    I am late to the Metro games, so going back to an older title can sometimes have weird consequences.
    I suspect the game was designed for a console with how the gunplay and certain menus work.

    Gameplay is still solid, and I love the supernatural vibes the game gives off. If nothing else this game certainly made me pick up the novel which is a fun read!

    Metro 2033 is a great videogame, one that tells a curiously original story thanks to the subway and that has a very successful atmosphere.

    2033 has an excellent story, apart from being very interesting. As a complaint, the fact that Artyom only speaks in loading times.     A good, terrifying game. The Redux version of 2033 fixed most of the little, annoying bugs of the initial game while keeping what made Metro so famous.

    Wow, what an amazing game! The story was thrilling, the scenes were going from action packed to unnervingly quiet and suspicious. It was a perfect mix of horror and thriller and action film. The gunplay was very good IMO and the story was interesting, very good for an FPS game of this type.

    The survivor horror gameplay on this game is very good, the mask mechanics and the dark obscure atmosphere are very unique. However the weak story and cringe voice acting keeps me from giving this game a 10.

    Great game with great graphics. For such a small company like 4A games, the game is good. I am Russian and all these dilogues, locations, NPS behavior is close to me. I put 9 because I did not like the linearity of the game.

    приятная графика, хорошая атмосфера, но есть небольшие проблемы с управлением, не всё интуитивно понятно. Сюжет классный до концовки где начинается какая-то мистика и Артему ломают психику Чёрные, про которых толком никакой информации не дали, не понятно как они это делают и что они вообще такое.    Не играл в оригинал, поэтому оценить игру как ремастер не могу, но Редукс получился хорошим.

    Pra um jogo de 2010, ele é ótimo. A versão redux tava rodando muito bem, mantendo 120fps com os gráficos no máximo na RTX 2060 e ryzen 1600. A historia foi quase nula pra mim, visto que um personagem calado é entediante, não houve nenhum personagem que chamasse a atenção e a lore do jogo só é mesmo desenvolvida pelos documentos que você tende achar ao redor do game - e estão em inglês.Pra um jogo de 2010, ele é ótimo.     A fresh air in the FPS genre with its own personality. The underground tunnels, monsters. It reminds me a lot of bioshock in the sense that if you don't pay attention to the dialogue or collectibles you can't understand the story. An undesired lack of tutorial makes you google every tiny bit about the game. Lack of variety on the enemy type.     One of the most atmospheric, immersive and thrilling shooters of gaming history. While Last Light is rather action-oriented than filled with horror elements, 2033 definitely is. It's more slow-passed and sometimes feels very claustrophobic, especially in dark, narrow corridors that are filled with mushrooms, skeletons, waste, radioactive material and rats, normal-sized, mutated or bestial.One of the most atmospheric, immersive and thrilling shooters of gaming history. While Last Light is rather action-oriented than filled with horror elements, 2033 definitely is. It's more slow-passed and sometimes feels very claustrophobic, especially in dark, narrow corridors that are filled with mushrooms, skeletons, waste, radioactive material and rats, normal-sized, mutated or bestial. The (at that time) small Ukrainian stud 4A managed to sell a very grim and disgusting Russian version of the apocalypse. It's like Fallout, but less humorous/sarcastic, with better gunplay, however less freedom (being a linear-shooter), yet more immersion and very realistic feel to weapons, with very tough, unforgiving gameplay (especially on higher difficulty).
    Definitely a must for anyone who enjoys story-driven, linear shooter that focus on atmosphere and combat than exploration and dialogues.    … Expand

    Definetly a masterpiece in its own genre solid voice acting,strong atmosphere basically this game has everything fps action,stealth,interesting story,cool characters,demons,aliens,russian elements,communists,nazis,bandits

    Last chapter was also really good but ending is just meh

    Metro 2033 has the best atmosphere and a good story.Though it is clumsy when u control your chara.The last phase and metro world attract me because of the first-person perspective and the depressive scene.

    Definitely a great game! Great setting and atmosphere and good story. There is some minor problems though. There's some issues with the dialogue volumes; when you walk in a crowded space everyone just starts talking at the same time with the same volume and it becomes really annoying in the first hours of the game. Очень понравилось то, что есть в игре карма и от неё зависит то, какую концовку ты получишь. Очень приятно играть, все смотреть и слушать потому что в этой игре есть душа, в неё её вложили. Разработчики знали "Почему" они делают эту игру, что вылилось в "Что" они из этого получили. Спасибо им за это огромное. Проходя игру сейчас не могу не радоваться уничтоженной рассеи, потому они этого заслуживают как никогда. Быть стертыми с лица земли за все то зло что они делают в отношении моей страны. Но единственное что не понравилось, так это то, что в игре есть каноничная концовка, но зачем тогда вторая не понятно, когда понимаешь это в след части теряешь чувство удовольствия в принятых решениях.… Expand

    The first game of the metro series is a great remastered that definitely deserves the money I gave the game its atmosphere strengthened thanks to its revamped graphics good combat mechanics and a very good story adapted from the book.i want 4.game.

Story is great. Graphics is more than nice (in opposition to the optimalization), but music...     Not the best first person shooter, horror or story driven game you will ever play but it is a very good first person shooter, horror and story driven game that will keep you engrossed and on the edge of your seat throughout apart from when it has you jumping out of it. Every moment in the metro feels like a genuine fight for survival. Its a game that is well worth your time.

    A game filled with Action, claustrophobic Tunnels, Nazis, Russians and lots of Monsters of all sorts. When it comes to atmosphere this game really has it all. The tunnels are very well constructed and you feel like going through a huge labyrinth most of the time. In these canal-system you will find some Human-Camps in which you really feel the agony of the surviving people in thisA game filled with Action, claustrophobic Tunnels, Nazis, Russians and lots of Monsters of all sorts. When it comes to atmosphere this game really has it all. The tunnels are very well constructed and you feel like going through a huge labyrinth most of the time. In these canal-system you will find some Human-Camps in which you really feel the agony of the surviving people in this demonic-like/apocalyptic World. The Human-Species is suffering and this game knows how to present it well, with a heroic story of a young man who tries to make the world a better place again. On your journey you will meet a few companions, loose some, make new friends, do all kinds of stuff like engeneering, dissabling traps, tiptoeing your way around enemies and lots of shooting.

    The story is well written and playing this game feels like a mix of Fallout 3 (scenery), Call of Duty (action-combat) and Resident-Evil (horror). Short 9 hours filled with agony, heartwarming moments and apolcalyptic monsters.

    You have a few weapons/grenades to choose from and also customization-hubs to advance your inventory or customize already owned weapons. I played 80% of the campaign in Hardcore-Mode but to be honest I´d rather not. Some levels especially at the end are pretty hard and it just destroys your immersion to do the same level again and again until you finally manage to pull it off. Combat feels okay, but there isn´t much recoil, which makes gun-handling fairly easy. For me stealth-gameplay was the most enjoyable way to play.

    All-in-all a great experience and I am really looking forward to play the next titles in the series! Worth every penny!

    I didnt like this as much as the original Metro, maybe because it destroyed its atmosphere a little bit and felt more like playing Last Light in a different location than completelly different game but its still the same as the original in a sense so its still **** amazing.

I did not see a single bug, some pluses: a diary in which Ch. the hero is going through the chapters passed (though I have not found everything), weapon tuning, a couple of new monsters, more traced character models and a bunch of other little things. In general, I personally advise you to go through redux. In this version, stealth is much more enjoyable than in the 2010 version, where you are sometimes seen through the walls. By the way, in this version I had the opportunity to go through an alternative ending, unlike the original, although the style of the game was identical.    … Expand

    Good parts:
    - Atmosphere - dark and claustrophobic, hella engaging and a bit scary
    - Story - a compelling journey with a bit too much of convenient saviors and accidents for our guy
    - Characters - alive and worthy of your sympathy, although there are literally no female characters in the game, which seems odd since they are definitely alive in the metro, yet not one of them plays a somewhat significant role? Huh?
    - The gameplay is linear, but good

    Bad parts:
    - Some of the enemies are annoying to fight
    - Sometimes something bugs out
    - The "Bad Guys were not actually bad they were just trying to communicate" twist is completely unearned since they were straight-up killing people ??? so how am I supposed to feel sympathetic for them all of a sudden?

    Overall go for the game if you are not scared of a somewhat dated graphics and you will get a great story and a world to love. Cheers.    … Expand

    El progreso en cuanto a las armas esta bien elaboradas sin llegar a estar al final del juego tremendamente chetadas como pasa en otros juegos.     Metro: 2033 Redux es la mejora del Metro Original, y vaya que si se nota. Si eres detallista verás como se han añadido nuevos efectos, más y mejores telarañas, mejores texturas, y aditamentos varios. No le otorgo mayor nota porque no tiene tanto mérito como cuando se publicó Metro 2033 en 2010.

    I love this game! Locations with many people why try to survive in this hell. We can feel their pain and their misery. This game is better in russian because the characters use russians slangs and expressions. Unfortunately people can't translate this to another language. But it's very atmospheric post-apocalyptic game I recommend it to everyone!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Having just beaten the game my feelings on it are still somewhat mixed. I did enjoy my time battling through the metro and finding the collectibles littered throughout the game. However, at the same time, I couldn't help but feel like the game didn't try to allow you to feel the challenges of living in the metro for 20 years. You are only allowed a small glimpse into the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Moscow metro and that for me was a big letdown.

    Most of the game is about delivering the dog tags of a fallen Spartan and hurting down D6. Along the way, you'll face everything from Communists and Nazis to mutated rat-looking creatures big enough to eat a full grown man.

    The levels themselves are fairly basic. So long as you see something to kill odds are good that's the way to go to move to the next area. By the time I nuked the Dark Ones I didn't feel like I had saved the Metro from the Dark Ones namely because they didn't really matter until near the very end of the game.     As a "Single player" games lover this is a Masterpiece. No words to describe this gorgeous game. Play it slow. Take your time. Try to read all Notes you will find in the game. Dont get confuse with what you believe you see. Enjoy this game. Dont give up if you get stuck. The story worths it

Разные страшные мутанты созданные радиацией и не только. Графика просто шикарна, в игре 2 концовки хорошую можно получить если помогать людям и убивать только в крайней необходимости.     Gunplay/Stealth

    -Plays well on PC. No issues but nothing out of the ordinary. Standard.

    -AI is standard and the Nosalis are bland for me.

    -Stealth is the best way to play this game but it is a bit clunky.

    Exploration

    -Linear style but you can approach stealthily or guns blazing. Again very standard.

    -I read lots about the game's atmospheric quality. But honestly it didn't resonate with me that much. If the post-apocalyptic vibe is your thing then for sure you will appreciate the game's atmosphere. Graphically and in terms of the visual tone I found it very bland looking. The game's colour palette is very dark and grim and honestly kind of ugly. Obviously, I understand the look they were going for as it is set in a post-apocalyptic world but even then the environments lack flavour.

    Narrative

    -I don't think the story is bad per se, nor do I think it is told poorly. It is just very average in terms of story telling. I understand that it has been inspired by the books and borrows some elements from it however it doesn't tell the story in a special way or anything. I think the cast is hit or miss.

    -Artyom's character has no development and no depth. He is a mute really and you can learn more about him by picking up notes in the game world. There is little to no emotional connection built with him. No reason to care for and about him.

    -The supernatural elements just didn't fit this game. I felt it was very out of place. I found it really sill to be honest. Even the character model/designs were really silly and they remind me of those gooey alien baby toys.

    Conclusion

    Overall, I think this game is highly rated by those who are fans of the post-apocalyptic genre. Even though I do not think this is a bad game by any means I do not think it is worthy of the lofty praises. It is a slow paced FPS shooter set in a particular environment.    … Expand

    Don’t buy it on epic or play it on GeForce now as you can’t adjust gamma so the game is stuck at a dark brightness setting for the whole game(still no way to fix it).

    We were charmed by the atmosphere,dark and gritty, miserable-feeling people everywhere, despair all over,by the amazing immerson that truly made me forget i was behind a keyboard and,most importantly, it s story and characters that might not seem special,but i got attached to everyone that i crossed paths with (Khan, Bourbon,etc.).
    The gameplay,is not perfect,but realyyyyyyy good: trying to scavenge as much ammo as you can,trade high-grade bullets for other thing you might need,wandering in the dark hearing noises,not knowing when you ll get ambushed.
    I keep hearing about all these tehnical issues and bugs that this game suffers from,but,get this,in my WHOOOOOLE JOURNEY, i only encountered a small AI error from a mutant (can t remember its name) and that also IMMEDIATELY solved by itself.
    Also,one big part of Metro 2033 is its paranormal events.This game really likes to play with your mind because of all the flashback sequences and constant feeling of dread.
    What i hate the most about this game...is not the game, but instead the big companies that can t see how this game truly shines, scoring for them at a maximum of 8.5,which is truly dissapointing.
    I m not any expert of sorts but this game alone,with all it s characteristics i just described above,made me pick for a project to read the original novel by Dmitry Gluhovsky,and i absolutely love that too.
    Metro 2033 is an absolute MASTERPIECE in my opinion,deserving more attenrion and love because everything it has to offer.    … Expand

    Although we can't say that Metro: 2033 Redux is a real remake, it is a great game with better character models, graphics, and cutscenes. The based game is the first game of arguably the best first-person shooter series Metro with a decent story becomes even better with the unique atmosphere. Even if you normally don't really appreciate FPS games you should definitely try it.

    I played this game before on my old system with medium graphic settings. I really liked the story and you really had to retry some situations and try to play them smarter and not waste any ammo. The atmosphere was great in underground cities. The people building their homes out of stuff they could find really made the game feel a lot more personal. However with my new system (Ryzen 9 5900xI played this game before on my old system with medium graphic settings. I will try to fix it in the near future, but the fact that a lot of people having trouble even getting the game to run, made me give a rating of "mixed". Really would love to play this game again.     Metro 2033 is a masterpiece. Cool plot and gameplay. One of the main aspects of this game is diving.
    And in general we get a cool shooter whose world is filled with mutants, radiation and the remnants of civilization.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had originally bought the trilogy on Steam a couple years ago. I played Metro 2033 for an hour, and then put it down. I remember going into it thinking it was Call of Duty, only to be arriving in front of a bunch of monsters and having no bullets. I quit the game and didn't touch it until about a month ago.

    I went into this game now knowing that it was a survival horror game and it blew my socks off. I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy the game this much. The story kept me engaged and never lost me, all of the characters are great (and in the same way as Game of Thrones - any character you know can just die whenever the story wants them to).

    This game looks incredible. I'm not a graphics guy, but I was incredibly impressed at how this game looks. I never played the original Metro 2033, but from what I've seen, the Redux made a lot of needed changes graphics-wise.

    Gameplay wise, it gives a good mix of everything you can get from an FPS, while still giving the player a choice in how they want to take it. I had a blast going from sneaking around enemy bases, fighting off against hordes of monsters, and mentally battling monsters (the library was a standout moment for me both horror and gameplay wise). There were even a few moments in the game where I had to actually worry about my bullet count and if I was going to have to just run away (having the option to shoot your own currency is also a great addition).

    Although the game has its rough patches (I wasn't a huge fan of Chapter 7 until the actual ending of the game), this game is great and I'm excited to see what the following two games have in store.
