Jul 27, 2023Sometimes games hold up, and this is one of them. Though I absolutely loved the original, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes – Definitive Edition brings a classic game to exhilarating modern life. Not only does it feature complex and nuanced strategic gameplay, but has an engaging story and tons of replay value. My only small complaint is I wanted to spend even more time in this world, and would have loved some sort of endless rogue mode. But that said, even if you never heard of the original, all strategy fans still owe it to themselves to check out this amazing adventure.

Jul 20, 2023Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - Definitive Edition is a belter of a puzzle game, with a lengthy campaign full of clever ideas.
-
Jul 21, 2023Clash of Heroes' optics and audio are rather sobering, but its narrative and its extremely refined gameplay still make for a unique turn-based tactics game.

Jul 20, 2023There’s no need to bury the lede; Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes – Definitive Edition never truly feels definitive, but it’s still a refreshing, one-of-a-kind puzzler hybrid with a knockout campaign. While its admirers have already purchased it multiple times by now, this version ensures that it remains in the public eye for discovery by newcomers, and hopefully inspires a proper sequel in the coming years. That’s more than enough to recommend it, especially to anyone who’s missed out on the game thus far, but longtime fans may feel shorted by this lightweight reissue.

Jul 20, 2023If you enjoy a bit of RPG and strategy in a game and enjoy yourself a match-three game, you will be well-served by Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes. I can’t tell you how well it stacks up compared to the DS version, maybe, but now it’s available on more modern devices and it’s still fun. What more could you ask for?

Jul 31, 2023Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - Definitive Edition is still a good game. The Definitive Edition lacks some quality of life improvements that would have been appreciated after 15 years.

Jul 20, 2023Despite all this, though, there's still a lot to like and admire here. I can see why people loved it so intensely at the time, and even now Clash Of Heroes feels like a true original. There's simply not a lot else like it - although given how hard it is, I can perhaps see why. Still, even knowing what I know now, if I was faced with the prospect of popping down £15 on a game I'd heard so much about for the last decade and a half, I'd honestly probably still give it a pop, you know? Loading times and all. I'd be more sceptical if it were double that price, say, but fifteen quid is a lot more palatable, and not so high that it wouldn't satisfy my initial curiosity for it. And if its online scene takes off (as it did with the HD remaster), then just experiencing it through multiplayer might lessen the problems I encountered in the campaign. A tentative recommendation, then, although probably more for strategy die-hards than casual toe-dippers.
