Heroes Of The Storm is quite fun, and its got a fair bit of familiar characters, as well its not too grindy, the only bad things that i can think of is that the matches are all team based, but thats the same for all mobas, and that there aren't a lot of maps 4 or 5.

I rated this at a 7 because I think it is good intro to the genre. It is like Mario Kart for serious racing games. Except take out the shells, the power ups, and any speed boosts you might get. Also take out any crashing. This gets boring really quick. HOTS has close to no depth at all. Don't know what your skills do? THATS OKAY!!! Just click the one that says it will deal more damage. You never have to last hit. You can suck as much as you want. As long as other people on your team just cooperate with one another, you will most likely win. The objectives in the match are nice... But really really gimmicky. I wanted this to be so much more. Its great to introduce to your friends who have either a) never played video games before or b) suck soooo bad at video games but they want to play something together that this is what you have to deduce to because you don't want to lose a friend. Solo play gets boring REALLY quick. To unlock anything you do have to grind it out a bit. Being a support is a joke. Keep in mind that this is still new and they can change many of this... The only issue I have is the time it will take to gather all the heroes using only gold you gain at the end of the game. It felt like if I died once, the scales would tip in the opponents favor and we could never recover.

After a while the game became very predicable. After the first five minutes, whichever team was in the lead would always win. 9 times out of 10 this was the opposite team.

If you try to quit and start a new game, the game punishes you and calls you a "leaver" and throws you back into the game you just quit. You cant start a new game until the last one ends.

Overall this game lifted me to the heights of enjoyment, the left me in the pits of dispair. Shame on you Blizzard. This will be my first and last MOBA.

Pro Tip: If you want people to keep playing your game, they should actually be able to win once in a while. Nothing makes someone lose interest faster than constantly losing with little hope of success.

Overall, the game feels clumsy, the movement, abilities, most of the champions feel the same: off tanks. In terms of graphics it demands more than it delivers.
The champions pool is constituted of old timers, some you will be pleased to re-encounter, but overall lacks originality. Few will surprise you. In terms of abilities they are too basic. Plus, if you dont buy them (with real money) it will take ages to get a decent amount of champions. In this aspect, seems worse than LoL.

And again, Blizzard picks up a good concept and ruins it, making a noob friendly game. If you are a competitive player, or even a demanded one, stay away from this game. I will.

I've given Heroes of the Storm a shot many times across the alpha, beta, and launch phases. I'll mostly comment on the current state of the game, as Blizzard seems to have settled on the bulk of the game's key features by now. My complaints are pretty straightforward, so I'll go with the Pro/Con format.

    Pros:
    - Beautifully designed game with some amazing characters from across all Blizzard worlds brought to life in a vibrant art style.
    - A solid attempt at bringing more casual players into the MOBA fold. Very easy to pick up and play.
    - Many characters and abilities feel very punchy and responsive.
    - Objective-oriented play is a breath of fresh air from the highly individually competitive structure of many other MOBAs (although - many players don't yet realize this and ignore objectives, leading to a swift loss)

    Mixed:
    - Simplification of the MOBA format across the board. This is a blessing and a curse, as you lose a lot of control but also avoid a lot of unnecessary frustration. Still, overall it tends to make the game feel very shallow.

    Cons:
    - Practically unplayable due to lag, disconnects, and crashes a large percentage of the time. This frequently led me to be counted as absent from games I played 100% of the way through, granting no XP or Gold even for a victory.
    - Extremely aggressive pricing has kept me from spending a single dime on the game, as characters and skins tend to cost around $10 apiece. The cost to unlock all of the content in the game is sky high. And if you're hoping to earn it all through the in game currency, good luck. It would take ages of constant play at a rate far slower than any other MOBA.
    - Absolutely broken matchmaking, made worse by the snowballing nature of the game format. You will know in the first 3 minutes whether your team will win or lose, as once a team gets ahead they almost invariably stay there.
    - Many characters and abilities feel completely useless, with no sign of incoming balancing.
    - Talents are locked behind level walls, which is a death sentence if you are prevented from leveling as per the above lag, crashes, and disconnects.

Perhaps in 6-12 months or so they'll have some of the bugs ironed out... Although, not to sound overly cynical, I've kinda lost faith in Blizzard's commitment to updating and improving their games. Money has become too central a factor in their design philosophy.

I love it! it's a refreshing spin on mobas. i was an avid League of legends player and a fan of games like starcraft/ diablo already. The games don't snowball the same way they do in league. Some maps are pretty hard. You have to balance objectives with lane-ing which is a challenge but can turn a loosing game into a winning one. I'm excited to see where this game goes in a few years.

So, il start with the bad first. My main gripe with Heroes of the Storm is the microstutter / freezing, especially when you on connected to the EU8 server. If you push Ctrl+Alt+F in game you can see which server you get connected to. There is a way to block this server via your firewall, however it tends to increase your matchmaking time exponentially.

Another issue is due to the sound quality / channels and it pushes your game out of sync, however this is fixed by simply reducing your sound quality down to medium and increase your channels from 32 to 64. A small fix but from a Blizzard game, i expected more.

Lastly, the match making, It's difficult to give a general opinion as being Ranked 1 Hero League, i will always be matched with lesser ranked opponents, that and my community always mix and match groups, so sometimes il be teamed up with lesser ranked friends. What i find shocking is when i enter Hero League or Quick match and absolutely roll the enemy comp who clearly don't have a clue. The matchmaking definitely needs some work.

    Now the good:

Heroes of the Storm (HotS) is everything you would want from a team-orientated casual MOBA and if you loved Diablo, Warcraft, Starcraft then you will enjoy pitting your favorite Heroes from these worlds against each other. It's a Blizzard fans wet dream. It removed the tedious mechanics found in DOTA/LoL like last hitting, it gives you shared xp so no benefit for that early game carry to get a quick kill and run away with the leveling. You lane on HotS just to "soak" xp, this is still an important mechanic in the game as if you neglect it, the enemy will soon run away with the levels, abilities and damage outputs, putting you at a disadvantage in teamfights.

The maps: There is a generous amount of maps, each with their own spin, all unique with their own unique primary objective (asides from destroying the enemy core). With a new map coming at the end of the month, there is alot to look forward to. All the maps are themed on the Blizzard games.

Graphics: I like them, maybe not for everybody but they are true to Blizzard with their slightly cartoonish fashion. The animations are solid, the visuals are appealing and the sound affects are fantastic.

In short, if you couldn't get to grips with the other MOBA's, want something a little more action packed, and more catering to casual (with pro-gamer sect) then this is for you. Being blizzard game, you can expect full support and i'm positive they will iron out the nagging issues in the near future.

First of all, I enjoyed this game for about 3-4 weeks but, the more time I spent on it the more I started to dislike this game.

I'll list some thing that bother me and try to explain it so everyone will be able to understand it. (My english is horrible btw.)

1, Garden Of Terror: My most hated map to date, I just couldn't believe how much Blizzard fu**ed up with this one. They put the most brainless gameplay into it, with farming frequently spawning neutral monsters to spawn a huge player controlled monster with a skill that disables an entire base and basically rapes the whole fort within seconds if there is no player around to prevent this skill from doing so, it would be fine if it was on a high cooldown or it couldn't be used more than twice per monster. But no, this fu**ing skill can just be spammed until the opposite team somehow (the monster also has a movement speed boost and a 2-6 sec aoe cc with low cooldown) managed to kill this f**k.

    2. Haunted Mines: Pray to the matchmaking they put a tank, a support and an assassin with medium to high burst in your team. Otherwise the enemy team will just snowball your as* to nirvana because if your team gets behind at the beginning of the game you could surrender instantly (if you could). The map is again designed on farming frequently spawning neutral skeletons to power up an skullgolem (which spawn for both teams after you killed all skeletons) to push one of your lanes to oblivion. The strength is based on the amount of skeletons killed and skulls collected. Sounds fun at first but if you f**k up once and let the other team collect about 20 more skulls than yours, the golem will simply destroy one building after another put their team about 1-2 levels above yours and lower your chance to turn that match to your favor to almost 0. Also the golems respawns at the spot you killed it.

    3. Permanent stealth/Nova: Who on earth had the idea that permanent invisibility was a good idea in the first place? It's just ridiculous, yeah you can see where they are because they blur the texture slightly, but if you have some vision problems like me (even with glasses) you can't see them most of the time and (as for Nova) they just instaburst your as* and leave as if nothing happend. And in most soloq matches your team doesn't even try to group up, so you have almost no counterplay potentional as an class other than an assassin. Even though Nova is considered a bad pick in matches with experienced players, casual players or beginners lose to her most of the time. Towers also can't see through stealth.

    4. Hero costs: Im not complaining about the cash grab stuff, if you waste money on a Moba it's your fault. The gold prices of some heroes, especially the 10k gold heroes, are just ridiculous. It would be fine if you could earn about 100-200 gold per match, but no, they leave you with 20/30 (lose/win) gold per match. If you spent money on stimpacks you have a bonus of 150%, so it would be 50/75 gold per match. You need about ~500-134 matches or ~10000-2680 minutes just for 1 hero.

    5. Most heroes: Last but not least are most of the heroes. If there were no lore or something relateable to them, I wouldn't even look at some of them. Every class has more than 2 heroes that are basically the same, heck most of them even have to use the same talents in order to fulfill their role. Instead of giving them unique abilitys to fit into their roles, most of them have to use the same attack speed steroid or the same blocking ability.

I played this game for a while now, and with the highest level of 40 and about 250 games played I have to say that this game is not good. It's is not horrible or trash oder something like this, but it lost it charme way to fast for a Moba.

I've played the game since technical alpha. I've seen it evolve through the year from input-laggy, bland, unpolished game with potential to one of the best 5v5 brawler games. Note that I don't say MOBA, but brawler, not because of Blizzard marketing but because putting HotS together with DotA and LoL is like putting CoD and TF2 in FPS bucket - pointless.

To understand why HotS is a great game you have to look at it from an unbiased position. you have to unlearn what you've learned, as Yoda would say. It is not enough to say that there is no last-hitting, experience is shared and there are several maps to describe HotS. This game is fundamentally different from DotA and LoL and even Smite, however, if you're a fan of one of these games and try out HotS you will miss out on its promise.

As a game centered around various maps and completing objectives against enemy team, this game has no equal. It is a 20-25 minute stress-test, where to win you have not only to fight the enemy team but to know what to do on the map to maximise the potential, and since the game is short, you have very little time to make a decision. This is what makes HotS so compelling.. The pace of the game, the objectives and lack of last hitting/laning requires a different approach to thinking about the whole process.

When is it safe to take the boss? When will the siege camp do most damage? Should we sacrifice the objective in favour of a sneaky play? Which ultimate ability suits the map, the enemy team and own team composition? The clock is ticking...

Objectively, the game has stellar Blizzard polish. The interface is minimalistic and slick, graphics are improved from SC2 and the colors are much more pronounced. The heroes are well animated and the in-game dialogue is often humorous.

This game is not better or worse than DotA2. It is a different game with a different skill set and on its own it's a masterpiece of Blizzard design once again. My advice if you come from MOBAs is to give it a solid try, not 2-3 games but a 100. After all, I doubt anyone learnedan DotA in less than a 100 games and HotS is no different. Only then will the underlying mechanics become more apparent.

It is the perfect game for long time Blizzard fans while you fight in an epic battle between starcraft, warcraft, etc. heroes. Though despite some bugs ( from my side) I will be playing this for a long time

Heroes of the Storm is an exceptional game that’s thrown the cat amongst the pigeons in this rigid genre.

In Heroes of the Storm you play as one of Blizzard's iconic characters from Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo. At first glance the game looks like a typical 5 vs 5 MOBA, but there are changes that differentiate it from its competitors. The matches are shorter, items have been replaced with talents and all maps have different side objectives. Overall, the changes have made the game more intense and varied. The main thing that I have issues with is the payment model. At first it seems fair and reasonable, but after a while you realize that you have to spend tons of money if you want to unlock all the characters or play the game for a long time. [Sept 2015]

A welcoming avenue into a visually complex genre, with supreme production values. [Summer 2015, p.74]
