Despite its shortcomings, I ended up liking Lost Eidolons. It’s an indie title that aspires to be a big budget epic, whose worst qualities are more than compensated for by a strong story and inventive — sometimes brilliant — gameplay mechanics. As the old saying goes: don’t judge a game by its characters’ lifeless, blank stares.

Lost Eidolons provides an unexpectedly interesting storyline, which remains engrossing until the end. Some wrinkles appear in both the audio and visual presentation, but these does not deter much from the core of the experience, which is none other than the gameplay.

Lost Eidolons shows a lot of promise, especially as a debut title. Its combat ensures that tactical aficionados will get plenty of enjoyment from both the challenge and depth available to them, while Ocean Drive Studio has also ensured that there’s enough to get the more casual fans on board as well. While the game’s story ends up fizzling out a bit, there’s plenty to look forward to should the studio elect to return to Artemesia in future.

Lost Eidolons is a successful title that pays a role-playing side that is not exactly exceptional and a story that cannot stand the amount of dialogue and narrative sequences inserted by the developers.

I didn’t have high expectations from Lost Eidolons, which is why I’m pleasantly surprised and can’t wait to see what’s coming next from Ocean Drive Studio. Despite the fact that it starts very slow, there’s a lot of enjoyable content hidden under the guise of a standard turn-based strategy game. If you love the Fire Emblem series or just looking for an XCOM-style strategy game, Lost Eidolons is well worth your time. With a little additional polish when it comes to presentation and more weapons/armor variety, I think this could have been close to a masterpiece.

The star of Lost Eidolons is the combat system, bringing together a lot of things and managing to make them enjoyable and complex at the same time. While there are minor issues such as the stiff facial animations and the choking Turn Limit, Lost Eidolons is still a great title to sink our gaming hours into. Even if you're not a fan of tactical turn-based RPG games, you should try this game out.

It's hard not to respect and get swept up in the ambition of Lost Eidolons, where even the flaws and mediocre presentation is made worthwhile with some competent, classic SRPG gameplay.

A traditional SRPG which strategy and tactics are its key. It seems like the game deliberately chose the serious, heavy vibe over flashy visual. The game's graphic based on reality is surely a different, charming point among other anime-style SRPGs out there. However, that kind of seriousness can make someone to feel the game is too heavy, difficult to immerse in most characters or the story itself is too monotonous.

Minor issues aside, Lost Eidolons is a truly impressive tactical RPG. It has solid and easy-to-grasp mechanics and manages to differentiate itself thanks to the weapon swapping and realistic visual style. While there’s still some room for improvement and some minor issues that require fixing, I can wholeheartedly recommend this to any fans of the genre. Here’s hoping this talented new team has many more exciting adventures to share in the future.

Inspired by classics of the genre, Lost Eidolons delivers a massive experience with its own homemade features. I recommend this insane T-RPG without a doubt.

Lost Eidolons is a tactical RPG that takes time to become attached to. However, once you start to get the swing of things you may just become hooked.

To say Lost Eidolons is an indie title with AAA aspirations is not a knock against it, but a true reflection of its quality and the potential it has if its edges were more refined.

The characters form the heart of Lost Eidolons, but a whole slew of grating and annoying issues makes this a run-of-the-mill tactical role-playing game.

It is a bit more bloody but make sense because it looks to be more realistic. May not be the most cinematically impressive but it's different from all the pixelated tactics games that's hit the market and it still hits all the feels with great dialogue and VO. Full Review »

Unoriginal disaster. Battles are all nearly identical: bash gates and 2 shot all human enemies with nearly identical white male allies. Woo,Unoriginal disaster. Battles are all nearly identical: bash gates and 2 shot all human enemies with nearly identical white male allies. Woo, what fun.

Then out of combat, you have to do an hour of tedious fetch quests and listening to everyone babble on about nothing if you want to unlock extra characters and get stuff.
