Jul 1, 2020The first game was kinda boring but this...
the commander (or w/e it's called) system is simply disappointing, often you almost kill a captain, then his "death-defying" ability turns in, then you beat him up again, fork up the stupid QTE and the captain just "runs away" (actually he just disappears right in the air)
Also, it just spits on all the ideas of original lore. -

Dec 17, 2017In first three acts gameplay is ok, not perfect, enough repetative but interesting. Act 4 totally ruins it. + lootboxes in single player game = fail. Story is a Tolkien's nightmare.
Don't buy this game. -
Oct 17, 2017Do not buy! **** micro transactions, as predicted. Apart from that decent game, but a lot of gridning... sigh. Vote with your wallet guys, so skip this one.
-
Oct 10, 2017The game itself is good but the microtransactions lootboxes ruins the whole game, not supporting or buying games like these will most certaintly help, please don't buy this crap.
-
Oct 18, 2017Apart from micro-transactions (which is plain daylight robbery) this game has dull combat and repetitive game play. The combat has a mind of its own. You click a button wanting to do one thing and it will do something else entirely. The repetitiveness, grinding and sub par combat becomes annoying that you either rush through the story for the sake of it or quit.

Dec 30, 2021Nothing but grind. The plot is made for the fans, absolutely nothing is clear. The blunt cutscenes before the fight are the maximum krinzh.

Oct 22, 2017This game started off really well like Shadow of Mordor, but Act 4 is an absolute joke. They decided they were just going to throw on about 10 hours of grinding the exact same thing over and over again and make your army way underpowered if you don't buy their loot crates.
-
Nov 28, 2017A new masive open world game, beautiful graphics and sounds but in short terms all comes down with insane agresive microtansactions (specially in the late game), repetitive gameplay, and a story that does not motive; as result we have a bigger but boring and abusive game.
-
Oct 16, 2017scripted gameplay grinder that lives from being tolkien stuff. story epic and cinematic but not memorable. ultra graphics on an 1080 don't look ultra rather like skyrim. the game feels purposely lengthened to make the lootbox system attractive. enemy level system and army building seems exremely unbalanced and unsatisfying. not worth the money and not worth the time.

Mar 2, 2021Fun for first 2 hours, then repetitive repetitive repetitive. Developer just copy paste everything they can. All captains are the same, all war chiefs are the same, all fortresses are the same, even all executions feel the same. All player need to to is smash buttons.

Oct 8, 2020Piece of trash AAA game, all tropes included :
- **** stealth segments with braindead ennemies whose player detection makes no sense
- abysmal button-mashing combat
- garbage controls
- **** american story full of "minority" pandering
A disgrace to Tolkien's legacy. -
Oct 27, 2017История игры не как не связана с миром Толкина, графика плохая, мир скудный, квесты отсутствую. Всю игру вы должны гриндить монстров...................

Oct 11, 2017Its a pity that in a single player game greed has come into the equation, speaking of course about the micro transactions which ruin the end of the game. People should vote with their wallets and let publishers know we don't want this sort of thing in games we pay good money for.

Feb 15, 2020Fast travel crashes the game, so I can't change region... which the game doesn't explain how to do anyways... I'm at a loss for words... Oh! yeah, and you get 1-shot because of the Nemisis System... so there's that... Seroiusly breaks the pace of the game.
I suppose the game looks nice but... that's about all there is to it. -

Oct 10, 2017Don't buy this rubbish. If you do you're part of the problem and you're supporting bad unethical practices in video gaming. Go and buy Divinity Original Sin 2 instead.
-
Oct 13, 2017Utter garbage cash grab. The full price of this game with all the "at launch" DLC is $80. That's actually fine with me. But then to stack in-game purchases of loot boxes on top of this in a single player game?! And to hide the actually ending behind these in-game purchases? These developers have lost their minds. Time to learn the hard way, fellas.
-
Oct 12, 2017Microtransactions in an $60 single player game is like buying a nice car and then after driving it for 1 year, a message pops up on the dashboard saying you can only drive a maximum of 40 mph unless you purchase more "credits".
Unacceptable filthy greed. -
Oct 12, 2017Glad this game got cracked day one even with the latest Denuvo. The devs and publisher deserve to be kicked in the family jewels until they pass out for this disaster of a lootcrate system.
-
Oct 26, 2017Does it have lootboxes that destroy the game? Why, yes it does. So I automatically download a free game for me. Sorry not Sorry you greedy punk publishers

Oct 10, 2017Microtransactions, especially in a SP game, are a plague on the gaming industry. Don't support a game like this, just watch a stream if u wanna see the game.
-
Oct 21, 2017You pay for a game with the true ending behind a paywall. Microtransactions are the new cancer that is destroying videogames. They ruined a game with a lot of potential because of greed. Do not buy it until they change their policy.
-
Oct 12, 2017Micro transaction and Denuvo DRM, that's a big no no. From these two we know how greedy the corp is and how far they will go to milk all the money from players. This is a disgusting business model and should not be encouraged.
-
Oct 15, 2017I just want to make it clear for Warner and all gaming companies.:
THIS IS NOT A F2P MOBILE GAME TO BE PLAGUED disgustingly BY MT.
STICK IT THROUGH YOUR HEADS, AND PUT TO WORK THAT FEW LITTLE CELL BRAINS OF YOURS.
For the gaming community: Don´t bought this game. Dishonest business practices = pay to win formula. -

Oct 12, 2017Loot boxes in 60 Single Player game. NO FREAKING WAY! Avoid at any price and tell publishers and devs we are not putting up with this BS greed any longer.
-
Oct 21, 2017AVOID THIS GAME LIKE THE PLAGUE!
DLC...Microtransactions bullcrap all over the place...And if you support this you are making the gamimg industry worse and worse! -
Oct 12, 2017Trash game by **** developers. dont buy this game, the devs dont deserve the money with their braindead microtransactions .
i can easily turn on trainers and cheats myself with all currency since its a god damn single player game. tested on multiplayer and it works.
so only retards would be spending real money on that **** you are better off not buying the game, they dont deserve anything -
Oct 27, 2017Last review appears to have been deleted. Was really looking forward to this game until the developer and publisher decided to be greedy. I'm tired of companies charging us $60 for only part of a game then bilking us through loot boxes and DLCs.
At this point the only way I'll play this game is when it becomes a bargain basement-priced GOTY version. -
Oct 11, 2017Microtransactions - The Game. Here you go, have some more loot chests. I made it a bit into the game before my mind was boiling, and I had enough of the "Daily Event" and buy lootboxes crap that just made it feel like a Free 2 Play mobile game. STAY AWAY and save the industry!
-
Oct 22, 2017Same basic mechanics as first game, bigger map. Layer that on top of massive grindfests to encourage you to spend money on lootboxes, crashes, and a weak story and you get a game that completely fails to live up to its potential. Abysmal Effort at best.
-
Oct 11, 2017Game designed only to pull more money your pockets and accounts. Game CANT BE FINISHED without buying **** loot boxes. This game could be very very good, but is just a cancer on the game industry.
-
Oct 31, 2017This game could have been so much better, but it was ruined as every game by greed, and corporatist f*cks, game has it pros and cons but the cons are gamebreaking.
-
Nov 2, 2017Yay, lootboxes!
You are paying for those extra profits with user ratings. I think you will find that in the long run, it's not worth it. Just ask Ubisoft. -
Oct 11, 2017Game ruined by microtransactions. This game is getting good scores from the legacy gaming media because they never have and never will look out for the consumer. If a publisher wants to ruin their game by putting gambling via microtransactions in at the cost of quality then they must accept the poor review scores from the consumer.

Oct 16, 2017Even without the loot box shenanigans, the base game is just bad. I dont know how some compromised medias give this game a high praise. The so called "open world" is just a giant map of copy paste. And the story is just gonna keep Tolkien rolling in his grave. DO NOT BUY
-
Oct 20, 2017Don't touch this game! If this is what AAA games are becoming then this will be the last game I ever buy. Paying full price for a game only to find that there are micro-transactions and a tedious grind in it! Absolutely despicable!!!!

Oct 10, 2017DO NOT BUY. Nothing but a long boring grind unless you pay real money for loot boxes to get ahead. pass. Loot boxes have no place in a $60 game. Loots boxes are nothing but greedy and predatory. They are gambling, and they take advantage of people that they know will get addicted to this.
-
Nov 18, 2017As long as this **** las vegas gambling **** era of gaming is alive i will keep my money to buy other things that i like, such as guitars ,Amps...
and as long as retards who claim to be youtubers doing reviews of this sham are buying this **** there always will be products like this one ( Battlefront 2, Assassins creed Origins and many more). -
Oct 10, 2017Do I even have to explain? Shame on you if you support this **** business model.

Oct 10, 2017I will not support a company who puts microtransactions into any type of game, let alone tries to make gamers shell out additional money in order to experience the full SINGLE PLAYER campaign. When we pay the original asking price- that's it. Monolith Productions, I hope you go bankrupt.

Oct 19, 2017I'm sorry but the place of microtransactions is to add in extra optional advantages or aesthetic customization. In this game it appears they used forced grinding at obscene levels to encourage people to buy items just so they can beat the game in a fun way. Not a good business practice. Do not support.
-
Oct 22, 2017A $60 game that is based around paywalls and microtransactions. The game would be decent if not for the disgustingly greedy decicions Warner Bros made with it. They seriously added gambling elements into a buy-to-play singleplayer game. Don't buy this, they don't deserve your money.
-

-
Oct 10, 2017Full price 60 dollar games with microtransactions which lock the ending behind a paywall are NOT okay! Don't buy this! These kind of practices have to stop!
-
Oct 11, 2017This game is the epitome of what the gaming industry is trying to do. $60 game with microtransactions in singleplayer. Shame. You deserve a zero for riding this trend shamelessly.
-
Oct 12, 2017The game by itself is OK. But i agree with community, that it's time to stop this micro-transaction **** policy. And i'm really happy to see, that people show their position to sales analysts with ties, who thoughts that they can make like 6.34% more easy money and that this is like the best idea ever. Nope.
I started playing in full discount version btw. Do not buy it. -

Oct 26, 2017I'm just here to say that microtransactions in full-priced games are a cancer on the gaming industry, that's spreading as fast as we're allowing it to. Lootboxes manage to be even worse. I can't stand them on multiplayer games but single player? F**k off.
-
Oct 10, 2017
-
Jan 8, 2018ruined by the microtransactions on the online, also the main story is not included (look expansions)
-
Oct 10, 2017Good game with super unfair loot crate system. If I pay FULL prize for game i expect being able to play (and complete the game) without spending more money unless I want some vanity items etc. This is not the case. Avoid.

LEVEL (Czech Republic)Feb 16, 2018A huge game that, despite of the quality of the fight and the delight of the Orb, offers paradoxically very small. It's not a failure, but we were expecting more. [Issue#279]
-
Game World Navigator MagazineDec 30, 2017Nemesis is a one-hit wonder of a mechanic. Everything else in Middle-earth is mediocre at best, but Nemesis makes it all worthwhile, since every playthrough is truly unique – a feature none of its triple-A competitors can offer. [Issue#225, p.38]

Dec 23, 2017A lot of people were upset to find out that Shadow of War has loot boxes, and they are kind of annoying. Unfortunately, loot boxes is the least of its problems.
