EmperorFoolDec 1, 2008This is a great multiplayer game, especially if everyone has a mic. It needs more content such as maps, weapons, and special infected types. While the gameplay is very fun, it gets repetitive as there are only a few ways things can go even though placement of items and monsters is random.

XanderJonesNov 30, 2008I would have given this game a 9 due to lack of content (would far exceed a 10 if only there were some more campaigns) but since some idiot that plays on easy and still doesn't know how to play with others gave it a 0, I had to try to give it a more accurate score. There is NO zombie game, mod or level that can compare to L4D. The best game of 2008

FrankGrimesNov 30, 2008Valve did a great job at researching and replicating zombie hunting. They've included some new features to the game as simple as automatic crouching when you come to a low spot, it's the little touches that make it stand out, I feel. Plus the new shadow and shading effects are cool too, esp. for a multiplayer game.

XQNov 29, 2008It's true this would have been a really good game, but valve underestimated online computer gamers' douchieness and their unwillingness to cooperate or even communicate in a meaningful manner, which was really the staple of the whole game. I'm sure testing was really fun for all the guys at valve though...

MikeKolorzNov 28, 2008This is a very, very entertaining game. For the most part I got what I expected out of it. The only thing I could wish for is more weapons. The ones that are available get old after a while, although they are very satisfying to use, they feel nice and are effective.

ChristianCiampiNov 28, 2008an absolutely amazing game, it completely redefines what zombie shooters are. it perfectly takes the old zombie thriller idea and throws the source engine into it, which i think is absolutely perfect as an fps fanatic. ENDLESS entertainment and replay value with versus mode and even campaign mode doesnt get old easily. definitely an amazing buy and yet another great success from valve.

YourFriendNov 28, 2008You need friends in order to play it, that is why Steele X and John S would only have fun if they got together and played.
Other than that, it is a thoroughly awesome game that my friends and I have had fun playing since the demo and as of right now three weeks later. -

PhilENov 27, 2008This game is another exceptional hit from valve. The intense multiplayer action requires you play and think as a team. If one man goes ahead of his group, he's done for. The tensity in this game is unparalleled. It puts Zombie Panic: Source to shame!
I highly recommend this game! 23/10! -

KyleMannNov 27, 2008Steele, how many times did you play through the game? Monsters' locations are different each time you play; that's one of the best features of L4D. Sounds like you tried the demo out once and wound up with a bad group if guys. In my experience, the players are generally nice and helpful compared with other online games. Awesome game.

There's absolutely no doubt that Left 4 Dead is one of the most social and exciting multiplayer games that we've ever played. It's almost pitch perfect in how it captures the tension and the action of a Hollywood zombie movie.
-
The inventive and highly entertaining competitive multiplayer mode just adds to the experience, and we're looking forward to seeing what Valve's got planned for the game's future. Out of all the titles that have shaped the Year of Living Cooperatively, this may be the best experience of them all.

One of the finest zombie games ever made, and one of the finest co-op games ever made. The potential for everything to go so, so wrong without warning, or conversely to pull off the most spectacular escapes against all odds, means this is an online shooter you can tell your finest anecdotes about without boring everyone else to tears.
