    For those of you having issues installing I am very sorry. This game is kickass and beautiful. Hopefully those of you who are unable to get in have a patch coming your way soon. Everything looks so much better then i could have imagined after only having seen screenshots before I bought the game. I have a pretty sweet asus sound card for my Sennheiser HD 598 head phones. The sounds in this game are so creepy at times that I had to take my headphones off and switch over to my speakers. This was due to i was jumping and turning around way to often like a **** The audio bump from Metro 2033 to Redux is amazing although it does take a decent open ear headset with a soundcard to truly enjoy. My daughter walking on squeaky floorboards above me was often mistaken for in game sound that's how unbelievably clear it is. Most scenes are startling however this game does throw you into a ton of run for your life moments especially in the harder difficulties on Survival mode. Survival mode really does make you think hard about your weapon setups which to me adds a whole new level of tension. Out of ammo = run and hope u can get to the next objective which happened to me frequently LOL. I will totally RLTW again with Ranger difficulty on Spartan mode. 11/10 for doing such a good job resurrecting one kick ♥♥♥ game.

    Avoid bushes in combat they are too OP. ;)

    To all of you out there posting negative reviews due to crashing or bugs without posting system specs and OS you are not helping any one.

    It was a good choice not to trust some professional critics too much. This game is great, especially the atmosphere is perfect.
    Also the story and the world are impressive, thats no wonder, because it is based and books, so there is a lot to tell.

    A must have in your game collection for those familiar to the franchise and new comers. Excellent visuals, exciting gameplay and a down right MUST HAVE! Such a great price, even for a remake. The user score speaks for itself (in this case).

    If you haven't played the Metro games, now is the time. They are some of the best FPS games on the market. The Redux has made the game look better, but at the cost of it, that, the lighting is more based around light than dark, as the originals where.
    The gameplay has been improved as-well.     The new voices are a lot worse, and the faces all look quite babyish,but as I said, the game is still amazing. Pick it up.

    As a gamer, I really can't see a missing thing in this remake.I played the original game when it was first released.It wanted to make me play it even though it was poorly optimized and really bad in terms of stealth action.And although I played it on medium difficulty back then, the atmosphere which made me felt really alone, difficult shoot-outs , scary moments were so good.

    Metro 2033 was a flawed, but good game. The Redux does a wonderful job of taking away those flaws while also updating the graphics, leaving us with a game that is great and feels modern despite its 4 1/2 year old underpinnings.. It is a shame that being a "remake" of a cult (i.e. not super popular) game it didn't get the press/critic coverage that it deserved.

    An excellent game, and does its' original version justice! The atmosphere is absolutely amazing. Honestly one of my favorite games of all time if not the greatest single player storyline driven game for me. Personally, I think it has a decent amount of re-playability value. I've played through it quite a few times and still haven't grown old of the game

    P.S. If anyone's experiencing problems with starting either Metro Redux game (such as SethroFives' issue, where it crashes at the very beginning of the game), then follow the next few steps:

    This is the fix I used to solve the issue:

    - Go into your Metro directory folder in steam and find the video folder (wherever it was downloaded, something along the lines of /SteamApps/common/Metro 2033 Redux/2033/ or /SteamApps/common/Metro Last Light Redux/)

    - Delete the file named "intro.ogv" (without the quotations)

    - Open notepad and save it as "intro.ogv" (without quotations)

    - Save the intro.ogv file you just made into those same folders the old intro.ogv files used to be in

    - Run the game. It should run without any more issue regarding crashes at the beginning of the game    … Expand

The optimization is heavily improved, with the original Metro 2033 running at 30 fps on the highest graphical settings on my PC, Metro 2033 Redux not only looks 10x better but runs at 60 fps at the SAME graphics level.     With great graphics, artistic visuals and excellent attention to detail, dark and mature storyline, intense atmosphere amplified by realistic gameplay elements, this is the only game which makes you feel like you really are in a post apocalyptic world fighting for survival.

Played on its most difficult (and rewarding) level, Ranger Hardcore, the game is: at all times tense with your need to plan an enemy encounter as to not run through your precious supply of ammo (which also acts as the game world's currency); and atmospheric with theRedux being my first foray into Metro 2033 (although having played Last Light on the PS3), the game is exceptional. Played on its most difficult (and rewarding) level, Ranger Hardcore, the game is: at all times tense with your need to plan an enemy encounter as to not run through your precious supply of ammo (which also acts as the game world's currency); and atmospheric with the exceptional sound design, beautiful graphics, and non-existent HUD (forcing you to keep track of ammo and remember which button does what). And although there is must more to this game than the tense encounters and atmosphere, those two are perhaps the games strongest attributes - and really make it shine.… Expand

    The first game of the metro series is a great remastered that definitely deserves the money I gave the game its atmosphere strengthened thanks to its revamped graphics good combat mechanics and a very good story adapted from the book.i want 4.game.

In general, I personally advise you to go through redux. In this version, stealth is much more enjoyable than in the 2010 version, where you are sometimes seen through the walls. By the way, in this version I had the opportunity to go through an alternative ending, unlike the original, although the style of the game was identical.    … Expand

    I love this game! Locations with many people why try to survive in this hell. We can feel their pain and their misery. This game is better in russian because the characters use russians slangs and expressions. Unfortunately people can't translate this to another language. But it's very atmospheric post-apocalyptic game I recommend it to everyone!

    As a "Single player" games lover this is a Masterpiece. No words to describe this gorgeous game. Play it slow. Take your time. Try to read all Notes you will find in the game. Dont get confuse with what you believe you see. Enjoy this game. Dont give up if you get stuck. The story worths it

Разные страшные мутанты созданные радиацией и не только. Графика просто шикарна, в игре 2 концовки хорошую можно получить если помогать людям и убивать только в крайней необходимости.     "Most importantly, don't eat yellow snow." The graphics are not ideal, but beautiful. The story of Artyom is interesting, I want to know what happens to his father during the games Last Light and Exodus.

I got it and immediately tried it with my friends on discord,and what we found was one of our favourite franchises of all time (at least me and one of the friends, the others just liked Metro 2033 and left).
    We were charmed by the atmosphere,dark and gritty, miserable-feeling people everywhere, despair all over,by the amazing immerson that truly made me forget i was behind a keyboard and,most importantly, it s story and characters that might not seem special,but i got attached to everyone that i crossed paths with (Khan, Bourbon,etc.).
    The gameplay,is not perfect,but realyyyyyyy good: trying to scavenge as much ammo as you can,trade high-grade bullets for other thing you might need,wandering in the dark hearing noises,not knowing when you ll get ambushed.
    I keep hearing about all these tehnical issues and bugs that this game suffers from,but,get this,in my WHOOOOOLE JOURNEY, i only encountered a small AI error from a mutant (can t remember its name) and that also IMMEDIATELY solved by itself.
    Also,one big part of Metro 2033 is its paranormal events.This game really likes to play with your mind because of all the flashback sequences and constant feeling of dread.
    What i hate the most about this game...is not the game, but instead the big companies that can t see how this game truly shines, scoring for them at a maximum of 8.5,which is truly dissapointing.
    I m not any expert of sorts but this game alone,with all it s characteristics i just described above,made me pick for a project to read the original novel by Dmitry Gluhovsky,and i absolutely love that too.
    Metro 2033 is an absolute MASTERPIECE in my opinion,deserving more attenrion and love because everything it has to offer.    … Expand

    Although we can't say that Metro: 2033 Redux is a real remake, it is a great game with better character models, graphics, and cutscenes. The based game is the first game of arguably the best first-person shooter series Metro with a decent story becomes even better with the unique atmosphere. Even if you normally don't really appreciate FPS games you should definitely try it.

    Metro 2033 is a masterpiece. Cool plot and gameplay. One of the main aspects of this game is diving.
    And in general we get a cool shooter whose world is filled with mutants, radiation and the remnants of civilization.

    Прошёл игру за часов 10-15 на концовку, в которой были уничтожены чёрные. Крутой шутер с офигенным сюжетом, отличной атмосферой, долей хардкора и красивой графикой.

    this is a very top game, an interesting plot, good gameplay, the possibility of elections and much more.the graphics in the game are not bad enough for 2014, if you listen to different conversations and try to kill the least, and then you can achieve a good ending, or if you do the opposite, there will be a bad ending. have a good gameplay!

    This has been one of the best gaming experiences I've had, a game that recalls me of Half-Life 2, the scavenging to survive and horror make it so that you always need to be aware of your surroundings. The story is heart-warming and the environment and level design is stunning.

    An immersive game with an immersive storytelling. Love it. I recommend everyone who wanna play a story shooter with an immersive storytelling to give this game a real chance.
    This game and it's sequels are often on sale and really a steal for 9€ at the moment. And this is REALLY worth it.

At first, I felt like the devs were trying to milk their customers by reselling the game with a few tweaks, but after trying out a pirated copy for an hour, I see that they deserve my money. It's a proper remaster. The original already had a great story, amazing graphics, and unique gameplay. Redux is an improvement worthy of $25, especially if you've never played the original. On the PC version you can increase the FOV via config file, while on console you can't touch it. My largest complaint about Redux is the lens flares. I'm tired of this trend where the character's eyes are treated like a camera. Afaik there isn't a way to disable them. I appreciate the beefed-up graphics, but I hate unnecessary effects, like the moon in the prologue. I've found another unnecessary change... The part where a guy on the rails was about to get hit by a cart but dodged it because someone whistled at him, then everyone laughed. Sucks that it got taken out in Redux. It confuses me why it was taken out, buuuuut okay then. The rest of the game seems promising. I'll buy it asap. Money is stupidly tight for me right now.… Expand

    The original 2033 was already a great game but the redux version gives it a newer graphical and interface overhaul. This is the way reduxs are supposed to be made. With the additional content, veteran players should have no problems with experiencing a great game all over again. It has lots of re-playability.

    > monster spawns are sometimes "triggered", meaning that as soon as you do something a couple of monsters spawns behind you.

    This... these are the only objective flaws I was able to find on this title, everything else is pure gold.
    Gorgeous graphics and concept art, good and fitting music, a plot that is just as simple as it is amazing, extremely good work depicting characters personalities with just a few "hints"

    I would also like to point out that the game has a VERY good graphical engine and not only I was able to get ~20% more avg fps than, for example, Bioshock Infinite (both at maximum settings) but Metro 2033 Redux NEVER stuttered, like never EVER.

    Finally there's one thing I'd like to write about just because, as funny as it sounds, prevented me to play this title for almost an year; (on linux) if I kept my USB Arcade Stick plugged, Metro fps were locked to 11~13 meaning it was totally unplayable, once I unplugged the stick, I got 70 fps on the benchmark...    … Expand

    A couple words for graphics: With new 4A Engine, Metro 2033 Redux shines. If you have PC to handle higher settings. you will find yourself playing one of the most beautiful looking post apocalyptic game ever created.
    So Without doubt Metro 2033 Redux is one of the best game of 2014.

    One of the best game out there, better than those big budget AAA fps. With beautiful graphic and strong storyline, this game definitely is one of this year's best game released. The is also quite difficult and scary, also the action is slower and more intense than the other FPS.

    I am not a big shooter player, but in my eyes this was almost a perfect FPS game.
    And I am not even a big fan of the post apocalyptic scenario...

    Шедевр. В игре просто наикрутейшая атмосфера. Геймплей в целом неплох, можно проходить по стелсу, а можно убивать всех направо и налево. Редукс хороший, графон лучше оригинала.

    Incredible game. Not perfect because the AI is very bad. But the journey is incredible. You are playing into a story, not into a game. And you live all the feelings of the characters that appear in your way. I really think that "The last of us" was very inspired in this game.

    Wow, what an amazing game! The story was thrilling, the scenes were going from action packed to unnervingly quiet and suspicious. It was a perfect mix of horror and thriller and action film. The gunplay was very good IMO and the story was interesting, very good for an FPS game of this type.

    Great game with great graphics. For such a small company like 4A games, the game is good. I am Russian and all these dilogues, locations, NPS behavior is close to me. I put 9 because I did not like the linearity of the game.

Making what was a prodigious game even better; first by making the game less Unstable, and making it more streamlined in its new game engine (where the original Metro 2033 stillThis is a true Re-master that really deserves the title Re-master (Very Infrequent Indeed). Metro Redux keeps itself where what made the original Metro 2033 great and puts it all into the Metro Last Light engine. Making what was a prodigious game even better; first by making the game less Unstable, and making it more streamlined in its new game engine (where the original Metro 2033 still struggles to run smoothly on modern systems due to its un-streamlined game engine of the time). It also fixes the middle of the game ‘game breaking’ bug, in which you would be shot off the map when the player fell off the rail cart, requiring multiple reloads to fix (which was never patched in the original).

    Along with all these improvements it also adds the great things from Last Light, such as the weapon customization and modernized weapon aiming, gunplay and control layout! This also includes bringing improved textures including for the character and enemy models from Last Light (which is a nice touch).

    All while allowing you to play in the original Metro 2033 style of resource and ammo management, or you can play in a more action oriented fashion with Last Light's game style, In Redux both play styles are accommodated. Along with Ranger difficulty; which make you and your enemy’s more dangerous (something really never in other games like Call of Duty where the enemy is just more accurate).

    All and all Metro 2033 is a classic (Mystery, Horror, Resource Management, Story Driven, Shooter) all of which I would express are done superbly. I have a great passion for the original Metro 2033 game when it released along with the Book Series, and this ‘Re-master’ makes it all for the better and improved! Metro 2033’s dark post-apocalyptic setting in the Moscow Metro is like a character in its self, and gives the game and it characters a great atmosphere. Highly recommended to try it out and find out why so many people love this series!

    Pros: Story, Gunplay, Weapon Selection, Multiple ‘True’ difficulty settings (Play as you want to!)

    Cons: Human Enemy AI (Is sometimes respectable sometimes not so much)

Проходя игру сейчас не могу не радоваться уничтоженной рассеи, потому они этого заслуживают как никогда. Быть стертыми с лица земли за все то зло что они делают в отношении моей страны. The tunnels are very well constructed and you feel like going through a huge labyrinth most of the time. In these canal-system you will find some Human-Camps in which you really feel the agony of the surviving people in thisA game filled with Action, claustrophobic Tunnels, Nazis, Russians and lots of Monsters of all sorts. When it comes to atmosphere this game really has it all. The tunnels are very well constructed and you feel like going through a huge labyrinth most of the time. In these canal-system you will find some Human-Camps in which you really feel the agony of the surviving people in this demonic-like/apocalyptic World. The Human-Species is suffering and this game knows how to present it well, with a heroic story of a young man who tries to make the world a better place again. On your journey you will meet a few companions, loose some, make new friends, do all kinds of stuff like engeneering, dissabling traps, tiptoeing your way around enemies and lots of shooting.

    The story is well written and playing this game feels like a mix of Fallout 3 (scenery), Call of Duty (action-combat) and Resident-Evil (horror). Short 9 hours filled with agony, heartwarming moments and apolcalyptic monsters.

    You have a few weapons/grenades to choose from and also customization-hubs to advance your inventory or customize already owned weapons. I played 80% of the campaign in Hardcore-Mode but to be honest I´d rather not. Some levels especially at the end are pretty hard and it just destroys your immersion to do the same level again and again until you finally manage to pull it off. Combat feels okay, but there isn´t much recoil, which makes gun-handling fairly easy. For me stealth-gameplay was the most enjoyable way to play.

    All-in-all a great experience and I am really looking forward to play the next titles in the series! Worth every penny!

    I didnt like this as much as the original Metro, maybe because it destroyed its atmosphere a little bit and felt more like playing Last Light in a different location than completelly different game but its still the same as the original in a sense so its still **** amazing.

    El progreso en cuanto a las armas esta bien elaboradas sin llegar a estar al final del juego tremendamente chetadas como pasa en otros juegos.     AUDIO E GRAFICA:
    Colonna sonora perfetta che alterna brani cupi (bellissimo quello all'avvio del gioco ad esempio) ad altri allegri e vintage, come a far capire che la gente usa la musica per tirarsi su di morale.
    Dialoghi e doppiaggio non eccellenti ma buoni (anche in italiano) ed effetti sonori buoni, pure con un'ottima stereofonia che aiuta in certi momenti.

    Graficamente invece il gioco si presenta più moderno del Metro 2033 originale ma non per forza migliore in quanto questo forse era più "piatto" e cupo.
    In ogni caso il gioco è piacevole da vedere ma si capisce che è ormai di qualche anno fa, soprattutto nelle animazioni e alcuni oggetti dell'ambiente. Ben curate invece le armi.

    GAMEPLAY:
    Il gioco si presenta come un FPS con qualche elemento survival, stealth ed RPG, ma anche con tanti elementi caratteristici.

    Il gioco è diviso in capitoli e missioni, ma il nostro personaggio evolverà lungo l'intera storia potendo cambiare e personalizzare il proprio equipaggiamento, oltre a compiere qualche scelta di trama.

    Il gameplay sarà invece molto influenzato dall'ambiente in cui ci troviamo, visto che all'aria aperta saremo obbligati ad indossare una maschera antigas (con il rischio di finire i filtri o di rompere il vetro della maschera) mentre nel sottosuolo potremo vivere senza (ma stando attenti ad altre cose).

    L'unico aspetto che non mi ha convinto appieno è che nonostante sia presente un buon quantitativo di armi, alcune delle quali estremamente affascinanti, finiremo per usarne poche, visto che alcune garantiscono poche munizioni o costano troppo, prediligendo invece le armi più comuni. Non essendo presenti troppi soldi nel gioco è meglio spenderli per munizioni, filtri, medikit e granate piuttosto che per nuove armi, senza dimenticare la possibilità di personalizzare le armi in proprio possesso.

    Infine c'è da dire come il looting sia uno degli elementi principali del gioco, in quanto dovremo saccheggiare i corpi e rovistare in ogni angolo della mappa per trovare munizioni, filtri e altri oggetti fondamentali per sopravvivere. A volte sono presenti anche dei "segreti", in quanto alcune zone sono volutamente ben nascoste oppure necessitano di una chiave per poterci accedere.

    STORIA:
    Il gioco è abbastanza breve, io l'ho finito in circa 10 ore ma sono molto meticoloso nell'esplorazione.
    Nonostante la brevità però si riesce ad entrare abbastanza bene in una realtà post-apocalittica molto ben strutturata e pensata (non a caso il gioco è tratto da un libro).

    La trama base è semplice, bisogna sopravvivere ed aiutare la popolazione che si è rifugiata nella metropolitana di Mosca, ma questo porta a situazioni piuttosto interessanti, anche se forse in troppo rapida successione.

    Mi fa davvero impazzire come la moneta del gioco siano i proiettili "buoni", ormai rari e quindi di valore, così come i nomi e l'aspetto delle armi realizzate all'interno della Metro utilizzando rottami.

    L'unico aspetto che può confondere è puramente collegato al quel "2033" presente nel nome, in quanto l'ambiente in cui ci si trova sembra più di qualche anno fa o al massimo contemporaneo più che futuristico (che per me è un pregio, ma il nome può sviare).

    Per concludere, Metro 2033 è un gioco adatto ad un pubblico vastissimo, in quanto unisce velocità e divertimento ad una buona storia, una bellissima ambientazione e alcune meccaniche uniche. Inoltre essendo piuttosto breve non risulta essere particolarmente impegnativo da finire (a meno che non lo si giochi a difficoltà alte).

    A livello di ambientazione, trama e gameplay siamo sicuramente al top. Assolutamente imperdibile per tutti gli appassionati del genere post apocalittico.

    Красивая графика . Отличный геймплей. Атмосфера просто 10/10 . Одна из самых лучших игр в данном сеттинге.

    Sinceramente este juego es demasiado bueno y a pesar del tiempo representa muy bien el genero postapocaliptico en la cual puedo decir que esta en el nivel de the last of us y su jugabilidad me recurda mucho a bioshock 1. sinceramente el unico problema que le veo es que no haya un momento fuerte o impactante que te deje pensando diria que solo el final puede llegar a impactar. en resumen esSinceramente este juego es demasiado bueno y a pesar del tiempo representa muy bien el genero postapocaliptico en la cual puedo decir que esta en el nivel de the last of us y su jugabilidad me recurda mucho a bioshock 1. sinceramente el unico problema que le veo es que no haya un momento fuerte o impactante que te deje pensando diria que solo el final puede llegar a impactar. en resumen es un juego de accion lineal y su jugabilidad su dificultad su historia todo es bueno sinceramente le doy un 9.2 grandioso juego… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had originally bought the trilogy on Steam a couple years ago. I played Metro 2033 for an hour, and then put it down. I remember going into it thinking it was Call of Duty, only to be arriving in front of a bunch of monsters and having no bullets. I quit the game and didn't touch it until about a month ago.

    I went into this game now knowing that it was a survival horror game and it blew my socks off. I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy the game this much. The story kept me engaged and never lost me, all of the characters are great (and in the same way as Game of Thrones - any character you know can just die whenever the story wants them to).

    This game looks incredible. I'm not a graphics guy, but I was incredibly impressed at how this game looks. I never played the original Metro 2033, but from what I've seen, the Redux made a lot of needed changes graphics-wise.

    Gameplay wise, it gives a good mix of everything you can get from an FPS, while still giving the player a choice in how they want to take it. I had a blast going from sneaking around enemy bases, fighting off against hordes of monsters, and mentally battling monsters (the library was a standout moment for me both horror and gameplay wise). There were even a few moments in the game where I had to actually worry about my bullet count and if I was going to have to just run away (having the option to shoot your own currency is also a great addition).

    Although the game has its rough patches (I wasn't a huge fan of Chapter 7 until the actual ending of the game), this game is great and I'm excited to see what the following two games have in store.

    One of the most atmospheric and immersive first person shooters of recent years becomes even better, by enriching its gameplay, normalizing its performance and enhancing its graphics, with the use of the latest 4A engine features. Its main disadvantage is the discontinuation of price discount for those who already own the original Metro 2033 upon official release.
