Sep 16, 2024Hollowbody is a testament to the work of Hamley, and is phenomenal within its own right, but the dedication to various cult classic horror and sci-fi games only adds to how enamored I was with the game; this is how you make a game heavily inspired by other media while making a whole new experience entirely, in a nutshell. But don’t get me wrong, Hollowbody is so much more than its inspirations, made up of multiple moving parts that provide fans of the survival horror genre with something new and refreshing.
-
Sep 12, 2024Hollowbody is the best horror game of the year, standing out with its remarkably good use of tension and incredible atmosphere. Clocking in at about three hours, your short time with this game will surely be memorable, tense, and terrifying.
-
Oct 15, 2024Hollowbody is more than just a nod to classic horror; it combines storytelling, atmosphere, and gameplay in a way that appeals to both newcomers and long-time fans. If you’re looking for a gripping horror experience that keeps you on your toes, this is a game you shouldn’t miss.
-
Sep 30, 2024Hollowbody does a great job of capturing the mood and feel of survival horror classics whilst removing some of the genre’s more annoying aspects and sits at the very top of the indie horror tree alongside the likes of Crow Country and Signalis.
-
Sep 13, 2024As a complete work, Hollowbody elevates video game horror by making players afraid of its world in a way that’s far more effective than many others, and its creepy atmosphere and oppressive gloom made me feel tense at all times. It’s a scary-as-hell love letter to fans of the genre, and I can only hope that horror devs out there take some inspiration from Nathan Hamley’s frightening work.
-
Sep 12, 2024Hollowbody is a strong horror game that perfectly captures the nostalgic atmosphere and play style of old Silent Hill games. The stark artstyle, compelling sound design and emotional story make this a must-play for horror fans.
-
Oct 7, 2024Hollowbody is a wonderful throwback to the golden age of survival horror games in the sixth console generation with an interesting and engaging story and excellent sound design.
-
Sep 16, 2024Hollowbody is a love letter to the survival horror genre of the early 2000s. It’s not without its flaws, particularly in combat variety and puzzle depth, but its strengths far outweigh its shortcomings. For fans of classic survival horror, it offers a beautifully atmospheric, tension-filled experience that feels both nostalgic and new. It becomes a game that you want to see through, if only to witness how far this rabbit hole goes. I’m looking forward to seeing more from this developer in the future.
-
Sep 12, 2024Hollobody is a tribute to the survival horror era with ideas from PS1 and PS2, but with a slight twist and its own setting and aesthetics that results in a tremendously interesting experience, even if it is not always consistent in its approach.
-
Sep 12, 2024Hollowbody handles the core staples of a great survival horror experience with ease. Suffocating atmosphere, tense ammo management and punishing enemies make for a thrilling if unsettling experience. While it lacks depth in enemy variety and its engrossing stories feel slightly too brief, this a psychological thriller that’ll have you running for your life, yet coming back for more. Silent Hill 2 remake’s foggy town looms on the horizon, but Hollowbody’s tech-noir Exclusion Zone may be more competition than it bargained for.
-
Sep 12, 2024Inspired by Silent Hill, Hollowbody will feel familiar to anyone that has played an entry in Konami's celebrated horror series. In any case, this is a seriously unsettling survival horror game with some fun puzzles, and its unique setting makes it feel somewhat fresh.

Oct 28, 2024Hollowbody is a love letter to early turn-of-the-century horror. It’s not the most elegant at dealing with the pieces; some of the puzzles vary wildly in difficulty, enemies are fairly generic and the game is pretty short but you know what? I think, for the fact that this is a solo developer and it’s not highly priced it’s still a solid recommend from me. Even if you’re wanting to wade into the muck of survival horror, this makes a great entry into the genre.
