings too tightly to simplicity and leaves behind the creativity that defined it so well. The result is a game that manages to be enjoyable, but often ends up becoming repetitive and shallow, as it seems to have been made with multiplayer modes in mind.
-
Apr 14, 2023The simple fact is, if you’re an RTS veteran, then there isn’t anything here for you. However, if you’re new to the genre, then this might just be the best introduction there is. It gets you into the right mindset and teaches you the conventions of RTS, challenging you just enough so that you have to improvise strategies. It’s far from the pinnacle of the genre, but it will make you hungry for more.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is the genre blend I didn't know I needed, but it's not without its flaws. While the gameplay feels fresh and refined, the strategy feels shallow. It's lots of fun at first but don't count on it sticking around long enough to replace your favorite action or RTS games.
-
Apr 14, 2023Nothing in Minecraft Legends is entirely unique, and its most memorable aspects are its commitment to the series’ art direction and its PvP matches. Between the two, there’s a formulaic campaign that feels like a fun social space in co-op but lacking in variety and direction when played solo. It’s Minecraft, but not as you know it - for better and worse.
-
Apr 14, 2023Charming and adorable with a lot of potential for a unique Minecraft style Real Time Strategy, but falls very short of being a fulfilling experience.
-
Apr 26, 2023Minecraft Legends veers the popular sandbox game into real-time strategy territory, but misses the mark with clumsy controls, dull gameplay, and an empty open world.
-
Apr 14, 2023An action strategy spinoff that disappoints both genres and misses Minecraft's magic.
-
Edge MagazineMay 18, 2023Fights descend into muddled brawls, as blobs of mobs smack into each other until one side keels over. [Issue#385, p.118]
-
May 2, 2023Minecraft Legends lacks anything to appeal to any sort of target audience. It’s a disjointed, dysfunctional mixture of genres and ideas that’s going to leave everyone disappointed – the strategists, the builders, the action aficionados, even the Minecraft fans.

Apr 14, 2023Minecraft's blocky charm is present and correct, but the rest of Minecraft Legends is only as deep as the skins it wants to sell you.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a charming portmanteau of genres that manages to simplify the RTS formula while still demanding a fair amount of concentration and strategy. I’m interested to see where the game goes in the future; players might use its mechanics to create truly terrifying multiplayer strategies that escalate in amazing ways. Or they might just enjoy the campaign and then go back to their own realm, to tame their own wilderness away from the chimes of quest givers. Legends is a charming and colorful adventure, and it’s nice to finally befriend the humble Creeper.
-
Apr 14, 2023All of this could be fixed with future updates, but I think the devs have built themselves into a corner with the fundamentals of Minecraft Legends. Adding more content and complexity won't solve the issue of the awkward control scheme and lack of precision - something that all RTS games need in order to be great.
