It’s just a perfect blend of difficulty and discovery from start to finish. It’s basic, sure, but sometimes shaving off the excess parts is how you polish something down to its core. It’s not terribly long to beat once – about six hours for a playthrough – but you’ll want to go through at least twice, and there’s even some things that keep things fresh on a second playthrough so you’re not quite retreading the same game a second time. If you’re a fan of old-school action, definitely pick this up!

Infernax uses retro elements very well, but this is not an experience that simply appeals because of nostalgia. The core mechanics are very good, the action is fun, the level of difficulty can be tweaked to suit both veterans and newcomers. This is how modern developers should approach old ideas. The game could use more info for the on-screen map and maybe a little more in the way of a narrative hook. But for anyone who has played and enjoyed its inspiration Infernax is a great experience and Berzerk should expand on it while keeping between this kind of balance between old and new.

Overall, Infernax is a title I didn’t know about a week ago and has quickly sucked me in and become one of my top titles to play for 2022. It is available starting February 14, 2022. I highly recommend this for anyone who is into retro-style RPGs and platformers. Have fun and enjoy it as much as I have.

Infernax is the heir to Castlevania (the NES one) that I didn't know I craved, but it was almost impossible to break away from once I started playing! Equipped with an interesting storyline, highly enjoyable pixel art graphics and an electrifying soundtrack, Infernax gets completed over and over again to the rhythm of “Another game and that's it”, accompanying the player with an intelligent progression of pace and difficulty. Not really cheap for an indie game, but it's worth the price.

Not very lengthy, but bolstered by strong level design and tight controls, Infernax is a worthwhile experience.

2D platforming game fans rejoice, Infernax is here to deliver an intense, tough title that contains violence and silky-smooth gameplay to scratch the incessant Metroidvania itch. Infernax is a must play for fans of this genre.

Infernax is a great retro-styled title that adds in enough ideas of its own to stand up to modern standards. The gory combat and interesting level design maintain interest throughout, and there is lots of potential for replayability through the different moral paths to unlock. If retro gaming is your thing, then Infernax is a great game to add to your collection.

Infernax is a great game that I highly recommend to anyone who loves challenging platformer games that sound and look great. Especially if you don’t mind figuring out what needs to be done next and aren't disgusted by blood and gore.

Infernax is a compelling arcade game that gives Castlevania more love than Konami has in a long time. Full to the brim with disgustingly good monster design and tricky platformer dungeons, you’ll die a lot in Infernax – but there’s plenty of reason to keep getting back up.

All in all, this review finds Infernax to be a bloody good time. Again, though, be sure you know exactly what you’re getting into. Also, be wary of the platforming.

Infernax is the result of combining Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, and Bloodborne. But, even when this sounds like fun, it gets boring quickly because of its dated mechanics.

While I played through on the classic difficult, I found the game to lack significant difficulty, instead relying on trying to grind you down through long tedious sections with backtracking. Where single mistakes can set you back multiple minutes of progress.

On the positive side, several of the bosses were excellently designed. So it isn't all bad. If I had to give the developer advice, I would say to increase the difficulty but make progress more sustained.
