This collection serves as a competent preservation tool, offering impeccable technical customization and quality-of-life additions. While these DS titles represent a period of diminishing returns for the franchise, the polished interface and robust online features make it an essential acquisition for diehard fans despite the lack of local translation.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection brings three of the iconic Capcom mascot's most niche titles. Star Force continues the tradition that started with 2001's Battle Network, combining card-based combat with light RPG elements and exploration. The games themselves have aged rather poorly, with somewhat basic combat and a game world that is determined to tell you what to do at every turn. So long as you don't mind dealing with some oddball design choices and long-winded stories, you could get a lot of enjoyment out of this unique, albeit flawed, Mega Man card game.

This collection is another step by Capcom in proving that it can bring back the company’s classic gems while still winning over new fans. Without innovating or adding meaningful new content beyond what was already there, the three games and their seven versions are nonetheless well adapted for modern platforms, and the addition of competitive multiplayer is something fans are going to appreciate, even if the lack of Spanish language support and new features may leave more veteran players wanting more.

Most people buy collections because of the games, and in that sense, you cannot go wrong here. Mega Man Star Force is a great series that you will have a lot of fun with, but it’s just not as good as Battle Network was. If you’re looking for special features, there are plenty here, but compared to other offerings from Capcom, it’s quite obvious that their Legacy Collections are copy/paste paint-by-numbers by now, so if you were hoping for something special or extra here, you won’t find it.
