Brilliant and captivating, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime really shines when played with a human partner.

Lovers in a dangerous spacetime is a brilliant co-op game with some clever ideas and a very nice look. Played alone is mildly fun, but when you play with a friend it's a total blast.

This is one of the best indie games we've played this years. Unless you don't like coop experiences, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a game you should play.

An exercise in heavenly multitasking that’s exhilarating alone but better with a friend.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a fun and enjoyable take on the shooter genre, focusing on exploration of each area instead of vertical or horizontal scrolling.

A few difficulty spikes threaten to spoil the colorful, effervescent fun in Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime’s frantic cooperative 2D-shooter action, but its novel core emphasis on relying on coordination with another player or an AI partner to overcome such challenges is usually strong enough to overcome the occasional frustration.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a marvelous local co-op game. The bad: The lack of an online multiplayer component.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a fun experience that excels both in terms of mechanics and presentation and manages to showcase the kind of innovation that indie teams can deliver in a genre that has long been ignored.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is like a relationship: is fun only with an actual mate. [Feb 2016]

A very clever and addictive shoot'em up co-op game, with a lovable, not pun intended, appearance. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime has some little flaws, like its difficulty spikes, but aside those it's perfectly executed.

A beautiful game that shines in co-op but doesn’t have much to offer to a lone player. [13/2015, p.52]

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a cute, simple game about space travel and the power of love. Though you have the option of flying solo, take the title’s advice and play through this game with a friend for the optimal experience.

With charm, style, and large worlds to explore, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime offers both a great local co-op and single player shoot em up experience.

This is a simplistic albeit immensely entertaining game if you experience it with a friend. The demanding situations of the later stages will require your utter cooperation leading to exciting battles for survival. Being designed as a primarily co-op experience, though, you should prepare for a more dull and trivial experience if you approach it as a single player game.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is the ideal game to play with two players. Your space ship has a unique way of controlling it in which you have to do everything at once, but it works like a charm. Everyone has its own tasks, but it is just as important to function as a team.

The hope and expectation generated by a successful launch dissipates all too quickly, leaving these lovers floating aimlessly among the stars, a spaceship without a rudder. [Nov 2015, p.123]

I remember playing this game with the dev at either PAX or E3 and asking if he had heard of the Space Alert board game (where you need toI remember playing this game with the dev at either PAX or E3 and asking if he had heard of the Space Alert board game (where you need to jiggle the screensaver else your ship might come crashing down). He confirmed, and fortunately he made this game much less comedic dystopian and much more comedic fun.

This is a great game to play with a significant other who might not be into videogames, up there with Portal. The art and sound is approachable and cute, you can tell the non-gamer that there really are only two buttons, and it's immediate laughs when someone tries to pilot the ship and runs into an wall: "It came out of nowhere!"

I've only dived a few hours into the game and the only issue I can see is a short shelf life, like with Nidhogg or Towerfall Ascension. But I may be pleasantly surprised the more I play, there appear to be many unlocks available. Otherwise, if you want a breath of fresh air for couch co-op this is the game for you. It's a much more memorable experience than a ticket to a movie anyways.
