    One of this year's better open world games, but poorly optimized with a number of issues including flickering, visual glitches at the edges of the screen, and frequent unpredictable crashes. Game is a 7.5/10, port is a 4/10. Having to wait two whole days for 60fps was no big deal, but that's far the end of issues, unfortunately.

    mafia 3 has its issues and bugs, most of which draw a laugh from me and a few moments were it cost me a mission, its a decent game maybe worth buying if on sale, but nothing ground breaking here just a poor mans GTA.

    I didn't spent $2500 in a f****** PC to play games that looks like old gen consoles.

    It's too bad because execpt the visual aspect and graphic gliches, the late 60's atmosphere is cool. Anyway, I will not buy games without reviews from no on, it looks like an alpha version but i paid for a finished game... :(

    Good story/scenes and some fun gameplay moments, harbored by a lack of imagination of what to fill the other 15 hours of gameplay with. The majority of your time will be spent doing the same repetitive sets of side mission.

    I'm so disappointed in this game. It could have been great but Hangar 13 totally screwed the player. I'm truly starting to get tired of these **** console ports (in this case it's a disaster as well) that require an insane rig whereas the performances are pitiable. The quality is just absent. 1440p looks like a goddamn 720p upscale. The scenario is breathtaking this said, although when theI'm so disappointed in this game. It could have been great but Hangar 13 totally screwed the player. I'm truly starting to get tired of these **** console ports (in this case it's a disaster as well) that require an insane rig whereas the performances are pitiable. The quality is just absent. 1440p looks like a goddamn 720p upscale. The scenario is breathtaking this said, although when the jaw-dropping cutscenes come to their end and force you to go back to the playground, you take a massive slap right into the face that serves as a constant reminder of the fact that without its blissful and climactic progressive scenario, that game would be a derelict. Not even gameplay lifts the whole thing up since it is inaccurate and formulaic. I just hate to think that Mafia III got destroyed by the lack of time (I can't think of anything else explaining this). It's such a shame to see this license being dragged to the bottom of the chasm.… Expand

    Despite the fact that Mafia III does not meet my expectations regarding the story, it is pretty dope in when it comes to gameplay. If you want to spend around 50 hours kicking everyone's ass in the world, this game is definitely for you because there you will find a bunch of generic missions with the task to eliminate various people.     I rarely write comments about games but I will do this time.
    Story, atmosphere, characters are awesome. Even gameplay is good. But repetitive missions in the middle game are barely standing. OMG. It was horrible experience (I played them just to finish game). They better should make shorter game and it would totaly worked out.

And while the game in terms of tone and setting is quite different compared to previous Mafia games, Mafia 3 still offers a decent experience if you're willing to give it a try.

    Where Mafia 3 stands out the most is in its mature story telling.     Where Mafia 3 stands out the most is in its mature story telling. It's rare to see a AAA game that deals with such heavy political themes as racism in 1960's american south. They're present in both story and gameplay, where you get a certain treatment by cops and other NPC's. It's mostly done pretty well, considering that in this day and age where many agressive ideologically driven gaming industry and media pundits demand games to be preachy with ''progressive'' themes and ask for objectivity to be thrown out of the window for their bias confirmation. Mafia 3, for the most part, handles the strong political themes with a balance, if only with few times when they feel like they're being too heavy handed. The core story aspect is based around vengeance, and it's pretty satisfying to take down the mob one bit at a time. The documentary styled cinematic narrative aspect felt really well done aswell, as the game delivers the story with real time events and from a future perspective, where certain characters retell their stories from times, when you as Lincoln, were on your revenge path during the game.

    Gameplay wise Mafia 3 is a rather mixed bag. It involves quite a lot of repetition, doing same objectives over and over to advance the plot. Though, with the game being more in line with something like GTA, it can be tolerable, for me as a GTA fan atleast. Gunplay is somewhat fun, though the gun sound effects are quite lacking and dont deliver that satisfying ooomph. Driving takes up a lot of gameplay as the game pushes you to go from one point to another, i can say that i atleast appreciate that the driving model was made to somewhat resemble how the cars of the 60's handled, with heavy steering and weighty feeling during cornering. However it works best for slow to moderately fast cars, the supercar car types at high speed really dont feel satisfying to drive, with a feeling that the driving physics are almost falling apart. I'm glad that Hangar 13 kept the collection of Playboy magazines in the game, 1960's had some mighty fine ladies. Another positive is the soundtrack, Take Two has licensed some really nice music for the game to enhance the recreation of the time period.

    Taking over districts by bringing down the members of mafia's chain of command and taking over their businesses one by one was pretty satisfying, and the subplots of each of the underbosses were unique and pretty interesting. Well, maybe apart from the fact that the game doesnt give you a choice in whether to spare or kill the underbosses, as most of them you're being forced to kill, while the lives of a couple of them you're forced to spare. Satisfying aswell was the mechanic in how you need to assign the districts to one of your own of the 3 underbosses, that you recruit during the game, the fact that they can turn on you, if you dont give them districts to run, was a bold move aswell, though i managed to keep all 3 happy. I was happy to see Vito coming back and having him as my underboss, at times i wished you could play as him instead, as i really liked him in Mafia 2. Lincoln himself isnt bad either, he's a likeable, bad arse force of nature.

    The game world, that consists of New Bordeaux city and the bayou swamp lands, is quite well made, with nice attention to details and successfully give you that 1960's american southern vibe and atmosphere, but from a gameplay standpoint, the world really lacks when it comes to things to do in it, there is little incentive to keep playing Mafia 3 after you finish the story, as the game world doesnt come close to the sand box freedom and fun that GTA open worlds offer.

    In it's latest build the game runs fairly well and isnt as buggy as in the launch period. Though they haven't changed how weird the skybox looks and the unnatural looking and feeling shift from clear weather to rainy one still remains.    … Expand

    Just same missions gets repeated, Confront someone or shooting the enemy....Boring Boring!!! Mafia 2 was far better than this... Thousands of boring missions like "kill this guy, kill another, kill....

    Game Design
    This game has a huge, gigantic, enormous problem with the design of the HUD. I mean critical and it gets to the point when you question if they are insulting your intelligence with text in the screen, unnecessary indicator signs (you have a GPU thing in the map why you would put pop up signs in the actual city) the mission objectives are all over the place; it really ruins the immersion that was built with the city. This is basic and mistakes like this shouldn’t happen in a triple A studios. There are no save files so you can play missions that you like (not that there are many enjoyable missions) and if you want to make different choices you must start from scratch.
    Videogames 101
    Although there are many technical and gameplay design issues I feel that it has already been said in numerous reviews both from users and specialized sites and are explained with great detail. Instead would like to confront a very serious problem that mafia III has and many heavy narrative driven games have: you are making a game and before start thinking in how you’re going to deliver this awesome story you must realize that the player will spend double of the time playing than watching a cinematic. The most beautiful narratives in this medium are created with the player. What a game designer must do to generate this is simple: guide, linearity, scripted events can’t be seen as a bad thing even if you pretend to create this free roaming city.
    What does a Mafia story mean?
    Long story short: means painful slow downward spiral where the price is not worth the sacrifice, where the stakes are always at its highest. Mafia III set this perfectly, the elements where there, even the hints of the non-linear structure story teased a great finale. Instead, every opportunity they had to give us a surprise was wasted. Lincoln never faced a challenge, I never felt was something at risk (not in the gameplay not in the story) Hangar13 portray an un-clever, boring and non-threating criminal world that is waiting to be dismantled (the retaliation thing was a good idea with a bad execution). There’s not even a struggle when you’re assigning districts and conflicts can be easily avoided. Betrayal, corruption, crisis, collateral damage where only mentioned but rarely affected the player. Cops where supposed to be a pain in the ass because of the period, and because they are in Marcano’s pocket, you could easily create and element of “resistance to expansion” where the cops could have been in charge of closing business and fighting associate warehouses. I’ve never seen such potential wasted so easily. That’s why I felt cinematics felt so out of phase.
    Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven
    What made Mafia became a potential franchise? Well practically all the things they erased in mafia III, some may say the story driven immersive cinematic, I would say many games before Mafia I had this signature (MGS, hitman, Final Fantasy) so no, it’s not the resemblance to a Hollywood movie but the details. Some may say useless I may say the soul of a good strong narrative IN GAME. Gun shells bouncing while you’re fighting an ambush, cursing in your seat because you are out of gas in the middle of the street while you need to go to a doctor, running a red light and stop the car cause the persecution is not worth the risk, pick locking a car and wait for the door to open, realizing that the face of the protagonist has a different mood in every mission, shooting a car in the gas tank knowing that it may not explode at all. That is a mafia game and I’m very sad that the franchise has come to this. I’m sure Hangar 13 gave all his love; I felt the effort in every inch. Probably the best character in the game was the city. But I also felt the pressure, the checklist that they needed to fill, the deadlines and the half delivered game.    … Expand

    Being a Mafia-series speedrunner, expectations about Mafia 3 were really high. Both M1 and M2 were milestones and great games, for the time they were released.
    The game seems like lacking dedication. Graphics are good, but could have been better, Gameplay is good, but could ... you got the point, same for the Story.

    I don't think this is a bad game visually or even story wise, but the gameplay is repetitive and that's what really killed it for me. Besides for the very beginning mission, every mission from then on was basically the same. A very, "rinse and repeat" kind of game.

    A horrible PC port, repetitive gameplay and bad graphics. So why am I still giving this game a 6? Because the game down to its core is still a Mafia game (storywise). The world is also very well created even though the graphics don't serve it well. The best part about the game is the music. This game has gotten me into 60's and 70's rock. So thank you Hangar 17!

My biggest issue with Mafia 3 is, that you are doing the same thing over and over: killing, interrogating, destroying, stealing and driving. The main protagonist, Lincoln Clay is an **** I kinda understand his motivations, but at one point heI think it’s an enjoyable game, but after a couple hours, it becomes repetitive and a bit boring. The graphics are somewhere nice, somewhere ugly. My biggest issue with Mafia 3 is, that you are doing the same thing over and over: killing, interrogating, destroying, stealing and driving. The main protagonist, Lincoln Clay is an **** I kinda understand his motivations, but at one point he even kills a dad who has 3 kids. The AI is dumb as hell and there are a lot of bugs!!     The story itself is really strong, taking place in a fictional kind of New Orleans during the Vietnam war and one the most violent decades in history. Touching subject matter like; Sex, Drug wars, Racism, to    Mafia III could have been a great game, it has a huge potencial on it but it has de misfortune of not being well executed and the end product looks and plays like a rushed product.
    The story itself is really strong, taking place in a fictional kind of New Orleans during the Vietnam war and one the most violent decades in history. Touching subject matter like; Sex, Drug wars, Racism, to name a few, that's a good start point for a story, like i mention, the story is strong and dark... better than the previous games. The ending... not so good.
    The gameplay is boring, the game is a third person shooter, giving the player the freedom to explore the city and do the missions at his own time. The game is split in the main story missions and side missions that will reward you with affiliate favors and earn more money. Now... aside of that, the mission design is so repetitive that later turn to not bee engaging anymore, the missions goes from steal something, or kill someone, interrogate someone and that's all... with shooting more mobs in your way. In the first hour you have taste all what the game has to offer. Playing this game in one sit doing both; the main missions and side missions can take you like 45 hrs to beat (kinda), and like i mention in 1 hr you have experience all what the game has to offer, there you have 44 hrs of the same mission design all over and over again. whit a small addition that you can explore the city to find collectibles like: Hot Rood magazine, Playboy magazine, album covers and Vargas paintings, to keep the game a bit more "interesting"
    Visually the game it's "ok" the cutscenes looks beautiful thus because they are pre-rendered, but the actual game graphics are "ok" for a next gen game.
    One last thing to keep on mind, the game has tons of graphic glitches and some other technical issues, some times some missions will not start at all or some important NPC'S will not react at you and will cause to reload the last checkpoint so they can work. ohh my...
    There's people who said that this game runs badly in every system... for some people. During my 45 hrs i had a smooth frame without any drop (so... i think that frame drops might happen more often with low GPUs).    … Expand

    The story wasn't as deep as the Mafia II. The gameplay was repetitive. Also, the bugs in this game were really making you annoyed. I couldn't enjoy this game much. 41hrs on record.

    Скажу сразу, все эти баги, вылеты и проблемы с оптимизацией прошли мимо меня, так как не играл в игру в 2016, а познакомился уже непосредственно с переизданием, при прохождении проблем не было, всё работало нормально. У игры ужасно скучный геймплей, бесконечные однообразные задания по истреблению тупых болванчиков и захвату территории, при этом очень недурной сюжет. Поставлю игре палецСкажу сразу, все эти баги, вылеты и проблемы с оптимизацией прошли мимо меня, так как не играл в игру в 2016, а познакомился уже непосредственно с переизданием, при прохождении проблем не было, всё работало нормально. У игры ужасно скучный геймплей, бесконечные однообразные задания по истреблению тупых болванчиков и захвату территории, при этом очень недурной сюжет. Поставлю игре палец вверх за сценарии и классное дополнение про оккультистов, вообще хочется похвалить сценаристов Hangar13, но рекомендовать тратить свои человеко-часы не могу, жизнь слишком коротка ,лучше поиграйте во что-нибудь другое, ведь всё, что нам отмерено - путь кометы Галлея.… Expand

    El peor juego de la saga con diferencia, el gameplay de los tiroteos es bueno, pero las misiones son muy repititivas... la historia esta bién, y la optimización para pc deja mucho que desear

    Well, it's playable, but far, very far from previous Mafia games. Driving is bad, missions are repeating and boring, the story is average. I hope they will not fick Mafia Definitive Edition with this.

    It was a really good mafia game with a lot of potentials but it was never used to it's maximum, pushing boundaries of what a real game as this looks and feels like. A whole bunch of repetitive game that is not that rewarding and leaves a sour taste while playing. It gets really boring fast but I have to go to say that music is really good. I think I still prefer Mafia 2 than this wholeIt was a really good mafia game with a lot of potentials but it was never used to it's maximum, pushing boundaries of what a real game as this looks and feels like.     The most interesting part of this game, like all mafia games, is the stories, you follow Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam war veteran that wants to revenge his friends and family death. The story is good but a little bit worse than the last two mafia games, as you're not the mafia himself and the one who want to take down the mafia.
    The graphic is somewhat mediocre, the texture is muddy and the system requirement is really high.
    But the most negative aspect of this game is the game is too repetitive, taking down business and the leader so the high ones come out so you can kill, rinse and repeat, the game is full open world yes but nothing much you can do in the world anyway.    … Expand

    The picture is full of cuteness, it feels like I started the game on the refrigerator.
    And no matter how many patches are released, no matter how hard 2K Games tries to fix bugs, they will still remain. It's been 6 years and    I remember when this game came out, everyone criticized it. 6 years have already passed and I decided to pass it. And I must say that this is still a raw game.

The bodies fall as ridiculously as possible, and the mirrors are just a shame. How can an experienced game company not make good mirrors in the game?
    The main character, Lincoln Clay, is not the most charismatic character.
    The plot is very raw.They wanted to prove to us the philosophy of life, but unfortunately it didn't work out. And the gameplay is not bad and the game was comfortable to play, but the bugs spoiled it all the same.
    Also, the atmosphere is gone. Mafia 1 and Mafia 2 were famous for it, but unfortunately not Mafia 3...
    The missions are as similar as possible. There are only 4-5 interesting tasks in the game.
    And the most important thing. Mafia always differed from other games in that it was not a GTA clone. The mafia could make a very good competition. But Mafia 3 put the series to shame and is now considered a GTA clone.    … Expand

    That's exactly how would I describe Mafia 3...

    First, the pros. Graphics-wise, it's really nice. The city is well made and the buildings are well modelled. Interiors are also nice. The whole atmosphere of the city is very well captured, but it feels a bit strange to make such a detailed city only for driving around and killing people. Main characters are nicely modelled as well, but the 'generic' ones can be very repetitive sometimes. Car models look nice, but some of them are quite bland.

    Soundtrack is amazing. Radio stations have a lot of bangers and the ambient music is great as well, and it’s dynamic and it works pretty well!

    Gameplay is both good and bad. Gunplay would be the highpoint only if your opponents wouldn't be able to outshoot you , an ex-CIA Vietnam War veteran. They can shoot precisely even from the weirdest positions. Driving is...weird at least. Simulation doesn't feel like a simulation at all, which is baffling given how the previous two Mafias could do it pretty well. And you can't store them, because you can only unlock some of them from the predefined list. But the tuning is quite okay-ish, the only problem there is that it doesn't matter, because of the rubberbanding every AI driver uses. Opponents are sometimes Einsteins, sometimes dumbos. Nothing in between. You can lure them to one corner and kill them all there without them noticing something's happening and that they shouldn't go there. Police is also weird. They lack all the features present in the older games. They either don't care or shoot. When they decide to do something with you, in 10 seconds there's a half of NB's police department on your back. That's not because of racism, that's not because they're funded by Marcano, that's just dumb game design. Also, you can't outrun them, even with a faster vehicle, because of the rubberbanding I've mentioned. And one other thing, car chases are even more annoying because of enemy's pinpoint precision, which enables them to destroy your tyres in 5s at the distance of 100m.

    The biggest problem with the game is the story and missions.

    Main protagonists are quite okay written, the best one is obviously Donovan. The others are...meh. Even Lincoln, he looks more like a killing machine than a person. I understand why he’s like that, it just feels weird and unnatural. The dubbing is well made tho.
    The prologue is great, although a bit confusing because you're jumping between past and present. After that, prepare for the most generic and repetitive gameplay ever. Basically the plot is about how Sal Marcano betrayed (and almost killed) you, so you seek revenge. To get to him, you need to kill all of his underbosses and friends. And you can achieve that by capturing districts in the city.
    BIG SPOILER AHEAD!
    All of the district capturing goes like this: meet with two informers, they tell you what two rackets are present in the district and what you should do to them, then the missions spawn on the map. Each district has two different rackets. You need to do certain damage to them to lure out the racket owners. All the missions are: Kill, get info from someone, destroy/steal stuff. Usually, there's one 'unique' mission per racket, which has a different plot but it involves the same stuff as the other ones. After you deal enough damage to the rackets, the racket owner will go out from hiding (usually to a place which you've been to, which is a genius move by him given the fact that you're already familiar with the place). You kill him and then you do the same with the other racket owner. After you kill both of them, you can now deal with the Marcano‘s underboss.
    Honestly, the big missions (killing important people, planting bugs to cars, saving people etc.) are well made and enjoyable, but they take up like 15-20% of the gameplay, which is a problem for a game named Mafia. Mafia was always about the story and missions.
    And that’s the other problem, it’s not a Mafia game. You don’t play as a mobster. You don’t run a mafia. Hell, you’re a black guy (no racism), so you wouldn’t even be able to be a made man. I’m not saying that the story is bad, it’s just badly implemented into the game. Which is a shame, because if you look at the game’s DLCs, they are exactly what Mafia III should be. They have great story, unique missions and quite fun gameplay. The DLCs are much better than the OG story, which is sad. If I give Mafia III 6/10, the DLCs are 8/10. It’s a shame, because they clearly wanted to make a good game, but they stopped halfway through the process.

    I can stand the low fps, the not so good graphic, and also some random crashes. I like the music.
    What i don't really like is the gameplay, so boring and repetitive. Kill all the guys, kill 2 minor boss, kill a major boss, repeat.
    Where is the wonderful story and the thrill from the first mafia ? It's all gone. A bad GTA clone.

    If the AI, graphics and a few other game play mechanics were more polished I would give it a 9 but those things bring what could be an epic game down to mediocre and **** fps caps at least they fixed it fast but why do that unless they are trying to keep console/PC versions similar

    Minor nits? The music. Why can't I crank the music up separate from everything else? Why is the music forced to be the same volume as the screeching tires, or the dialog?

    Why can't I save a car? Not far along to see if Burke can enhance my car, but it's kinda irrelevent as I can't seem to save a car anywhere. Yeah, google might help here. But if I need google to explain gameplay then you've failed.    … Expand

I have played for about 5 hours (experiencing several crashes) and I don't thing I am going to continue.     The next issue is gameplay - it's disjointed from the story and story telling it feels almost like you are doing fetch side quests in MMO. It's utterly repetitive.

    Now boss kill missions are a bit more diverse and are more connected to storytelling, but that's frankly not enough.

    Moving next to a story itself - ideologically it's not bad, but it's not developed enough, it's very straight forward, it lacks plot twists and bit of expansion into more directions. Actually it's just enough because very good narrative and story telling compensates a lot for rather weak plot development.. But with a bit of imagination, more connected gameplay this story could have been pretty solid.

    The areas where Mafia 3 delivers is already mentioned story telling, characters (tho not all of them) and music. Soundracks are really fabulous and they picked most memorable tracks of that time period - I really loved the music in this game. Characters are great - Lincoln and especially Donovan are brilliant, I think these two alone (combined with great voice acting) carried this game out from red rating for me - father James while might appear a bit strange - I thing thematically fits very well here and plays important role in enlightening what kind of story this game is trying to tell. Secondary characters (villains) are also pretty good, they could bring more light on them, but since 80% of gameplay was unrelated - there was no time for it. Finally a bit disappointing are your assets - they have interesting background and good cast, but they stay in the shadow completely thru all of the game - they should have been incorporated more into the game and the story.

    Overall the ending is pretty satisfying as such. It basically tests if you learned something from this story or not (it has 3 major endings, of which one splits into three possible sub-outcomes).

    This game had potential, but it was rushed out in pretty bad shape, but not everything is that bad about it.    … Expand

    1. Take over this place and kill everyone there
    2. Follow and kill him/her, if he enters a car, kill him through a car chase 3. Still, I get 40fps on medium (gtx 970) and it crashes constantly.

    I really really really wanted to like this game, well, I do like it in small doses but it is frankly impossible to get immersed into fantastic story Hangar 13 concocted due to sheer number of technical issues plaguing the PC version.

    Really disappointed with Mafia 3. Please respect PC community and finish your product guys (so now, 2 days after release when the game got negative reviews you plan to unlock the framerate? Like that could not have been thought of prior to release).

I absolutely love the graphics on low settings. I don't quite understand why people say it looks bad. The texture quality is outstanding on low settings, perhaps people want too much. Driving feels bad, it's true it sucks after Mafia II's driving physics. I also miss NVidia's PhysicX, it's a shame they couldn't make a deal with NVidia and put it in just like in the second Mafia. The things I liked the most is combat and story. Combat feels really good, it's fresh, the AI feels like a real player, not a bot who always knows where you are. They also go "yolo" sometimes, which is always fun to watch. What about the story? Well, I liked the "big missions" you get to play once you complete X ammount of unnecessary "side-missions", but even that gets repetitive and boring after some time. Also, when I first saw the return of Vito in the first teaser-trailer, I was excited, but now I think they shouldn't have touched him and other Mafia II characters. The ending of Mafia III completely ruined the dramatic and shocking ending of Mafia II.

    Overall:

    Worst Mafia game yet.
    Worth buying on sale.

    had been released under another name I might give it
    possibly a 6/10 - yes the graphics (once you do a few
    tweaks and occasional groans under ya breath) are OK
    but not ground-breaking.

    The game itself is a cliché "revenge story"
    There is nothing new that has not been done in
    other similar games. Another point I would like
    to make - "cutscenes" hoish! I loved the cutscenes
    of the first game and yeah some of them in the
    second game, but here they jump out at you
    when you least expect them and the pop up
    tutorial just grates on me (would rather have a
    key you can press if needed) - But as it stands I am
    giving it *4/10 because of the misleading manner in
    which the devs have gone about the making and

The main character is not the typical mother-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, he's a good character. Vito turned in an ordinary bandit, Vito from Mafia 2 there is nothing left. The story we are given after a typical yubisoft routine. After a hard day to relax by performing a dull job, after which to obtain the excellent story missions, but objectively it's complete crap. Mafia 3 should consist only of the topical tasks, which is really nice. Although, we all knew it would be open world for open world with a lot of similar missions, the developers have fed us gameplay video. You're first drawn, the gameplay is good, but then I get tired. In the game, besides the story missions and clips, happy music but it does not merit developers, and musicians of the time. The machines are driven by normal, I on the realism went well. Graphics are so-so, not the level of 2016, especially the sky, this is the most miserable in the sky games!
    The finale of the game is good, proper. There even 2 endings. After passing you can feel satisfaction, although the passage you were doing some stuff. This is not a Mafia, this is a typical game in the open world. WD 2 a definite better. To make the game worse not work for anybody. IT'S NOT MAFIA.    … Expand

    As someone who really liked the predecessors of Mafia 3, I must say, this game brings shame to the family, and let me tell you why.

    First of all, the story of Mafia 2, and the way of telling it was so much better, almost all the missions felt different and made sense, unlike in Mafia 3.     Now the music and atmosphere were great in this game, it was all fitting and set the mood well, so as far as the mafia franchise goes, you can see resemblances here.

    But then there was the state the game was in at release, which was truly despicable! How they could even do that wrong to such a degree is still an unanswered question to me!

    So should you buy it, probably not! Unless you don't care about wasting time in repetitive missions and truly like the atmosphere of the game to such a degree that you're willing to buy it.    … Expand

    I can say that Mafia is bad game. But, it can be compared with previous mafia 1,2. This game has a big problem regarding using Ubisoft f**k method I mean go and kill this gang, then again and over and over and over. After 4-5 times of this sh**t you has good mision with some cutscene. And then again. If you like game like latest farcry then this game maybe will be ok for you. Игра мне этой механикой со скучным, однотипным захватом территорий напомнила Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Только это тогда будет Syndicate на максималках. Там то хотя бы было много сюжетных квестов, а в мафии вообще караул (миссий 6-7 по сути, ну что это...).     as much as i love the mafia series, this one just ruined everything.
    -plain boring revenge story ( good character development though)
    -gameplay gets boring after the first 3 hours, cause you have to repeat the same kinda side missions to get into the real things
    -the AI is stupid
    but at least it runs decent and has some good graphics.

In general, buying upgrades is really weird. And finally (maybe it's just me), the world feels a bit lifeless.

    Overall, it comes down to an average score. But only because the story is not trash, it really carries the game. If you don't mind the repetitive stuff, then I would say it's slightly above average (6/10).    … Expand

    As a person who values story, context and the general feel of the mood in the game I would say story ended as soon as you got released in to the open world to help your future crew. Story started again during the end and that was it.     They tried. But it surprised me I expected utter **** and it wasnt that bad it even had its moments but still its plain and boring, still gunplay wasnt that bad it was enjoyable even if it was simple as hell, driving was nice and story was just ok. Its repetitive nature brings it all down and discourage you from finishing it.

    Сюжет затягивает в начале, но потом идет геймлейная тоска, игру не выдержал и дропнул, хотя в начале даже понравилась, графика супер мыльная

Техническая часть ужасна, сюжет тоже не очень интересен, как по мне, истории мести нужно очень постараться, чтобы таковой стать, да и итальянской мафии там уделено не очень много времени. Сюжетные скриптовые миссии тоже мне не показались особенно интересными, у меня вообще былНе настолько плоха, как все о ней говорят, я бы сказал, что находится примерно на уровне второй части.     This games story is amazing, but the gameplay holds it back so far that I couldn’t finish it because it’s just so repetitive. Graphics are bad, specifically skyboxes. DLC is pretty good though.

    After so many years of waiting it's as though they have applied a Watch Dogs feel to the game. The graphics are nice in places but even now the Illusion engine from Mafia 2 is better. It has gone incredibly towards the arcade side, and not in a good way. Repetative gameplay that for me at least does not immerse me in the game, and I'm incredibly disappointed this was the end product. Gameplay gets old very very quickly, and the missions are very repetitive. Story wise, it was meh. Maybe it is the lack of content, the game forces you to play those what are supposed to be boring repetitive side missions to progress further into the mainAlthough this game sets in an open-world, I feel like the devs had not fully utilize it.     30 FPS lock on launch is garbage, and it takes an awful lot of ram (reduces all of my other running processes, making them unresponsive, and takes up 60%). I can say the Witcher 3, a game with three times more content, takes up less ram (40% with responsive processes) while not causing me a near blue screen. (I'm on a standard 8 gigs.)

    Controls are solid and general mechanics (on-foot, driving, shooting, stealth) are not bad at all.

    Historical accuracy and setting is always a plus.

    It's K. I waited for this game ever since 2011, but it's not living up to my hype. I'd be fuming if I didn't get this for free, and remember guys, the rest of the game will come out within the course of a year. Yeah, lmao, stuff that should be base game is DLC, I would've given this a five but I'll just leave it at a 4.    … Expand

    I dont understand why they used that poor idea of a 60s veteran that came back to New Orleans and became a "mafia" member. The story is repetitive and looks like something made in a hurry, many games have similar storylines, so this game story is not enjoyable.

    I should mention that the missions are boring and repetitive, even some places are very similar and all you do is kill guy after guy, it becomes very action-centered and frustrating because of the lack of variety and the lack of ideas of the developers.
    The main character is boring and bland, he lacks personality and the npcs are not better, they behave like dumb robots. This game is also poorly optimized for PC, The driving mechanics are good but they are very unrealistic because when you hit other vehicles they act like a ramp instead of making your car bump.

    + Nice graphics in some places.
    + Good variety of weapons.
    + Good driving mechanics

    Bad (-)
    - Painful AI, some enemies do not react to your presence.
    - Very unrealistic combat and driving animations.
    - Repetitive and boring missions and characters.
    - Uninteresting main charcter and storyline.
    - This game is locked in 30 fps and it has many bugs.
    - Mafia 1 has better animations and it is more realistic,

You go into a neighborhood, attack smaller businesses, work your way up, then take out the neighborhood boss to liberate said neighborhood. Then wash/rinse/repeat.

    Even the storyline itself    I originally gave this a thumbs up review... though for the life of me, I can't recall why. Game has okay graphics and decent open-world sandbox play... but becomes damn near painfully repetitive. You go into a neighborhood, attack smaller businesses, work your way up, then take out the neighborhood boss to liberate said neighborhood. Then wash/rinse/repeat.

    Even the storyline itself wasn't that bad... and originally I had a kick in taking out racist groups and such... but I coudn't bring myself to even finish the game, and even the thought of reinstalling and pushing myself to finish it brings back flashbacks of the overly dull repetitive and grindful nature of my last time attempting to play this game... and to me, that's not enjoyment, it's painful mind-numbing boredom. :-/

    A GTA-style game that fails to engage on virtually all fronts. Mafia 3 is a cliched, boring, non-creative and poorly executed entry to the franchise. It's also annoyingly unoptimized for a 2016 game and that says a lot.

    Game sadly feels like an unfinished product. A lot of technical difficulties, slighlty outdated graphics and more technical problems. Story on the other hand is good, but after an hour or two game got extremely repetetive, to the point of being a chore, not a fun experience

    Buggy game. Unimpressive graphics and gameplay. Extremely repetitive and doesn't feel like they were creative at all. The plot started off eerily similar to GTAV and you spend the rest of the game repeatedly shooting a warehouse of people over and over until you beat the game. Pretty boring, couldn't even finish the game.

    The game is fun but visuals are locked at 30 frames and the graphics are all blurry and grainy. Once again a PC game is limited by the consoles. Game play and story is solid tho but i wont give it more than a 4 until they fix the fps lock and hopefully give it a graphics update to make it not look like ****

    Simply its not even half way for PC, feels like pre alpha or something, really disappointment, do not buy Pc version its not worth it even with 60 fps, i doubt that a major texture fix its done, this is really REALLY bad for an AAA(?) game

    La verdad me encanta la saga de mafia, los primeros me parecen muy buenos, pero este desentona mucho, creo que hacer el juego mundo abierto no estuvo bien, ya que, la recreación esta bien, pero falla en que el mundo no hay mucho que hacer en realidad si no estas de misión no hay nada que hacer, no se puede customizar el personaje, no hay minijuegos, ni minitareas al azar en el juego, muyLa verdad me encanta la saga de mafia, los primeros me parecen muy buenos, pero este desentona mucho, creo que hacer el juego mundo abierto no estuvo bien, ya que, la recreación esta bien, pero falla en que el mundo no hay mucho que hacer en realidad si no estas de misión no hay nada que hacer, no se puede customizar el personaje, no hay minijuegos, ni minitareas al azar en el juego, muy poca interacción con el mundo. En resumen el mundo es aburrido.

    Relacionando con la historia me parece bueno, el juego si tiene algo que contar, posee buenos personajes y buen desarrollo de estos. Muy buena ambientación y banda sonora.

    Lo malo seria, por la parte técnica, gráficos que parecen de la generación pasada y peor diría yo, no a la altura de los actuales, mala optimización para lo pobre que es en temas de gráficos, añadiendo que no puedes jugar a unos 60 fps estables con una PC gamer de gama alta, la IA también muy mala, no representa un reto en el sigilo es muy fácil colarse en instalaciones enemigas.

    Entorno a la jugabilidad, es buena, es cómoda, las ejecuciones violentas me parecen bien, pero lo que haces en el juego es siempre lo mismo, colarte en un edificio y matar a un objetivo, lo que cae en que en el juego siempre estarás haciendo lo mismo, muy monótonas las actividades y misiones.

    El juego en verdad no esta a la altura de un AAA y te hace recordar que 2K no esta a la altura de Rocktars Games.    … Expand

    There are too many glitches. I'm disappointed. Developers made completely new style of 60th. I loved Mafia 1, it was al capone's time. Unfortunately, Mafia 3 and Mafia 1 are absolutely different games.

It's one long grind. The only interesting mission is in the very beginning. Where's all that great story telling the first Mafia had? The gameplay is awful. Enemies are beyond stupid.     Opravdu zatím nejhorší díl série. Mafia 3 je venku od října 2016 a dodnes trpí docela vážným postižením, kterému jsem z počátku nevěřil ale postupem času jsem pochopil. Grafika je dobrá, ovládání vozidel jak v předchozím díle dobré a příběh jakbysmet. Vskutku základ by tady byl.

Jako kdybych si v práci řekl "no už jsem to tam dal tak je to jedno. Nebudu tady zmiňovat vše ale jsou zde ukázkové chyby jak se to nedělá, nebo jak se nato ♥♥♥♥.
    S Mafií jak si pamatujeme to má společný jen název. Kdyby alespoň fungovalo vše jak má. Na to ale 2K očividně ♥♥♥♥ a Hangar13 už zřejmě neexistuje.    … Expand

    To be honest... 4 years after launch and this game is still full of glitches and crashes very often. The gameplay is repetitive and predictable. The only 2 good things? The story cutscenes and Vito Scalleta... . Other then that, it's not really worth playing.

    A a big let-down since the first two Mafia games. While I loved Mafia I and Mafia II, this game bored me really quick. The story is boring and the gameplay repetitive.

    Si bien, no es un juego totalmente nefasto, sin duda es el peor de toda la saga. El que yo considero que es el mayor defecto de este juego es el gran relleno que tiene, es decir, lo alargaron mediante misiones aburridas y los mecanismos de territorios, que si bien, al principio parecen buenos y divertidos, al final terminan convirtiéndose repetitivos y tediosos. Algo que caracterizaba aSi bien, no es un juego totalmente nefasto, sin duda es el peor de toda la saga. El que yo considero que es el mayor defecto de este juego es el gran relleno que tiene, es decir, lo alargaron mediante misiones aburridas y los mecanismos de territorios, que si bien, al principio parecen buenos y divertidos, al final terminan convirtiéndose repetitivos y tediosos. Algo que caracterizaba a los dos primeros juegos fue su corta historia, que si bien, era un punto negativo, creo que esto es muchísimo peor. Ahora, si mejoraron algunos aspectos, ya que yo considero que la jugabilidad mejoro un poco sobre los anteriores mafia, sin embargo, no la consideraría buena. La música que contiene el juego es agradable y muy bien inspirada en la época. Vimos un aumento grande de armas a comparación del juego anterior. En conclusión, el juego tenía potencial para ser el mejor de la saga, pero de por si la historia es la mas liviana de los 3, todavía quedo peor con todo el relleno que ya mencioné.     I never uninstalled PC game so fast like Mafia III. My expectations were really high, because Mafia I was really amazing (One of the my first games), Mafia II was really cool too. I do not understand why they could not follow such a good series...Maybe the story is a little bit interesting but that port. The game is so f**** broken. I am afraid that either updates won't help.

    Game has been patched to include 60 frames, but an initial 30 fps release is dissapointing at best, an insult to PC at worst. Game is entertaining for the first couple of hours, but every aspect of the open world is bugged, so the game fails to pull you into its atmosphere like GTA is able to. Hindering any fun you might have in messing with it.

    How many times do I have to do the same thing? This is crazy! Every single quest should be unique and different. The quests are repetetive. And the game is not about Mafia; this is about a black serial killer who wants to make a revenge.

    character animation scripts are poor exapmle: idle animation starting while talking to me
    aiming is terrible, even wothout assist
    car phisics are horror
    story allways stop to listen a old priest as narrator
    just terrible cheap game

    Mafia III isn’t necessarily a bad game, but it is definitely not a true heir to the Mafia series. The story is rich and the gameplay is satisfying (although it’s nothing special), but having played the previous games in the series (especially the first one), I never felt like I was playing a Mafia game.
