    This game keeps pulling me back in. I have had it since launch, pre-ordered it to get a hold of the demo in fact, and there hasn't been a time that I've played it (and I'm in it for about 80 hours at this point) that I haven't had a good time. Whether I'm with a skilled team or 3 noobs fumbling through to the next safe room, I always end up feeling totally This game keeps pulling me back in. Whether I'm with a skilled team or 3 noobs fumbling through to the next safe room, I always end up feeling totally satisfied or busting a gut laughing. This game has it all, and yes, there are only 4 campaigns, but those campaigns are meticulous in design and atmosphere, and even after playing through all of them probably dozens of times at this point, I still find something new to like about this game on the next play thru, something that didn't happen before or something someone on my team did that was totally unexpected and usually fatal. 10/10, without a doubt, and I totally look forward to seeing the gravy Valve throws on top over the next couple of years.… Expand

    I want to know wtf the "critics" were thinking when they rated this game? 89 is insulting... on the less drunk and more serious side I am completely addicted to this game. I think that this is the best game that valve has put out. TF2 is pretty amazing and I could see where people would prefer it over L4D but this game is one of the most ballanced games that I have ever played. The only negative is that you can't choose your own server or play as only one side... I can see both sides to the argument and I don't know if enough people would want to play human or not but as a whole the game is just outstanding!!!… Expand

    Definitely one of the best games ever made and that ever will be made. Words are not enough to describable the feeling of anxiousness that you will have with each moment that you're making your way to the safehouse hoping no tanks or massive hordes come rushing at you. Definitely a must-have even if you're not in the genre.

Yes, there are only four campaigns, but the AI director makes each level a unique experience, and plus, even with games like CS:S or TF2 that are also releases from Valve, you'll learn every level in a week. Valve's other releases like HL2 and Portal are full of rich storytelling. Once Valve releases the additional two maps for versus, survivor, and the SDK, you'll start to change your mind. Games like Battlefield 2 have expansion and booster packs that you have to pay for, which only add a few things here and there, but with Valve, you get free updates until the game is dead.… Expand

    This game is so awsome that you need to restrain yourself playing it. You WILL get scared sometimes. But as they said in the reveiws, this game is all about cooperation. VS mode are made so that you really have to make a plan, and that makes it a coop match for both teams, human and infected! Gabe Newell and your programmers, YOU RULE!

    From the concept of the game to the design of the game, valve has been very diligent in the making of L4D. Most of the controls have been preserved from Counter-Strike which reduces the learning curve for most players. It is a fantastic experience playing this game especially with the release of the Survival pack.     This game is perhaps one of the best games to play with your friends. The fact that when certain zombies grab you and your helpless and only your teammates can save you requires players to work together. The AI director always makes sure that you have a diffrent unique challenge every time you start a game. And the AI director if played on the rigt difficulty will make it so you survive This game is perhaps one of the best games to play with your friends. Online play is just fantastic as in Versus mode you can become the Hunter, Boomer, Smooker and if your luck the tank which is a giant muscular zombie that will crush anything that is unfortanate enough to get in its way.This is a game you will play over and over again. For days on end and brings a new meaning to zombie survival games.… Expand

    This is the most awesome game ive played in a while. you must cooperate or die facing hordes of zombies blah blah blah. this game is awesome when on expert and peoplestart to get wounded. do you leave your team behind and dash to be rescued or do you stay behind to try and save them? do you outrun the limping guy to escape the tank or do you lure it away? its so awesome.

    This game is non stop shooting, heads blowing off and blood everywhere. unpredictable on where the zombie going to be and attack.

    Amazing game. I got it the minute it came out in November. It's now May, and I still play it nearly every day. A zombie fan's dream come true.

    This is the first zombie game I have ever played, and I have to say I am deeply mesmerized by the endless hordes and intense gameplay. The co-op is simply splendid and adds to the replayable value of this entire game. Strongly suggest purchasing this game! It will be money well spent!

    Truly an addictive experience. The gameplay and the graphics are amazing, along with the differences in survivors and infected playstyles make this game hard to put down.

    This is such an awesome zombie shooting game, a wicked combo of slow zombies, fast runnin zombies, and some special zombies ! :D it rox ! if you love shooting / wasting / burning zombies, this is your game!

    I confess bias. I love everything with zombies in it, but ever since "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis", I haven't seen any really good zombie games. Until now! The fear, the adrenaline, the darkness, and above all, the sensation that one false step means death. That is what a zombie game needs. Others are more action oriented and make the zombies seem like crash test dummies to be ripped to I confess bias.     one the best games out there. I can play it on the highest graphics settings and it is amazing. Online is fun same with the new Survival mode. Expert Difficulty will keep you occupied if you get bored.

    I think this game is sick and it is by far one of the most fun games in America, but thats my opinion. This game was the second game I purchased on Steam.     Well, i cant really say anything bad about it, other than the players, if you've had this game for awhile and are decent at it you know how bad some public players can be, but the gameplay is amazingly addicting, especially being able to play as zombies, the weapons admittedly get old after awhile, but, i usually use the same weapon for a long time, til i get bored of it, then i Well, i cant really say anything bad about it, other than the players, if you've had this game for awhile and are decent at it you know how bad some public players can be, but the gameplay is amazingly addicting, especially being able to play as zombies, the weapons admittedly get old after awhile, but, i usually use the same weapon for a long time, til i get bored of it, then i switch to a different weapon, then repeat! the infected classes, boomer, smoker, hunter, and tank, are all playable and can all be fun depending on your gaming style, hunter for fast paced, smoker for snipers/tacticle players, boomers for.... eh.... im really not sure but i have friends that love the boomer, and the tank for basically owning everything, when playing online a lot of strategy can be involved, but im not gonna sit here and explain it to you, you'll just have to get it and find out yourself.… Expand

    i love this game! its so addicting... and every time you play its unique and exciting. The only thing is that you have to make sure you play with people willing to play as a team... but oh well its still an awesome game. non stop thrills. non stop action. and i can not wait untill l4d2 comes out... so what if it doesnt have a story... big deal! story lines get boring after you play them ai love this game! its so addicting... and every time you play its unique and exciting.     Basically one of the best damn games i have played. the AI director keeps me on my seat, the ideas for infected and special infected are great, and for me its a very high replay value.only problem i have is the Team Killers online. i cannot wait for left 4 dead 2.

    One of the best games ever created. amazing multiplayer and hell of a lot of fun. The campaignes do not stop there you can always go to third party sites and download new maps for any kind of game even zelda and mario world :) Love it! only problem is its too addictive. enjoy

    If you like fast paced, co-op first person shooters this is the game for you. The directer AI ensures an unique gameplay through each map. I have only played the demo so far, but already have wasted over 5 hours on it.

    This game is not for everyone, but if you like blowing the heads off of zombies, while screaming at your pal to watch out for that hunter this is a must buy.

    Rated a 10. The game is a breath of fresh air. It took what could have been crappy "mow down the zombies" game and made it a really fun and intense co-op game. This game's hype should not be allowed to be drowned out by the noise of the many other games coming to market right now. It is worth the buy.

    This game is simply superb, it forces players to stick together and work as a close team in order to survive, and especially on harder difficulty settings, without amazing teamwork, the levels simply can't be completed. It's the teamwork aspect of this game that makes it truely special!

    This game is absolutely perfect! The graphics on the source engine have been drastically improved from previous games, the faces and characters look almost identical to that of new engines like Cryengine 2! This game relies completely on teamwork, a concept many FPS games often lack. There is more strategy in the game than you think, particularly in Versus mode.

    This is a great game out of the start. There where many bugs in the demo that where fixed in the release. This shows something that not many other games can beat. I have always loved valve games, constant updates and bug fixes shows they care as a game developer. Go valve!

    This is quite possibly one of the best multiplayer games out there right now, BAR NONE. Valve has got it right here, zombies, fps(ala counterstrike), and cooperative play. The graphics of the source engine have been amped up to beautiful quality, the charachters all have personalities, the gameplay is INTENSE. In other words, BUY THIS GAME.

    This game is just about perfect. As a person that has just about given up on singleplayer games it's great to have a game the has massive replayerbility in multiplayer and that everyone can agree to play, sort of the middle ground between coop players and TDM lovers it gives you alot. It is defently true that every time you play the game it can be radicly different, so if you thought This game is just about perfect. I have to give this game a 10 because quite frankly a game that finnaly gives an almost flawless multiplayer experience mixed in with great NPCS has just never been done(well) before now.… Expand

    My friend and I pre-ordered this game. and the demo was very fun. The day it came out, we set up out computers next to each other, stayed home from school, and played all day! This game is amazing! Valve is one of the few video game companies that gives a crap about their products, I love Valve!

    I think its a great game, nice graphics, nice sound, nice controls and a really good AI-system. It would have been more fun if you we're able to play Versus mode on all four maps, instead of only 2. But that is not enough to drag it "down" into a nine.

    There's absolutely no doubt that Left 4 Dead is one of the most social and exciting multiplayer games that we've ever played. It's almost pitch perfect in how it captures the tension and the action of a Hollywood zombie movie.
