It's a solid RPG meant to relieve the classic experiences of the genre. Consequently, there's nothing 'new' here but a tribute to the genre.

Lords of Xulima is a fantastic old-school RPG.

Great old-school RPG that delivers 100h+ of gameplay, an intriguing story-line and a strategic combat-system. It might be seen as a tribute to the most popular games of the genre, such as Wizardry or Might & Magic. There's nothing better out there for a more-than-fair 19.95€ price.

Lords of Xulima is an addictive and huge RPG. Numantian Games' production provides hours of engaging gameplay, despite its poor graphic design.

Lords of Xulima is strictly for the more masochistic of gamers. Its merciless difficulty that only exponentially spikes the further you play should come as a dream come true for fans who like the ultimate in ball-kicking.

Lords of Xulima is really an old-school RPG experience. Don’t skimp on reading the manual, or your adventure will end quickly and painfully.

Lords of Xulima RPG game builds its foundations on an old school difficulty. It surprises with an interesting gameplay and precise locations, which are overcrowded with invisible enemies and never-ending grind. The game becomes boring after few hours, but if applied properly, it rewards you with a pleasantly nostalgic experience.

Lords of Xulima is ugly, some of its elements are too simplistic and the story is poor but you rarely find an RPG that tests you intellect to such a degree, making you count every coin you spend, thoroughly examine every piece of equipment, keep track of food supply, endlessly tackle puzzles, carefully manage characters’ stats, look for alternate routes and find out how to beat different monsters. Veteran players will be pleased, the others not so much. Xulima’s tribute to the old times means mostly the extreme difficulty and uncompromising approach in every detail. [Issue#249]

If you played M&M; If you played Xene; if played Wizardry, and you've spent all your gaming years since then looking for a game, any game, to scratch that itch of a classic, old school'ish RPG, this is that game.

Real time movement on the map; turn based combat; dozens of skills, spells, stats and classes. Up to 100 hours of play (if your a completionist); and just the right combination of old style RPG gaming with lots of modern amenities blended in.

Mix in a Development team that actually listens to it's community, and adds patches/upgrades faster than you can say "Kill That Ogre", and you just can't go wrong with this game. Watch any UTube video on this game if your on the fence.

The game's graphic style is unique and refreshing; classic 2D top-down perspective, but with a level of detail that is easy on the eyes. The combat is addictive and challenging. The music is the best I've heard in a game in a very long time. Overall, fantastic game. Highly recommended. Full Review »
