Really great moba for everyone who never played a moba before and also for the ones coming from big names like LoL and Dota! Diversity of heroes, great talent system and amazing maps. 10/10 would do

What do I feel about Heroes of the storm.
Well lets put it this way, I have been in since alpha, I am only lvl 26 and I still enjoy it. HoTS is a casual mobo and I like it for that, its heavily team-play oriented and objective focused and is really a masterpiece to be honest.

Personally I have used money on the game to buy the new years skin for lili and chen, and to get the sparkly pony mount. but other than that I have 7 heroes plus the free rotational ones so I have a big bunch to play around with and that is only with gold earned ingame.

Give it a shot you won't regret it.

Love it. Best MOBA out there without a doubt. While playing you can focus on what matter in the game, fighting and not economics.

First-of-all, the real score for this game is 9/10, but I don't mind giving a perfect score to counteract the trolls who haven't even tried the game.

I've played the game since technical alpha. I've seen it evolve through the year from input-laggy, bland, unpolished game with potential to one of the best 5v5 brawler games. Note that I don't say MOBA, but brawler, not because of Blizzard marketing but because putting HotS together with DotA and LoL is like putting CoD and TF2 in FPS bucket - pointless.

To understand why HotS is a great game you have to look at it from an unbiased position. you have to unlearn what you've learned, as Yoda would say. It is not enough to say that there is no last-hitting, experience is shared and there are several maps to describe HotS. This game is fundamentally different from DotA and LoL and even Smite, however, if you're a fan of one of these games and try out HotS you will miss out on its promise.

As a game centered around various maps and completing objectives against enemy team, this game has no equal. It is a 20-25 minute stress-test, where to win you have not only to fight the enemy team but to know what to do on the map to maximise the potential, and since the game is short, you have very little time to make a decision. This is what makes HotS so compelling.. The pace of the game, the objectives and lack of last hitting/laning requires a different approach to thinking about the whole process.

When is it safe to take the boss? When will the siege camp do most damage? Should we sacrifice the objective in favour of a sneaky play? Which ultimate ability suits the map, the enemy team and own team composition? The clock is ticking...

Objectively, the game has stellar Blizzard polish. The interface is minimalistic and slick, graphics are improved from SC2 and the colors are much more pronounced. The heroes are well animated and the in-game dialogue is often humorous.

This game is not better or worse than DotA2. It is a different game with a different skill set and on its own it's a masterpiece of Blizzard design once again. My advice if you come from MOBAs is to give it a solid try, not 2-3 games but a 100. After all, I doubt anyone learnedan DotA in less than a 100 games and HotS is no different. Only then will the underlying mechanics become more apparent.

Its possible to earn them through play but the pricing needs some work. Its adviseable to wait for a sale before spending on real cash on the game at the present. Expand

Hots ( our Heroes of the Storm is a great game. i like how they build a game all about teamwork, and great maps. ( for the most) I know there is a lot of haters, but keep in mind that this is not LoL. Some players don´t understand that. You need to work as a team and dont play alone. great game. And the Games only take about 20 min. can't say anything else.

I own 15 or so, and that's just from using the in-game gold, mostly from daily quest rewards. Bought a new computer just for this game. About to buy another one for the family. It's crazy to think of how much money I spent on WoW, and yet spent nothing on this. What a deal! This is not a game that you want to play solo! It's way more fun with a squad of similarly skilled players. The best part of the game is the insane team fights. The worst part is not being able to leave a quickmatch or an A.I. match, I understand why they did this but completely disagree with it... If you get really into this game the microtransactions will get you, for a free-to-play game you will find yourself spending $60 in no time, but for a AAA game that your going to put 50+ hours into, i'd say it's well worth it. Obviously there are going to be the comparisons to games like DOTA and LoL, there certainly are similarities, but in many respects they aren't justified. By differentiating itself so drastically, Heroes of the Storm is bringing in an entirely different player base all together, there will obviously be unhappy players from other MOBA's move across, but ultimately it will do more to introduce more players to the genre, than to kill off either of the other two big dogs. Die hard players of any of the 3 games will remain so, but casual players, or those looking to get into the genre will almost certainly gravitate towards Heroes of the Storm because it successfully manages to draw a player in, and then keep them playing for longer, by making it about teamwork, minimizing in-match grinding, an maximizing variety through team fighting, hero types, and maps with key objectives.

Currently the matchmaking system is something of a shambles, but having sat through various incarnations of release, Alpha, Closed Beta, Open Beta, Launch, the matchmaking is always a bit of a shambles out of the gate before settling into a fairly competitive (player to player) system, it's not in-depth enough to match based on skill or win percentage with a particular hero, or even class, so you may get a great player using a hero and role the are unfamiliar with, which may translate to a train smash; but you will frequently square off against, or beside, familiar players, which is great, especially if you're carrying a grudge.

Matches are ~20 mins in length, which always seems to feel longer, but each game settles into a good pace, and keeps the action coming thick and fast. By and large the maps are great, with a variety of objectives that can quickly change the landscape of a match and play to individual players strengths or weaknesses. The only real gripe as far as maps go would be the Garden of Terror, where games on average seem to take 5 minutes longer, part of it is due to the volume of contestable objectives, the other part seems to be that the Garden Terror unit itself needs a bit of a buff, as even in the late game it can be cut down quickly without making much of an impact on the enemy defenses.

Team experience is shared, and while you occasionally get games where one team jumps out to a lead, and compounds upon it through a combination of player kills, fort kills and objective catches, there is always a sense that winning one decisive team fight lat in the game can change the dynamic of the match. It is something of an artificial mechanic, but one that rewards great teamwork, can punish selfishness, and allow a team that may not have initially been cohesive, to remain in the match if they can form some kind of degree of cohesion.

the lack of will always be a contentious issue, but the use of talents at various levels throughout the match is a solid system, with each adding a layer of diversity, and adaptability throughout a match, without making them unbeatable (or unplayable) depending on whether you choose the right or wrong talent at any given level. It's not only a forgiving decision, it encourages experimentation to find a build that suits an individual players play style, without needing extensive knowledge, or theory crafting.

The basic marketplace structure seems fair, where cosmetics like mounts and skins cost real money, while heroes can be purchased with real money, or in-game currency earned by playing matches, or completing daily quests. However, the actual pricing seems to be about double what it reasonably should, particularly for the cosmetic aspects. What people generally forget is that while the game is "free-to-play" it costs to be made available. Servers cost money, development teams cost money, so while it's free to play, it's not free to make. That said, most players can justify $10 a month for a new hero, but throw in 2 per month (as we will see in June), and skins at the same price, and devoted players (and completionists alike) can quickly spend upwards of $50 in a single purchase. Given the massive player base at launch, chopping 25% (or even 50%) across the board could be achieved, without compromising the overall quality of the game. Alternatively, you can buy all the heroes, and their master skins, by playing your behind off and accumulating the in-game currency, just don't expect any of the cosmetic options.

The graphics are slick, sounds, animations, and collisions are all Triple A level as you would expect, each hero feels unique, and has been given the love and attention that you would expect for one that pulls together some of the most beloved characters in the Blizzard universe (if not, all gaming), across the board they are well balanced, but you feel they will be in a constant state of re-balancing as new heroes are added, players develop (and exploit) various metas and so on.

It's a great game, well worth your time.

This is a great game, with room to improve. Comparing it to League and Dota, its hard not to shake that feeling of casual-ness Hots ends up relaying. Last hitting is not a necessary mechanic anymore, Talents have been implemented in place of items, and the whole slough of things just seems to hail from a time when things were simpler.
Then you've played for 8 days total time in game, with 550 games under your built, have a Rank 6 account, and realize you love this game.
    Pros:
Every character feels unique and plays differently. I recognize this isn't hard to do when your character pool is 1/3 that of your competitors, but they've done it well so far, and you only launch with so many. I haven't even felt the same way about any other MOBA since playing Abathur, no other game has seemed to have anything on that level.
With items gone and having 2-5 choices on talents every 3 levels, builds felt limited when you first start. once you get the hang of the game and you see that there are so many different ways to play each Hero, Talents take on a whole new level of detail that promotes conuterplay even after champ select, something the other games only touch. Is that a enemy Valla a Siege, Anti-tank, or Burst Valla? Is that Uther a CC Tank, a Healer, or a Nuker? You have to actually look at your enemies talents and adjust.
The maps are different. At first this is a huge deal, providing a completely different feel to each match to the taste of 7 different flavors (8 later this month). Once that wears off it starts to feel like the same old thing, matches revolve around ganking, pushing, and the objective regardless of the map. When you have more experience, and especially in ranked draft play, you know the maps require you to go at the objectives in different ways. This results in different strategies in each map. For Haunted mines are you running a mobility team to just hit and run the objective avoiding the enemy team, or are you running a team fight group of Heroes, trying to hunt them down before they get the objectives. These strategies vary from map to map, team to team.

Cons: I did mention room to improve didn't I
The Matchmaker. You'll read about this in every decent review. Its currently horrible, there's just no other word for it. Quick match is just seemingly random, you never know what kind of teammates you're going to get. In Ranked Hero League, this problem becomes a little more prevalent. When you're playing for keeps and you're Rank 12 with 80 games played and you got a Rank 45 with 3 games played on your team, it might not end so hot. Or it might. Who knows? The matchmaker seems to be all over the place. Hots (and most other MOBAs for that matter) uses an MMR system to place people together, but it never quite seems to do its job.
Clarity: Sometimes I wonder what Blizzard is trying to hide. They have continuously patched their shop to be less and less accessible . Its much easier to browse what you can purchase (both in game gold and IRL money) from hero select than it is from their actual shop currently. When you read a Hero's Abilities and Talents from the Hero select screen, it gives you a basic understanding of what the Hero does and who they function, but the numbers are all scaled to level 1 with no information on how they scale. So you have zero understanding of what those numbers actually accomplish until you've played the Hero at least a few times. They could stand with a little more transparency on what exactly you get when you level up (to be fair, there are numerous sites that can show you how things scale and how numbers are derived. Even a phone app).

Last Word: Hots, as game, is simply more fun than other MOBAs. It is less comprehensive, yes, but don't let anyone tell you that it doesn't take as much skill. People will say the skill cap is lower than other games, but they're wrong. Hots merely does away with skill BARRIERS, such as having to learn each and every item and its relation to your character (lets face in League, I don't want to build an AD Nami, so 2/3 of those items are useless to me anyways).
With no last hitting, we have a game that skips the laning phase, resulting in around 20 minute matches that let you have a great comeback potential. Instead of relying on snowballing, with shared XP, the lower performers on the team are literally buffed by the good ones, yielding better results for the team compared to the individual. As long as everyone is trying to participate with the team, that ALWAYS makes for better game play.
Hots is for people who like to have fun while playing. I love League, but I also love Hots, sometimes people feel like we have to pick. With Hots, there is much less rage. Thats not to say the community is any better, all MOBAs have just the worst people playing them (I know, I'm playing them), but the rage baiting is a much less significant factor with Hots, this might be its biggest strength. Happy gaming!

I still rate HoN over Dota 2 and LoL, due to the fact that it was the first after the original Dota and it had the best mechanics, LoL is just a bad version for the masses and noobs and Dota 2's mechanics are just clunky and slow... However I started to tire of the genre, since there was little innovation going around and everyone was just copying IceFrog's original formula. This was until Heroes of the Storm came out. I was immediately excited to see that it had a different take on them and I was skeptical at first due to the itemization being removed.. but boy oh boy, did it streamline the game. The mechanics are perfected from their Diablo 3 game and HoTs has won me over as the reigning KING of MOBA's now. Sure Blizzard is a money making machine now, with their slightly overpriced models, but you can earn everything without paying, you just have to put in the time.. which you will as this game is highly addictive. 1 - You can't level alone in HotS, whole team levels at the same time. This makes the game seriously team based.

2 - There is no last hit, or gold. This eliminates solo farmers when there is a team fight. Exp is important though, there are certain times when teams must kill creeps to gain exp.

3 - Right now there are 7 maps with different settings, objectives and play styles.

4 - Because there is no gold, there are no items. But there are something called "tallents". Which work like items but most of the time they augment and enhance existing abilities. Some of them them give you additionnal abilities too.

5 - Classes are disticntly divided into four. But thanks to great hero design and talents system there is a lot of flexibility in game.

6 - Last but not least, the game is actually fun. Tons of fun in fact.

    It's balanced, it's polished, it's just fun.

The only thing bothered me about this game was that heroes needed to be unlocked. But that is a good design choice, since heoroes are really different from one another and most of them hard to master.

I have been playing it a lot for a year. It is clearly the best MOBA game in the market right now. Better than LoL or Dota 2, by a large margin.

The MOBA genre was born out of mods for earlier RTS games. They proved really successful, so standalone versions like LoL were introduced. Problem is, those earlier mods depended on RTS engines like Warcraft 3, and many concepts of those mods were influenced by those games, while really not making much sense. When LoL and Dota 2 copied those mods, they brought these problems in their games as well.

Other MOBAs rely too much on last hitting, which is a very boring thing to do, and have concepts like "carries", which is stupid. You are spending at least half the game's time laning mindlessly for gold.

Also, other MOBAs are playing only on 1 main map, with clear cookie cutter builds everyone copies from the others. The supposed "depth" doesn't really exist, it is an illusion, all you have to do is follow the "meta", last hit for 20 minutes, and then play another 20-30 minutes when you already know the outcome of the game but can't really leave.

Heroes, a fresh take on the gerne, removes many of those problems. No last hitting, shared team experience, lots of different maps with different strategies, removal of items, you instead get talent choices unique per hero. The laning phase is quite short and not that tedious, then the game becomes action-packed. Comebacks are extremely common, you don't really know what will happen until the very end.

It is deceptively deep as a game, in my opinion much deeper than LoL or Dota 2. While you can "learn" the basics really easily, and it really is the best MOBA for a newcomer to get into, you have a loooooong way to go before you understand how each map should be played, how heroes synergise with and against each other, and how to teamfight properly.

Also, it is probably the best F2P model i have ever seen. Ignore the haters, you can be 100% competitive and have fun without ever spending a single cent. All heroes are available with purchase for in game gold. Match gold gain rates are really slow, but the game features "daily" quest that are completed very easily and provide lots of gold. Just completing these dailies in PvP games will take 1 hour per day and will allow you to buy plenty of heroes per month, alongside all the other gold bonuses you get from leveling up and other promotions/events. Skins and mounts are costly when not on-sale, but the game has to make money from somewhere, and they are purely cosmetic.

The main problem of this game, is the matchmaking system, which is really bad and easily exploitable. If you have friends to play with, this game will be a blast, but if you are solo, this game can be frustrating. Since this game is the most team-oriented of the MOBAs, your individual influence is very low. If you have trolls, afkers, or just bad players, you may lose games while still playing really well. But still, the game is worth it, even with the bad matchmaking.

In an era where MOBAs reign and multiply, it's the originality of one game that allows them to succeed. For the most part of course: we saw experiments like SMNC, Dawngate, and maybe Smite but they end up either failing, being cancelled or just feel too different to be fun. HoTS however feels different on some regards.

I will admit upfront: I was not expecting any good from this game

For the most part of course: we saw experiments like SMNC, Dawngate, and maybe Smite but they end up either failing, being cancelled or just feel too different to be fun. HoTS however feels different on some regards.

I will admit upfront: I was not expecting any good from this game and I simply thought that this was going to be another LoL or DOTA2 clone with no innovation whatsoever. But in the end I was partially wrong, and I'm glad that the game is actually tons of fun!

Instead of talking of what the game is about, I want to focus on what makes HotS different:

-There are no items. Hence, there's no gold. Hence there's no last hitting. Everyone takes experience points at the same time and you don't get to be shouted if you're a support in need of money: you can attack and get yourself already into the battle from level 1.

There are no levels. To be precise, the levels are shared between all of your team mates but it doesn't mean you can slack off: each player gives exp from their creep farming and hero killing, but there's no fear of being left behind anyway: if your exp rate is low you just go and farm creeps.

There is no jungling. Again, to be precise you can find creeps in the jungle but they have another role, and that's to push the lane. While giving exp, they also turn into stronger creeps that will push the lane and help you out, especially boss types.

No skill levelling. Your skill levels up with your level and you start with all 3 at once from level 1, while you have to choose your ultimate at level 10 (instead of 6). Instead of skills however you have talents and if you've played WoW for the past 2-3 years you'd understand what it is. If not, it simply means that your character gets unique perks on their skills of their choosing, greatly modifying their skills' functions.

The best example I can give is the new hero Kharazim: he is a melee support but with the right talents he can turn into quite a good damage dealer. Granted not all heroes have the same luck, but their talents can potentially change how they behave in combat.

There is more than one map. Most of the maps are still the standard 3 lane way, with one being a 2 lane, but the difference here is that you have more than one map and each one of them have unique events that you MUST do in order to win. In Blackheart's bay for example you have to hunt gold coins so that the pirate will use his cannon on the enemy team's buildings, and or in another where you need to collect seeds to build an horror that you can use, and so on. As of now, there are a total of 9 maps and they are always random chose, meaning that your last match might be totally different than the last.

Overall, the main feature of this game is that it's, quite literally, a simplified MOBA that cuts the fat around the most annoying parts (gold farming, exp farming, etc), and simply makes it more about the actual combat rather than being around preparing to combat. Fights don't last more than 20 minutes (I won some in 10 as well), and that means you can have that "one more game" feeling quite a lot.

Still...the game has flaws. Some aren't game breaking, sure, but they're flaws nevertheless.

The game is still relatively new, which means we have a total of only 40 heroes right now: not a lot for a MOBA, especially where in LoL we have more than 100.

The shop's prices are insanely high. Sure, LoL's skins aren't cheap either but usually the heroes in that game aren't costy, but in HotS a hero can cost up to 10 bucks! And some skins? 15 bucks too! Luckily enough you can buy them with daily missions that give you gold, but that'll take you a very long time before you can purchase your favourite hero.

The lack of items, gold, and experience farming might make the game too easy for some and the talents don't always translate into new builds: if you have one build working you might as well stick with that only. Besides, didn't you do the same on LoL? Didn't you always build the same, exact items for most matches?

And for last, the game is mostly based of events in the map and might turn off the purists, since you ARE required to achieve the events' goals in order to win.

But still I cannot deny that I had a lot of fun playing so far and I quite literally don't see a reason to play Dota or LoL anymore: those games are complex, yes, but they don't allow mistakes to happen and rely on a high skill level to play another hero properly. But in this game, you can play any hero you want and have fun right at the beginning without worrying about too much of your skills. Sure, some heroes are harder than others but even the hardest to play can be fun to try.

With that said, I highly recommend to give this game a try. It tries new things and, in my opinion, it succeeds on making a new type of MOBA. Definitely a must try.

They addressed many of the genre's legacy issues, promoted team play and removed only the pointless complexity, thereby creating a more accessible game without losing any depth in the process. Easy to learn. Hard to master. It's relatively quick to accumulate gold to get a decent selection of heroes, and there is no advantage to veteran players, other than actual skill, to give them an unfair advantage over new players. For some reason, banning is still a thing, so depending on which hero or heroes are your favourite, if you play in ranked matches, you may rarely get to play your favourites as they may simply get banned.

The gameplay will be very familiar to players of the genre, but the more objective-based map selection ensures you'll be fighting the opposing players a lot more frequently than you may be used to. Possibly the best genre evolution is team-wide shared experience accumulation within a game, allowing support and tank players to also kick ass. Unfortunately the game can suffer from performance issues even on high-end hardware. Perhaps a side effect of having the game based on the StarCraft 2 engine, which may not be optimally tuned for modern hardware. This is probably the only major flaw of the game, but a potentially very detrimental one.

The heroes and villains in the game are drawn from the various Blizzard franchises, primarily Diablo, StarCraft and WarCraft. They have plenty of character and are drawn and animated nicely, usually with meaty sound effects that make it a pleasure to destroy an enemy hero and watch what the physics engine does with them afterwards.

The pricing appears crazy to me. The individual heroes and bundles, have a very reasonable price in in-game currency, while their real money price is prohibitively expensive, even looking at the bundles they have on sale. For the full price of an AAA game, you will only get a handful of the game's heroes and a few skins. It's not really a problem for the player, as you can just buy the heroes you want with gold, but before I would spend real money over simply acquiring gold, they'd probably need to halve the real money costs and increase the gold costs by 50%. But maybe I'm just not the average spender.

    PROs
    - Best designed MOBA out there
    - Great selection of heroes/villains
    - Relatively easy to get in-game money for buying new heroes

    CONs
    - Poor optimization
    - Crazy real money prices
    - Banning system

I started playing the Moba genre since it was a mod of Warcraft 3. I never found any other game in the genre quite as enjoying as the mods of WC3. Dota en LoL were not my kind of games, these games have a too steep learning curve and an unkind community. Heroes of the Storm is the reason I tried the genre again, and it succeeded to keep me interested enough. Yes, there are also flamers, kiddies and plain stupid players present. But those kind of players are in every game. You can easily find new friends ( you get bonus xp and gold if u team up with a friend), and just keep playing with the ones you like.

Heroes of the Storm is my main game since January and I estimate that it stays that way for the next half year.

That said, you get enough money by just playing the game to have all cheap heroes and one expensive when you reach heroleague level. People say they can't carry; they are wrong, they are just less able to notice game changing opportunities, or are potentially really bad. LostSands is my username in League of Legends, and I am a Platinum V support main. I play Heroes of the Storm now because it is an objectively better game, and I maintain a 65% win rate in my games. You 100% can carry a game by playing the right characters and making the right play at the right time.

For individuals who are saying that it's community is toxic, that is ultimately not a consequence of the game, but rather a consequence of any given online MOBA community, and HotS is by far the most tame of any of them due to the fact that you literally cannot spend that much time in a game typing, or else you aren't playing.

Make no mistake, If you wanted to complain about Heroes of the Storm, then you can absolutely do so, but it should be done for the right reasons. The largests flaw in heroes of the storm for me is a consequence of one of it's upsides. Games are shorter, and more team oriented, objective centric. Because of this, as an individual who is very competitive, it makes the entire game feel less impactful

There are many times that I know I do very well, landing a critical snare, or a well timed ult, and these things lead to finishing the game. However, these moments don't stack up very well to the moments I have done at the 37 minute mark in League.

This game is great, and maybe the best MOBA, but the brawl mode is so unfair many times... I really cant understand Blizzard... :(

About the gameplay - When you choose your hero and start the game, you are spawned in one of currently 8 battlegrounds along with other 4 player of your team. None of the battlegrounds are the same. They feature different lanes, mobs and most importantly objectives. As the game is heavily teamwork-based, you must complete different objectives to help your team, such as collecting skulls for summoning golems, conquering sky temples etc.
There are no character levels in Heroes of the Storm. All of the team members have the same level as you need to support each other.
No shops or items. You cannot upgrade your hero by buying items or healing with potions. You gain TALENTS every level and upgrade, or get new abilities. You must decide wisely as you cannot undo it.
If you want to unlock more heroes, you need gold and the main source of gold is completing quests, such as playing ceratin hero types or winning game.
There are microtransactions in Heroes of the Storm, but you don't need to spend a single real coin to get all the necessary things.
Overall, this game is very fun, but could use more heroes.
9/10 - Different, but addicting MOBA.

Blizzard always puts out great quality games. HotS looks great, plays smooth, has a huge variety of heroes, maps, and extra stuff, a pretty positive online community, as well as a really really solid client. Overall it's an excellent F2P MOBA. HotS is a bit simpler and easier for beginning players to learn and enjoy, but that means it doesn't quite have the same depth as League in terms of high level play. However, HotS still has some pretty competitive pro-level play. Blizzard is fast approaching Riot's position as the poster child of esports, and I wouldn't be surprised to see HotS on ESPN at some point. Expand

I wanted to play a MOBA but LoL and VainGlory weren't fun for me. I picked up the starter pack for this game ($20) and got right into it. I love it. The combat is fun and I like the turret design more than in other MOBAs. My only complaint is that the frame rate can be bad, even at lower settings. Besides that, this is a great game!

Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard's take on the MOBA genre. It smartly trims the more tedious elements of other MOBA's like LoL and Dota and stands on its own as a fresh experience that is both faster paced and more accessible. Its possible to earn them through play but the pricing needs some work. Its wise to wait for a sale before spending on real cash on the game at the present. Expand

I didnt play in Lol, so particulary i will compare Hots with Dota 2.
When i first saw its graphics, i was surprised it looked very cool and for me, the graphics still better than graphics in dota/lol.

I read many old negative reviews and people say that you need to donate if you want to play ranked or buy new heroes. Its a lie, i could play ranked in a month and have never donated till now, i can play many heroes because i have bought more than half of them, plus you can play some heroes every week without paying for that.Ofc you can donate and unlock ranked in a week, but what do you want?Get lower rank because you played not so much and you are bad player?

What about heroes? In my opinion, we have only 4-5 op heroes, oh you think someone can take them?Every team has 2 ban at the beginning and 1 ban for each team in the middle of preparation. So you can ban op heroes and also some heroes that can beat your pick.If you want to win, make a good pick, i dont see disbalance here.In that case, its similar with Dota.
Every hero has his abilities and talents.Someone said that abilities are similar, i remember only 5 abilities which are similar by its effect (not by animation of cource) or that people want to say that abilities have similar damage or heal?I hope they are not so stupid. In Dota 2 every hero has 4 abilities (i dont remember about passive ability) and you need to make simple upgrades which upgrade damage/heal.Also there are special talents on 10, 15, 20, 25 lvl which can improve your hero stats/give more ability duration/less cooldown/more dmg for ability.
Hots heroes have 5 abilities (5th can be passive or active) , every hero can choose 1 talent of 3-4 (and two to choose for ult), talent up at level 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 20.Some of them have special task to complete and get bonus and there are some which give you new abilities (not so strong, compare with basic). Its clear, that talent system is better in Hots then in Dota. And that was without including Dota items, so lets talk about them.

Items in Dota make a major influence in fight, i find feeding for items is boring, and that is another problem that people say, they say that Hots is boring, too fast and i found guy who said its not funny.
Every game in Dota lasts about 40 mins an average, all the game you are trying to earn money, buy better items and just kill your opponent because you have better items.
Hots is fast, has many maps, the complete opposite of Dota, that how it was made. You think Hots boring because its fast?Because i dont see where it can be boring, if it has 15 different maps and dynamic gameplay.About fun, you want some clowns on the map, who will amuse you or what? For example, find funny playing Cho`Gall with my friend.

Hots has shared level, because of that, there is no guy who will dominate all the opposite team because he got bigger lvl. Team gets exp for killing creeps, taking camps and killing enemy. There is no "Kills mean nothing" or "Its impossible to comeback", Kills give you important exp in the beginning and might give you victory after 20 lvl, because hero respawn is very long at that time of the game.2/5 or 3/5 of the game you need to stay as team (not all the time, how said sever "pro gamers" in these reviews) , the other half heroes must be splited up on all 3-2 lines.
Disconnect problem is not so big, i may have disconnect 1/15 games, but its less than 30 sec.
Now we came to the main problem, the problem of people's behavior. You have a small chance to get a team, where everyone will try to win and wont cry, doing bad for all team. Many people hate Hots for toxic people, but isnt it absolutely all games have such a problem? You can get lower rank because of them, so got I. I got 5 gold after calibration, after several games fall to silver 2 for a long time.It was hard to win every game but then i dealed with that, picking my best heroes.Currently im platinum 3-4.

Hots is an interesting moba game which was made different from other moba games. Its seems easy, but that is the point. You can play other moba, if you dont like its gameplay. Hots was made that way.
That how critics say (and its also a cause because there are no negative critics).

This game deserves at least 1 more point to user score.
    By the way Dota
and Lol have low rating too, everyone just argue with each other. There are people who played Hots and got mad because of "main problem" (and then rated it as 0-4 (who can even rate as 0? 0 score-0 brain)), i think people should left their little whims somewhere else. Still, i wont put bad rating for Dota or Lol because "I played only Dota and then that "Hots" appeared, i wont play it, Dota forever, Hots is trash", its very stupid and looks like child's deed.

Not my first, but my favorite MOBA. Not very complex like others, lot of variety with different maps, and fast pacing. If you like MOBA genre but don't want lot's of time to invest into it Hots your choice. Sadly released to late in over saturated market with leaders like DOTA 2 and Legue of Legends.
Still if I want to relax and play some quick matches HOTS is my choice.

It's really a disappointment that Blizzard sort of placed Heroes of the Storm on the back burner. The concept behind it was truly fantastic, bringing together these beloved characters from the Blizzard universe. Sadly, it seems that the game doesn't rake in the profits for Blizzard quite like Diablo Immortal does, which is why it's no longer receiving updates. In Heroes of the Storm you play as one of Blizzard's iconic characters from Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo. At first glance the game looks like a typical 5 vs 5 MOBA, but there are changes that differentiate it from its competitors. The matches are shorter, items have been replaced with talents and all maps have different side objectives. Overall, the changes have made the game more intense and varied. The main thing that I have issues with is the payment model. At first it seems fair and reasonable, but after a while you realize that you have to spend tons of money if you want to unlock all the characters or play the game for a long time. [Sept 2015]
