Home offers an intriguing concept, but doesn't quite pull it off. The story isn't very satisfying and the choices game forces you to make rarely have meaningful consequences. It's an okay little horror experience, but it could've been much, much more. [Aug 2012]

As a horror game, Home doesn't succeed fully, but the dark retro style is worth a compliment. Thanks to the fun design, potential freedom of choice but also the limited execution of it leaves players with an unsatisfied feeling.

If you think all good mysteries should offer their own solutions, Home may feel like hollow entertainment. But by allowing you room to interpret, Home keeps you intellectually engaged even when you aren't playing it, and that's a triumph worth celebrating.

The game invites you to think about the story and to take care of every weak sound but then, when the story comes to an end, it leaves you with more questions than answer. Anyway, for lovers of the horror atmosphere, it's worth the price.

If you're at all interested in the interactive fiction genre, knowing full well that there's not a whole lot of actual interaction, that's an eminently fair price.

There is no ultimate objective, no invulnerable horror chasing you down, no health or numbers to gauge your success or failure. Instead, Home offers a plodding journey for answers in a dank world of numerous questions. Who did what? Am I the evil or the oppressed? Is everything as straightforward as it seems or convoluted as I fear? If these questions intrigue you, and if the opportunity to shape their answers by your choices is an equally appealing concept, I wholeheartedly recommend this short but fascinating adventure. Just don't expect your trip home to leave you entirely fulfilled; not all questions have answers. Full Review »

I found the graphics to be well selected for a suspense game. Monsters are always scarier when you leave much to the imagination. But this wasn't utilized at all. There are no thrills to take advantage of the atmosphere. The game-play is extraordinarily simple and yet still quite buggy. Text screens frequently repeated for no reason. This game has no replay value and worse, it has no initial play value. Full Review »
