khm... I love metacritic to see this all reviews espacially for this one. Mostly because of Mass Effect 1 , Mass Effect 1 was great game but had problems in cover system that's why combat wasn't so great. But how they fix it in legendary edition is great . Mass Effect 2 was great game maybe one of best rpg's ever and Mass Effect 3 is good had good story there where problems.

While some of the same issues/bugs plague the games - this is a 10/10 remaster. The work they did with ME1 made it a much better game as well as the original ME1 did not age well.

I don't understand why the user review scores are low. Those who give 10 points to ridiculous games had a hard time giving it to this game. It is one of the best game series in the world and it is offered the chance to play with much better graphics. In short, there is nothing to say. If you don't like this game, please stay away from video games.

"Mass Effect: Legendary Edition" is a remaster that brings the iconic trilogy back to life, and as a veteran of the original games, I'll focus this review on the remastered experience.

The improvements in "Mass Effect: Legendary Edition" are extensive and commendable. The first game, Mass Effect 1, receives a major gameplay overhaul, and all three games benefit from impressive visual upgrades and bug fixes. While the remaster enhances the overall experience, there are still some issues worth mentioning. One glaring omission is the lack of a FOV slider in a 2021 remaster, a feature that modders quickly provided as a fix. I find it puzzling that BioWare didn't include such a basic option. Additionally, the EA App Overlay negatively impacts performance in ME:LE, a frustrating carryover from the original games.

Remastering the ME trilogy posed a unique challenge, considering the extensive modding done by the community. However, BioWare managed to surpass expectations by delivering a remaster that not only matches the originals but also outshines the heavily-modded versions.

Mass Effect 1, in particular, stands out with its stunning visual overhaul. The game's environments are breathtaking, and the reworked Mako adds a new level of enjoyment to planetary exploration. The cinematics have been vastly improved, though I did have some reservations about certain character appearances. Nonetheless, the overall transformation is impressive.

However, despite the enhancements, there are still lingering issues, such as stuttering in certain areas like the Citadel. Although it doesn't ruin the experience, it's a disappointment to encounter such technical hiccups in an otherwise polished remaster. Additionally, planetary exploration with the Mako sometimes triggers FPS drops due to what seems like optimization problems.

Mass Effect 2 also benefits from visual upgrades, even if it didn't receive as much attention as the first game. The removal of Black Crush enhances the game's visuals, though I wish the cinematics had received a bit more polish to maintain continuity with the first game. Nevertheless, ME2 still looks significantly better than the original version, despite some new instances of stuttering and FPS loss.

As for Mass Effect 3, it didn't require as many improvements, but the overall enhancements make a difference in the gameplay experience. The better textures and lighting elevate the visuals, providing a satisfying remastered experience. However, I encountered unexpected FPS drops on the Citadel after a particular mission, and the Silversun Strip also suffered from FPS loss and stuttering.

Despite these performance issues, "Mass Effect: Legendary Edition" remains the best way to experience this beloved trilogy. It's an outstanding remaster that showcases a considerable amount of effort, particularly in Mass Effect 1. Plus, it comes at a significantly lower price than the original trilogy with all its DLCs included.

While the removal of a specific ME1 DLC and the multiplayer aspect in ME3 may be debatable, it doesn't detract from the overall appeal of "Legendary Edition". But the bad optimization/fps issues in some areas are something that has to be fixed, and I am sure it will with future patches. Whether you're a new player or revisiting the trilogy, "Mass Effect: Legendary Edition" is the definitive way to enjoy this unparalleled gaming experience. The trilogy's remarkable narrative and captivating gameplay have stood the test of time, making "Legendary Edition" a must-play for all fans of the Mass Effect universe.

Honestly, the PC version of this trilogy is really good. There are a few bugs here and there that EA and Bioware left in and never fixed, but in the long run its still a good game, and those bugs have been fixed by fans. I would say there are two different audiences that should be discussed regarding Legendary Edition: new players and veterans. If you're a Mass Effect veteran and have all the content on your PC already, you're missing nothing new. It's a barely noticeable upgrade over the original games in terms of gameplay.

One thing I will say in its benefit for old fans is the remaster of Mass Effect 1. While 2 and 3 have minimal changes, Mass Effect 1 feels like a completely modernized experience. My metacritic review for OG Mass Effect 1 is a 9/10, but in terms of how it felt and how I enjoyed it as an RPG in the year 2020, it was more of an 8/10. Legendary Edition boosts it to a 9/10 by fixing issues with optimization, lighting, character models, and some of the overall jank (although the experience is still janky by today's standards.) The visuals of Mass Effect 1 received some subtle changes that made the game look pretty meh to absolutely gorgeous in places. It still feels out of date in places considering it's an early 7th-generation action RPG by a studio who has seemingly always struggled to make games with fun combat (in my opinion,) but it's a much smoother overall experience that I absolutely adore. Legendary Edition made Mass Effect 1 go from the game I looked forward to the least to the game I looked forward to the most in any trilogy playthrough, and I want to give BioWare a ton of credit for that.

However, if you have never played a Mass Effect game before and are looking for an RPG, I cannot recommend this game enough. For $60, you get 3 great RPG's that go well over 100 hours when all is said and done. This includes all DLC and all features of the original games except for multiplayer in ME3. You get a great story, good combat, and meet some amazing characters as you battle foes throughout the Milky Way galaxy.

    I'll rate 2 things individually.

Let's start with the remaster part: 4/10. Basically, if you already had the games and DLCs, the remaster improves a bit ME1's gameplay, and apart from that, only provides things like wide screen support, or high quality textures that you could already get with some free mods. If you haven't played the Mass Effect trilogy, the Legendary Edition is perfect. For a very reasonable price, you get 3 games and all their DLCs. And such great games. Great story, great characters, great lore, great music...
The ME1's gameplay may feel a bit old, but ME2 and 3 are still good. And visually, it's good too. Also, your choices matter. Maybe not as much as some other games, but a lot more than most.
Small warning however, the ending is disappointing and not on par with the rest of the game. But that should not prevent you from playing it.

You like sci-fi? You like games with a great narrative? You like games with choices? You like action RPGs? Just play this game.

Probably going to be finishing up a replay of the Mass Effect Trilogy tonight, and will definitely by Wednesday. Holds up as one of the best stories in gaming history. That said, the Legendary Edition was a lazy remaster and far from the remake I wish it was. Especially ME1.

Overall, combat is buggy, especially compared to modern standards, with a lot of clipping into surfaces and really dumb AI (a problem that runs through all 3 games) and the visuals definitely show age in the first 2.

The story and characters more than make up for gameplay shortcomings, but for something that was sold as a AAA developer to have graphics that fall short when compared to a game like Outer Worlds, released 2 years earlier from a smaller studio, is borderline in excusable.

All of that said, I've had a lot of fun with this replay, I agree with the overall sentiment I've heard that Fem!Shep's voice acting is better than Masc!Shep, and I really *really* love Tali and Liara's character arcs through the series. I also appreciated Legion's story a lot more this time around than the first two (mostly because I went out of my way to make sure Tali lives and the Geth & Quarians live in peace).

Based on this, they should start removing all corny, sexy or nude scenes because they might hurt, upset or anger their fans. I hope they don't - but I am worried they are neutering a scene for no reason. It would be better to include more content and options than to restrict and remove. More ass, More lbgtq choices, more straight, more of everything.

There are also lots of improvements made, especially graphical improvements to the original Mass Effect as well as quicker, skippable elevator cutscenes. There is also now a Photo Mode so you can accomplish your dream of applying filters to your Commander Shepard selfies.

However, despite the many improvements, there seems to be many issues introduced such as new bugs, crashes-to-Desktop, audio glitches and framerate drops - issues that I never encountered when playing the original games prior to the remaster. The remaster also didn't fix everything so there are still annoying aspects of gameplay such as the ability to carry around way too much junk in the original Mass Effect or grinding your way through the Planetary Scanner mini-game in Mass Effect 2.

The game´s story is deep, rich and not immature, I love the intellectual level and depth of this game - BUT: When Mass Effect 3´s DLC called "Citadel" happens, everything falls apart and suddenly you´re faced with half baked dialogue, rowdy and pubertal jokes even during serious battles and situations, it´s so extremely out of place, it bares every description. It seems like a completely different development team took care of that specific DLC. I overwhelmingly hate it, because it destroys the integrity of all those great characters by putting absolutely unlikely words into their mouths during that DLC. It feels like some 12 year olds wrote the scripts... You have to suffer through about 2 hours of dreadfully bad writing and an overall weird experience (which differs from the rest as well). 2 yıl önce seriye başlama kararı almıştım. O zaman remastered versiyon çıkacak muhabbeti falan yoktu.

The game is good. But as a port it's not fantastic. A FOV slider would be great, and there is a distinct lack of options in the video settings. However, the game runs well and the frame rates have been consistently high for me (no dips unless you have too many shift+tab tabs open on steam).

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a 2021 remaster of the original Mass Effect Shepherd trilogy. I have to say that I am generally very suspicious of the remasters or remakes of great games of the past. Not because I would not like the idea of an epic older game with new graphics, but rather because I know that such a thing is not why a developer usually decides to do a remaster or a remake. They do it, of course, because of money. ME:LE is no different in this regard. To demand 60 dollars for a not very good remaster with a fatal flaw (see below) from fans, who most likely already own the original trilogy, which, when modded, looks better than said remaster, is a despicable outrage worthy of the worst. But it is the truth: few free, easy to install mods will make the original games look noticeably better than the contemporary remaster. Truth be told, the game runs smoothly, there are very little to no bugs, but there is one giant flaw. There is no antialiasing. Apparently because of the new directX version, the original AA just does not work and apparently the developers could not have been bothered to make a new one, so there you have it, enjoy 150 hours of jagged edges. This is staggering error and the remaster should not have been released without proper AA. It is very immersion breaking and for some people it makes the remaster outright unplayable. Also there is no official reshade, the remaster features the original bleak colors, so you still need to go and download mods to remedy that. But do not worry, because Miranda's ass, the largest (pun not intended) problem in the galaxy has been fixed and removed from your screen. Luckily there is a mod, that restores this great moment in gaming history. Speaking of which, the modding scene, formerly a domain of nerds and neckbeards is being lately invaded by SJW cuckolds creating mods like More gay romances and even one that removes the best feature in the trilogy: Miranda's and EDI's cameltoes. Seriously why would you want to remove that? Are you that uncomfortable with the female body? But I digress.

So all in all, you just paid 60 dollars for literary nothing. Final verdict: 5% (for the cameltoes).

Assault rifles are now simply awful and not at all like the original sci-fi space shooter. Instead of having a reticle that changes size with power usage and firing, the new game has a terrible reticle that just bounces all over the place. Honestly, I prefer the original Mass Effect. It would be different if they brought in cover usage similar to ME3 where we can use corners and left and right hand advantage - zero effort was put in to make it happen.

ME2 is essentially untouched with the exception of editing out Miranda Lawson's gratuitous butt scenes. While this is not a deal breaker or anything - it is rather telling of BioWare's sense of (or lack thereof) direction.

ME3 is the same appalling pile of crap. The deal breaker endings are not addressed. Do not get this game with the hoped that the endings are fixed - they are NOT. The endings are still the same nonsensical pile of appalling excrement.

If you were hoping that the series was somehow made "Legendary", you will be sorely disappointed. If the ME:LE were free, you'd still be getting ripped off. Just play the originals with a few mods from the Nexus - not only will it look better than the ME:LE, it will actually still play like Mass Effect.

To put that in perspective, however, it is also an inferior purchase to buying the older trilogy edition and applying the most popular user-created mods to it. In addition to not quite managing to match up to the quality and options added with mods to previous editions, it adds new bugs and re-cuts scenes and removes pieces.

The only reason I could imagine for releasing this version would be is if they changed the highly controversial and disliked ending to the trilogy; which they didn't.

Buy the trilogy edition instead, mod the hell out of it to get better graphics, more options, and more gameplay than the legendary offers, and enjoy.

I only give this a 9/10 because I never cared for the gun play of the game. It's fine. Back in the day it was on par if not better than many other shooters... and i still didn't care about the gunplay then. It's fine.

The story, the environments, the choices and the consequences, that is what I'm here for. I don't want to spoil anything but the more you put into this amazing space oddessy of epic proportions the more you get out of it. It's crazy to see things from the first game, seemingly side missions, play out into the larger story by the end. Everything seems to matter and the stakes get so high. I love the crew of all three games and the game pulls you in emotionally. You become Shepard. It's fantastic. I'll be playing this again in a few years.

It took me 110 hours for the full game. I'd happily spend that time again.

Starting off with the first game, i find russian localisation TERRIBLE. Yes, it IS THAT bad. Sha'Ira for whatever reason always calls you dear friend/dear captain, which wasnt in original, its just a "fantasy" of people that made the localisation. So is Cpt. Ventralis's "in fact" that he loves to put in his every sentence, so is Udina's "that magical way" or "that simple way", which i repeat, are NOT in the original. The game itself wasn't bad, i haven't experienced any gamebreaking bugs, but the amount of simple bugs in a FINISHED product astounds me, really. Theres been different sorts of bugs - enemy looks out from their cover, points gun in other direction, but actually aiming for you, one time i fell through the floor, had to reload again. New MAKO? I really liked the original rather than LE. One more thing that bothers me - is not having an autosave system. REALLY? its 2021, you make a remaster, and simply dont add such a needed thing to the game? i had to restart the planet inspection a couple times just because BioWare was lazy to implement such a simple thing. Of course, you can press F5 for a quicksave, but you often just forget about it, having an autosave every 2 minutes would be nice. The few good things in ME1LE are improved graphics and UI, really.

As for Mass Effect 2... the game is the same, as it was, not touching the graphics. Having all the DLCs in one pack is nice, but having to double-buy things in ingame shops for credits seems kinda weird, when in original The Illusive Man just sent them to you via letters (the "Dragon" or "Terminus" armor sets, weapons, etc.). As for Miranda's angles everyone seems to be angry about - i found them out of place in the original, glad to see them gone, but theres one in Kasumi's loyalty mission, just in the beginning, when she briefs you. Also, my FemShep turns her head 180 degrees and starts looking in my eyes. i even have a screenshot. Wish i could pin it here

To be fair, I think, i expected a bit too much from the remaster, so i was left incredibly disappointed. if i could turn back time - i'd really rather buy original campaigns instead of this.

It's definitely worth playing the Legendary version over the old ones and it will be mostly an enjoyable experience (but due to how good the first 2 games were more than anything else).

The "remake" effort was very minimal, the improvement in graphics for the first installment would be something that I would consider a must have, so they don't get a lot of points for that. Other than that, they chose not to change much, which is something that I can't really fault, but then again I would expect some work be put into fixing old bugs and widely known issues. We get none of that. The issues that you ready about on older fan forums and wikis are present in Legendary just like they were in the old version. I would have welcomed some QoL improvements over the past versions (as opt in choices for advanced users, so your experience wouldn't be tainted unless you really wanted to). The only thing we get is level up scaling choice between the classic approach and a newer one. Since they don't fix much apart from deprecated graphics and they don't do anything to improve upon the old formula - my conclusion is that this is a very, very low effort.

What worked for the games originally still stands up to scrutiny and there aren't many viable alternatives. So having a slightly modernised version is unfortunately good enough. I also didn't get a chance to play with many of the DLC originally, so replaying directly in the legendary improved my impression from a 7 to an 8, final verdict. ME 1 & 2 stand the test of time, unlike 3 and Andromeda.

Developers, please, fix the bugs. And get Miranda's ass back!

The combat system, the graphics, the storyline (especially the characters side quests that made most of its core to dive deeper into the game), the different world mechanics differing from each of the 3 games and RPG elements made most of the richness of the game. But i am giving a 9 because i played the games through and through to see the flaws but never undermining the game`s potential on the contrary i wish for more games like Mass Effect that was well put with such love for the game`s overall, because most games today have 1 to 2 elements and lack other, Mass Effect captures in its entirety have a complex storyline, very delicate decisions that are game changing through all 3 games, companions that have diverse views on religion and political issues, a flexible and adaptable battle system since you can choose between 2 more characters to balance the party. But my major love for it its how the game is so complete and displays issues that could bring critical discussions points for our current life using a fictional world and fictional characters, its a game that makes you think about how metaphorical some of its elements can be to the current political and religious power in disguise, only who see the world today on its core and played the games could complex points of view on such an issue. Mass Effect have its issues but they worked on most problems that were recurring from the previous version making it a timeless classic, still with its flaws but brought to date without losing its essence Expand

I love Mass Effect series but the problem here is that they have cut out content. There is no Multiplayer mode and they have censored some nice camera angles. The games are rlly amazing but I wish, they wouldn't have cut out Multiplayer. If this game would have Multiplayer as the originals then I would give fully 10/10 Score.

I'm reviewing this as an English speaker playing on 2560 x 1440 monitor who owned and played all the original games. I'm asking myself if paying another €60 to buy a remastered version of the three games I already owned was worth it. I'd tentatively say yes but I expected more.

This is undoubtedly one of the greatest trilogies of games ever and anyone who did not play the original games should buy this and play it without a doubt. With that out of the way, those that owned the previous three games may not be all that impressed by this remake. The graphics do look noticeably better in places, but it's not a huge upgrade in the second and third games. I noticed this most during the cut scenes which looked very impressive, but general exploring and gameplay mainly looked very similar. Also, until they add multiplayer for ME3 we are left with a game that offers less than the original did. And since they spent all this time and effort doing this remake they could have thrown in some more weapons and armor.

I have to give this a good score for people who are thinking of buying this for the first time but as someone who owned the original games, it's not a huge upgrade or a significantly different experience.

The vast majority of the poor user scores here are people complaining about lack of sub-titles in various languages (most notably Portuguese and Russian), or other folks with unrealistic expectations that the Legendary Edition should be a complete remake of all three games.

If you have realistic expectations and come into the experience for the amazing story, graphical polish, and much improved gameplay (specifically in ME1), you won't for one second regret it.

Audio is completely broken (see other reviews) and it has become a total bullet-sponge game. Stand in front of an AI too stupid to know what a gun is and empty a clip in their face. NEXT! As much as the textures have been upgraded this is not worth playing in 2021.

And speaking of combat, ME1 is as clunky as ever, nothing remotely improved. No credible gameplay improvements in ME2 or ME3 either. Just lipstick-on-a-pig fluff screen content. And don't get me started on the ridiculous Origin overlay if you bought it on Steam.

Not even a discount offered to those who already have ME1/2 on Steam or ME1/2/3 on Origin - UNLESS you bought ME3 for a second time on Steam, despite having it on Origin since 2012.

The Bioware of old is long dead. They are the Husks, and EA are the Reapers. So save your money & stick with the original games. They're far more moddable & there's tons of mods to try.

I love Mass Effect, it's the closest thing I'll ever have to a Stargate video game series, and Mass Effect does it for me, the trilogy still has that good old BioWare style that I also love from KOTOR, or Dragon Age, you know what I mean, I'm sure.

I love Mass Effect, it's the closest thing I'll ever have to a Stargate video game series, and Mass Effect does it for me, the trilogy still has that good old BioWare style that I also love from KOTOR, or Dragon Age, you know what I mean, I'm sure.
But I'm not here to tell you how great the Mass Effect series of games is, we already know that. We're here to evaluate the Remastered trilogy, on the PC.

So, I’ll start with what I consider the best part of this remaster, or the best two parts: Visuals, and Photo Mode. From the visuals, I can say the three games look as good as they can, while still being held back by the shackles of old Unreal Engine 3, even if they used an improved version of UE 3, there’s a limit on how much you can add to it.

The visual presentation of these three games I found it pretty satisfactory, I have played these games in the past with the custom texture mods, and I do believe BioWare surpassed those here, but it’s been a while since I last tried those mods, anyway.

Photo Mode has been a great addition to these games, I’ve spent many hours in total taking screenshots, I have so many, at last, proper screenshots to save forever from these great games. It’s great, all games should have a photo mode, it just enhances the experience and lets us take some breaks to admire the visuals or capture funny moments.

Despite all the efforts to improve ME 1, the first game still feels the clunkiest of the trilogy, that has not changed, it’s a lot better now, that’s also true, but it’s still the oldest.

And it’s also the one with the most Performance issues, too, which is where I start pointing out all the bad decisions BioWare has made for these remastered games: they have NOT fixed most of the major bugs and issues the original games suffered from, like: lack of FOV adjustment, terrible negative mouse acceleration in ME 1 (fixable in 2 and 3 via “Mouse Dampening setting”), some questionable animations here and there, zero changes for those (but they took the effort to change the FOV for that well known “Miranda’s backside POV conversation” (mind you, while still keeping most of her other scenes where she basically does the same, but not as close to the screen, so why bother?).

Anyway, I feel happy and sad at the same time, because I’m always happy when I replay these games, but then sad because these series deserves so much more, and so much better, and these remasters feel pretty barebones here on the PC, at least from a technical point of view, with pretty basic Graphics Settings, old bugs not being fixed, etc.

As I mentioned, performance is not excellent for ME1, in some parts like uncharted planets, it can drop below 60 FPS no matter what’s on screen (which normally is a whole lot of empty planet). Frame-time spikes are also common in ME 1, less so in ME 2 and 3, but still not perfect there, while much better than ME 1 for sure.

With my Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 3060 Ti I’ve played these games at 4K DSR and capped 60 FPS to avoid high FPS related issues (like the mouse sensitivity becoming very erratic at 3 digit FPS in ME 1 and 2), yet still in ME 1 I had frame drops at times, despite the GPU not being maxed at all.

And this is why I cannot really give this a very high score, because I’m not evaluating Mass Effect as a series here, that’s what the old games are there for, already: this is the score for the job done on the remasters, period.

ME 3 is the game with the least amount of issues, to surprise of no one, since it’s the last one, but yeah…this is the PC platform, they could’ve done better in certain aspects, this…is Mass Effect, it deserves better.

It is still enjoyable? Sure it is, if you enjoyed the originals…this is the same, but looks better. Is that worth $60 or your equivalent? It’s not, IMO, not if you own the originals and all their content already.

But, it is still Mass Effect, these remasters have their strong points….and weak ones, it all depends on what you value most here, but alas…cannot give too much of a high score here, so I’ll keep it in the yellow zone, for now until they fix the major issues.

As EA finally added an option to choose VO and subs language separately, I'm changing my review to be relevant. Mass Effect was and still is a universally loved masterpiece, and seeing it refreshed, seeing the renewed interest of the community, both old and new is heartwarming. Despite all that, I'm here to rate Legendary Edition on its own.

LE is basically a quick and rather cheap way for EA and Bioware to attract interest to ME franchise as a whole, after Andromeda failure and before new Mass Effect game. While graphical and gameplay changes are welcome, there is obvious lack of technical polish. Bugs that are older than a lot of teenagers are still there for our despair, and there are also some new (nasty) ones.

I really hope it all will be fixed in the end, and what we get is a clean, polished and convenient Mass Effect trilogy for us to return to from time to time and reflect on our memories of playing it for the first time ever.

Some things about Legendary Edition disappointed or irritated me (no support for the mods, no option to import save files or characters from the original games, no multiplayer in ME3, Denuvo, some bugs and glitches) but as an avid fan who played through the trilogy many times, I enjoyed the remasters immensely. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is not just a love letter to fans, but also a great gift that BioWare is making to newcomers to the series. Although some of the issues present in the original games haven't been fixed, there are so many improvements to the first two Mass Effect titles that I'm willing to overlook the minor bugs. The entire trilogy sends players throughout this amazing sci-fi universe that feels alive and vibrant everywhere you look. Perhaps these games should have been remastered separately to get the attention they deserve, but having the entire trilogy in a single bundle that's perfectly playable nearly 15 years after the release of the first game is surely convenient.

Beautiful, engaging and every bit as fun as it was nearly 15 years ago, Mass Effect Legendary Edition lives up to the name. It's a gorgeous, robust title that will make veterans remember how much they enjoyed the series while giving newcomers a memorable ride for the first time. There's no question you should pick this up if you fall into either category because Commander Shepard deserves that much attention.
