    Really aggressively mediocre shooter gameplay. Like just plain boring and the movement items are great because you can get past all the boring combat. But then your stuck either listening to the guns non stop even when adjusting the settings to make them shut up. Or stuck with the game wasting your time with either stupid gameplay or conversations.     There is literally nothing good about this game. The gameplay is mid and the comedy is less funny than Amy Schumer. Avoid it at all costs

    I love Rick & Morty, but this game.... Man, i had high hopes. I saw the trailer, i wanted Morties voice in the game, but man was is disappointed. There are some serious performance issues on the pc but lets pretend that everything works fine. The game is utterly boring. Its like a bad shooter from older times.

    high on life is a very good game the humor is good and even more so if you follow the rick and morty series the gameplay, although it is not very innovative, is good for a game of its style, I recommend it 100%

    Just a big ol' pile of 'meh'. I could excuse lazy, hand-holdy and shallow gameplay if the narrative delivered but the jokes just didn't land with me and the voice acting was repetitive at best and more often irritating as hell. had high expectations based on how funny Trover Saves The Universe was but this is a lemon pie. What a shame.

    Imagine being 8 hours deep in a game and you can't continue... Because of a bug. Just by making a simple google search, you can deduce that thousands of people (at least) experienced the same bug as me. Shame on you, devs ! I'll do my best to    Shame shame shame...     This is the surprise hit of the year for me. I didn't know what to expect, but it's an absolutely hilarious game that made me very immersed. Fun action, good gameplay, incredible writing and characters, and I am not even really a fan of the creators, but they really knocked it out of the park with this one.

    An adorable FPS that looks like a cartoon and plays like a wonder. Witty humour, variety, top notch graphical compartment and wonderful characters. This is a 10 out of 10 hands down.

    Very fun and unique game filled with a lot of parody and unique bosses.
    Shooter elements are there, but mostly to create a background for driving narrative. It is more a parody on FPS games than an FPS game itself.

    High on Life was stuttering and buggy at launch. The jokes are a hit and a miss. Can get annoying but there is an option to lower the banter between you and the gun. Gameplay is basic. Story is okay. High on Life is an average at best. It's best to play gamepass than paying $60 for it. Not worth it

    If you are a fan of Justin Roilands dark humour, this is for you.
    So many cool pop culture references and characters will always have something to say.
    I was laughing son hard from the beginning to the end of this game.

    The story is meh, but the game is pretty fun, has a few good jokes, and the gameplay is fine too I had fun platforming and shooting in the game is not too long nor too short just fine, overall it's an ok and chill game.

    I love Rick & Morty, but when I initially saw the trailer for this game I immediately thought that I would be annoyed with the style of humor when navigating this fps shooter, but I was pleasantly surprised. I never thought that the dialogue was tiresome during my playthrough, and I found myself laughing audibly without realizing.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A First Person Shooter from the mind of Justin Roiland, who is the co-creator for Rick and Morty. This is the first game from Roiland's company Squanch Games. The game focuses around a protagonist who happens to find himself in the middle of an alien invasion which sees the aliens taking over earth rounding up the humans and using them as drugs to get high on.

    While defending an attack on your house, you get yourself a gun which just so happens can talk to you. You form a bond, and warp you, your gun, your sister and your house of there, and thats where the adventure begins.

    High on Life is a nice looking game, and it has some very interesting characters, especially some of the weaponry you pick up who all have their own distinct personalities… especially the knife.

    The game itself is a classic FPS, it takes me back to a simpler time of Timesplitters but also feels like its mixed itself with newer games like Doom Eternal, and this can be where it slightly lets itself down, because it hasn’t really injected itself with something new. There are different elements of platforming which come into the mix, such as jetpacks, boosts and firing weapons to get to new areas such as the grappling hook, a shotgun that also fires small platforms and a time-altering gun. But that seems to be the whole mechanic of the game, and once you've done that a few times… the fun wears off and becomes a slightly mundane shooter. The guns can also be slightly annoying at times.

    There is plenty of humour in the game though, and it has that Rick and Morty vibe going on, with some really great adverts knocking around on the TVs that are littered around the world. The characters and their personalities are also amusing, and you can tell these have been well established, and they are memorable.

    If you like Rick and Morty do give this a go, Is it worth the £44.99 price tag…I am not so sure, but one thing is for sure, Roilands company released 2 patches already for this game, so they you can tell that they care greatly for the game, and to make players happy. I myself played this on day one, on the PC, and didn’t encounter any issues, which was a bonus. If you own an xbox or PC and do have GamePass, do yourself a favour and play it for free because its on there.

    At first it seems like the ultimate adventure game but then the linear pathing kicks in. Walls, toxic sludge and abyss's are always in your way ensuring that you are punished for being curious and trying to explore. Linear experiences aren't bad but in this circumstance it is really draining to go through.     Game has a lot of dark humor. I laughed at how absurd everything is. Ran smooth, no issue on PC.
    Didn't play it on launch but glad I got around to it. The game has some platforming, and is a more mature themed Ratchet like game.

FAR too much effort goes into dissecting whether it’s “funny” or not, which is largely beside the point. It’s like trying to argue about whether Earthbound is “funny”.     I've got it from Game Pass. The game looks really good and fun, and I've played it for about 1 to 2 hours and got bored with fairly uninspiring gameplay. Even though I like absurd humor, the one here was hit and miss to me, sometimes making me laugh, other time cringe.

    It's not Doom Eternal obviously - the gunplay is lightweight, it's closer to it's Outer Worlds in overall feel. But it's not meant to be a 'meaty' FPS like Doom, nor a twitch shooter (the AI is mediocre to be polite) - no, it's just a fun game with a tongue in cheek,    It's fun. Not every game has to be a pretentious piece of art that doesn't dare offend the perpetually offended.

    It's doing nothing new apart from the humour, and that's its' actual strength - it's a throwback to a 'one and done' game, where a developer had a vision, realised it and released it for people to play and enjoy instead of wondering how to monetise it for five years. An easy recommend for me, especially if you have Game Pass and get it 'free'.    … Expand

    The gameplay is boilerplate, nothing new or interesting. It's well executed but not much more to say about it. The story is not that entertaining. Monsters come so go shoot monsters. It's as if you have a bad comic take a set from a well known comedian and screw it up completely, and because of that screw up your realize that there was nothing particularly good about the material but the way the well known comedian told the jokes was the thing that made you laugh.

    Afterwards I thought that it was me. The world was no longer appealing at all so I figured I'd watch s06 since I was waiting for a binge to see it. The show is still great, unfortunately this game is not.    … Expand

    The visuals are stunning, with an incredible art style and the audio doesn't disappoint either, with a frankly ridiculous amount of top quality voice work, I often found myself standing still for minutes at a time listening to NPC conversations, the world feels so alive. The gameplay while simple was very enjoyable, and there's just enough depth to keep it interesting, with a ton of upgrades to unlock for your weapons, which just happen to be wise cracking aliens BTW.

    Performance was solid for me, a locked 120fps was possible at 1440p with an RTX 3080, and everything worked how you'd expect it to, no nasty surprises or weirdness. I was a bit surprised the game lacked DLSS and FSR though, those would have been nice additions.

    Overall I enjoyed my time with High on Life immensely, and I would recommend it to anyone. It had me laughing throughout and one scene in particular was probably the funniest thing I have ever seen in a video (the dying moplet).    … Expand

    It is like a combination of The Simpsons and Borderlands. A bit like Trover Saves the Universe. To be honest I didnt enjoy any of these. But somehow I like High on Life. The characters, locations, graphics and music make it a nice audio visual experience that you get dragged into. It is certainly not the typical call of duty like First Person Shooter, but something a lot more creative. InIt is like a combination of The Simpsons and Borderlands. A bit like Trover Saves the Universe. To be honest I didnt enjoy any of these. But somehow I like High on Life. The characters, locations, graphics and music make it a nice audio visual experience that you get dragged into. It is certainly not the typical call of duty like First Person Shooter, but something a lot more creative. In a year with few new FPS, this is probably the best new FPS to play at Christmas Holiday this year.… Expand

    If you're looking for satisfying shooter mechanics, this game doesn't quite scratch that itch either. There's a retro Divorced Boomer Shooter game that you play in the beginning where you have to headshot your ex's new boyfriends while jumping and blowing up explosive barrels, dodging behind cover and stuff. This is more mechanically engaging than the main new-age shooter. Your weapons aren't accurate enough to aim carefully. The highest difficulty is too easy. The boss fights are the only times you have to think very much about where to dodge or what to shoot.

    The boss fights are kind of fun once you get to them, even if they're not particularly challenging. You're probably going to play this game because you like Rick and Morty and the characters are funny and memorable. The game works, is polished, is exactly what you expect from a Rick and Morty game, and there's enough content. It's just not Shooter-of-the-Year and it's not breaking ground in any way.

    * Game is literally unplayable as it will not allow me to rebind the keys. I even Googled how to modify the input.ini file to manually re-code the keys and that didn't work, either. If attempting to modify the bindings in-game, it just gives you a message that you can do it once you're in the game...and I tried that, too - loaded up a game, and once the level started, I went right    Cons:

    * Game is literally unplayable as it will not allow me to rebind the keys. I even Googled how to modify the input.ini file to manually re-code the keys and that didn't work, either. If attempting to modify the bindings in-game, it just gives you a message that you can do it once you're in the game...and I tried that, too - loaded up a game, and once the level started, I went right back into the menu to try to modify the key bindings and same error message.
    * Developers are using Epic Online Services with this game. I don't allow connectivity to Epic's servers from my network. No exceptions - I'll always play games "somewhere else" when Epic Online Services is integrated into the game.

    Pros:

    * None - literally unable to play the game due to the issues with rebinding keys.

    Yes, gameplay is just ok, not too good not too bad, but it's the funniest game I ever played.
    If you want gags after gags after gags for several hours this is just perfect. If you want complex gameplay, brain activity or other serious things look somewhere else.

    Really funny adventure-shooting game. Plays great after Day 1-patch and contains plenty to do incl. 3 full movies. Nice graphics and a massive amount of speech.

    A brilliant and fun video game. Stupid, fun, piss taking and poking fun. Decent gunplay, original soundtrack...quality overall audio and visually creative and designed. Brings me back to when games were fun and random. Unfortunately some woke reviewers and do gooders clearly were offended by this game but it's a fun and solid shooter and one of 2022 better games by far. Played on a good PC.

    I finished High on Life yesterday. I did everything that the game has to offer and it was worth every second of it! If I can say 3 things about this particular one:
    1) I will miss it a lot, especially the characters.
    2) it's by far one of the best games I've played this year. 3) it is what a video game should be.     I can see this game getting a fair amount of negative reviews, although it is currently the most popular game on Game pass and also it's in the 3rd place as the most played game ever - again on Game pass. High on Life is quite similar in structure to old video games like Rachet and Clank or Sly cooper. You have worlds that you travel and visit often, each world is quite open and at the end of each one they have a final boss fight. You are a little kid whose mission is to "clean" these bosses and save the world from the alien threat. At your side you have different weapons that you get gradually and these come with different upgrades that you buy little by little as you progress through the game. The same weapons are 80% of the characters of High on Life since they are aliens who are able to speak and were made to kill.
    High on Life is made by the company Squanch games and the Co-Creator of Rick and Morty - anyone who has seen the series knows what kind of humor to expect here! I am talking about humor because the game itself is based on this and on the dialogues that the characters have with each other. Since we're talking about characters, I have to mention that I loved the whole cast, which, while it's not big, I'll miss them all - really, every single one of them. The Soundtrack of High on Life is also very strong, fitting, exactly what it needed to be to stick with the whole "alien world" theme.
    As for the story, as I mentioned above, we are dealing with an alien threat! We know more or less what to expect but the dialogues are so well worked, honestly you are never bored of it.
    Last but not least the game has a lot of easter eggs, so DON'T listen to those who say that its duration is 6-7 hours only. I was expecting that too, but in the end I needed about 15 hours to see everything. Trust me, finding its easter eggs, it makes the whole experience even more enjoyable so please don't ignore them.

    I recommend it 100% if you like games with dark/satirical humor and a structure reminiscent of the games we used to play as kids. It easily made it to my most favorite games list!!    … Expand

    I'm incredibly grateful to have played this on Gamepass so as not to spend any actual money buying it.

    Technical: - The graphics are hideous and it runs like a steaming pile. Too many colors all in a washed out greasy haze, can't differentiate between anything in the environments. The same 4/5 enemies reused over and over and over and over again. Repeating the same sentence ad infinitum with stuttering, mumbling and throwing in zany pseudo baby space talk ending in "oopy, gooby, zoopy" etc is exhausting to listen to. There's no structure, jokes or cleverness to any of it, just "HEY WOW LOOK HOW ZANY THIS ALL IS" and then on to the next vomit inducing set piece. Absolute pure garbage    … Expand

Gráficamente no es gran cosa además de que en mi pc iba a 30 fps lo cual falla bastante en un shooter lo cual repercutía negativamente en la experiencia. Podría estar mejor optimizado.     First single player game I've played in years that was enjoyable. I don't remember it being severely buggy and I was able to play it without wondering when the game would freeze and break. Sadly we probably won't see anymore of High on Life because of Roiland being a creep, but oh well I guess.

    Хай он лайф не является каким-то откровением в жанре, она даже не ставит целью увлечь вас каким-то уникальным геймплеем, её цель - это комедийное чилловое приключение в generic космическом мире из какой-нибудь проходной серии Рика и Морти, и, мне кажется, я догадываюсь почему мне удалось проникнуться этой игрой, хотя я ненавижу обычные "ничегоновогонедающие" шутеры, фишка в удачном стечении нескольких факторов:
    1. Огромный недостаток сюжетных игр в комедийном жанре, на ум приходит только Стенли Парабл, или какой-нибудь Juzzpank. Да, в игре есть огромное количество Проходного юмора, просто огромное.. тут шутки буквально на каждом шагу, значительная часть которого ещё и относится к низкой "жопописечной" теме, но главное, что тут есть основная юморная концепция - она основана на раздражении, первые 30 минут сюжета я очень много раз улыбался от того, сколькими способами игра пыталась меня выбесить, вы только посмотрите на этот пистолет и представьте, что он практически не затыкается, причём потом у вас появится другая пушка, они начнут говорить не только вам, а ещё и друг с другом, потом появятся ещё пушки, они все будут с одной планеты, и 3 пушки обидятся на одну по кое-какой причине, и даже ваш нож начнёт орать на вас, если вы будете медлить с убийствами, и это же офигенно!
    А многие будут реально беситься из-за этого и дропнут игру - но это только доказывает, что её юмор работает. В середине комедийный сюжет, конечно, проседает, но всё равно иногда подкидывает что-то, от чего можно улыбнуться. "РикМортовский" юмор оказывается очень хорошо "клеится" к игровому формату, хотя могли бы обойтись и без пошлостей.
    В сюжете даже есть капля драмы и 1 сюжетный поворот, и даже ваши пушки немного прописаны, как персонажи, HOL - примитивная, но всё равно законченная сюжетная одиночная игра.
    p.s. В игре нет русского, и понять все шутки вы точно не сможете, но если у вас не двойка по англу была в 3-ем классе, то суть уловить можно, но, конечно же, с русским языком было бы ещё ах*енне..
    2. Sci-fi - Если вам нравиться космическая "инопланетная" тематика, то вы не захотите выходить из этого мира, да - тут проходные дизайны, копипаснутые примитивные существа, тоже самое с лором, Джастин Ройланд просто накидал пару миров, которые бы норм смотрелись в сериале на фоне, - НО,
    невероятный саундтрек от TOBACCO.. ох, как же он прекрасен..

It doesn't have the sophistication or polish of Rick and Morty, showing how much Roiland benefits from the input of Dan Harmon.I enjoyed this game. It is pretty funny. There's a lot cheap potty humor and jokes where the punchline is cursing. Those I didn't enjoy quite as much.

    If the humor isn't for you, you probably won't like this game. The shooter aspect is surprisingly good for a comedy game, but unsurprisingly mediocre compared to a AAA shooter.

    It is a little underbaked overall. In particular, there are some ugly bugs. You will probably have to defeat several bosses a couple of times and redo a few sections after a crash. It's annoying, but I was able to get over it after a moments of cursing the developers.

    Other pros:
    There's some really nice Easter eggs and fun little things like funny posters and graffiti to find. Performance is pretty good even on a lower end computer and the graphics are great on a higher end PC.

    Other cons:
    The world feels a little bit empty. There's very little variety in enemies and NPCs alike and there's very few NPCs you can interact with. In some places, especially the urban areas, the level design is pretty bad. There's tons of invisible walls. After a few minutes of exploration it is really easy to get lost and I was rarely able to get my bearings. There are few markers that stand out to keep you going in the right direction and unless you are on a mission, there's no indication of where you need to go to get back on track. This makes exploration tedious because once you get lost, it is a pain to get back to the game hub and move on.

    If you like raw Justin Roiland, you will probably enjoy this game. Otherwise, you will probably not.    … Expand

    Entretenida comedia especialmente si te gusta Rick and Morty, fuera de eso es un shooter muy fácil con mecánicas típicas de toda la vida.

    Historia pasable, y un aprobado justito en casi todos los apartados, siendo un juego que perfectamente se podría haber hecho hace 10 años a nivel técnico.

    Propuesta decente gracias al guión.

    Później bywają podobne błędy, ale przy nich pomaga wczytanie gry.

    Nieatrakcyjny system modyfikowania broni/umiejętności - tych opisów nie chce się czytać i łatwo przegapić ulepszenie warte uwagi.
    Modyfikacje broni bugują się przy każdym fabularnym odłożeniu uzbrojenia, czasem przy wczytaniu gry lub odrodzeniu po śmierci - trzeba je ściągać i montować w ekwipunku ponownie.    … Expand

    and also surprisingly good and fast pace combat with some nice movement abilities once u unlock all.
    The graphics looks good also in 4K native , many high res. textures and good art style . even if the look its cartonish can look great sometimes in 4K has that " The Fifth element " vibe on it . Was    Very refreshing and fun game. Great writing if u fun of this humor type even better,

    Great combat (especially after picking up more guns and tools). Lots of exploration. Really good side characters.

    The story and plataformas helps to mantein the tittle interesting, and the bosses are good or great.

    The most stupidest 4th wall breaking humor ever in a video game imo. Although very funny, gameplay emphasised deeply on movement, the story was decent. Breath of fresh are to be in the game pass.

    Initially I was sceptical because of 69/100 critic reviews score, I was thinking that this is just another shooter which tries to attract Rick and Morty fans. For sure I was wrong. This is a great game, I couldn't stop laughing.

    First hours of gameplay was full of funny moments, but while the plot progress it was getting more repetetive almost anoying. Combat was decent. There were many abilities that made combat dynamic, interesting and let you finish opponets in different ways. One thing is sure that this game is trully original.

    Really fun game and nice gameplay, definetly not a masterpiece, but you will have good times and great moments during the campaign.
    I had only one bug during the whole playthrough but the only thing I did to fix it was restart the game, good performance overall. Recommend it to everyone who likes Rick and Morty and shooters such as Doom and Halo.

Only problem in my case is blurry textures but this is because 2gb vram in my gtx 1050 (game needs at least 3GB in minimum requirments).     Ah High on Life... what a shame about Justin Roiland. I think if the game hadn't come out in the wake of his abuse allegations and legal proceedings, it would have been received better. It's still only a 7.5 game... but critics would have been fairer.

    Gameplay wise this is the same as a Halo game, the enemies are childish, the guns sound and feel weak, and gets repetitive really fast. But the world building is nice and its funny sometimes.

    Peccato che la forza del gioco, che sta nei dialoghi, sia minata dal mancato doppiaggio in italiano.
    Parlo inglese, ma non in maniera così perfetta da cogliere battute e sfumature al volo, quindi passo metà del tempo a leggere i sottotitoli, rovinandomi l'esperienza di gioco. Meriterebbe    Gameplay e meccaniche che sanno di già visto, condite con uno stile grafico e uno humor pregiovoli.
    Peccato che la forza del gioco, che sta nei dialoghi, sia minata dal mancato doppiaggio in italiano.

    The game was fun with choices all around the game. The game had 4 actual movies from Hollywood which you can watch entirety. Everything is good but the commentary and whips throughout the game is the best thing in the game.

Its easy to enjoy, to laugh at. No farming, just some things which youll get with progression immediately and other stuff which buffs you if you buy.     A lot of fun!!! Awesome gameplay, very funny Haven’t played anything like it!!! Interesting though they kind of took the concept from Cyperpunk 2077 - Skippy the Gun

I had a lot of laughs when I was playing in HoL. We have here rude jokes, irrational characters, weird but simple plot and all that staff from Rick and Morty that I love.

    Gameplay is simple, roaming, shooting, jumping from platform to platform and speaking with weird creatures. Yes is so simple, but not this is core of gameplay. Core is unprecedented sense of humor that flood us from the screen. Is one, big easter egg, parody mechanics from other games. Unfortunate the game is linear, and without this all jokes is only next "Quake". Didn't offer any new solutions or perspective for FPS. Variants of enemy are poor, we have maybe six types of enemy without bosses. Maps are little. Our arsenal isn't impressive, we have a schematic weapons type, but in other, funny, skins. So much that interactions with the weapons is more interesting that shooting from them (yes, them because they have personality).
    Graphics is in cool style between comics and animations like Shrek, so it won't old. High on life has nice textures, good models and artists really did excellent work.
    Another important thing is sound, especially voice acting. Is one of the best acting from all vide games. Actors really know about what is doing on the screen, using a lot of expressions and we can hear a few voice from Rick and Morty. The voices fit to characters on the screen.
    So High on Life is really enjoyable game, can offer a lot of funny moments, but it's only reason that worth to play. If you don't like rude humor, sarcastic people, and unreal plot or if you wanna play in game with good gameplay it isn't game for you. Players who search more tangible world like Rick and Morty will be satisfied    … Expand

    Great game, runs well on my PC as well as my steam deck. I wish I could move my save file between the two and I would like to be able to skip dialog as some of it is kind of slow paced. Everything else about the game is fantastic.
