    Biggest suprise of the year for me. Great narrative, relatable story, awesome music and visual style (dem saturated sunsents!). Anyone who claims this game is an SJW wet dream clearly didn't play it. For fans of the genre and time travel, this is a must have title :).

    Warning: Might make you cry like a little **** :P.

    Brilliant. Well written story always curious what comes next. Great atmosphere, music and atmospheric sounds. Creative piece of art. A fiction novel in which you play your own part as a story character.

    A beautiful game in both a story and visual sense. Simple control mechanics and a user determined pace allow you to become invested with such ease that it's hard to stop playing and exploring every inch of Arcadia Bay. Amazing cast and a tear enduing score/soundtrack.

    If I could only recommend one game this year, it would be "Life Is Strange".

    II loved everything about this game: - The storytelling is beautiful and well done. It doesnt fall into the pitfalls that a lot of time-traveling stories fall into. It all feels logical, and the story is a beautiful melancholic tale. - The graphics are not "great graphics"in the traditional sense, but the cinematography and artstyle is just amazing. -    A masterpiece of storytelling.

    - The soundtrack is beautiful, and captures and enhances the moments of the story very well.
    - The voice acting is superb. I love the emotion and character each voice actor put into his / her work.
    - The choices you make in the game actually feel compelling. Even though the general outcome of the story will always be very similar, as in most choice heavy games, at least in this story, the choices dont feel 'tacked on"but actually part of the story.

    If I have to find some negative points, they would be very minor.
    - The facial animation of the characters could have been done better. Their lips dont move well with the dialogue at all, which detracts from the strength of the scenes a bit.
    - The 'freedom' which you get to explore the world is zero. But this is always a choice of storytelling over player freedom. I cannot blame the devs for making this choice, I actually prefer it. Not every game has to be open world. But it would have been nice for at least some freedom in exploring the map or something.

    Overall, I truly recommend this game. One of the best games I have ever played. If you love story-driven games, please give this game a shot!    … Expand

    If you support social justice and progressive gaming, this is just for you and its a must play.

    If you don't, it still a very enjoyable story similar to heavy rain and twin peaks.

    A beautiful game with a fantastic story which maybe has not a lot of gameplay, but honestly, I don't think it needs more. The characters are charming, even if the most are the typical teenagers. Twisted, heartbreaking, disturbing, and even funny, this game is one of the best games I've played in PC. If you like games with great story, definitely check out this one.

    This game has a great storyline and very lovable and distinctive characters, a unique art style, and gameplay mechanics that I have never seen in any other games I've played. The characters are also really well voice acted and life like and made me emotional at times.

The game allows you to choose your decisions, making it impossible to resist playing it again to see the other outcomes of the game.     And yes, there's plenty of drawbacks. In a game that is all about choices the story is very linear and hence number of choices is actually quite limited (and most of them do not change much). I guess it was simply far too difficult to fit such an amazing story into a non-linear world. The game does it's best to hide this problem and does it really, really well, but the problem is still there and it's visible sometimes. The visuals are nice, but character's faces in a game that is all about humans aren't visualized perfectly. The game deep immersion method means that when Max will be in trouble or frustrated, you'll be in trouble or frustrated as well (face a difficult or frustrating puzzles). But it all doesn't really matter. There's so much good in the game that all these problems are barely affecting gameplay after the few first hours. 11/10, it is sad that it'll be too difficult to expect another game that is that good anytime soon.    … Expand

    Good game but it has set Square Enix in a the episodic genre, and they are now doing it with the soon to be released Hitman. Square Enix does not have the experience, nor the skill to make every game franchise episodic. They should leave that to a more veteran company in the genre such as Telltale Games.

    Life is Strange is even simpler than Telltale games and nowhere near as playable as Broken Sword, The Longest Journey or classic Lucas Arts adventures, but it's not a bad game.
    It all depends if you'll like the characters or not. It's like a TV Show, go ahead download demo or buy first episode. If you liked it, you will like whole game.

    The story is good and characters are likable. There are some great moments and the ending is good. The ending is actually the best part of the game. I would give 6/10 but ending is just a masterpiece. Can't tell anything about it, but it's not a typical ending and it's very emotional. It's like the game was preparing player to face the truth.

Relations between Apollo and Dionysus complicated by circumstance and other archetypal teen characters. The story as told by Mighty    Narrative (4.5/5)

    Max may at first seem like a run-in-the-mill female teenage protagonist.
    The not-quite an introvert teen who initially gains courage extrinsically (through her powers and BFF, Chloe) and later intrinsically after a couple of epiphanies. Relations between Apollo and Dionysus complicated by circumstance and other archetypal teen characters. The story as told by Mighty Max from her humble pedestal.

    Fortunately, this is (mostly) not the case. Characters are revealed to Max by conversing, nosing around and reversing time to unravel additional options. Depending on Max's interactions, she is able to find either redeeming or damning qualities in the characters she meets. There are times when not noticing someone could be of consequence, even if insignificant to the main story.

    This game truly shines because of the script and character development. The way characters are interwoven keeps the player engaged in the story. Time moves on, but is never the arbiter of events. Even so, Max, with her powers, struggles to make the right decisions. All thanks to Chaos theory. I.e. Jerking off can diverge into infinite possibilities that are vastly different from the initial conditions and impossible to accurately predict (dead kittens, blinded kids, pregnant nuns or crusty socks?). In this case, a blue butterfly, screwing up time and space somehow equals colossal tornado (a reference to the butterfly effect).

    Maxine is a self-conscious perfectionist who doubts her talent and rather skip submission for her photography assignment than to risk being seen as a wannabe. She is highly empathetic, observant and curious. Perfect for a click and explore graphic adventure game.

    As characters are the focal point, part of the allure of this game are the trinkets of insight into the lives of Max and her peers within each locale. There are a few hints as to what is to come in later episodes. Most are just tidbits of information, whilst others are a little more open to interpretation. An example would be her low GPA for someone fairly smart. One could assume that she is probably either too focused on her pet subject (photography) or she has not been submitting her assignments due her aversion to failure.

    Chloe is a almost a walking cliché. The gist of her story is that an accident killed her father. Max and family moved out of town soon after. Chloe is angry. Gets involve in drugs, sex and becomes a school drop-out. Nonetheless, Chloe is essential to Maxine's development as a character. She is the catalyst and the only person Max truly confides in.

    Sadly, the finale barely farts an impression. It pales in comparison to the final scene between Clem and Kenny in TWD Season 2.

    Choice 1: F**k off Chloe. No Lesb*
    Choice 2: F**k the world. P*ssy grind now.

    Game-play (4/5)

    Time warp does enhance the story and game-play experience. Given that choices are key to providing such a game with some semblance of players' agency. Time reversal complements well with Maxine's character. Unsure!? Reverse!! But screws up anyhow.

    The task of adding to the collection of photos in Max's diary is a nice touch. Many of which would be missed if a player rushes the game. This means the game has an element of openness to each locale.

    I bought the full game 5 months after Ep 5 was released, so I am guessing most of the bugs would already have been fixed. All except a moment when Max showcased her awesome ventriloquist skill in the finale.

    Graphics (5/5)

    The art is pretty stunning. The lighting and ambient color palette is visually balanced without being overly vibrant and definitely not as dull as Telltales' comic book art style.

    The game brings out the mood using autumn red. The calm before the fan, spinning at full speed, comes loose and hits the floor already piled high with sh*t

    Music (4/5)

    Original score - Nice.
    Licensed music - Very Nice.
    The way a song is heard from Max's perspective using her headphones and hi fi is noteworthy. Great music that goes well with Max the Lovable Hipster. That's a compliment.

    I played this game with my girlfriend, we were both very touched with the story and characters, you fall in love with them in a way only videogames are capable making you fall in love with fictional characters.

    Because when i first play this game, i was like ''oh here we go again with high school doing stupid things and now she has rewind power? '' first i thought it was all happy game, but when i go deeper in the game, i notice that it isnt always sunshine and rainbow and that is life too. maybe that is why life is strange?

    My verdict of this game is that this game is a solid art! and a true life lesson, you are more open minded and all the emotions getting throwed at you not knowing if you can handle all this. and that is life.

Life is Strange is by far one of my favorite games, it has a great story, the mechanics are wonderful and blend perfectly with the story, and the characters are great. This game's story is amazing, telling the story of a young woman learning about life. I don't want to go into the story that much because the best way to experience the game is by going in blind. The twists are memorable, and the story is touching and a emotional roller coaster. The gameplay is pretty good, the puzzles are fun to engage in and to solve. Although I feel like there more could ave been done with it, I still feel like what we are given is great. The telltale like gameplay is also great with the choices you make actually making a difference in the story, although in the last episode *spoiler* I feel like the last choice deciding the ending is a bit disappointing.     This game is amazing! You really feel connected to all of the characters and every decision you make impacts them and you throughout the rest of the game. Being able to rewind time is a awesome concept which is executed perfectly and makes for some really cool and intense gameplay.

    Analizando objetivamente el juego, está muy bien logrado en todos los aspectos. Tiene una buena historia, una premisa interesante y personajes con los cuales sentirse identificado. Creo que es uno de los mejores títulos que he jugado en este último tiempo, no me arrepiento de haberlo comprado pero si me arrepiento de no haberlo hecho antes. Es un gran título que todo el mundo deberíaAnalizando objetivamente el juego, está muy bien logrado en todos los aspectos. Tiene una buena historia, una premisa interesante y personajes con los cuales sentirse identificado. Creo que es uno de los mejores títulos que he jugado en este último tiempo, no me arrepiento de haberlo comprado pero si me arrepiento de no haberlo hecho antes. Es un gran título que todo el mundo debería disfrutar. Un juego que te permite armar tu propia historia y ahí está la esencia fundamental del juego. Al fin y al cabo, no todos tomaremos las mismas decisiones y por tanto cada uno tendrá su versión de los hechos, aunque bien es cierto que se puede rejugar escogiendo distintas cosas pero lo ideal sería quedarte con tu versión de la historia que este genial juego quiere contarte. Con esa versión de la historia de la cual formaste parte, que sin ti y sin tus decisiones hubiera sido muy diferente. Aunque lamentablemente el final sea el mismo en todos los casos, está bueno que cada uno vaya siguiendo una historia completamente diferente.
    Ahora, si me pongo a analizar este juego de manera subjetiva, es decir, lo que a mi me pareció y si me gustó o no... debo decir que lamentablemente no me gustó que ambos finales le dieran un gusto amargo al juego. Tratando de no hacer mucho Spoiler para aquel que no lo haya jugado solo diré lo básico. Aquel que elija salvar la ciudad tendrá un final super amargo si la persona que jugó se había encariñado con cierto personaje. Por otro lado, si no se elige salvar la ciudad, sientes que el final no termina de convencer. Me he tomado el tiempo para poder obtener los dos finales antes de hacer esta reseña pero debo decir que me hubiera gustado un poco más de esfuerzo con este último final mencionado ya que se siente como si estuviera incompleto... está vacío... y no es una sensación agradable para el que juega. En fin, volviendo al título, está muy muy bien y lo recomiendo. Ojalá tenga el placer de jugar otro título parecido a este. A este juego lo hubiera puntuado con un 10 sin ningún problema, lamentablemente el sabor amargo que deja el juego, con ambos finales, hace que lamentablemente tenga que darle esta calificación. Aún así este juego es estupendo y lo recomiendo al 100%    … Expand

    Insanely entertaining, emotionally deep and well crafted story game based on decisions with a fun supernatural element. The characters are well written and fleshed out and the game moves along at a nice pace. The climax is satisfying and, while a bit predictable, well executed.

    Um dos melhores jogos já produzidos. A abordagem foi diferente da convencional, o que pegou todo mundo de surpresa. Única coisa que pecaram foi na sincronia dos lábios, mas que não fez a menor diferença no gameplay.

    The relationship of Max and Chloe, evolving in the sweetest way in a fictional city where everything is indie and sad. And you decide what happens between them and between Max and each character. 10/10 because you can feel the love of the developers and because it has one of the most compelling ost in the videogame industry.

    You wouldn't assume to form any sort of attachment to so many characters in a game at the start, but throughout each episode, you get more and more enthralled by the story and everything that's going on around you.

    There were some inconsistencies to the rewind feature though, and it is not always available when you want it. The story and player choices are reasonably well implemented, but there are the usual limitations - choices are limited, and they arguably don't make that much of a difference. The game runs stable, but there were some minor bugs with not being able to activate some objects. Lip-sync is bad. The game also has fairly severe consolitis - an unpleasantly low FOV, bad mouse acceleration, and sensitivity settings that sometimes reset when the game is loaded. The checkpoint save system can be a bit annoying at times. These are all only minor issues - the game was still very enjoyable.

    Overall, this is a good interactive-story game that I can easily recommend.    … Expand

    Life is Strange is far from perfect. In reality our decisions and impact on story development is not as great as we would like and in the end regardless of other choices we are presented with similar dilemma. This put serious limitation on replayability.

    Additionally, the game is relatively short (it took me 12h to finish it) and if I have played each episode at time of its release I would be really annoyed. I would have probably be not able to enjoy it because "Llife is Strage" is about very well delivered engaging story and playing it for 2 hours every 4-6 weeks would break narration and prevent any emotional response. It needs to be said that plot could have been better at times.

    In my opinion releasing adventure games in episodic format limits enjoyment and in the longer run companies end up making less money, because as a consequence product they sell seems less appealing than it should.

    Fortunately I have played all episodes at once and ... that was memorable and intense 12 hours. This game is completely story driven but being able to affect events and express myself made the experience more engaging than any great tv show could have managed so far.

    I should have give this game 9 (I given 9 points to Dota 2 and played over 1000h), but I enjoyed it so much, that I turn blind eye on lack of replayability, limited choices and some flaws in the plot.    … Expand

I'm glad that some good came out of Telltale going under, because it made me look at this game again and really play it for the first time. I actually played the prequel first "Before The Storm," and although is was also a great game, the original is much better. So much intrigue, color, characters, and mind blowing twists and turns. It will keep you glued to your seat from start to finish. It doesn't have as much replay value as the prequel in my opinion, but many replay it multiple times because the game is just plain GREAT! BTW, despite "Before The Storm" came after the Original "Life Is Strange," it is regarded as a Prequel and not a Sequel. Hence the name, "Before The Storm." Any who...

    You play Maxine (Max) Caulfield, who develops powers to actually rewind time and change her
    decision making. No one knows how it happened or why. She foresees a disaster that will hit Arcadia Bay, and in the end, she must make the most difficult decision she will ever have to make.

    If that's not enough, Max also reunites with her best friend Chloe after not seeing her for 5 years. The two join forces to unravel a mystery of missing students from Blackwell Academy, including Rachel, who was Chloe's friend and possible love interest in the prequel. This puts Max in a difficult situation, as she and Chloe have been friends and possible soulmates since they were kids.

    In closing, it's one of the best games I've played in quite some time. The DEVS did an incredible job on everything, especially the art, voicing, music, and puzzles and lots of Easter Eggs, if you can find them. The only reason I am not giving this little gem a perfect 10, is due to Max's rewind power. There are some areas where this ability needs to be used a lot and in repetitive scenes, especially in Episode 4. Despite this however, I highly recommend this game. Dontnod deserve credit for their efforts in this area. In LIFE IS STRANGE they have attempted to create a story-rich experience that requires the player to engage with the narrative and to make moral and ethical judgments and then act upon them. The developers have made much of the fact that the player must make choices, some of which may be difficult to make. So far so good. However, although LIS does have an engaging story, and there are indeed choices to be made, neither aspect of the game quite lives up to the promise. In their (laudable) efforts to cover as many themes as possible (drugs, bullying, domestic violence, et al.) they’ve bitten of more than they can chew and as a result the main story line suffers. The first couple of episodes are somewhat slow and uninvolving due to a lack of focus. Also, during the early stages of the game, many of the tasks required of the player are trivial, and some are pointless, having little or no bearing on the overall story (in fairness to the developers they do acknowledge this fact in ironic fashion towards the end of the game). Not until you reach the midpoint of the game does it really find its stride, and the main story begin to assert itself in the manner required to carry the game forward. There is also the matter of the choices to consider. I won’t explain my misgivings with this aspect of the game because it could be considered a spoiler of sorts. Suffice it to say, if you decide to play LIS (and I recommend that you do) you will probably work out for yourself where the game falls short in this area. Again, in fairness to Dontnod, I can see how the current constraints of the medium might have limited their options, but I still think that this aspect of the game could have been more fully developed. Having said all this I still enjoyed playing LIS and you would have to have a heart of stone not to be affected by it at times. It looks good, and the painterly style of the graphics suits the game well. The voice acting is solid throughout and it has an excellent soundtrack, including a memorably melancholic opening song (To All of You by Syd Matters). LIS may not quite live up to its potential but it’s still a good attempt to make a narrative-rich gaming experience and I would have given it a 4/5 rating were it not for the shortcomings noted here. Oh, and how about a sequel, Dontnod? It would be interesting to see how Max uses her gift in her adult years.    … Expand

    My personal feeling was that it felt contrived in the end. The developers ended up with no justification for the choices presented to you, other then "because we say so" - logic is out the window, along with consistency in gameplay and story.

You can just chill with it, explore, think, wonder and ask yourself questions. I wish so much this to be a start of a new genre in gaming. I tried it just out of curiosity and I was quickly immersed to a fantastic story that made me think a lot about life in general....Characters, direction and pacing are out of this world. Graphics and music are just outstanding. Its a game you wont forget even years after you play it...This is a 9/10 game without a doubt, a masterpiece of its kind.

I enjoyed it when it first came out and after replaying it I can say it holds up really well. The graphics are a tad dated for the sunnier daytimeLife is Strange was my first experience in what I call “interactive movies”. There is some puzzles; a very bit of stealth; and a lot of walking around; but the biggest part of the game is the dialogue choices you make that effect the story. I enjoyed it when it first came out and after replaying it I can say it holds up really well. The graphics are a tad dated for the sunnier daytime scenes but they’re still above average in my books and have a good colour palette. The storm scenes are still very good, especially the wet clothing and rain effects. The voice acting and music were spot on and across the board I liked them. The dialogue was overall good but could get a bit cringy at times. That being said most of the characters are teens so maybe I should give points for realism. The story itself is fantastic which is good as it is the main draw in the game. I did find the shoehorning of some political issues handled poorly and not subtle at all but it was minor and bearable. The characters made up for it. Whether it was Max; Chloe; Alyssa; Samuel; Warren; Joyce; David; and many more I can’t say I disliked any of them. That is to say they were all well layered, even if some were meant to be detestable. There were a couple times where I didn’t like the choices or how they panned out but they were largely very enjoyable. My issues were that some of them gave me little option but to be a bad person or be mean to others in order to stay on good terms with Chloe but to be fair the game addresses this at times in the story. I also didn’t like a single puzzle where I have to gather materials in the school. I needed to try to reach something that Max wasn’t tall enough for. I knew she couldn’t reach it so I tried to grab a chair but the game wouldn’t let me use the chair until I went through the motions and tried to reach the object anyway. Another time when trying to sort through pictures to tie together evidence they referred to, what was clearly a truck, as an SUV.

    I played Life Strange on Linux. It never crashed on me. I did notice that one time Max lacked lip movements while talking but the whole issue lasted about ten seconds so it wasn’t a big deal. The game has a v-sync toggle; two AA settings; a resolution option; and four other graphics settings. Alt-Tab didn’t work. The performance was overall very good but I will say that it was jarring whenever the game went from cut scenes to normal game play because the game used my 144Hz refresh rate but the cut scenes were capped at 30 FPS and it looked weird for the first second or so before and after. The game dropped to 24 FPS for 1-2 seconds and also dropped to 65 FPS for 1-2 seconds but spent the most of the time at 100 FPS or higher. The game uses an auto save system. Overall it worked alright but at least once I noticed that I quit after seeing the save point mid scene and when I went back in it started me at the beginning of the scene not when the save point was. I would have preferred a manual save system.

    Overall I highly recommend Life is Strange. It has great production values; a good story with great characters; and does a good job allowing you some freedom to make choices. If some of my criticisms seem petty it’s because they are, I really don’t have any serious flaws to gripe about. I finished my first play through in 13.5 hours and my second in 14.5 hrs. I spent $21.74 CAD on all five episodes and would have happily paid $45 so I think the current price of $21.99 CAD is a steal.

    It is the second game that makes me cry in my life.
    I can't imagine what can be a better medium to tell a story about time traveler than a video game like Life Is Strange.

    This game is a perfection in its own genre. If you like "choices matter" and "story rich" games, just buy the whole bundle. The epic ending of episode 5 is especially mind-breaking. Don't let the apparent, naive, teenage vibe fool you, it's a deep game.

    Note that this is a melodramatic story and you need to employ a certain level of suspension of disbelief in order to find it enjoyable. Characters are exaggerated/stereotypical    GOTY 2015.     The closest you get to a Western slice-of-life game. A solid mix of and interactive film and a slice-of-life game with more gameplay and dignity than Telltale titles, decorated with powerful cinematography and ambience.

Я делаю скидку на бюджет и готов из-за этого смотреть на бесконечные восьмёрки в диалогах, но крепкого фундамента в виде сценария разработчики не смогли обеспечить, отчего все это хочется бросить и возненавидеть.
    3. Геймплей в игре хуже двух аспектов выше вместе взятых. Очень скучно, очень однообразно. Механика с перемоткой времени - вверх вымученности; игрока постоянно берут за шкирку, чтобы он ей пользовался, отчего даже иллюзия вариативности сходит на нет. Хотя эту иллюзию изначально не поддерживали.
    Диалоговое окно имеет минимальный смысл из-за минимальной вариативности. И самое мною ненавистною в этой игры - ходить и рассматривать предметы на локации. Нет, спасибо. ...
    Будь мне 15 лет - это было бы круто, но не в 20. Слишком много огрехов, слишком мало таланта разработчиков. Даже в игры Teltale играть интереснее, думаю. Не говоря уже о quantic dream и прочих предложениях подобного жанра на рынке.
    Никому не советую эту игру.

    The game story is just brilliant. It is magical, engaging and can bring tears to your eyes at the end. Every episode is equally good as it almost every time leave you with some revelation.
    This is a tale of superpowers, small town, and friendship. The story itself feels like a good TV series but it is so much better thanks to the fact that you are in control of one of the characters. The    The game story is just brilliant.     Fantastic game with a fair price and a catching story. The best about this game is its narrative, gameplay is solid and graphics are not the best but still sort of good. Overall I enjoyed the game and its aspects a lot!

    1,2,3,4 episodes are awesome and sometimes shocking! One moment is scaring, another - you want to cry... Very interesting and sensual game, but... Episode 5 is a little weaker... I think developers a bit sluggish, when they make episode five...

    Los personajes son algo carismáticos y esta bien, no son nada del otro mundo.
    Un juego que si te gustaron las obras de Telltale Games y eres un adolescente o un adulto que busca ideas filosóficas baratas, este este juego. Si en cambio buscas un aventura gráfica más adulta y sobre todo más entretenida y menos pedante que esta, Grim Fandango es tu juego.    … Expand

    Life Is Strange is an imperfect video game and the actual mechanics of playing it, including the time rewind, can become annoying of frustrating, especially when the development team tries to borrow from another genre. But the game makes it easy to create a connection with Max and to care about her choices and trials, a rare feat, and that means any fan of narrative-driven experiences should try it out to see how he deals with the feelings of the protagonist and the impact they have on Arcadia Bay.
