I love this game. It is a true RPG and at the same time educational due to its realism and historical accuracy. Highly recommend this game to History Nerds like me, but also for the average gamer because it is extremely rewarding , unlike other games that make you a god king .

This game is more than just a great game. It brought something new to the market, it opened new perspectives. When I was a kid, I was dreaming of such a kind of game : an extremely realistic RPG taking place in the middle-age, in Europa. Warhorse studios made this dream come true.

I think at this stage, almost everyone is aware of the kind of game this is, but I feel the need to repeat it here : beware, this is not what we got used to call RPG those last years. To me, the last Fallout, the last Bioshock or M&B aren't RPGs. This is an opinion, this is not a fact. No need to develop my point, that's not the matter. But if you don't agree with this statement, you will probably not enjoy Kingdom Come Deliverance.

Although very good, I don't think the critics score is extremely relevant here. Btw, this score just reminds me how badly my beloved video-game industry evolved; this media I used to put above cinema and even books. Now that it has became mainstream, ideologists decided to corrupt it. Some reviews brought KCD down on false allegations of racism, sexism and whatnot. Those reviewers gave bad marks because they felt attacked in their beliefs. Everything is political to them, everything sends a message. Realism doesn't matter, ideological propaganda does. Which is absurd when the topic aims at being as realistic and historically accurate as possible.

On the other hand, I believe the user score gives a better indication on the game quality. This is a game you'll love or this is a game you'll hate. If you like RPG, if you like history, if you like the middle-age, you'll love this game. If you expect it to be a story-driven M&B (sounds like an oxymoron), you'll be disappointed.

I been following KDC since the kickstarter and was very hyped for the game, the hype died a bit when realese got closer, didn't think the combat would be fun and didn´t know if it gonna be fun to play the game at all. Boy was i wrong, i was hooked 2 weeks straight until i finish the game. Now im waiting for the DLC stuff. Goodwork Warshorse

Absolutely loved the game, while the difficulty curve was something to be used to and some of the early game bugs, while hilarious, did make certain features more difficult than intended. The team has been working hard to polish these out and some 100+ hours later the game is truly a gem in the rough.

You might not enjoy the animations, but countryside visuals are simply breathtaking. It is the world that has spirit, and the spirit is so rich, so complex, and so en lighted you will forgive (and forget) small to medium mistakes.

It is the living thing and you are being taken away from one world to another - not the dreamworld, but world you easily believe in.

It is like hyperspace jump whenever you switch off the PC - and it takes a while to decompress from this outer space and realize where you are....

I will not discuss mechanics, skills, game-play, this is done by others. I do not need to compare it to some big players in RPG genre as crowds already did.

This is simply different, unique, and for its uniqueness it will definitely expand the boundaries of whole industry. It deserves attention (and big success in terms of incomes) as this is moving industry somewhere… Believe me, this will silently push the sensual story-lines, screenplays, and credibility of all open world games - simply as people who tried it and experienced it will demand it again as they will miss these new feelings… And people who creates video-games will try to deliver similar experience to avoid endless and trillionth copy of sandbox where you are repeating the same stuff with only different backgrounds on and on - without any sense, but of course – like complete, total and brutal superhero.

And I do not give a damn my text above is full of cliche crap and it is admiring, not criticizing and not showing any details about the Game.

Experience it yourself, discover it, see it and FEEL it your selves - I would not steal any 1/1000000 from you by revealing you something more than emotions...

This is literally changing your state of mind and feelings about the future for whole – the time has come when movies really sucks compared to this experience!

RPG bordering on LARPing :) Never spent so much time worrying about the condition of my fancy hat in a game. Extremely beautiful, so immersive. The difficulty is a cherry on top, you have to EARN everything here. After 80 hours i still get worried about upcoming fights, stealing anything, saying anything. I never want to go back to "normal" save system, its just cheating, ha.

KC:D is the game that I've been waiting my entire gaming life for. Regardless of the launch issues, to me, this game is RPG perfection, in every way. At times, it can be hard. More than most games in recent history, both the player and the character needs to level up to fully appreciate the experience. There's no spoon-feeding here. There is a genuine story to discover, that's deeper and more real than most, as you, the player, learn the game's mechanics and systems. Very rarely in recent times have I felt the satisfaction from a game than i felt from this game. From the past 20 years, KC:D joins three other games that have been this enjoyable and impactful to me, personally - Morrowind, Dark Souls and Persona 5. To me, this game is perfection, and I can't wait to see what Warhorse does next. I hope it's the second and third chapters to this magnificent experience. Expand

This is a true RPG, one where you 'Role Play', one with a realistic atmosphere, deep lore, great narrative, interesting NPCs to befriend or make enemies from... But most of all: A wealth of complex sidequests, all of them with their own stories and a myriad ways to solve, many of them with direct implications over the main quest. I love how organic it feels.

This game respects the player and his time, and for me it has earned a place at the top of my Pure-RPGs list, right at the side of Vampire:Bloodlines and Fallout NV.

I created an account just to review this gem of a game.

This game transposes you to the medieval era, it does not have super heroes, it does not have magic shenanigans, you fight with your light/heavy armor on, with your sword and optionally a shield, or with your bow. It is as realistic as it gets, the only magical/mystical elements are only through the eyes and superstitions of some of the characters, and they are presented very humorously with always pointing out the real/rational explanation for them. It also catches the religious fanaticism which used to govern that era, even your own character has a great fear of God. The landscapes, the villages, the castles are very authentic to the era and the location where the action happens.

Also there is a big dose of unexpectedly good humor in it, many of the quests are absolutely hilarious, they made me laugh my ar$e of.

The combat system is very ingenious, the combos , the ripostes, the feints, the perfect blocks are all great and not so easy to master, you must do any of them at the right time when you see an opening in the adversary's defenses or when you create an opening, it's definitely not a spamming mess, it actually requires practice to be good at it. When outnumbered the fight becomes extremely hard even when you have all the expensive armors and weapons, especially if the adversaries are also well armed; you never become the unbeatable beast you see in other games, which only adds to the realism. Also the enemies will chase you to the end of the world if you don't get to ride your horse and run if in trouble, they can also dismount you and kill you if you don't put some distance in time.

But nothing stops you from going more stealthy, what you wear actually makes you either more stealthy or more resilient to damage through heavy armor but more noisy and visible. Keep in mind that all/most NPC's sleep at night.

The perks system is also cool, and I did not find any of them to make you really OP, which is really nice.

At the start of the game prepare to be beaten a lot , you only become more badass at fighting after one of the main quests.

Many people complain about bugs, I only encountered a few, and only one if I recall correctly which prevented me from finishing a quest, and required a reload of an older save. This is another quality of the game, it does not limit you with anything, you can finish most quests in more than one way, so if one is buggy, you can go for another way to do it, but as I said this was only the case like once.

Also the alchemy system, the lockpicking, the pickpocketing, re-sharpening your swords by hand after they get blunt, all are let's call them mini-games, and all add to the charm of the game, this game does not hold your hand with anything, you must earn everything and you s**k at everything in the beginning.

You really start as an ordinary peasant which cannot even read, you must progress to become better and better at everything, you must actually earn the respect of the other characters in the game by hard work, by continuously improving yourself, to become a noble.

In conclusion, I really recommend it, it is a very good deal with lots and lots of entertaining hours for a more than reasonable amount of your bucks.

    Cheers

As a historically-correct (Maybe not 100 percent but very very close) story-driven rpg this game really is something special to me.

While it may not be as open world as some games, it does what it does very well, the mechanics are intricate and well thought out, but mainly this game is about immersion. If you're the sort of person who likes to immerse yourself in a story/world then this might be the game for you.
I just love trotting along on the back of my horse through a medieval forest or landscape and just take it all in. I love that you start as a lowly peasant who isn't that good at anything but you can grow your character to be a capable man-at-arms.

The game is realistic as you need to sleep and eat and though it may seem complicated it is quite simple to grasp the concept. The story is always fun no matter what, whether it's a simple quest like getting some coal or wether it is more important like storming a castle, the story never ceases to amaze. Not to mention the game is very long and even after having completed the story there so much more left to do in the world, the side quests are endless.
Getting new loot is always exiting and looking good will always make you feel like an actual night in the medieval era.

I grew up in a farming community, and I feel they did pretty good on the details. I have no complaints so far. This looks like an up-and-coming company and game. Game mechanics are hard to get used to but like anything else, practice...practice...practice... I think they came up with a good idea to base fighting movements on reactions, timing, stamina, and health. Makes fighting give that small fear factor to aid you in reacting.
Almost a year later, this game is still my favorite. With 300+ hours of gameplay, I cannot get enough of the environment. I played through quickly the first time and wished I had taken the time to enjoy the journey instead of the end game. I have tried adding some of the Nexus mods to tweak some of the things that annoy me (like the animation of bending down to pick herbs) but got carried away with some of the mods that just made the game different from the original. I chose to start the game again after the latest DLC (Yes, I WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT WARHORSE STUDIOS) and play the game with only a couple mods with the intent of taking my time to enjoy the journey this time. I so much love the game mechanics and not to mention the breathtaking simplicity and beauty of the countryside. The game has won BEST GAME EVER award for me. WARHORSE STUDIOS: Please make more games like this!
+ Using historical places (that can still be seen today) along with the storyline. *BTW* I hate history!
+ Fantasy of role-playing as an underdog and likable character with choices of integrity, emotion, and open world adventure - especially avoiding time-sensitive events.
+ Story including family and connecting with a cause of family honor, friendships, loyalty, and a sense of character development. Starting as a pauper or an incredible backstory of the player's history (like the twist in Henri's birthright).
    + Simplicity and realism
    + Open world
+ Modding for new storylines, community add-ins, and story enhancing DLC
There will always be a sentimental connection to this game. Keep up the great work Warhorse Studios! I'm looking forward to what comes next with your game studio! Wishing you the best of luck!

The best RPG game for a long time. Best immersion into a dark-ages world, both visual and historical, good storyline. The gameplay was not as hard as many people comment, after a certain level it's really just clicking fast. But still, the most enjoyable game, and I come from the country which produced Whitcher 3, and I still prefer KCD!

Combat is highly dynamic and skill-based, demanding that you watch the opponent's sword arm carefully. Stealth works wonderfully, taking into account how the player is dressed and the environment. Archery is extremely difficult but if done well also very powerful - it truly conveys the risk/reward aspect an archer would've dealt with in medieval times as long-range shots are nearly impossible to land unless having trained a lifetime, forcing him to swap to melee after a few shots.

Even alchemy, food, sleep and equipment repair are done very intelligently and immersively. Characters are believable and brilliantly designed, their dialogue written to a high standard. The player is even illiterate at the start of the game!

There are some flaws, notably in the AI, the extreme overpowered-ness the player achieves near the end (I've killed some 200 well-armed and well-trained soldiers, even in 10v1 without any trouble) and the horse's deranged tendency to get stuck in small bushes.

But, we can't fault Warhorse for these minor issues given their tiny budget. All in all I'd rate this game over 9000.

Everything has weight to it and each battle feels like a struggle in the best way possible. While hand to hand combat is clunky and the five-prong attack system feels like a less robust version of Skyward Sword's sword combat, it still doesn't take away the fun you'll have. Quests are as various as they are multifaceted. The story is surprisingly well told with a great main character, Henry. I also have to commend the designers on presenting the world of 15th century Bohemia as it was. No modern day revisionism. No tongue in cheek critiques on their culture/religion. They show you the world and how it is, nothing more and certainly nothing less. This is perhaps one of the best RPG's in the past decade if not the best. Recommended to all RPG fans. Expand

I played this game on my PC in 2020 with all available patches and DLCs (dog included). I rarely met any bug and I was impress how smoothly it worked. For more than 300 hours (finished all quests and maxed everything) the game never crashed (not once). Now I finished and discovered whatever was possible. I quit really satisfied but little bit sad it ended. As you walk in the villages, you talk to people, you travel towards cities, all you can think of is how all of that feel realistic and immersive. You go through forests and fields or woods, it all feel so Medieval, it' really impressive. The first sensation i had when I start the game was calm, the beautiful and peaceful sensation that you can have only when you see paintings or imagines representing the Middle Ages. Makes you really want to experience that. The story of Henry is really engaging. You will escort him to his growth path from a simple young and restless peasant to a brave man. As you can expect from a game set in that time, the story will be very epic, manly and chivalrous. Every actions and decisions you make have consequences. The gameplay as many have said is difficult, expecially the combats, but for me this was another thing that adds verisimilitude to the quest. Were they fullfilled? In a way, yes. But they also higly exceeded them in a lot of different ways as well.

I have more than 60hrs of gameplay behind me, I played all of DLCs (Royal Edition) as well and I will try to highlight most importat things, pros and cons of this game:

+ Everything in this game is --really-- realistic and since it is a simiulation of a real world, you have to accept the fact, that there is no magic (only sharlatans and cheaters). This may not seem as a "pros" for a game, but trust me, it'll help you feel "as you were there".
+ Every game mechanic is beleviable and trustworthy. Lockpicking, stealth (remember that in Skyrim with high level Stealth you could do almost everything? Not here), and of course - fighting. It is a huge satisfaction to see Henry "rise" with you as you understand and learn basic of archery and sword-fighting. You'll probably hate it for a few hours at start, but then you'll begin to love it and then most of the games in comparison will begin to look a bit dull.
+ Story and most of the quest are a true masterpiece. Of course there are some dull quest with bring me this and that sort, but sometimes you'll feel truly amazed and you will cry a tears of joy as well (Father Goodwin quest is certainly the best one).
+ In a way it is a trully hardcore experience but still there are a lot of mechanics that will ease your pain. There are only a handful of moments where will you hate the game for being so hardcore. Most of the time it s a fair challenge and satisfaction which comes in hand with this is just wonderful.

    - There are minor bugs still even after two years. Some of the quest needs to be reloaded and played again, though I have never had a problem which would made any quest unfinishable.
    - Optimisation of the game is not the best, that is the fact, but if you have 2020 machine, it should be mostly ok with this 2018 title. I had only a few moments that my framerate dropped under 30fps while playing on High/Ultra settings and fullHD resolution.
    - a very few quest are a bit dull and it's clearly just a reason to lenghthen the game itself.

Overall this a true masterpiece of a game industry and one of the games which will help in a other fields like history classes. This game is a work of art and brilliance.

    Go get it.

If you want to know what happens next play the game yourself or watch a video, I dont want to spoiler too much. Later in the game you can unlock and train many different abilities. To get good at PvP you have to train some hours or you'll die but thats something different considered to other games where you are overpowered from the beginning on. That means you have something to do every time and dont get bored. The PvP system in the game is very good but sometimes a bit buggy, same goes for hitboxes from tree branches, stones and some more. KINGDOM COME: DELIVERANCE is the best ROLE PLAYING game ever made. It beats all the SKYRIMS, WITCHERS, FALLOUTS, FINAL FANTASY's out there for sure.

KINGDOM COME: DELIVERANCE is the best ROLE PLAYING game ever made. It beats all the SKYRIMS, WITCHERS, FALLOUTS, FINAL FANTASY's out there for sure.
Firstly the environment mops up the floor with all those games. This is probably the closest you can come to foto-realism right now, but only when it comes to environment. Animations however are a whole different story, unfortunately they are very wooden. The character models aren't top notch either.
I did enjoy the music in the game & the sound effects are good, the voice acting is hit & miss.
What KCD nails is the immersion and the role playing aspect: you play as Henry, a blacksmith's son. You are not a hero, you're a wimp. You have to LEARN everything in this game. Swordplay, shooting bows (there is no cross hair, mind you), even reading, yes reading, until you master it texts appear as glyphs. THIS is how immersion and ROLE PLAYING is done right. Henry doesn't just pick up a sword and is able to fight a group of bandits, he needs to spar and learn first. The combat is excellent but takes a while getting used to. Mashing the left mouse button will achieve nothing but getting you killed. It actually feels like you are actually swinging a sword.
The saving system is what other games would call "hardcore"" you can only save the game when using a bed (and you cannot spam that either) or drinking "savior schnaps" which costs a pretty penny. The game will "bookmark" your progress when you quit the game, but will delete that save when you return.
This is old school gaming at its best: no quest markers that pinpoint the quest location, no arrows pointing the way. Not hard core enough? Survival mode takes away the compass and you will have to maneuver the world using the sun for orientation. Thanks, I'll keep my compass... Food & drink & rest are required survival aspects. It's a hardcore experience where even a task that is simple in other games (lockpicking) becomes a science to be mastered. A failed quest is worth continuing in many cases and does not necessarily mean "game over". Beware however: active quests don't wait eternally for the player, when the quest says to be at a location at a certain time you'd better be there on time. THIS is how RPGs should be!
Another example of how this game is not SKYRIM is alchemy. You do not simple click on two ingredients in your inventory, but rather follow "cooking instructions" using an hourglass to measure the boiling time.
Don't expect dragons or undead or any other kind of mythical fantasy creatures in KCD: it's a realistic(ish) medieval game, NOT a fantasy game.
Fans of survival games will LOVE this game, as will any true RPG fan. Also keep in mind: there's no difficulty sliders, no easy mode. This game is HARD. And no, this is not comparable to a certain Japanese-made game, KCD is a league of its own.
Now it is true that this game ruffled some feathers (the typical SJW crowd) so let's be frank: the game was designed with realism and history in mind, not to make a political statement and tick off all the SJW boxes. If that is what you are looking for, most every other game nowadays does that, pick up one of those. Also if you want to play Super Sigfried the Dragon Slayer who can dual-wield claymores from the get go and run in full plate armor while doing acrobatics, again, this is the wrong game.

This is the best game I ever played. The characters are fantastic, the environment amazing, the story is fantastic. I loved the combat mechanics, the night/day cycle and the world feels alive. I've spent 100+ hours into the game and I hope that KCD will have some kind of sequel one day.

Wow !!! how do I describe this phenomenon in a word review of 500 words...

    Let's Break it Down

    STORY: 9/10
Your Motive to push forward in this game is fueled by vengeance ..every move you do, every enemy you kill feels satisfying because of the motive behind it , characters in this game matters, you Hate them, and you love them, there are times where I have gone berserk and stabbed an already dead enemy multiple time due to the effect of his character on me and the I hatred I had towards it.

    Non-Playable Characters and AI: 10/10
You care for every single NPC in this game. the game has few but prominent people living in the cities and villages who have direct influence and are affected by what you do in the game, every NPC has a story of his own Even though Radiant AI was introduced by Bethesda long back But, this game takes a step further there is nothing hidden behind "quest triggers" in this game but, rather it's a completely alive and independent world which lives on its own , Here are few examples:
1.If you sneak up in the garrison armory and steal weapons and armor while the gur=ards are sleeping the next day the guards patrolling would have no armor and weapons.
2.During night time if you sneak up behind someone's house and you peek through his window a scribe would be seen busy in his study, you can see people performing their house chores even behind closed doors and walls the part of the game which is 98% of the time not visible to you if you don't see through the windows.
3.People react to the armor you wear differently, the normal townfolk could respect you if you wear shining Plate armor at the same time women NPCs would seem more attractive towards you if you wear designer clothing bought from an esteemed tailor in the game
    ....
and these are just to name a few if you go on youtube youll find a thousand little things the NPCs do which make them more real

    Gameworld: 9/10
The story takes place during a war in Bohemia in 1403. On the orders of Hungarian king Sigismund, Cuman mercenaries raid the mining village of Skalitz, a major source of silver. ... Destitute and vengeful, Henry joins the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who leads a resistance movement against Sigismund's invasion. most of the characters you meet and the landmarks you visit are based on actual history which is a treat for trivial history buffs. the Map includes cities like Rattay, Sasau and few Town villages and mostly surrounded by countryside and thick forests.

    Gameplay: 8/10
To be frank, the gameplay has a steep learning slope, and many players might consider this a bit uninviting as the game literally punishes you for being a peasant , it does a great job of putting you in the horrors of being trapped in a skirmish with trained soldiers and bandits and you react the same way a peasant would, you run and live to fight another day there are multiple ways you can avoid a direct conflict in this game which pushes and expands the traditional RPG elements. The truth is to get better in combat is tough and requires practice but once you get the hang of it and you see yourself gradually improving, and getting better every day it fuels your desire to get into fights more and more because fights in this game are rare and special you never are completely prepared for the game but the enemies will always surprise you nevertheless the more trained you get there are several enemy patterns and moves you master which enable you to take down enemies the same enemies which seemed like a nightmare before and the feeling of accomplishing that is so satisfying and rewarding that it just can't be described in words, Also the reason I have given this game 8/10 and not 10/10 is only because when fighting multiple enemies the interface falls a bit short, the targeting system here is a bit clunky so it becomes a hurdle to defend blows when many enemies are attacking you but again it's a small room for improvement which rarely matters as if you are really skilled there are ways to overcome those situations as well.

It's the kind of game that make you go to sleep at 3:30 AM not only because you work tomorrow, but because you did the same the night before and you're falling asleep on your keyboard.
This situation is purely fictive of course...
For me it very much deserves all its praises, and if you've never played it and it's 2022+, the incredible deals you can get for the full version make for no excuse as of why you're not playing this game already, instead of reading this review.

edit: just found out that the main game designer is no other than Viktor Bocan, the man who designed 2 operation Flashpoint games and ARMA. That explains a lot...

Fantastic game. It really fits the historical theme well, and it truly feels brutal at times. The history buff in me really appreciates the attention to detail - including castles and monasteries that look exactly like their real-world counterparts.

This game is absolutely PERFECT ... You might ask why because the game has preserved both realism and the fun of the gameplay. It reminds me of some of my favourite games like Witcher 3, Skyrim and a little bit of MB 2.
I want to list the good points as follows.
    - Complex weapon use has been thought of and takes some time to learn, but you can't believe what you've done when you learn

    - Complex weapon use has been thought of and takes some time to learn, but you can't believe what you've done when you learn
-You need to think twice for each perk you unlock character development because each perk you choose makes you more prone to a type of gameplay, but if you know what you want to play, it brings you closer to that character.
-The perfect atmosphere. In general, I run a lot in games, I rarely stop and look around, this game makes me do this and I enjoy it very much.

This game is so original, show me one whis is so well made according to the history fact as this one. Anyone can create fantasy game stuff because its just about imagination, but to create something such close to historical events requires a lot more work and enthusiasm! This game score is underrated, should be at least one point highter than it is. Thank you and Good job developers!

Upon the release the PC version is the only reasonable way to enjoy Kingdom Come. And there’s a lot to enjoy, because historically accurate Middle Ages are an awesome setting. The beginning of the game might not be spectacular, but give Deliverance a chance and it will develop into a unique, deep, gripping experience. [04/2018, p.42]

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a different kind. It's incredibly absorbing in its pace, it amazes with a manically detailed medieval era features and a totally true atmosphere, a series of skillfully built quests and, and when you get used to it, a fantastic combat system. There is a one-too-much cliché in the story arc, but the main problem lies in the technical issues. The game is, however, such a remarkable, huge, different and fresh experience that the occasional bug can be simply ignored.
