  1. Yes, it doesn't add much that's new but -- oh, let progress be damned.... Love this game. It. Is. Fun.

This game is actually fun, even for those of us that hate racing games.
  3. They have added some new features, updated the engine and generally given us a good new reason to spend a little of our hard-earned money.
  4. One area that would enhance the game would be expansion city packs. The game is incredibly fun and is limited only by the fact that only two cities exist. This suffices for the single-player modes but limits the potential of multiplayer and cruise modes.
  5. It's not without its gripes - it locked up on me several times during our brief relationship, and I'm not a big fan of its commentary, but once it has you in its grip it won't let you go until you've utterly exhausted it, and vice versa, and that should be enough for anyone.

Music is absent from the game, but you probably won't notice that either with the sounds of revving engines, squealing tires, and flying trashcans filling your ears.
  7. Improves on the original in both form and function, adding better graphics, crisp sound, a slew of new cars, and timely gameplay tweaks.

Midtown Madness 2 is as close to arcade racing bliss as we've seen.
  9. One of the best arcade racers to come out in a long time. Strap yourselves in and take a test drive.

It looks and plays much like the original, simply set in two new cities. Fortunately, this is EXACTLY what the original needed. The new cities are fun to explore, the single-player challenges will keep you busy for weeks, and the multiplayer is truly unique and fun.

MM2 has a heart of gold, and there's more than enough charm to keep you coming back for more, even if more means trying to launch off the roof of the Transamerica pyramid in a London Cab.
  12. In the area of goofy fun, this game lives for eternity.
  13. Building on the fantastic gameplay of the original with new cities, cars, and racing modes, Midtown Madness 2 will blow your socks off.

It's not a vast improvement over the original, but it's just as fun. [Dec 2000, p.168]
  15. It doesn't matter whether you're a hard-core simulation fan or you simply crave speed, destruction, and mayhem in your games -- if you want to play a very fun racing game, then Midtown Madness 2 is for you.

If you enjoy madcap racing games like "Crazy Taxi," "Driver," or the original "Midtown Madness" you should feel right at home with Midtown Madness 2.

A fine game and a worthy successor, offering almost twice-and-a-half the original ... and the original was a classic as it was.
  18. Whether you call it an arcade racer or a city driving simulation, I call it good fun.

Midtown Madness is an exellent game because you get to smash up cars. I mostly cruise and sometimes pretend to be like other drivers. It's because of the endless new Cars, Mods, Maps, etc. As long as there's someone willing to build add-ons it will be a great 10 game.
