    I played this game without any expectations and without watching any reviews... Bought on sale and it was an amazing decision. Story of mafia is amazing it's cinematic and I wasn't board at any time! Missions are diverse and always interesting. Graphic is beautiful, face animations and voice acting are top of the notch. City and the atmosphere of 30's is amazing. I really only could whishI played this game without any expectations and without watching any reviews... Bought on sale and it was an amazing decision. Story of mafia is amazing it's cinematic and I wasn't board at any time! Missions are diverse and always interesting. Graphic is beautiful, face animations and voice acting are top of the notch. City and the atmosphere of 30's is amazing. I really only could whish that the game wasn't divided into story and free roam... I would love to have both at the same time it's a little shame. Genuinely I wasn't expecting such an brilliant game! I really think that this game deserve a lot more attention. But to be fair there are a few bugs... Missing buttons prompts was the worst bug and I don't know why it hasn't been patched. But there was of course a racing mission... I've spent 3 hours only trying to beat it on the hardest difficulty... finally I came across a video on yt where dude is talking about RAM button and cutting the grass... And magically I have won in second try... That one mission was a hell of a mess! It was not fun at all and I don't know who thought that this would be a good idea! Despite the difficulty on the hardest level it's a really amazing game with stunning story amazing acting and lot of memorable moments! I can surely recommend Mafia definitive edition to anyone!… Expand

    A successful remake. The original game had unplayable mechanics. I didn't understand how people could play that game. You should definitely give this one a chance. The only negative thing about this game was the car racing mission. In the original game everyone was annoyed with that part too. Which brought innovations in games about the story, driving model, storytelling, details, complex narrative and realism. Did he do anything about it? Not really at all.     Promises, promises.. Mafia DE was aimed at to improve the original from 2002. Which brought innovations in games about the story, driving model, storytelling, details, complex narrative and realism. Did he do anything about it? Not really at all. The game it plays like as a bad Mafia 3. Beautiful environment, but horrible animations in shootouts. Driving lost its charm and is terribly unrealistic. Great story but the end of the game and some scenes was terribly turned into ridiculous Hollywood nonsense. Potential in unused content, discarded. Some missions or part of the game are completely missing or slightly altered, it's the same with music that's missing. The choice add in to game difficulty is bad and not appropriate, the classic difficulty is not classic at all and it looks like no one has tested it, you will experience with pain, it has nothing to do with the regular difficulty of the original game. You can't turn off that awful HUD. After this, it can be seen the developers never played the original.

    I really dig that one! Pretty good plot, very compelling characters and a good atmosphere overall. But besides the main story, there's basically nothing to be seen here. Best mafia story in the gaming media though.

    I really wanted to love this game but I just couldnt. The story is rather fun but man for a 10 hour game this gameplay is so repetitive. At first I was like wow this is awesome and then 75% of the way I was kind of wishing it was over.

    Es muy buen juego, tiene una historia que es casi lineal y algo corta, pero se compensa completamente ya que es bastante fuerte, buena y triste, los gráficos son muy agradables, lo único que nunca me ha terminado de gustar completamente de los mafia es su jugabilidad, especialmente al momento de conducir. Se agradece mucho las voces en mas idiomas, para mi eso también cuenta mucho.

    One of the best games of this decade. Great characters, great storytelling and great visuals and sound. The only drawback would be the racing mission but apart from it, every single other mission rocks.

    I think that this is truly a unique game and I would recommend that if you are a fan of this type of genre then I think you should give this game a try.

    The original game was one of my favorites, and I've finally played this version. I honestly felt very respected by the developers. This edition is such a pleasure to play and such a beautiful homage to the fans. There were some bugs and AI problems along the way, especially in the prison mission, but it didn't turn me off.

    I'm speaking about the game as someone with no history with this series. So just keep in mind I'm not criticizing it as a remake, I'm criticizing it as a modern game I paid full price for. That preamble out of the way the game is decent but entirely unspecial and unoriginal. All cover shooting was basic, with linear shooting galleries, and nothing original to bring to the table. TheI'm speaking about the game as someone with no history with this series. So just keep in mind I'm not criticizing it as a remake, I'm criticizing it as a modern game I paid full price for. That preamble out of the way the game is decent but entirely unspecial and unoriginal. All cover shooting was basic, with linear shooting galleries, and nothing original to bring to the table. The driving was likewise serviceable, but nothing special or original, unless your idea of originality extends to driving old cars. The presentation was fairly strong, mostly in regards to the gorgeous soundtrack. The story was surprisingly decent, I appreciated the way the narrative was stretched out over a number of years which kept the narrative feeling a little more grounded what with all the shootouts and car chases. It also allowed for some pretty impressive character development in what was a fairly lean game. That being said it's not necessarily so strong that it deserves super high praise and the ending felt abrupt in some ways. This is the kind of game that I will forget I played in a couple of months due to it not being particularly great or terrible, and due to it doing very little that hasn't been done to death in this industry. My favorite thing about this game is the setting and theme. I recommend this game only if you are really vibing with the theme and still find joy in these factory made style of gameplay systems.… Expand

    Идеальный ремейк устаревшей классики игровой индустрии, с удовольствием прошёл игру и буду вспоминать её когда захочется перепройти какой-то проект с хорошей историей, переиздание сохранило основной сюжет, а также добавило новые диалоги и сцены благодаря которым персонажи раскрываются ещё интереснее, геймплей и стрельа не являются эталонными, однако оставляют скорее положительныеИдеальный ремейк устаревшей классики игровой индустрии, с удовольствием прошёл игру и буду вспоминать её когда захочется перепройти какой-то проект с хорошей историей, переиздание сохранило основной сюжет, а также добавило новые диалоги и сцены благодаря которым персонажи раскрываются ещё интереснее, геймплей и стрельа не являются эталонными, однако оставляют скорее положительные впечатления с остальными современными играми, многие механики из первой части пропали теперь гильзы не падают, колёса отстрелить нельзя и т.д, автомобили чувствуется немного пластмассовыми, однако сюжет и диалоги это то за что мы любим серию мафиа и именно в этом ремастере атомсфера криминальной жизни передана идеально из-за чего ремастер играется великолепно, хороший ремейк классики от которой остаются хорошие нотки ностальгии.… Expand

    I didn't buy the original game. But this is a very good remake of an old classic Game. Great story with great characters.

    Well, one of the best example for the concept of remake. I finished the game at normal difficulty, now i started again at classic difficulty and its not as hard as mafia version 2002. Car mechanics are so good. Especially with the manuel transmission. About the Guns, Semi-Auto Pistol is very cool, but i didn't like something about Tommy Gun. a perfect Linear game in a magnificent world ofWell, one of the best example for the concept of remake. I finished the game at normal difficulty, now i started again at classic difficulty and its not as hard as mafia version 2002. Car mechanics are so good. Especially with the manuel transmission. About the Guns, Semi-Auto Pistol is very cool, but i didn't like something about Tommy Gun. a perfect Linear game in a magnificent world of 1930s (which means the game is not open world) but if u want to explore this masterpiece world, u can play 'Free Ride' mode.     The game ran as smooth as a butter. The story was really good. I was eager to know the end and it did not disappoint. If a non-ray tracing game like this can look this beautiful then other games should not have any excuse. It should not matter if a game has ray tracing or not to look good.
    The fact is that the game is set in the 1930s. So it's hard to complain about lousy driving controls    The game ran as smooth as a butter. The story was really good.     This game is dope. Man, this remake just changed the whole game atmosphera. The history break you heart deeply. Mafia II DE didn't make this great difference for me as Mafia I did.

    This is a full-fledged, honest to God remake. Some changes to the story will upset hardcore fans, but I think this approach is absolutely justified. Even though this remake is not as amazing as new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7, it’s still a worthy update.

    The main difference between the remake and the original game is that the latter was outstanding for its time, while the Definitive Edition is “merely” good. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. What’s crucial here is the fact that Hangar 13 approached the original’s narrative with proper respect and refrained from changing it too much. Mafia: Definitive Edition might not be remarkable as an open-world action game, but it still has the story worthy of the most revered gangster movies. [12/2020, p.28]

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of mixed flavours. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's great. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's awful. Mixture of aged mechanics and amazing graphics, new voices, great old story and some added, yet bad storylines, make it not such a perfect remake. But it sure is worth your time, whether you are a fan of the original or not. The moral of the story survived in all its glory, just be sure to focus your attention to the details where Mafia used to and still shines the most.
